Apple iphone4 is locked and will not let me dial or access contacts or recents, etc, can anyone help here?
I can't get my Apple iphone 4 to allow me to access anything (Phone functions only)after it comes up. No dialing, favorites or contacts, etc. What to do to fix it?
What is "locked", the phone or the laptop? When you say locked, what symptoms are you seeing that makes you say it is locked?
Without a working sleep/wake button, then you cannot perform the basic user troubleshooting steps. Your only choice at this point is to let the phone's battery die and see if you can get it reset by then plugging it into the charger.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

I'm sorry no-one has answered you yet - I'm afraid I don't know the answer to the question: but I wanted to put into your mind that starting up with AppleWorks at this stage isn't a good idea. The program was 'end-of-lifed' years ago, it won't run on Lion, and some of the document types created in it - Databases in particular - cannot be opened at all by any other program whatever. Word Processing documents can be opened in Pages, and Spreadsheets in Numbers (with some reservations in both cases), but building up a collection of AppleWorks documents at this stage is going to lead to problems later on.
It's difficult to know what to recommend for a PowerPC machine that would still be compatible with modern ones. An older version of Microsoft Office, perhaps, if you can find one which will run on PPC; but most of the modern Word Processors are Intel only. This is something you would need to investigate. -

Disk Partition says "Locked" and will not let me unlock using the perm.

Just a quick question here, I recently set disk permissions on one of my partitions on each mac pro, I set the permissions for all enclosed items so that it set them over the whole disk. How do I undo this? There is a lock icon on the partition and I cannot access it...thanksYes they are system boot partitions, I did this because last time I re-imaged the computers they had a bunch of permissions problems, I didnt realize I would not be able to use the partition if i farmed out the permissions, I checked the box that said "Ignore permissions on this volume" and it still says "Custom" for all of them and will not let me access the drive even on the Admin account. If i use the disk utility to erase and then re-image my "Manage Drive" and set it back to a boot disk do you think that would work, thanks for the replies you guys are awesome.

When I tried to update Itunes I got an error message telling me to reinstall. When I try to reinstall I get a message "Apple Mobile Devide failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privliges to start syem services" I'm not sure what this means, can anyone help here? Thanks,
I tried the temp fix you mentioned, it didn't work. I could not delete all of the old itunes files, the uninstallers would crash half way through and if I tried to manually delete anything it also gave me an error, so reinstalling the older version would not work.
Frankly, this whole thing has got me ****** off. judging by the amount of complaints here, there must be a lot of people having this problem, yet Apple has let it go on for almost 2 weeks. What kind of inept coders are they employing if they can let an update that completely frags their software get through QA.
Does anyone know of any programs that will play itunes music files? I am just about done dealing with iTunes, but I've got a ton of music that I don't want to have to purchase all over again. -
My pc crashed and I lost everything. I had my old ITunes installed on it. I since bought a new pc and installed ITunes and its not letting me sync it saying still connected to old library and even when I choose transfer purchases still not letting me. What do I need to do? Please help!!!!

My MacBook Pro 15in mid 2010 4gb 1067, 2.4gighertz i5, os 10.9.5 has locked up the calendar screen displays "The server responded with an error" and will not let me exit the msg or the screen I can use the rest of the computer. I have turned of the computer, force quit and other things. I tried to send a Calendar by email

i have connected it to itunes like i was told to do and it wont do anything because its locked with a passcode and its frozen on the lock screen and will not let me enter myt passcode and after a while it just shuts off, it has been doing this for almost 48 hours. I was told to hold the home button and power button to shut it down and that I could then restart it and it would work... Nothing has helped, What can I try???
Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
If that does not resolve, restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If all else fails, take the device to Apple (or whomever provides support in your country) for evaluation and possible replacement. -
my ipad is locked out however when i try to type my passcode the individual letter gets a box around it and will not let me type my passcode in. how do i get rid of this.

Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.

At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.

I have used your info to give my two iPads different names. My problem is that my old iPad still has the old email in the Apple ID pop up so it will not let me sign in. I checked my info in the manage my account page and there is my email as primary, which allows me to sign in for apps, etc on the newiPad air, but when I try to update or buy an App on the old iPad, the old email is in the pop up and will not let me sign in.
How do I change the email in the old iPad to match the new iPad????
The Old email is on my manage my account page as a verified ALTERNATE email.We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Have you created a new account or updated your existing account ? All content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so if you have created a new account then all of your existing downloads will remain tied to your old account.
If you've updated your existing account then try tapping on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and log out of it and then log back in with the updated id so as to 'refresh' the account on it. -

Don't know how it happens. Have you signed in successfully with your Apple ID in App Store or iCloud? Is your iPad connected to network?
You should make sure that your iPad is connected to a stable network. And then you should type in the correct Apple ID password.
