Apple ID Security questions are correct - Apple says incorrect - cant proceed with purchases

When trying to purchase apps from the app store, I am prompted with security questions, which I answer correctly. I then get a response that the answers given are incorrect, when in fact they are correct. It is now telling me that my account will be blocked given the incorrect answers inserted (they are the correct answers) on multiple attempts.
This is very frustrating, please assist!

When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
The issue with the security questions is that you must answer them exacly as you entered them. You may be giving the correct information, but in a slightly different form from how you originally configured them.
For example;
Q. What is the name of your high school?
A. Sarasota High School.
So the only correct and acceptable answer is Sarasota High School, not Sarasota, Sarasota High or Sarasota Senior High, etc..

    Start here, and reset your security questions, you will receive an email to your rescue address, then go to manage your account > Password and Security and set your security questions.

    Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    Do they launch OK while in Safe Mode?

  • May I just begin by saying that the security questions are ridiculous. Is there an ITunes support person I can email?

    We are just Apple users here, but I strongly disagree with your contention that the security questions are ridiculous.  It makes perfect sense to have a question like "What color was your first car?" or "What was your maternal grandmother's first name?" These are questions that you would know the answer to but I would not.

    You cannot change your Rescue email address after you have forgotten your Security Questions. Once you get everything reset, you will be able to change it. For now, you are going to have to contact Apple Support to get them reset:

      2. Under Product Categories choose iTunes;
      3. Then choose iTunes Store;

      5. Now choose iTunes Store Security and answer the bullet questions, then click

    Another user had success doing the following:
    I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
    Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
      a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
          tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
      b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
          "done", in the upper right corner
      c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
          Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
          should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
          security questions.
      d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
          selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
          should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
          questions.
    It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.
