Apple ID pops up for no reason on iPod Touch 4th gen on iOS 5.1.1
When I updated to iOS 5.1.1, it fixed every problem I had before. However, it'll ask me to sign into my Apple ID for no reason at all. I checked everything, and there isn't any updates, songs, videos, etc. that needs to be downloaded. What's going on with it?

I've had the same problem (iPhone 4s) and I've done multiple searches and tried everything I could find to no avail. However I believe I fixed the issue - here's what I did:
1) Opened iTunes on my PC
2) Clicked the "Store" tab
3) Clicked "Check for Available Downloads..."
iTunes found one available download and proceeded to successfully download the song that was "stuck".
4) Synced my iPhone with iTunes
5) On my iPhone, I opened the iTunes app
6) Click "Purchased"
7) Found the same song that iTunes PC had downloaded and clicked the download button to download again.
Boom, problem fixed! I had tried to do this multiple ways using only my iPhone, but it seemed that I needed to clear the "stuck" download in both locations. Now I have 3 copies of the same song on my phone but as long as that message has gone away I'm a happy camper!

No update is ever forced on you. It's always the user's option to accept and install the update or not, which you apparently did. As John said, there is no supported way to go back to an earlier version of iOS, and that's been the case since the first iOS-based device came out these several years ago. If you want to comment to Apple on the issue, you can do so via their feedback page:

but I don't expect Apple to change, and almost certainly not in the near future. If you search the web, you'll find instructions that may work for downgrading, but you're on your own should any problems arise. For many people it goes without problems, but for some it's reportedly bricked their devices.

Now everytime I try to finish the update process I get a message " Apple ID couldn't be created because of a server error. I already have an apple ID I am just trying to finish the update so I can use my ipod touch and can not figure out why I keep getting held back at this message
So I found out with alittle research that instead of entering all that info on my ipod, security questions, birthday, ect that it was much easier to just go to http://appleid.apple.com and place all that info there and save it than try the process on my ipod and it finished the update.

Recently my iPod touch 4th gen. was stolen. I have had it for two years, so I don't have a warranty on it anymore. I reported it to the police, but what will apple do? This one kid reported to them that his was stolen and they gave him a new one. Will they do the same for me? Is there any other way I can get all my pictures from my iPod without iCloud set up? After updating to iOS 6 my iPod Touch 4th.Gen is virtually unusable ... does anyone know how to sue Apple since they gave no warning about iOS 6 being for iPad optimisation and a killer for iPods ?
