Apple iMac 5k late 2014 and Lightroom 5.7 very slow

Hello forum,
I bought a brandnew Apple iMac 27" 5k with 32 GB RAM, i7 processor with 4 GHz and the 4 GB graphic engine.
I'm using Lightroom since I have heared that Apple will stop supporting Aperture.
With my older iMac (late 2012) there was no problems with Lightroom.
Now with my brandnew and not cheap iMac I have great performance problems.
The cut- and rotate function (Cmd + R) is horrible slow and ruckelig.
Is somebody here to help me?
In the Adobe suportcenter I havn't found a telephonenumber, only the possibility to write down my problems here.

I too, have iMac 2014; 4Hz; 32GB; 5K, having up until that point worked on a late '09 2.66GHz iMac - I could have bought a Mac Pro....or anything on offer.
But, this purchase was the result of my going into the Apple Store and having two lengthy discussions/consultations with the Business Team, the sole objective of having them, the experts, specify the best Mac for me and my requirements i.e. to all intents and purposes, operating at 'click speed'.
The team was in full possession of my workflow, the software I used, the file sizes etc. etc......even though it is optimised, I still find my iMac disappointingly slow for the money spent. It boots up quickly enough, and somedays appears to perform better than others, but still I find lags in cropping, loading, using sliders, previews. Other than what I would call slow processing, the most annoying issue is a lag when I use any slider - click on the slider and the image darkens for a second before returning to the setting values. Move the slider and the image darkens slightly, but after a second will return the new value of the new setting. It is impossible to make fine, smooth, real-time adjustments.
BTW, works fine with PS6.
Tried phoning Adobe Customer Support.......no point.
Tried 'Chat'.....no point.

I have a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 16 GB's of RAM. I recently upgaded to Mountain Lion and have been having significant speed issues since. since installing the new operating system everything seems to be freezing up and buffering. My web browser buffers when I open it, and I can barely work in Photoshop, which was working great before the upgrade.

I am have the exact same problem.If found when looking in the app's application and then purchased app under Mountain lion it just states downloaded not installed.What I was wondering if you go into the app application and under purchased app look at Mountain lion does it state downloaded or install. I was wondering if I need to uninstall both loin and mountain lion and then try to install them again. This all started this March when I downloaded mountain line and you're the first person that I've read that is having the same problem I'm have. if I find the answer to our problem I will notify you and please notify me to find the answer to our problem.

Everything works fine BUT it is an old computer and I'm thinking that it may pack up unexpectedly. These things happen. I want to sign up for the Photography plan but I also have a Windows Vista laptop, and that is old too so I may want to put the apps on a new desktop and a new laptop, having already installed on my desktop. That makes three activations. Am I allowed to do this? Cheers. Paul

You cannot have three activations. It's simply not technically possible. If and when the time comes, you simply deactivate/ sign out on one of the old systems and install on the new one. If the system goes belly up, you contact support to reset your account. No need to make it more complicated than that and overthink it.

Adobe CC - Post Update Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom 5.5 not working

After long time of running Photoshop CC & Lightroom 5, I decided to update to latest versions through Creative Cloud Manager. The latest versions available where New Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom 5.5.
After nearly 2 GB of download, both the applications got installed. Now following are the issues I am facing.
Once Photoshop CC 2014 is launched, it loads and after few seconds, it closes.
I try to load LightRoom 5.5 and nothing happens.
Following are the diagnostics on my side.
Logged out from Creative Cloud and logged in again. -> Same effect
Logged out from Creative Cloud, Uninstalled the apps, Logged in into the Creative Cloud App, Installed the apps - > Same effect and wasted another 2GB of bandwidth.
Uninstalled again, During trying to re-install, copied the installers from the %temp% folders for both the app, Installed using standalone installer. -> Photoshop CC 2014 = same effect, LightRoom 5.5 = asking for serial !! Strange !!
Following is my machine Configuration
Windows 8.1 Pro 64 BIT
Intel i7 4th Gen
16 GB RAM
120GB SSD with 25 GB Free Space
Need Adobe to help me out.

