Apple iPhone 5 battery terrible!?

This isn't normal right? I contacted Vodafone Au, but they said to take it to
an Apple store to be covered by their 1 year warranty. How do I go about this, as this battery life is terrible. I hardly opened an app, the only thing I did was check my email. I have reset the phone numerous times and didn't set up as backup and all the other 'fixes' (really?), now something has to be done. Apple, get on top of this or so help me God.....

Hi, I bought my iPhone in mid dec and had terrible battery issues. Standby was 9 hours, talk time was about 1 hour etc. I took it into the store to get it sorted out - the phone support was rubbish.
They diagnosed it as a software issue/bug. A sign was that the standby time and usage time appeared to be almost identical, indicating something was running in the background all the time.
They did a full reset - ie wipe the OS and reinstall as factory settings. Then he went tote settings, general and changed a bunch of the privacy settings al to OFF. There are about 6 or 7 on one tab, he turned them all off. Apparently in many cases they remain on and totally drain the battery.nthey have no mpact on location services etc (he showed me on his phone same settings applied)
Get full battery life now. Hope that helps.

  • IPhone 5 Battery = Terrible

I regret upgrading to the iPhone 5.  I've read some people claim it's the iOS.  I honestly don't know.
What I do know is that my iPhone 4 had no problems with battery.  It functioned quite well for being 2 years old.  I really miss it now.
I've gone to the Apple Store twice now.  The first time they told me to turn everything off, dim display, etc...  I did all that.  No real change to battery dying.  Today I went for a second time.  They whiped everything off the phone and reset to factory defaults.  Then I had to sync (not restore from backup) all my applications, contacts, etc.  This was supposed to make the phone like new.
In less than 2 hours the phone went from 100% to 81%.  I only typed 2 e-mails on the Etsy application, checked normal e-mails two or three times, and looked at the weather.
The Apple Store did offer to replace the phone, however I honestly don't believe that will fix the problem.  I'll wait a few months for a new batch of phones before I request a replacement.  Until then, I'll just keep it charging everywhere there's power.
Apple, this may be the last iPhone I ever own if you don't fix your product.

Thanks for pointing out that I look dumb for not knowing this forum was only other apple users.  I assumed being hosted by apple, they would at least have moderators to view issues customers are having with their product.
"stop the whining and pose your issue clearly and succinctly."  Wow, that sure was helpful, thanks gdgmacguy. So, why do you post if you aren't doing much help other than trying to put other users down who are having technical problems with a new product that is not meeting expectations?

  • Apple iPhone 5 battery stopped working

I left my iphone 5 on the window seal and the battery has overheated and stopped working. But when i plug it into computer it comes up itunes and thats it
Is this covered by apple hardware warranty,

I would think not, but only Apple can make that determination.

  • Apple iPhone 4 battery decreasing rapidly

So I charged my phone up to 100%, set my alarm and locked it and put it under my pillow. The next morning I woke up and found my phone to have less than 80% battery. Can somebody help me please. It's happened on multiple occasions.

Restore iPhone with current iTunes on your computer. When prompted Set Up as New iPhone. See if it functions better. If still problem, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

  • IPhone 5 battery replaced by Apple, now constantly rebooting

    Hello,
Yesterday, my wife and I both had our batteries replaced by Apple as part of the battery replacement program.  Mine is working fine, but my wife's is not.  When we got home, the battery was at 22% (understandable since it had just been replaced with a new one).  I plugged it to charge.  After about 4 hours, I checked it, and it was still at 22%!  I did a hard reset and the phone came back up at 100%, so I figured it was a glitch.  Well, this morning it was still at 100% after not being plugged in since yesterday, so I did another hard reset.  Now, the iPhone will reboot itself every 3-4 minutes.
I have tried restoring the phone as a new device.  (I can't restore a backup since it will reboot before completing).
Strange thing,...it doesn't seem to reboot unless I am using the iPhone, or it is plugged in trying to sync.  If I let it just sit on the table with the screen off, it won't reboot.
I have an appointment at an Apple store tomorrow, but I am afraid since it is out of warranty, they won't help me....even though it was working fine before they replaced the battery (other than the fact the battery died after about 8 hours).
    Any thoughts out there?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Check out my solution. This worked for me after having the battery replaced for my iPhone 5 at the Genius Bar. Not sure if it'll fix the 100% issue though. Tried resetting network settings like above. I'll have to see and wait. Just had my battery replaced yesterday.

  • Will the Stitchway UltraPower 1900 mAh Backup Battery Charger work with the Apple iPhone 4S?

Will the Stitchway UltraPower 1900 mAh Backup Battery Charger work with the Apple iPhone 4S?

I see no reason why it shouldn't. At prices I've seen down to $4.39, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try. That's cheaper than a sandwich!

  • Does apple sell OEM iphone 4s battery?

have done some searching and I cant find anything like this on the apple stores (useless) website.   I don't want to get a low quality battery and I'm not ready to change phones yet.  I (somewhat) trust that apple will sell a good battery instead of 1000's of other choices that will last only a few weeks.   my orig batt is 2.5 yrs old
    thanks

Apple does not sell replacement parts nor are there any user serviceable
components in an iPhone. Apple does offer battery replacement
in some countries. Contact Apple for your location to find out the details and
cost involved. If you can get to a physical Apple store, replacement can be done
on the spot. Make an appointment before going to avoid delay.

