Apple in ID when ordering from Aperture

I used Aperture to order a photobook for the first time today.
Aperture asked for my Apple ID and PW, which I entered using the pair I have been using for the iTunes store.
Then the next screen showed "Create a New Account".
Based on the pre-entered info in some of the fields on this "Create a New Account" screen, it already got my info from my existing Apple, but it still wants to create a new account with another pair of Apple ID and PW.
Did others have the same experience, Aperture still wants to create a new account even though one already has an Apple ID established for the use in iTunes?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated! /Kenny

You can create a File Naming preset on Aperture to include a serial number after the original name, custom organize your pictures in your project, and export them to a folder. That should sort them independently of their original file name.

  • What is the best settings to use in the export manager when exporting from Aperture 3.5 to Photoshop cc.  tiff? psd? 16bit? dpi?

What are the best settings to use in the export manager when exporting from Aperture 3.5 to Photoshop cc for editing?
Should I use tiff or psd?
    8bit or 16bit?
    How many dpi?

That will depend on the photometric resolution of your originals. For jpegs it would be a waste of space to convert them to a higher resolution than 8bit, but if your images actually have already more than 8bit, you will want to preserve this quality. Then he 16bit format will help to prevent color clipping.
Both tiff and psd will preserve the lossless workflow. With Photoshop as external editor I would use he psd format for better support of layers and transparency, e.g., when you want to create watermark files.
The dpi will only matter, when you export the file for printing.

  • Cannot find picture when transferring from Aperture to PSE 11

Cannot find picture when transferring from Aperture to PSE 11
I have an older version of PSE and when I transferred a picture from Aperture to PSE9 it would open PSE9 and show the picture.
I set the Preps in Aperture for PSE 11 and the PSE 11 opens but no picture in the box or photo bin or in the top left "open".
I changed the Aperture setting to the PSE Organizer and the same thing happened Organizer open BUT there was no picture to be found.
In Aperture it shows the file being transferred.
I looked in the PSE 11 preps and file but could not find anything.
The fact that it opens the PSE 11 app tells me it is being recognized but the picture (file) is going somewhere else.
    Thanks

please can anbody help or advise?

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

There is also a good appendix on calibration:

  • IPad, iPhone image display order from Aperture

When I used to sync from iPhoto, the images were displayed in the same order as the iPhoto album.
Now that I'm syncing from Aperture, the images are being displayed in Filename order. How can I change it so the iPad displays in date order? Is there something I need to do when creating the album?

No, it just seems to be a bug. I have been reporting it to apple some months ago now i think.
It took them 2-3 weeks to understand the issue and aknowledge its a bug.
nothing has moved every since, i am pretty fed up because all my pictures are very mixed up
please do use the aperture-feedback page. i dont get the feeling apple is working on this issue.

  • 'Unable to quarantine' when exporting from Aperture to a NAS

I have scanned a lot of images as TIFF (approx 28.000), and they are on an External Drive, and I imported them into Aperture (3.3) as referenced files.
Now I want to have a a more workable environment, because the TIFF's are 140 MB each.
    So the idea is:
    - Export from Aperture to a NAS drive
    - Create a new Aperture Library and import them (again as referenced files)
The NAS is a WD MyBook Live Duo that is attached to my Time Machine.
The current Aperture Library and the future Aperture Library will be on my iMac's HD.
I just exported 405 images and in the log I see 405 times:
    1/3/13 9:29:34.000 PM kernel[0]: Aperture[54224] Unable to quarantine `/Volumes//Pictures/Modellen_Ref_Files/Mulder_Koosje/JHWA_9601M-25.jpg': 22 (error suppressed)
    (Time and filename differ ofcourse.)
However all 405 images were indeed exported.
    I read the thread :
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20274081#20274081
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20294802#20294802
    from Steffen4712
So before continuing with the rest of the 28.000 images I want to make sure that I will not run into problems.
So can somebody explain to me or point me to a discussion so that I can try and understand what this Quarantine thing is trying to do?
    Thanks,
    Jan

