Apple ID Trouble

Today I created a brand new apple ID using a brand new email account.  The apple ID created correctly and I was asked to verify the account.  When I went to verify, I got a message that says "This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID".  This is not possible because I just created the email account.  Anyone have any ideas?  I am working on setting up 60 ipads and really don't have the 48 hours it says that it will take for apple to get back to me.

There is another thread adressing this issue.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3503274?tstart=0
It is nothing that you are doing wrong, there is a problem with Apples verification server. Nobody at Apple has confirmed this, but I'm sure they are working on a fix.

  • WAP561 - Apple Bonjour trouble

    Hello,
I have two access point WAP561 with the last firmware ( 1.0.4.4). I have big trouble with apple Imac & Macbook.
    -Apple disconnecting
-Bonjour Discover didn't work after 2 days
I must reboot every 2 days the AP for workaround the problem.
I had try new settings :
    -disable Green ethernet mode
    -Fix Multicast rate
    -Fix channel
    -Disable Bonjour
The bonjour discover still not working after 2 days ...
    Thanks for your help

What do you mean with bonjour discover exactly? airplay?
We have Bonjour enabled on all access points and airplay devices show up fine (though sometimes it can take a bit).
Try upgrading to the latest firmware 1.1.0.4 and re-enable bonjour on the access point and leave Green ethernet disabled.

  • Apple Mail trouble.  Can't drag, can't delete.

All of a sudden yesterday, I couldn't drag emails to subordinate mail boxes.  Now, a day later, I can't even delete emails to the trash.  I am running Apple Mail 7.1 and have OS X Mavericks version 10.9.1. and made no changes to settings or updates prior to this problem.  I tried clearing browser history and the downloads window and that didn't help.  Help, please.

Sorry to hear you had the same problem, dannymo54 but I hope you don't give up.  I finally called Apple support and they said there was a current "issue" affecting Apple mail.  She said to wait a day or two and use iCloud mail (through the Safari browser) in the meantime.  Two days later, Apple Mail started working properly for me.  Go figure.  It left me wondering if I was one of the few or if millions were affected.  Guess I'll never know.

  • Apple Mail trouble sending messages

I added my Slippery Rock University account to the apple mail server and all of my messages showed up, but when I try to send an email it says there is something wrong with the server and it will not send. How can I fix this?
All of the information I needed was right here: http://www.sru.edu/academics/iats/SupportServices/RSCHD/Documents/RockMailConfig .pdf
    Did I do something wrong?

    1)  In the Menu bar under Window select Connection Doctor.
Do you see red lights? If yes, most likely you need to enter your passwords.
If you see all green lights your connections are good.
You can also open the Activity window under Window to see the messages as they download.
    2) Create a Smart folder. Under Mailbox in the Menu bar select New Smart Mailbox.
Create a new folder to see messages recevied today (include the trash)
Do you see the messages now? If yes, we need to see where the messages are filed.
What email provider? (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Earthlink, Comcast, ATT, other)

  • New Apple User - Trouble with External Hard Drive

I am not very good with computers so hopefully this is a simple task. I just purchased my first mac, a MacBook for college. I bought a Seagate FreeAgent 160 GB drive with the intent of using it for time machine back ups and also for storing my music. I am wondering how or if this is possible.
    So far I have:
    - Transferred all my music from my PC to the hard drive no problem.
    - I tried to set up Time Machine it said I had to delete everything from the Seagate drive in order to use it.
    - I then copied all my files off of the hard drive to my Macbook's HD.
    - Found out I also need to reformat my Seagate drive to Mac format.
Now I am wondering how to go about all of this and find out if its possible to store my music files on my hard drive as well as use it to for TM. I was thinking I can just move all my music back to the Seagate after TM erases it...would that work or is TM back-ups the only thing you can have on a drive?
    Thank you!