    Hello!
I recently just downloaded the 'Waze' app as a backup for my Garmin. I've read a few reviews that seem to rant and rave about how good the GPS app is. It is community driven and maps are constantly being updated by users. Plus it has a few other fun stuff in it (something similar to Gasbuddy where you can owe prices on the map). But like the person above me said, there is lots of useful free GPS apps in the App Store.
Oh and I may be wrong but I remember reading an article about Google being slower about updating its maps system--ie no turn by turn voice, which many people have had complaints about.
    Happy Searching!
Ps - if you switch I wouldn't go to Blackberry.

  • Iphone 5 Battery efficiency is bad.....What will be the cost of replacing a battery in the apple store..??

what will be the cost of replacing a battery in the apple store..??

Apple has a battery replacement program for some devices sold between Dec 12 and Jan 13.
Check your device if it's eligible for this program or not https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/other_countries.html
Besides, go to any App Store and ask them to run ADR test for your device and will see the battery life. If it seems fail or consumed then you should replace the battery. If seems pass, then restore your device if you think battery drains too fast.
see the pricing Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
choose the country from list and will see the all info upon service costs

  • HT4061 my iphone 4 battery went dead then when i went to charge it the plug into itunes came up as its gone into recovery for some reason, itunes is only giving me the option to restore which i dont want to do as i have photos of my babys !! help me !!

please help!! my iphone 4 battery died then when i tried to charge it the plug into itunes came up as my phone has gone into recovery mode for some stupid reason! i have tried tinyumbrella as itunes is giving me no other option but to restore, i dont want to restore as i have very important photos of my babies that i havnt backed up yet and CANT loose!! iv tried holding the 2 buttons intogether but that doesnt work either ! there is bound to be a way around this without loosing my photos. im tamping with apple, this shouldnt happen ! aswell as worring bout loosing all my photos and now i have no phone so am paying for a contract that doesnt even work . please please please helppppppp ! x

If your phone is in recovery mode, all the data on it, including those photos, is already lost.  Leaving important photos on a phone for any length of time, such as baby pictures, as you've found out is a terrible idea.
You've no option but to restore your phone.

  • IPhone 5 battery extremely bad!

I upgraded to the iPhone 5 as soon as it was released, ever since I have had battery problems. I always take my charger wherever I go now, because the battery just drains way too fast. It's a pity that Apple had advertised the iPhone 5 would have a better battery, but it's way worse than my iPhone 4. Today when I left for work at 10am it was 100%. I worked till 1pm and by the time it was 3pm my battery was down to 40%. I had barely used my phone. Absolutely terrible.
Does anyone have any ideas how it can be fixed?

I actually get better performance from my iPhone 5 battery over the 4.  I haven't done a scientific measurement but I'll bet it's at least 20% better.  I took mine off the charger this morning at about 6am.  It's currently 10pm and I'm at 53%.  I've used it throughout the day but oddly today I had no calls on it. Just a bunch of email, texting and web.
I would start with the usual suspects.  Go into settings and turn off LTE for starters.  Then I would go into Location Services and make sure nothing is coming on that you don't need.  Then make sure that you're not in a weak signal area.  That's the number one reason my battery drains.  If my phone has to work hard to find a signal it drains the battery big time.  I also tend to leave WiFi on when I'm at home and that helps.  Good luck.

  • Iphone 4 battery runs completely down with no use in an hour or two.

My Iphone 4 battery, out of the blue, started running completely down in a couple hours with no use.  I would take it off the charger reading 100% and not do a thing, but the unit will get pretty warm and the battery drains.  The phone is only 3 months old and two days ago I was getting a full day to a day and a half with my ususal usage.  Anyone know what is causing this or a fix? I've tried shutting down and rebooting and for software updates?  Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks, Josh

One thing to try is cleaning iPhone Dock Port with a clean dry toothbrush.
If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution.
Another is to clean the dock port again with the toothbrush and a bit of Isopropyll Alcohol, especially clean the pins which are on top of the Dock Mid Rib.
Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons for about 10 seconds until the iPhone restarts itself, ignore the 'slide to power off' slider.
Restore Firmware, at end when iTunes asks, Restore as New, not from backup.

  • Iphone 4 battery sometimes drains fast -- problem with Mail app?

My iphone 4 battery often drains too quickly, and I wonder if it has something to do with my Mail App.
When my phone is not playing nice, it drains at least 20% overnight while on Standby, and from 100% to 30% in around 6 hours when I use it during the day. I found a fix (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11775150) that basically says to wipe your mail account and set it up again.
This fix works, but only temporarily for me. I find that I have to keep resetting my mail every few days to get back to "normal battery" where it barely drains overnight. I only use one email account (gmail) -- could there be something going on there?
Oh, and when my battery drains fast, nothing changes when I turn off WiFi, notifications, push, etc. I usually have my mail refresh hourly.
    Has anyone had this experience?
