Apple iPod Dock (Click Wheel models)

I have a 3rd Gen iPod (15GB). is it compatabille with the Apple iPod Dock (Click Wheel models) as in the description denotes only 20GB & 60GB.?

If you're going to buy a dock, then just buy the correct dock for your iPod. Like I said, they're all the same price.
iPod color Dock: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72504/wo/wy5uBwj uMyGn3gtokq747yKQjGz/1.SLID?mco=55F2F0EC&nplm=M9868G%2FA
Mini Dock: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72504/wo/wy5uBwj uMyGn3gtokq747yKQjGz/1.SLID?mco=4F1F1A11&nplm=M9467G%2FA
3G/4G Dock (it comes with different covers to fit different sized iPods, but the dock is exactly the same): http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72504/wo/wy5uBwj uMyGn3gtokq747yKQjGz/4.SLID?mco=5231F86E&nplm=M9602G%2FA
Each one is $39.
Any of them would work if the iPod physically fits into it. The connector is exactly the same, it's the top piece that is different.
But by all means, if you need reassurance, email Apple on the store there. http://store.apple.com. They'll tell you exactly what you need to get. Include your iPod's serial number, it'll help them double check and make sure.
Or call 'em up. 1-800-MY-APPLE.

  • USB 2.0- Nano recognised as a iPod 20/40GB Click wheel model

Whenever I connect my iPod Nano into my ALi M5273 USB 2.0 PCI card, iTunes recognises my Nano as an old iPod (iPod 20/40GB Click Wheel model, with the black/white screen). The ipod icon under 'Sources' that appears on the left of iTunes appears as this model instead of a black ipod nano icon.
Sometimes the usb 2.0 card fails to connect altogether. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Or should i just buy a new USB 2.0 card?
    Specs:
    Windows XP Professional SP2
ALi M5273 USB 2.0 PCI Card
    iPod Nano

Strange... i've tried both versions. Version 4.9 that came on the disc and version 5.0. But both versions of itunes still seem to have the same problem- with USB 2.0.
Is it strange for my USB 2.0 card to have 4 USB controllers?: 1x'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller', and 4x'ALi PCI to USB Open Host Controller'? All in all, it's added 4 USB Root Hubs, one with 6 usb ports, and 3 all with 2 usb ports each. Is that correct? (My ALi USB 2.0 card only has 5 usb ports but my pc has added 12).
P.s: There is another USB host controller which is not accounted for, as this is used to control the USB 1.1 ports on my motherboard. The controllers and USB Hubs listed have all been added by my ALi USB 2.0 PCI Card.

  • I updated my 20G iPod with click wheel and now it wont turn on all the way

Ok so I updated my 20G iPod with click wheel with the latest version (three point something), and now when i try to turn it on, it shows the apple logo and then has a pic of an ipod being plugged into a power adapter being plugged into a wall socket. i have reset it about 40 times and it always does the same thing. i have tried to charge the ipod with my computer but it does absolutely nothing (i dont have a power adapter). Also, when i reset my ipod WHEN IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE COMPUTER, it shows the "Very low battery" picture. Also, my computer does not see the iPod in "my computer" or iTunes. I have another iPod, which works perfectly on my computer. I thank anyone who tries to help me.

You must have a charge of your iPod with an ac charger, in order to complete the Restore process.
You can also charge your iPod with
    1. iPod car charger
    2. iPod speaker dock system e.g. iPod HiFi or Bose soundstage

  • IPod with click wheel - will not restore

    Hi all,
I know I've got the dinosaur of the iPods, but hey. I have a 20g iPod with click wheel. Every time I load up iTunes with the iPod plugged into the PC, iTunes tells me that my iPod is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. (Not sure how that happened, but anyway.) So, I tell it to restore, then plug it into the external power supply as it tells me to do. However, when it is finished restoring, and I plug it back into the PC to reload the songs from iTunes, the cycle starts again. I have restarted my computer, done soft resets of my iPod, but it still won't update. Any help would be appreciated. Though the newer iPods are very pretty, I am quite happy with my old dinosaur, haha.