    Larko,
Generally speaking, you'll need an external hard drive with a capacity that is at least twice the size of the space being used on your internal hard drive. So, if you only have around 30 GBs of data on your new Macbook, you'll need at least 60 GBs for Time Machine. I'm going to state, though, that you'll probably end up using something more like 50 GBs on your Macbook's hard drive, so plan on using around 100 GBs for Time Machine.
Now, what you'll need to do first is format the external drive using Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility). In Disk Utility's "source list" at the left side of the window, select your external drive (not the named "volume" that will appear indented below it), then switch to the "Erase" tab. Erasing the entire hard drive will re-write the partition map, using the Apple "GUID" partition scheme (required for use with Time Machine).
If you want to store additional files on the external, that's OK. However, it is recommended that instead of storing both your Time Machine backup and your "personal" files on the same volume, that you partition the drive with 2 partitions. This will allow you to store the Time Machine backup in isolation on its own volume, and your "personal" files on the second. Disk Utility will handle this, too. Instead of erasing, switch to the "Partition" tab, use the pull-down menu to select 2 partitions, adjust the sizes according to your needs, then click "Partition."
I recommend that you size the first partition (for use with Time Machine) at 100 GBs, and the second with the remainder (which will end up being about 40 GBs).
You can certainly store that 10 GBs of music separately, but wouldn't it be best to import it into iTunes? If you do import it, or if it is kept on your Macbook in some other place, it will be backed up by Time Machine.

  • APPLE ID TROUBLE. I NEED PREVIOUS OWNERS APPLE ID TO RE-INSTALL MAC OSX ON MY COMPUTER =-PLEASE HELP-=

So 2-3 weeks ago I was deleting some files off my Macbook Pro. All of the sudden my computer crashed, and switched the
language, and the screen was flashing. After trying to fix it, and figuring out the problem, I could not figure it out so I decided to re-
install MAC OSX. I erased my whole hardrive and went to the title screen. It wanted me to enter my APPLE ID, but it wanted me to
enter the apple id that was for the PREVIOUS owner. Which I had no clue (it also wanted the password.) So now I am stuck.
I don't know if I should take it to the apple store or what, but this is very annoying. I really need someone's help. Please help me!
    Thankyou, God Bless

    ralph40,
when you bought your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro from the person on Craigslist, did you also receive two grey installation DVDs with it? They would have originally came in the box with your MacBook Pro; one has a bootable version of Mac OS X for your model (either 10.5.7 or 10.6.0, depending upon when it was manufactured), and the other has your model’s Apple Hardware Test and its iLife apps. If you didn’t receive these two grey installation discs from the seller, then you can purchase a replacement pair from Apple.
If you have either the two grey installation DVDs or the white retail Snow Leopard DVD, and your internal disk is now completely erased (including its recovery partition), then you can reïnstall Mac OS X from the DVD, and associate the MacBook Pro with your Apple ID, which will end the association with the previous owner’s Apple ID. Once Mac OS X is reïnstalled, run Software Update to get to 10.5.8 (from 10.5.7) or 10.6.8 (from the grey 10.6.0 disc or the white 10.6.3 disc), If you’d installed 10.5.7, then you’ll need to install Snow Leopard from the white retail disc to get yourself to 10.6.8. Once you have 10.6.8 installed, you can then download Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks through the Mac App Store if you wish.
If any of the apps on your MacBook Pro had been purchased through the previous owner’s Apple ID, then note that you’ll need to purchase them yourself through your own Apple ID, since apps downloaded through the Mac App Store (including, but not limited to, Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks) are non-transferable. Any apps that were purchased through the Mac App Store using your own Apple ID will be redownloadable gratis by holding down an Option key when you select the Purchased tab.

  • Application/Apple ID Trouble

I have recieved an Iphone 4s.  The previous owner had downloaded applications that need to be updated. I can not update the applications because the app store is still asking for the previous owners apple ID. I have gone to settings > itunes & app store and logged my own personal apple ID into the phone but I am still not able to update the applications. The app store is still asking for the previous owners apple ID even after logging the new ID into the phone. Any help?

The very first thing you should have done is to erase the iPhone and restore as new.
This way any virus's, malware, hack's will not get your info.
Also, you can be assured that only your apps will be on the device.
Settings > General > Erase > Erase All Content & Settings.
    Then Setup as new.

  • Can two different apple id's use one iTunes account?

When we first purchase apple products (me and hubby!) we used one apple id account and i downloaded all our music and purchased a lot more. Since then i have purchased my own iPhone and set it up with a different apple id - trouble is i cannot access any of the music   When i tried to sync with our mac all that happened is that our messages, contacts, emails, photos, notes and diaries etc all transferred and became a right pickle - we kept getting each others texts?!  Can i access it if i set up iTunes match?  And if i do that will it copy everything else across as it did before?  Please help, all i want to do is access all the music i organised!

  • Constant restarts after upgrade but apple wont do anything.

