Apple is silly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, so a couple days back i had some issues with my ipod.. so I call them up right? they issue an RMA and tell me to print out these labels and send it back and as soon as they get it they'll send me a new one... no deal, no pritner, so I call up again... they tell me they'll send me a giftcard and for some stupid reason, this time they ALSO give me labels to print (after I told them not to because I have no printer) ...Fed up about about this I go to the website and fill out a repair request... They send me a box.
I get the box, put my ipod in and send it off... Thinking everythings good.
But then I get this email, and apperently apple finally has enough information to ship me a new ipod (the pending shipment from my first RMA) wich is weird because its not listed under my order status but I can find it if I type in the order number... alright.
But now i also have my ipod pending diagnosis from apple repair... Hmm.
And I still have a "return pending" on my order status page, saying when i return my ipod I will get a giftcard with the amount I paid for my ipod.
So what do I do? My new ipod is suppose to be here tomorrow... But what about this ipod thats pending repair?

Alllllriiighhtt.
Let me simplifty :P
October 18th - I call apple about my brand new ipod and its defected clickwheel, the issue an RMA and send me fed ex labels to print through my email, Once my ipod is returned to the warehouse they will ship me a new one.
October 19th - I call back, I have no printer and I cannot use these labels. The update the RMA, and AGAIN send me labels to print... Now i'm suppoesdly getting a giftcard with 200 dollars on it (the price for my refurbished 30gig) this too, will happen when I send my ipod back.
oct 20th - I get fed up with them not listening to me about how i do not have a printer and find "apple repair" on the apple website. I fill this out and a box is sent to me. It arrives on monday, I put my ipod in it.
October 24th - Apple has recieved my ipod and are diagnosing it... I get an email telling me that the ipod they had originally planned on shipping me once I returned my ipod to them has shipped.
Now I have an ipod shipping to me and an ipod in repair.

  • What EXACTLY do I need to hook up a 2nd LCD?  (24" iMac)

Hi. I have a white 24" iMac. I recently bought a Cintiq 15x LCD tablet. It has a combination DVI-I, and DVI-D connection, and a USB connection. The USB connection is obvious, but the multiple flavors of DVI are not. What do I need to get from my MINI-DVI port to the Cintiq? I know that a mini-dvi to dvi adaptor is needed, but I am unsure as to which freaking cable I need, and I'm kinda ****** that the people in charge of 'standards' have made this so god **** confusing.

The Apple mini-DVI-to-DVI adaptor provides a DVI-D connection (only). You must use a DVI-D cable to connect it to an external monitor's DVI input (Apple's silly adaptor won't accept a DVI-I cable.) It makes no difference whether you use a 'single-link' or 'dual-link' cable
It also makes no difference whether the monitor's connector is DVI-I or DVI-D; the iMac isn't capable of driving a dual-link monitor, so the dual-link wires in the cable (if any) will be unused.

You need to contact iTunes support.  Open up iTunes on your computer, and click the "contact us" on the bottom of the page.

  • Panasonic DMC-FZ8?

I might buy the above camera (rather than, say, a Canon PowerShot S3 IS), especially for its RAW mode, but judging from http://www.apple.com/aperture/raw/cameras.html , it isn't supported.
    I'm therefore wondering:
    1) is there any indication it will be supported soon?
    2) is there an acceptable workaround (such as an external conversion tool, or editing some .plist file)?
    Other recommendations?

As mentioned in the thread above, the problem occurred using iPhoto, and I didn't have the heart to try an import using Aperture. The only reason I've posted in this thread is because it calls for OS-level support (because of Apple's silly choice not to make RAW/camera formats application-dependable) for this camera, and I wanted to add my voice to that. If Aperture imports the photos, then fine, that's great, but the fact that it still doesn't recognize them means Aperture is of 0 use to me, so it matters to this thread. I'm picking up Adobe Lightroom instead, since it offers support for DNG.
Thank you, however, for the tips on backing up to DVD, etc. I will be implementing a similar system in the future. I just will no longer be trusting Apple's photographic applications with my data, since their level of suckage currently appears to be high.
The images are gone, they cannot be undeleted since the card has been used a few times since then. The problem was that I was happily importing into iPhoto believing that it was actually importing the images it deleted from the card. Today I checked the iPhoto library and saw all I had were JPGs, rather than RAW files. I ran a test and saw that iPhoto does in fact delete these files even though it doesn't import them. And you say Aperture does import the files...have you tested it with this camera/RAW format and successfully imported the files? If not, then please do so before making a statement like that...I'd hate for another Panasonic user to lose hundreds of RAW photos because they believe in the wrong info.

  • Is 5S accelerometer issue going to be fixed?