I managed to find a way to get things done without getting the error.
    Workflow from the start:
    - scanned negatives and stored them as TIFF files on an external HD
    - Started Aperture and imported them as referenced files
    - added keywords and adjustments
    I tried:
    - export them as JPG to a NAS drive
This give the error "Unable to quarantine  22 (error suppressed)"
    I tried :
    - remove extra attribute from TIFF file on external HD (using xattr -c)
    - export them as JPG to a NAS drive
This give the error "Unable to quarantine  22 (error suppressed)"
    I tried:
    - export them as JPG to my HD
    - remove extra attribute from JPG (using xattr -c)
    - switch to "new" Aperture Library and import them and choosing the NAS as place to store them
This give the error "Unable to quarantine  22 (error suppressed)"
    I tried:
    - export them as JPG to my HD
    - remove extra attribute from JPG (using xattr -c)
    - using Finder and copy them to temporary folder on my NAS
    - open "new" Aperture Library and import them and choosing the NAS as place to store them (effectively relocating them)
No errors were seen in the system.log
Conlusion, apparently Aperture wants to quarantine them when moving them to the NAS and Finder does not.

  • Terrible red color cast when printing from aperture

I have printed the same image from Iphoto as well as a windows machine and got very nice prints on my Epson R2880. However, every time i print from Aperture it comes out with a terrible red cast. I have tried the system managed colorsync profile as well as the generic one. (FWIW, B&W prints from Aperture on the R2880 come out very nice)
    Any other ideas?

    You may find it helpful.
Thanks, but if you look in the archives of the Apple ColorSync Users List, you'll find thousands of posts from his Mac dating back to the beginning of the List.
The principle is that you configure your device colour spaces to the largest gamut of which they are capable, calibrate them to a stable condition, characterise that condition in a measured test chart, and build ICC device profiles for those characterisations in your ICC profiling package of choice.
You then capture and correct colour with correct colour previews, resulting in normalised exposures in an ideal CIE colour space. With you normalised exposures, you convert into output condition 1, output condition 2, output condition n which is what repurposing is about.
But you do no apply a gamma change on top of the colour managed rendering. That is incorrect by definition. You apply your gamma change as part of the colour correction in order to get your normalised exposure.
If you imagine this in a prepress process, then you can forget the concept of determinate rendering which is the bedrock of the ICC architecture. If you as photographer do a gamma correction on top of your presentation print or proof print, then you can claim that you have a presentation print, but you cannot contractually claim that you have a proof print as your proof print is a colour correction on top of the colour management system. If Apple Aperture allows the user access to colour correction on top of colour management, then that is a bug in the application. Sorry ...

  • Hotmail Not Recognized When Ordering from Websites

Frequently when I try to order from a catalog website, it won't "take" my hotmail address. This only happens on my IPAD. The address is listed as my primaty address in the mail function. I have to use my IMAC to place an order.
The message tells me my e-mail address is not in the proper format. Thank you.

    Hi,
    On your iPad.
Tap Settings / Safari / Reset Safari.
Delete the cache / cookies and history.
Now tap Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars. On the right tap your hotmail account name under Accounts. Make sure you have the correct email address and password stored there.
    Restart your iPad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
    See if that helps...

  • Does AppleTV2 limit the number of photos it will display when streaming from Aperture when streaming to the TV?