    Hello all
I have been having a difficult issue that it seems apple has trouble fixing and so has everyone Ive talked to as well.  I tried the MBP section with no luck so Im going to try here.
After upgrading to Maverick from snow leopard I have started getting GPU panics at a rate of 1 or 2 a week when I had none before the upgrade to Maverick.  I do have a 2010 MBP 15in which I knew could have bad gpu's but I had my laptop checked for the TS4088 error after the first 2 panics.  My machine tested good and passed the VST test or atleast that is what I asked to have run at the store basically i told them i wanted it tested for the ts4088 issue.   Now I gave them the fact of the matter as the first 2 panic seemed to happen in the same application(garrys mod), but now there is no pattern in applications(mail, quicktime, vlc, firefox, word, Premiere).  I have also been having the computer go black recently with no luck getting to wake up as if its forced to sleep but doesn't respond to any commands to wake it back up but also doesn't cause an official crash report to show up.
Now I have reset the SMC/PRAM and updated everything on the system and run a HDD smart test and memory test which all passed.  Now I know the logitech driver doesnt cause the crash as i dont have it installed on my windows/bootcamp side and I get the equivalent of a gpu panic as the kernel crashes on the nvidia card when its active and nothing fixes that as well.
Now i have seen using the gfxCardStatus should fix my issue but I need to use my nvida card for video editing and shot rendering so i cant be stuck on the internal.  I have also exceeded the 3 year length as I was trying to see if i could fix my laptop before handing it over as I cant be without a laptop as they are required for my classes and job at college and since it passed the VST the genius said I would have to pay for the more detailed inspection by the backroom tech's which at the time I didnt want to pay to fail a class.   I showed him the logs but as I only had 2 at the time he told be it must have been that application and sent me on my way as I didnt want to pay for more inspection maybe the tech just too busy as our store is always packed.
This hasn't been my first logic board failure either I had the first go out the first year when the USB  bus gave out from what im guessing was some surge caused by my power brick shorting out internally and almost catching fire.
Here is my most recent crash log this is the exact same message ive been getting for each crash.

So is it possible to past the VST but still have a bad GPU?  I have tried everything I can come up with with no luck so far without resorting to tearing down the laptop and having to inspect the boards with some of my EE friends.   Would running the test again help?

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • TS5150 How can I restore sound to video content streamed to my apple tv?  Used to have sound but now do not.

I have no sound when I stream videos to my apple tv.  That is a problem when trying to stream concerts or anything.  I downloaded the latest updates, but no change.  I used to be able to do this no problem.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I followed the apple support trouble shooting guidance  but it did not help any.

Check Sky's website - I believe they prevent the video streaming in the app (as do several other companies, possibly due to rights issues beyond logic).

  • Cannot see Apple TV in iTunes

Help!.. Cannot see Apple TV in iTunes...
Have Dell PC running Windows 7 64-bit Prof. Hard-wired into d-link wireless router/modem.
Followed all Apple TV trouble shooting advice to no avail. As a final resort have even fully reinstalled PC operating system and still cannot see the device.
As a test Apple TV was found over the same wireless network by my laptop running XP - so I am sure it is not an Apple TV or network fault.
Has anyone got any adive pls?

had the same problem. The following was found in another thread on ATV disappearing from iTunes. It was posted by Cima113. I tried it. It brings ATV back in iTunes. Mine has been fine now for a month. I hope this helps someone.
    (Copied part starts here)
It appears the best and only known solution for the AppleTV issue (windows) isn’t actually iTunes build 9.1.0.79. After the helpful postings to this thread it appears that the recent update of Bonjour is the actual culprit. Users experiencing this issue (Apple TV stopped appearing in iTunes 9.1.0.79) should try the following if your setup stopped working after iTunes 9.1.0.79.
    1) Uninstall Bonjour version 2 :
    Start> control panel>> uninstall a program>>> Select Bonjour>>>> Uninstall
    2) RESTART your computer!!!
    3) Open iTunes…
You should get a message that Bonjour is missing… This is what you want.
*While you have iTunes open make sure “Find AppleTV’s” is selected in iTunes, under:
Edit> Preferences>> Apple TV tab>>> Check box bottom.
(The above step must wait until after you install Bonjour 1.0.6, restart and open iTunes. This option is noy available while Bonjour is not installed)
    4) Close iTunes.
    5) Install Bonjour 1.0.6 (reputable download site: Cnet’s Download.com see below)
    http://download.cnet.com/Bonjour-for-Windows/3000-18507_4-93550.html
    6) RESTART your computer!!!!
    7) Open iTunes
    8) Start AppleTV and …
    Go to: Settings> Computers>> locate the “iTunes/Add library” option>>>
Go to PC and Enter code in iTunes.
Restarting after uninstall AND install are critical!!

