Apple IIe + VisiCalc Question

Years ago a family member used an Apple IIe (which is still functional including 5.25" floppy drives, printer, etc) to create some personal financial files with VisiCalc - the spreadsheet of choice at the time. We can read the files on the IIe and even print them out - but it would help a great deal if we could somehow convert them or import them into either Appleworks or Microsoft Excel. Does anyone know how we can do this? A friend said "save the files as a text file on the IIe and then it can be imported into another machine." Is that true?

Well, sure, it's true. But you need a way to get the data off the Apple IIe and onto a more "modern" platform. There are lots of ways to go about that, mostly depending upon the hardware you have available to you. Your options include:
* Connecting the Apple II to a PC or Mac via a serial link and transmitting (text) files using a telecomms program on either end
* Connecting the Apple II to a PC or Mac via a serial link and transferring physical floppies to virtual floppies (http://adtpro.sourceforge.net, http://adt.berlios.de).

If you have a 3.5" floppy attached to the IIe (probably not altogether likely, but...) you can copy your files to the 3.5" floppy, go through an intermediate 800k floppy drive on an old Mac, then finally transfer up to the most modern computer you have. See:

And that just gets the data from the Apple IIe onto the computers you use today. If it's already in text form, you're probably good to go to insert into a new spreadsheet. It's unlikely that the native VisiCalc format will be readable by anything you have now, though.

Hello,
As my son has become a real Apple fan, I recovered my ( bought 2nd hand 1988 ) Apple IIe from the attic, where I stored it about 20 years ago, ( along with a 1981 Osborne 1). Whan I stored it, it worked fine.
Everything, computer, 2 drives and printer seem ok and are running.
One problem though with the screen. As you will see in the picture, there is something wrong with the characters. It displays twice the upper half of a character io. the character itself.
( The display is a CRT display Mod # BM-12ES, made in Japan ).
Known problem ? A solution ?

Referring to the above mentioned question. I found a floppy “ Apple presents Apple “.
I ran it and, as you will see in the picture, everything is legible.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Hi! So I haven't used iTunes in a few months but I just got an iTunes gift card and want to make a purchase. iTunes redeemed it just fine but now that I want to make a purchase I am having problems. I can't remember my security question answers and iTunes is requesting them. I have two other verified emails but the are NOT rescue emails. I can't contact iTunes over the phone because my phone lines are out and are going to be out for a long time. The only way I can contact them is by email. How can I do this? Is there an easy way to just reset all my security questions? Please help a girl out. I just want my music!

Hey guys,
I'm trying to reset my Apple ID secret questions, everytime I click on reset by email, it prompts me an email has been sent to ur email "*****@hotmail.con" but I never receive anything definitely cause the extension is giving ".con" and not ".com"
Does anyone has a solution for the issue or faced it before, or how do I contact apple to point that there has been a programming error on the website preventing me from being able to reset my secret questions that I don't remember !!!

can anyone help me on how to reset my apple ID security questions. i dont have a recovery email. all the steps are very complicated.i have tried reset-ing my password and all but the security question is still the same.

You mentioned that 'Apple put the AirPrint spec out there for all printer makers'. I've been looking around but I haven't found any spec. Where did you find it?
Do printer makers have to buy a license in order to be able to advertise that they've implemented the AirPrint protocol? Is there maybe an Apple review process in place?

I'm trying to purchase an app but I have forgotten my security questions but when I ask for a reset questions email it automatically sends it to an old email address I no longer have any help is much appreciated

1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.

6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.

HT201303 How to change Apple ID security questions

I received and email saying my Apple ID security questions/answers had changed. I immediately changed my Apple ID password... and again the next day had to change it again because it would not work when trying to update apps on my Iphone.
So here is the problem... I see no place to change my security questions/answers on any of the webpages and contacting Apple support from my current location is impossible outside of email/webpages. And there in lies the problem with Apple support... online/email support is non-existent. But enough of my complaining about that.
Does anyone know how to go about changing Apple ID security questions/answers?

Sign in when prompted then click on password and security on the left. If you'll answer the questions correctly, you'll see the questions and other infos on the page.
One more thing, I don't think we can give our own questions like before. You can contact support for more info.
