Apple ID's and Two Individuals

Not sure if this is the right area for this, but here it goes:
My partner and I have both had iPhones for years.  I have had an AppleID since day 1 and use all apple services and have Mac computers.  We both have iPhones and up until recently, just used both almost identically, and actually she barely used any services.  But now she has an iPhone 4s, and I have an iPhone 4... she wants my password to my AppleID so she can download apps etc.
The ISSUE.
With my password basically she has full access to my account, which could potentially mean getting into my email, account etc.  I recently changed it so that its not my universal password and gave it to her.  But I am still not cloud syncing her phone because she has seperate contacts and calandar events that should not merge with mine.
The QUESTION.
How do we both have seperate accounts on two phones, where we can buy our own apps with our own money.  Our own songs and other content as well, but at the same time, share all our content?  I'd like her to be able to cloud sync and have access to all apple features etc, but dont want her synced with my contacts or have access to my mail etc.
Is this even possilbe?
I was thinking you could have seperate 'users' under one iCloud account, but I dont see any options on icloud.com to add or do anything.
Thanks in advance.
Any and all help giving would be great, sorry its verbose, but I dont want a quick answer like 'make her an apple id' which doesnt answer my question.  Also I have nothing private she cant see, but I just dont want our stuff merged.  But we have both purches our libraries together and equally own everything.  We do of course both live in same household and are a 'family' (i.e. girlfriend of years).

You can't do exactly what you want, but you can sync your own email, calendars contacts etc etc but both still have access to the same iTunes account.
Firstly the Account for the iTunes store can be different than the one you use for data syncing, so in that sense you will be able to keep your information private as you want.
You can also of course each have your own iTunes store account which would mean you use your own money to purchase music, video, books, apps etc etc, however you can not then both use each others content (you can homeshare music) and at least one of you want have any access to any purchases made before the split.
You might consider an Apple ID each for iCloud sync services, but make the best of the situation with iTunes content.

We have two apple ID's and two libraries.  My daughter's iPOD is syncing with my library and we really want to go to just one library--Mine for ease and we can't figure out how to do it.  Please help!!!

Apple does not transfer content bought with one Apple ID to another Apple ID. Apple will not merge two Apple IDs.
If most of your content was bought with the Yahoo! Apple ID but you now want the Gmail address for your Apple ID, the trick will be to change the address used for the Yahoo ID with the Gmail address. However, to do that you must first free the Gmail address from that other Apple ID. Use the instructions from Apple to substitute another address that is not used as an Apple ID for your Gmail address in the Apple ID with the Gmail address. Then, when the Gmail address is no longer used in an Apple ID, you can use the same instructions to substitute the Gmail address for the Yahoo address in the Apple ID with the Yahoo address.

  • My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts?

My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts? We want to be able to share my itunes library on both our phones and sync our calendars, but I don't want every update and reminder that my wife puts in her phone and I know she doesn't want every reminder I put in my phone.

What you need to do is both use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but separate Apple ID's for everything else. So, you keep your existing Apple ID. If not a verifiable email address, you will need to create a new Apple ID for yourself. You also create an Apple ID for your wife, again a verifiable email address. You use the existing Apple ID for all iTunes content. The new Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Here's how to create an Apple ID:

  • I have two apple ID passwords and two devices when I try to use my account/password it asks for the other account that I don't have the password to. Can update or buy anything. Can you help ?

I have one computer and one iTunes library and two devices hooked up to it. But I have to apple IDs a different one for each of the two devices. When I try to buy or update something using my account and password it asks for the other account password so I can buy or update anything. I can log into this website using my accountant it recagnizes me but i still can't get it to work on the App Store . I don't know I'f this matters but I just updated to iOS 6 and then tried it and it wouldn't work. Before I updated it , when I would try to get an app or something it would still  ask me for the other password , but if I pushed cancel then it would ask me do mine and then it would work , but it doesn't do that anymore. If I push cancel it just cancels and does nothing. I hope you can give me some suggestions, I really need your help:)

  • I have two apple ids somehow, probably from two mobile and two computers - how do I merge them into one account so they all work with iCloud?

Somewhere, somehow, between two mobile and two macs, I ended up with two apple ids. I figured that this was the root of my problem to syncing. So, I am syncing Mail, Contacts, etc through the one account that I bought storage on this year in iCloud. I want to merge the two accounts, since many of my apps were purchased with my other id. Apparently, Keynote will not merge files since the app was bought with the second id, not the id I am using for icloud.
What to do??? I read, in the forums, that I am definitely not alone. I always had the id I used for the Apple Store to buy iTunes items, and then apps. The other id, that I am using for iCloud was based on my iDisk id, and apparently I set up as a separate account. The much failed iDisk account appears to be the one that I wish I never got involved with. Should I feel the same way about iCloud. If I cannot merge the two APPLE accounts from the same person (ME!!!), then many dropbox really is the answer for my file sharing needs.
    Please help me decide.

To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
To go back to your question; you cannot merge accounts, but perhaps using one account for iCloud and the other for iTunes will resolve the majority of the reasons you needed to merge to begin with.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.

  • HT204053 What are the pros and cons of 1) choosing to use the SAME Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or 2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

  • Have two apple id's and one won't reset pw

I have two AppleID's setup and when one gets locked out, I go to the Apple Support site and enter the ID information but I never receive the email confirmation to reset it.  I have checked both registered emails and I don't seem to get anything from Apple.
    This is a reoccuring problem.
    Help please!

All content and data is forever associated with the Apple ID you used to download it. You should have reset the password for the original I'd.

  • Two Apple ID's and the cloud future

I am hoping that someone can help me understand what the future will hold for my "Apple ID" situation.  I still use my original Apple ID that was set up in the early days to purchase music through the iTunes store.  This is still my AppStore ID, iTunes Store ID and the main way that Apple recognizes me for support, etc.  All of my family's devices (laptops, iPods, iPads, and iPhones access the iTunes Store and App Store using this ID).
But when MobileMe started, I purchased a Family account that we now all use to sync our individual data, and share calendars through Mobile Me.  In the near future, when the iCloud service begins, will the fact that I have these two Apple ID's effect the way that and we "auto-update" all or our devices with software updates, but at the same time sync our music, photos (via photostream) and use the future imessage service, etc?
So far these two parallel worlds have functioned well, but I have no idea what will happen when there is more sharing of data from both worlds...
I know that its my fault for having these two Apple ID's, and that they cannot be consolidated, but I'm real confused at how they will all "get along"??

I recommend sending this feedback up to Apple. This site is a user-to-user site. No Apple employees really pay attention to this.