After a lot of searching and working on this, I found the problem - and it wasn't my previously theorized conspiracy to get us all to buy more from Apple.... It was quite simple actually.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304508 I followed all of these directions including re-installing the dlls and the usb drivers, but I think the key was that I have multiple USB devices plugged into my computer. I unplugged all but my wireless keyboard. Then I used a different USB port for my iPod than I had tried before. It updated..... Yeah. I don't have to buy one of the new over priced fancy models!!!!

  • Will the accessories for iPod with click wheel 20G work with the new gen?

    Hi,
I have a iPod with click wheel 20GB and am considering to get a new one, iPod with video 40GB or 80GB. Can I still use the following iPod accessories for 20GB one?
    - dock
    - USB power adapter
    Thanks.

I know a iPod comes with a usb cord but I would like to use the USB power adapter I have so I can charge iPod during travel with computer/laptop.
It seems to me that the connector in USB power adapter is a regular USB type B connector. But, I could not find the information to confirm it is a regular USB type B. Even it is the regular USB type B connector it does not work with the a usb cord shipped with iPod, which is a USB type A connector. That's the reason I would like to know if I can use it with new generation of iPod.
Or, I can just get a USB connector converter. But, not sure if it can supply the enough power to ...
B.t.w., the model number of the power adapter is A1070.

  • IPod with click wheel, refuses to restore

This problem is hapening with my first iPod, click wheel model.
I am trying to restore it but it doesn't allow to do so.
When the iPod is disconnected from the Mac, pressing the MENU and/or Selection button, I get a folder's clipart while turning it on, and the message www.apple.support/ipod (reason why I am here now).
If I connect my iPod to my iMac, it detects it with a problem and proposes a restore. I then start the restore èrocess and after 1 minutes the process stops and the message I get is "can't restore, iPod is busy". I tried to disconnect it, reconnect it but same problem.
Also very strange, looking at the support website, it says that itunes would propose various restore options but I don't get any....version of software on my iPod is 3.1.1. vesrion of iTunes I have installed is 7.7.1
Is there another way to format the iPod, thanks for your help !
    Cheers
    V.

    Hello,
Try forcing your iPod into disk mode:
Ensure the HOLD switch is OFF so that there is NO orange color showing beneath the switch. Then, press and hold the MENU and the SELECT (center) buttons together for about 10 seconds, until you see an Apple logo. When you see the Apple, IMMEDIATELY press and hold the SELECT (center) and the PLAY/PAUSE buttons together until you see a check mark, and the iPod says "Disk Mode, OK to Disconnect."
Once it is in disk mode, reconnect it to the computer and see if you can restore it in iTunes.
The various software versions may reflect an older utility used to restore the iPod (called the iPod Updater, available in /Applications/Utilities/. With the release of iTunes 7, that piece of software was no longer necessary, and iTunes is supposed to automatically detect and download the most recent version of your iPod software.

  • Cannot sync iPod with click wheel to iTunes...

I cannot sync my iPod with click wheel to my iTunes on Windows. I have already attempted the five R's, multiple times, including restoring my iPod three times, and updating my iTunes software. But when I plug my iPod in, it takes forever to be recognized by iTunes, and just sits there, whizzing and clicking, with the "Do Not Disconnect" message blinking. After awhile, iTunes will download a song or two from my library, then quit. I often get a message that says my iPod is "corrupted." Help! How can I get my iTunes library back on to my iPod?

I am having similar issues. I have received lots of advice, none of which work so far but there is lots to try here. Good luck!

  • IPod with click wheel not recognized by computer and doesn't show up in itunes. Have went through all the suggested tips and its not the cable.

ipod with click wheel not recognized on two separate laptops. Checked the cable and newer ipod shuffle works fine.  Ipod will play already loaded music and play from a dock.  Have went through the 5Rs and still not working. Any help appreciated.

