Apple iPod Battery Replacement Program Experiences.

Hello, as you all know apple offers the battery replacement program for 99 dollars (now sixty something dollars). For any of you that have tried it, can you please tell us all a little about how was your experience? did you get a better ipod or a worse one? a refurbished, used or new? scratched or perfect?
please leave a comment on how your experience was with Apple's battery replacement program even if it is a very small one.

I just received my refurbished iPod back yesterday. It looked like new! The engraving was on the back, just like the unit I sent in.
However, the reason I am on the forums today is that when I plugged it in to charge the new battery before synching, I received the familiar "battery with exclamation point" screen. So now I seem to have a clean, new or refurbished unit with the same old problem. Frustrating to say the least.

  • Apple iPod Nano replacement program - question

    Hello, Apple community,
I have a question about the new replacement program of the iPod nano 1st gen.
The program doesn't state whether or not you get a refund or a new iPod nano (the small squared once with touch screen).
The program says that you'll get a replacement iPod Nano, but isn't very specific if it is the new generation.
I apologise for any spelling mistakes and such.
    Thank you for any answer,

    Hi lindsayfromspencerport,
I can say it is not a scam - Apple is definitely replacing the iPods.  Once I read the article and went to apple.com, that proved it.  Apple.com would never risk another class action lawsuit over this iPod.
My First Generation iPod was given to me at work for being the winner of a give-away drawing and about a year or so ago it overheated and erased all the info on the iPod.  Now it will only charge and drain the battery.  It no longer allows me to store any thing on it.
I am glad that Apple is doing this exchange.  I thought I was just out of luck and was glad I had not paid full price for it.  I love my Nano and used it constantly!!!
Just send your's in using the box and label they send you and give them 6 weeks like the apple.com website says, Apple will make good on their product.  Millions of people don't stand in line and wait weeks/months for their new products to arrive for no reason, trust me.  Oh, by the way, I know this for sure.....I work for a wireless phone service that has been dealing with Apple for Yearsssssssssssss.....and every year the same thing.  People will give anything to get a product with that apple on it.

  • IPod Battery Replacement Program

    Hi Everyone,
My green iPod mini is now in need of a new battery. I read over the Battery Replacement FAQ, but I'm not sure how the condition of the iPod mini I recieve will be. So I guess I have a few questions.
Has anyone participated in this program that has had success getting a good iPod back?
What do they do with my old iPod?
Do they test it when they get it to see if it needs a new battery?
What do they send with the iPod? Or is it just the iPod itself?
    Thanks,
    Brian

Personally, I wouldn't recommend sending it to Apple for an out of warranty battery replacement.
You can get a new battery and do it yourself for ~$20.
    Go to www.ipodjuice.com.
There are other places also. Google "iPod battery".
What do they do with my old iPod?
They repair it and use it as a replacement.
Do they test it when they get it to see if it needs a new battery?
    Yes.
What do they send with the iPod? Or is it just the iPod itself?
    Just the iPod.
They charge $$59, plus $6.95 shipping.
If the battery is good or the iPod is bad, they will return your iPod, refund the $59 and keep the shipping.

  • Does Apple offer battery replacement programs for older generation ipods?

Hi, I was wondering if they offer the service for a 5.5g 80gb ipod. If they do, would they replace it with another 5.5g 80gb ipod? If they don't, I will hate the company since I got my ipod for less than 2 years and the battery is almost completely dead.

I was wondering if they offer the service for a 5.5g 80gb ipod.
Yes they do have the service but it's far cheaper to go somewhere else (ipodresq.com or ipodjuice.com) or do it yoursself.
If you really want Apple to do it (~$60 vs. ~$20 DIY), go here -> https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
If they do, would they replace it with another 5.5g 80gb ipod?
No, they would replace your battery and send you the same iPod back.
If they don't, I will hate the company
    What are you, 13?

  • Apple iPod Nano Replacement Program HELP?

I requested the replacement in mid November, but never received any box or packaging in which to send the product back to Apple. Yet when I check the repair status on the site, it says it was dispatched.
    What do I do?

In your case, if you have not gotten a box, CALL APPLE, they would need to set up the service again. Have your s/n or old repair id ready.
You would recieve your box in about 7-10 days after you set it up.
    Call 1800 MY APPLE
    Hope this helps.