  • Installation error with 9.2 deleting older version of Apple Software Update

Have tried installing directly from Apple.com and have tried downloading and
then installing. Get the error with either method. Have even tried to install
Quick Time standalone directly and from a Quick Time download with same error.
I've even tried ALL Apple's trouble shooting methods to no avail. When I attempt to remove most of the programs with windows the error received is network resource is unavailable. Even when I remove/delete etc following Apple's trouble shooting I hit a brick wall and am hoping for advice/solutions.

When I attempt to remove most of the programs with windows the error received is network resource is unavailable.
Doublechecking, Mister Russell. Is it also saying that the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi is missing?

  • How to learn to self-service Apple computers.

    Hi everyone!
I'd like to learn how to service my own and my friends' Apple computers and figure out what's wrong with them. I found a bunch of training titles on OSX (http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/R34M2923941JWY/102-6726532-4 460127?%5Fencoding=UTF8), but not on the internal stuff. These books are huge! Does anyone know if you can get them for free as ebook PDFs from apple? I found one version here (http://www.chmpdf.com/book/apple-training-series-mac-os-x-system-administration- reference-volume-1-apple-training--1916/), but when I try to download it tells me to disable ad-blocking software (even when I turn mine off!).
In other words, if I call Apple and tell them that my computer's acting funny and I've repaired permissions and done all the standard stuff, what do THEY do when they get it? How do they learn what to do when they get it?
    Thank you!
    Alec

The problem with Mac's is that they don't tend to use separate component parts. Apple likes to integrate everything into the logic board when they can.
So, troubleshooting a Mac is going to require a good foundation in electrical diagnostics.
Since you won't be replacing video cards, sound cards, etc., you'll need to know how to troubleshoot on the circuit level and how to determine specifically which chip, capacitor, resistor, etc. has failed.
With this level of trouble-shooting, a book on Macs is less useful than an education in electronic circuitry.
Your best friends would be an Oscilloscope, logic probe, and multi-tester.
A working knowledge of how circuits work, how to know if a chip is good by reading the hi / low state of a pin, and knowing what type of activity you are supposed to see on each pin, etc. are going to be much more useful in these types of repairs.
Basically, you are looking at replacing specific parts that are defective as opposed to replacing the controller card that is defective.
So, this requires a lot more specialized tools and knowledge.
You'll also need a soldering station, a desoldering pump. And, some of the finer soldering tools to work with surface-mount IC chips.
In short, you're not going to learn all this out of book that deals with Macs. No one actually works on this level anymore in the consumer computer field. So, your best educators are going to be people who work with electronics as a hobby. Those who work with micro-controllers, those who build their own electrical devices and even their own micro-computers. That's an entirely different field.
I've worked with components on that level, and even designed my own devices, etc. But, it's been a while. And, your best teacher is going to be time and tinkering.
You'll need some good detailed book on electronic circuits (which are generally older publications, and a few thousand pages in size), and all the right tools.
Now, when it comes down to just replacing larger components such as hard drives, airport cards, CD-ROM drives, etc., you can do that. But, almost everything else is going to be a circuit on the main logic board.
For disassembly information, you can refer to the documents at:
    http://www.apple.com/support/diy/
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/
Apple does have some guides that detail disassembly and replacement of all the systems for their techs. And, you'll find them on the Internet. But, they are considered private property of Apple. So, therefore anyone who gets caught hosting them usually gets shut down. So, I can't provide you with any links here. It would result in having this topic deleted.
But, there are also training programs you can enter to become certified by Apple to trouble-shoot and repair their systems. But, you do need to understand that the kind of repair you'll be trained to do, is just replace the major component that failed.
This would mean that they would train you to just replace the entire logic-board rather than the part of the logic-board that failed.
With this type of service, you are basically looking at replacing the logic-board anytime the failure isn't the hard drive, CD-ROM drive, memory, or an external part. Even the AirPort and BlueTooth are integrated on the logic-board on the newer systems.
    Good luck with your training
    I hope this helps.
