Apple ipad 'Cannot connect to the server'

When using Mail,  iPad says ' Cannot connect to server'
it's an icloud mail account.
The original ipad has internet connectivity.
I've set up the same account on a different ipad and no probelms.
I've tried deleting the acocunt and reinstalling but still the problem persists
Any ideas?

I haven't updated yet. Apple's download servers have been too busy. Did you know you can update via wifi instead of connection to your computer?

    If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPad. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
    First, test your iPad on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
    If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
    If your iPad does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPad is bad.
    If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

    All the new updates made my ipad 2 not work well and hesitate so I cleared off all content and reset all settings and then downloaded all current updates. I now get a message every time I open my ipad 2 that says Log into Facebook.     Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • What does it mean "Cannot connect to the server" ?

    We actually have two issues.  For some reason Yahoo email stopped downloading on my wife's droid razzr.  The section to alter the frequency to check for email is greyed out so you can't get in to it.  Perhaps that has something to do with it.  It is a "new" replacement phone since the original one quit working mid-text a couple weeks ago (phone only 5 months old).  Both of my phones seem to get the "Cannot connect to the server" notice every now and then.  Could use some help.  Thanks

    I have a problem with xserver. Everything seems to be working ok, however, one day system started to break down.
    I cannot connect to the server through *screen sharing* neither through internet, nor through local net. Even after restart login wont shows up.
    I cannot also connet to the *Server Preferences* (Unable to authenticate to the Open Directory master.)
    Sometimes I cannot also connect to the *Server Admin* (but after restart it works, however, Server Preferences are unavailable).
    SSH works ok.
    Nor repair permission, neither verify disk, or update for OS X server 10.6.4 worked.

    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.