  • Apple iPod Battery Service

The Apple iPod Battery replacement program what does it cover?
    Does it cover
    Completely dead iPod batteries,
iPod batteries that don't hold a full charge
    or something else not mentioned.

The only iPod battery replacement programme I know of is the out of warranty one where they will replace an out of warrant iPod with a battery problem with a new iPod for about AU$99 aprox and I'm pretty sure it will cover all the problems you specified earlier.
It might be a good idea to take it to an AASP rather than sending it directly to Apple as they may fix it and send you the bill if it doesn't qualify (but I'm sure it does I just don't want you to end up with a big bill because of me)
I'm sorry about my earlier post maybe i should read the articles thoroughly before i refer them :/

  • 12" battery replacment program--battery never arrived

Does anyone know how I can contact apple's battery replacement program to let them know my replacement battery never arrived? I am overseas and cannot use the 800 contact numbers.
    Thank you
    G4 dual 800 Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Go to the main Apple site, and use the drop down menu at the bottom of the page to change the country to the one you are currently residing in. Then click "Contact Us" and you should find a number to call.
Out of curiosity, how long did you wait? It took mine forever to reach me-maybe a month and a half.

  • Ipod nano 2nd gen, 5 years old, has short battery life. Can the battery be replaced? If not, does apple have a replacement program? how much?

    Details:
5 year old 2nd Gen Ipod nano only works for an hour the most. Battery may be approaching end of life.
Can this still be replaced? if not, what are my options? Does apple have a replacement program?

Just would like to share with you, my experience with a friend's Nano with a smiliar problem
The battery level could be too low to boot up the OS of the iPod, which even may corrupted (if you see a folder icon).
The best way to fix it, is to connect it with different device other than your PC as it is likely not get charge at all, e.g.
    1. car charger
    2. ac charger
    3. ipod speaker dock system
    4. using firewire cable
    5. with a Mac computer
The key is to charge the battery level up to the minimum for you to put your Nano into disk mode
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
once you see the "tick" mark, connect it with a computer, and try to do a Restore for your iPod. In case you still do not manage to get your iPod to be recognized by a PC, I am afraid you have to connect it with a Mac, very likely it will allow you to do a Restore as I did last night

  • Apple's battery replacement = different ipod?

Got a question about ipod battery replacement on Apple Care. Recently purchased two ipod classics, just before they were discontinued. The battery of one of them appears to be underperforming. I also have some older ipods that may need out-of-warranty battery replacement soon.
All my ipods are meticulous without a scratch.
Reading Apple’s article on ipod battery replacement, I am wondering. They call it battery replacement program but say 'No, you'll receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data and songs.’
In other words: they give you another ipod - but there is no word whether it is a new one or somebody else’s. This sounds rather odd. What I try to avoid is getting a scratched up reconditioned replacement.
What do you get in the end?

In other words, their battery replacement program is really an ipod replacement program. So it is impossible to open up the ipod without damage. The program can then simply be used to get rid of your scratched up ipod.
    Very strange indeed.
As to the battery of the classic purchased in Sept 2014: I am playing the same album on repeat at half volume. After 24h, there may be 15% battery left. Apple claims 40 hours and ilounge tested 58 hours.

  • IPod Battery Settlement Program (Apple Canada)

I have been waiting for months for Apple to post the claim form for the first-generation iPod battery rebate. <http://www.apple.com/ca/ipod/settlement/>
Does anyone know why this is taking so long?

It's back up now - that's the good news.
Now the bad news - you have to have proof of purchase in the form of a credit card reciept or original itemized reciept. I bought mine with debit in 2003 (so no credit card) and don't have the reciept anymore - got rid of it ages ago when the warranty ran out and I bought it from A&B Sound (now bankrupt) so no possibility of getting another one.
Now this would annoy me, because I registered the product when I bought it with Apple - and registered the Applecare - but what annoys me more is the clause that says if you ever used Applecare or the battery replacement program - which I did, three times, and it didn't get any better - that you're not eligible.
    So - I'm S.O.L - great settlement lawyers!

  • Ipod battery replacement

I have a 1st gen 2Gb nano and the battery is well under the 50% and I would like to participate in the battery replacement program. If I take it in to my local store will they give me a 2nd or 3rd generation nano, or would they be able to find a 1st gen.

They won't replace it with a newer model that's for sure.
They'll likely send it away and you'll get another iPod of the same model.
You can do that on-line. Is it out of warranty?