I realize is only 512MB of memory but I want to make sure that a new iMac will solve this problem. Can the new iPhoto handle 10GB or more of photos? Or do I have to go to Picasa anyways in which case I can buy any computer to do that?

The model of Mac is not partcularly relevant, it's the version of the OS and iPhoto that matter.
iPhoto - since 2006 - is good for 250,000 images.

When I upgrade to yosemite, when I have to send and receive mail is very slow. Mails take a long time to be send and receive, and the mail boxes disconnect frequently. I am using the yosemite mail server and don't have this issue with user with Maverick.

So let me see if I understood it right... In Mavericks you didn't had this issue, this only happens in Yosemite and you are using Apple Mail, not another mail client. Have you tried in System Preferences > Internet Accounts unchecking and rechecking the email checkbox on your account?? If that doesn't works try deleting and adding your account.

No, downgrading the iOS version is not supported by Apple.
You could see if any of the following improve things :
- closing apps via the iPad's taskbar : iOS: Force an app to close.
- if having problems with Safari, clearing its history and data : Settings > Safari
- soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
- backing up (and copying any purchases over to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases) and restoring
- adjusting settings e.g. turning 'reduce motion' on (Settings > General > Accessibility), turning off 'background app refresh (Settings > General), turn off multitasking gestures (Settings > General)
- resetting back to factory defaults (after copying off purchases and any documents, photos etc that you want to keep) and then resyncing it back

Since you've already run PSE, go into the Saved Application States folder and delete any for PSE.
Repair permissions and try again.
Also go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and be sure everything there is off (except face recognitiion, if you use that).

I am having the same problem. Did turning off iCloud work? Did you just turn everything off or did you actually delete the account off your iPod?

It would help to give us more information about your computer. Go to your User's Library folder. (if you don't know how to find, see this link.)
Scroll to Mail folder.
Select the V2 > MailData folder.
Delete any files in MailData with envelope in the name. (should be 3)
When you open Mail it will re-index your files.
If you have IMAP accounts, you might want to delete the accounts then add back so they download all messages from the server again.

Photoshop cc 2014 and lightroom doesn't work

I need your help.
Installed Photoshop and Lightroom as trial today.
Since 5 hrs I try to make them work and I am close of loosing my patience.
I have a laptop, windows 7, 64 bit.
Updated all the drivers.
Installed and deinstalled the products couple times.
Signed in and out of the cloud. And still having the same problem:
PS starts up normal and after few seconds just closes.
No error message. Then the message if I still want to use my trial pops up.
Lightroom doesn't start at all. After few seconds the trial message showes up.
What can I do?
I need the PS for my work.
Checked the crash reports and fixed the driver.
Also checked the aministrativ status.
Checked also numerous help from other users with the same issue and also YouTube.
Still having the problem.

None of my "Edit In" worked with the pictures in Lightroom for a particular folder. I expanded the 2014 folder and found that two subfolders had a "?" in front of the 2014-07-04" and another. In other words, the folder was missing. After I found the missing folders using the Lightroom "Find Missing Folder" option, I was able to use the "Edit In" menu item. The 2014 folders weren't expanded at first, so I didn't see the ? marks in front of them. With the missing folders, Lightroom's "Edit In" option was basically telling me there was no picture to "Edit In." Howerver, I have Previews and Smart Previews made when I import picture files into Lightroom. So, the "pictures" showed in the slide strip on the bottom, and also in the display in "expand," but it was actually only showing the previews I had built, not the actual missing pictures in the missing folders. I had accidentally moved some directories using Windows Explorer, and I didn't realize my "happy fingers" moved them outside of Lightroom. Of course, Lightroom has no way of knowing I moved them, and just shows the "?" before the missing folder name. After expanding the root folder, then knew what to do. Fixed it easily. It was frustrating, and took about 20 minutes to see the problem. And that fixed the greyed-out "Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014, and all the other plug-ins were greyed out too.

iTunes syncing generally goes one way, from the iTunes library on the computer to the iPod.
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your Mac's iTunes library.
If you still have access to your old computer with your previous iTunes library, a more complete way to transfer your iTunes library is from computer to computer. You can post back if this is possible and you want to do it.