I am new to AppleTV. I bought it and an iPad2 at about the same time. I've been an Aperture user for years but not so much lately. I am having fits with Aperture crashing as soon as I open it. I mean on the first click or before. I simply can't get into Aperture at all during the last 20 tries or so. I'm really rather freaked out about it. I have a wedding to upload and a few other recent events totally thousands of photos that I can't get off the SD cards. Thankfully I'm not a professional but my niece is anxious to see her photos nonetheless.
I don't know if the galleries in MobileMe even exist anymore but that was my idea as an alternative place to try to access photos from my computer to see them on AppleTV. It might have been my high level of frustration and despair but I could not find a way to move the photos to MobileMe from Aperture (on the day I could get into Aperture). Export does not list MobileMe as an optional destination. It's been too long since I sent anything to MobileMe and I can't remember how I did it.
In the past and even today I've successfully accessed a few of my photos in Aperture through my AppleTV2. Thankfully, Aperture does not need to be open to see the photos. However, my problem is that when I stream through AppleTV I can only get to a miniscule fraction of my photos. I have a selection of projects that will appear on my TV but the vast majority of the projects list only ONE photo in the project when there are dozens, hundreds or thousands in the various projects.
I tried making some new projects and that partially worked. Some of the ones I just made still only show one photo but I made one with about a thousand scenic photos that sort of worked. I loaded it to play during a party today and about 500 were listed in the folder when I started the slideshow. I didn't count them as they played, of course, but it certainly seemed they replayed more than I wanted them too in spite of the five second time selection. I will move that to 10 seconds next time. What I really want to do is have access to large groups of different photos I have in Aperture. I want to pull in a mix of trip locations, wildlife, scenic shots, etc. It would be nice if Aperture picked up Smart Albums and not just projects.
I have multiple problems going on: computer freezes, cursor moves but won't click and keyboard becomes unresponsive, flashing artifacts and horizontal lines, CRASHES galore. Right now I'm feeling kind of panicked it's going to crash before I hit "post message". If you can offer any guidance in any of these areas, your help will be deeply appreciated.

John, thanks for pointing out that pathway to send files to MobileMe. I was looking under Export.
Yes, I know that some of my concerns may be better suited to other forums but all of my problems hinge around updating to Aperture 3 and Snow Leopard at the same time. Therefore I have no clue if it's one or the other or a toxic combination of both that has brought me such misery. My problems cross into several categories. I've prowled the forums (communities) for many months looking for advice.
If I can ever get back into Aperture I will surely try your "update previews" suggestion. I did the Repair Permissions and it just finished as I was typing here. It opened Aperture for a couple of seconds and crashed in the background. I got the same crash with the Repair Database. I'm now doing the third Option/Command option in Aperture of rebuilding the database. I don't know what to do if those repairs/rebuilds don't work.
I have the program on my number one hard drive with over 300 GB free space. My libraries are on my second 1 TB HD with 369 GB of free space. I've been accessing Aperture with nothing else running and that doesn't help. I have four 512 MB DDR2 FB-DIMM cards. I would love to have more RAM but that's all I've got right now. I also wonder if my Graphics Card is toast for the new OS and version of Aperture. I don't know enough about computers to figure this out and I'm hoping someone will have the solution I need.

  • Photo's are pixelated when chosen from Aperture library in System Prefs.

When I go to system preferences to choose my background image, all my Aperture Images are extremely pixelated when clicked on.
Example: If I have a 1440 x 900 image to perfectly fit my background it appears as a stretched out 640 x 480 extremely low res image.
But if I export the photo from Aperture than drag it into the background drop box in System Preferences/Desktop & Screen Saver the images looks like it should. It's just that this way takes way more time and is a hassle.
    Any idea? common problem?
    Aperture 2.1 on 10.5.3

You my friend are a genius! worked like a charm!
    Thanks
One more question not related the pixelation is that in System Preferences/Desktop & Screen Saver
Two 'Aperture Projects' come up with identical content in them of my Aperture Library. Both with the little triangle expander to the left of them. I can't understand why there are two of the exact same thing.

  • Which Metadata option when exporting from Aperture?....

When Exporting a single Original (never edited) CR2 file from Aperture 3.6 to my Desktop there are 3 Metadata options :
    1) - Don't include IPTC
    2) - Include IPTC
    3) - Create IPTC4XMP Sidecar File
As I have no idea what 'IPTC' etc is, which option is best to later Import into Capture One, please?