Checked the cable and newer ipod shuffle works fine.
You're not trying to connect the iPod with click wheel using the short USB cable for the iPod shuffle, are you?  If so, that won't work.  The shuffle uses its headphone jack for the data connection.  All other iPods use the dock connector, using a standard docking cable.

  • Ipod with click wheel. Windows displays device not recognized problem.

I'm using a ipod with click wheel, and hooking it up through a usb 2.0 port with the stock cable.
I keep getting a device not recognized message from windows, and the itunes software 8.xxxx does not recognize it even in diagnostics tests. Everything else is pass, except the ipod recognition.
The battery needs to be charged, and is depleted but its not recieving a charge when plugged into the computer.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

If the iPod is not getting a charge through the cable (and the battery is depleted), it may not be recognized because the iPod has no power to do anything.
I would say the problem is either a faulty dock connector on the iPod, a faulty cable, or a faulty USB port on the computer. You have probably tested the USB port possibility already by trying a different port (or trying another USB device on the same port), so I would try a different USB docking cable as the next test.

  • Where can i buy a new charger for my ipod with click wheel, the old had burnt.tnk.i need it urgent.

Where can i buy a new charger for my ipod with click wheel, the old had burnt.tnk.i need it urgent.tnk

By "charger," do you mean a USB power adapter that plugs into the wall outlet (used to "charge" the iPod), or are you asking about the USB docking cable that connect the iPod to the computer?

  • Ipod mini click wheel

I bought my ipod mini in june, and by mid july, the click wheel all of a sudden was at an angle, i mean the wheel itself was slanting to the left, towards the back track button. I never put much, or any force on my ipod mini click wheel, especially since it was my pride and joy, and so new at the time...anyone know why this happens, or how, or has it happened to anyone else other than me?...
    Thank you.

  • I have a 4th generation ipod classic (click wheel) and it's giving me a sad ipod error as well as not mounting in itunes... I hear a clicking inside when it is connected to power but nothing is working. Help!

I have a 4th generation ipod classic (click wheel) and it's giving me a sad ipod error as well as not mounting in itunes... I hear a clicking inside when it is connected to power but nothing is working. Help!

You won't believe this but a friend of mine (who happens to be an Apple Genius) told me to put a towel or cloth on a sturdy countertop (I know this may sound weird) but hold the selct button (in the center) and menu part of the wheel at the same time until an Apple logo comes up on the screen and then quickly turn the ipod on it's side and wack it on the counter where the towel is so as not to damage anything cosmetically. It seems the clicking is the hard drive reader is stuck and this dislodges it. Mine works now (no clicking) and all seems to be well again. Who knew?

  • IPod 20GB Click Wheel Stops Playing Music

    All,
All of a sudden, my iPod 20GB Click Wheel just stops playing music in the middle of songs. I have to hit the play button and restart it. It's pausing the song. It does this periodically/randomly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    TC

The folder with an exclamation point is often a software issue on the iPod. The best troubleshooting step for this error is to restore the iPod.

If it still is not working after the restore, you'll probably need to set up a dispatch at the following website.

  • IPod 4G click wheel wont sync with itunes with firewire and USB

my iPod 4G click wheel 20GB won't sync with my Macbook Pro OSX Mountain Lion.......
only way work is .. I keep plug in and out the dock connector from the iPod ... after 30 to 50 times... it probably work!
    Anyone has same problem?!

Do you have another cable you can try to rule out the possibility that the cable is damaged or faulty?
You might also want to double check the iPod's dock connector for signs of bent, damaged, or corroded pins or even debris that could blocking a full connection with the cable.

  • Ipod nano click wheel not responding

My daughtr's ipod nano click wheel is not responding even after
    I did the 5 r's.

Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
