Apple iPod Battery Service
The Apple iPod Battery replacement program what does it cover?
Does it cover
Completely dead iPod batteries,
iPod batteries that don't hold a full charge
or something else not mentioned.
The only iPod battery replacement programme I know of is the out of warranty one where they will replace an out of warrant iPod with a battery problem with a new iPod for about AU$99 aprox and I'm pretty sure it will cover all the problems you specified earlier.
It might be a good idea to take it to an AASP rather than sending it directly to Apple as they may fix it and send you the bill if it doesn't qualify (but I'm sure it does I just don't want you to end up with a big bill because of me)
I'm sorry about my earlier post maybe i should read the articles thoroughly before i refer them :/

Apple iPod Battery Replacement Program Experiences.
Hello, as you all know apple offers the battery replacement program for 99 dollars (now sixty something dollars). For any of you that have tried it, can you please tell us all a little about how was your experience? did you get a better ipod or a worse one? a refurbished, used or new? scratched or perfect?
please leave a comment on how your experience was with Apple's battery replacement program even if it is a very small one.I just received my refurbished iPod back yesterday. It looked like new! The engraving was on the back, just like the unit I sent in.
However, the reason I am on the forums today is that when I plugged it in to charge the new battery before synching, I received the familiar "battery with exclamation point" screen. So now I seem to have a clean, new or refurbished unit with the same old problem. Frustrating to say the least. -
i have to send in my ipod mini for a new battery soon, and i was wondering if they send back the same ipod or if they send you a new one? i know this sounds stupid (and believe me, i want a mini back) but if you send a cell phone in for service, sometimes they send you a completely different model, so will apple do that too? if so, please tell me that there is no way that i will get a shuffle...
Dell Windows XPit's only dinged around the edge near the hold switch. most people wouldn't notice it unless they were really, really looking. but i know that it's there, so it's more obvious to me. how do they take off the engraving?
sorry if i'm bugging you too much, i'm just so darned curious. my ipod is like my baby.

IPod Battery Replacement Service Chan
As of 7.8.05, Apple changed its iPod battery replacement service charge from $99 to $59.
Darn.....now i feel some regret from getting a Zen Micro, seeing as how the only reason i bought it was cuz its battery was only $40.There is also a company named iPodResQ that for $64 will cover the cost of overnight shipping of your iPod, replacement of the battery and then overnight shipping back to you. This is well worth it. Having just bought an iPod one month ago, I don't plan on this service for at least two years or better. With this service you get your original back. If you opt to send it to Apple, they do NOT necessarily send you the same unit back.

My iPod is sad.
iPod displays a "sad iPod" icon.
What does this picture on my iPod mean?
Also, there is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon or the folder and ! icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.

On my registered iTunes computer, the following message appears every time one plugs in a device and refuses to load said device to be synced: "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started". Each device has been registered onto this account and this computer, and all have worked finely in the past. I am so confused as to why now seemingly without reason, none of our apple devices (one iPod, two iPhones) are allowed to have music and other material downloaded onto them. Also, as a side note, they still are charged by plugging them into the computer, however they do not even show up on the left-hand sidebar in iTunes.
It should also be noted that for my iPhone it does not allow for the new update software to be uploaded; it just says that an error has occurred, nothing more.Try Here > AMDS > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

Never mind--I think I found the answer through other posts. Thanks!

When I plug my iPod Touch 4g into my computer I get a pop-up that says "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started." And when I plug in my iTouch the name of the iTouch does not come up on my iTunes. How do I start the Apple Mobile Device? How do I fix this?

Apple Mobile Device service and Ipod Service both necessary?
Do I need both Apple Mobile Device service and Ipod Service running on my Windows XP machine in order to use an iPod Touch Gen4? I have to restart both of these services to get iTunes 11.0.4.4 to recognize it. I wonder if they conflict with one another.
Both need to be running.