IPTC are all Metadata you assigned in Aperture or in other applications, as opposed to the EXIF metadata embedded in the photos by the camera. The camera tags would be in the EXIF.
The get an idea, what is in clouded in EXIF and IPTC, open the Inspector in Aperture in the sidebar and switch the view to "IPTC info". That will show you a list of all tags, that will be included, when you export from Aperture with IPTC included.
You can only export modified versions with IPTC, since Aperture will not modify the original file on export. That is why you can add a sidecar files, that lists all tags, and many applications are able to read this sidecar file, when you import photos.
I want the camera EXIF data to be exported with the image file.
The camera EXIF are already embedded in the original image files. When you export the originals, the EXIF will be included, independent of your setting for IPTC.
You can test, what will be exported, by opening exported files in Preview and opening the Inspector (Tools menu > Show Inspector)
You can see all EXIF and IPTC tags that have been exported with the photo.

  • Email sigs missing when sending from Aperture

I've noticed that when I email a photo from Aperture, it opens a message from my default mail account but removes the signature file and sets the drop-down to "none."
Anyone else notice this problem, and anyone have a work-around. Not a big deal, but a pain to remember to ad that back in each time.
    Dave

Easily resolved, I think. Click on the Customize Icon in a New Message (will be at the bottom left of the headers) and add the Signature pop-up menu to the New Message screen (will then appear at the bottom right of the Headers when chosen. Then when Email is selected in Aperture, the Signature will wink away, but can be put back by selecting in this Pop-up menu.
But the Signature can be a bad idea, as for some recipients it may cause the attachments to appear embedded -- most likely for those recipients using Outlook or Outlook Express. I always click on Format in the menubar of any message composed from Aperture, and choose Make Plain Text before sending for this same issue. This is probably why Aperture's Email function defaults to no signature.

  • Has anyone else had an issue ordering from Aperture?

For some reason I keep getting a "please try again later" message and I know my appleID info is correct and up to date.  It's just aperture I cannot seem to order from.  Any helpful ideas?

Could you walk us through the nature of the trouble you're having (with connecting to the Store) in some more detail, please?

  • Downsized images when imported from Aperture

The latest batch if images I imported into iPhoto from Aperture were somehow downsized to half the size, ie from 3888x2592 to 1944x1296.  In other words, cut in half.  This has never happened before.  Previously, the iPhoto image had the same dimensions as the image in Aperture.  Would this have something to do with Lion?  I need images with over 3000 pixels on at least one side to sell them.  Thanks.  Larryt

How did you "import into iPhoto from Aperture"?
If you're using the media browser (File -> Show Aperture Library) then what you're getting are you Aperture Previews. The size of these is set in your Aperture Preferences.
If you exported from Aperture then the export preset you used in Aperture is what defines the size of the image.
So, no, this has nothing to do with Lion and only to do with the settings you are using in Aperture.
I can't help but wonder though, why you are using iPhoto at all, if you use Aperture. Is this complexity necessary?

  • How can I remove vertical lines when printing from Aperture 3.2.2 to Epson Stylus Photo RX690?

I have been generally quite happy with my access to and use of Aperture 3.2.2 (recently purchased) for import and manipulation of photos and movies, etc.I am using Aperture on a MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8.
However I have been unable to print high quality images on Epson premium glossy, glossy or matt paper on my Epson Stylus Photo RX690.
High quality prints on screen show perfectly in preview, but all prints come out with good and accurate colours, but a series of vertical lines or bands of lines across the photo print.
Using the Aperture Manual I have checked my settings in Aperture for the printer, for colour and quality of paper etc and they all seem to be correct.
The Epson Printer is networked with a Toshiba (Vista) laptop which prints perfect results from Picasa and Photoshop with fine colour and no markings.
I would appreciate any help please.
    Cam Opie

    Thank you Mark
I thought I had done all the settings .....but no.
I now have perfect prints. Easy when you know how!!!
    Cheers