I was about to upgrade my iPhone 4S to the 5S until I discovered the Accelerometer bug here: http://gizmodo.com/heres-why-the-iphone-5s-accelerometer-is-so-screwed-up-144596 6306 .  As I understand it, Apple switched to a Bosch unit that is 4X less accurate than what is currently in the iPhone 5 and my 4S.  I believe the switch was done because the Bosch unit used less power (4X less accurate so that makes sense it uses less power, lower frequency sampling).
This problem obviously can't be fixed via software or OS updates so it appears to be hardware ONLY fix.
I went to an Apple retail (and a Verizon store) store to find out if they hand any iPhone 5S in stock.  They said no and indicated a 2-3 week minium before they expect to see any new shipments.
    So my questions:
    1.  Are the shipment delays realted to fixing the Accelerometer (replacing the Bosch unit)?
    2.  If no, Is Apple going to try to "mask" the problem via software updates similar to how they approached the iPhone 4 antenna problem?
Please don't take this into the "speculation" process, Apple obviously know about it as do most of the world.  And Apple obviously know if they are going to fix it and/or address it with a masked solution.  Please no Apple fanatic responses, just the facts please.  I can wait for the iPhone 6 if nothing is going to get fixed in  the 5S.
    Rob

There is no factless speculation, but I can see you are intent on getting this thread deleted under false accusation of speculation.
The article I linked with the iPhone 5S demonstrates the problem that exists, fact, not fiction.  A simple Google search will result 1000's of links to other sources that demonstrate the exact same problems with accelerometer.
Honestly, responses like this do NOT encourage end consumers to buy Apple products.  And making ridiculous claims that facts about the 5S can only exist if they come from Apple is silly.  Hopefully people will see thru your attempts to get this thread deleted.

  • IOS 7.1 problem !!!

iOS 7.1 battery drains a lot and is it apple doing silly mistakes can't believe this !!!! I guess this company is ended up with Steve jobs and Steve wouldn't have let to do silly mistakes !!! Now company needs only money !!!! Steve saw vision in working with products !! Never thought about money this tells a lesson that work on products not to make money in different ways ! If u work on products money comes back of you and u no need to run behind money!!

Please look at my post in this other topic. Maybe it will also help you out. Since Apple now have allowed apps to run in the background although an app is closed it could really drain the battery as i had with an app called Scoupy. But this could occur with any app.

  • What can replace zinio magazine app/how access magazines on playbook?

    Hi,
I would like to read a few magazines on my playbook but Zinio offers no cost savings off the sale price.   Is there some other app to use?  Rogers next issue doesn't work on playbook.

As for the adult-material censorship, things haven't changed one bit. The only "comforting" news is that (as I knew) Android devices are enforcing the same policy. I wrote to Zinio complaining about the issue, and asked them if they were not considering an alternative way of letting us read those magazines (such as complimentary pdf copy), and this was the quite brutal answer, that made me cancel my Zinio subscription.
Thank you for contacting Zinio Customer Support.
Apple, The Android Market, and other providers restrict adult content for mobile devices.  Until they eliminate these restrictions, Zinio cannot provide adult content for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Android. Zinio is not considering any options for making the content available to mobile devices at this time.
I understand that this is not "their" problem not their fault, but still, there are a lot of services providing adult material for iOS devices, such as mobile friendly websites... and then apps such as goodreader or bookman allowing you to load whatever material you want...
Bottomline: on the one hand Apple are a bunch of hypcrites, favoring the "as long as you do it yourself" rule. I am not one of those making a lot of fuss about the way manufacturers treat their employees at Foxconn & co., but **** what, it is not moral to read adult magazines but it is moral to treat workers as slaves? I hardly think so...
On the other hand, distributors such as Zinio should make an effort to bypass Apple's silly regulations. I am sure that if they provide iOS users with a free copy (maybe don't make it super high quality, password protect it, I don't know) of adult-magazines they would prevent users from ditching their subscription and go for illegal pdf copies...

  • PDC on Auxes

    Simple question:
Does LE 7 (or LP7 for that matter) support PDC on aux channels?
I know it supports PDC on busses, but it would be nice if it also did so on auxes, since this is the only way to get multiple outputs from a plug like BFD, and these outputs need to be processed (and can't be further sent to busses, because of Apple's silly crippling of LE!)
Anyway, just wondered if anyone knew for sure.

Actually it has. Freeview+ boxes use it, the effect however can be patchy as it requires the broadcaster to send the correct signal.
The Vbox is not Freeview+ and doesn't support the feature.
I used to use PDC on analog but found that about 10% of the time the broadcaster would screw up the signal. Either they would send it slightly late, or (and this is the really annoying one) they would send the stop signal early, sometimes just minutes after the start. This wasn't that long ago either.
    So it's not a panacea.

  • Purchases gone missing in Zinio reader app

I have recently purchased several publications for Zinio through the app and was charged through iTunes. However, after upgrading to IOS 8.0.2 and re-installing the Zinio app all my purchases have seemed to have disappeared. I have contacted Zinio who can't find my publications. Has anybody else had the same issue? Does anybody know how to resolve it?
    Many Thanks in advance

  • Itunes and multiple machines

Ok I'm starting to understand why some people find itunes aggravating.
I have 3 macs in our home, an apple tv(silly us), and 2 iphones. My main machine is a mac pro and we have two laptops. The mac pro does an amazing job keeping the apple tv synced(wirelessly) and the ipods. However I run into problems with the laptops.
I'm considering using chronosync to keep the music folders synced up. The problem is while I can easily copy the itunes folder I of course don't get all of the playlists, etc. And that doesn't tell itunes on my laptops that their's new music that it hasn't indexed.
    * So Question - if I copy over the itunes library files to the laptops- will that transfer the song and playlists over correctly - or will there be volume/directory problems.
Has anyone written a utility to make this process easier?
    Apple if your listening -
    * port the excellent syncing code that you use on apple tv to your normal machines. If I'm allowed to authorize 5 machines for my itunes content - allow me to easily move my data to those machines. As I stated Apple TV does a great job remotely - just extend this functionality to my macbook and macbook pro.
    * please add functionality to detect new files in a folder and automatically add them to the library. This way if I acquire new content I can just do a simple chronosync to move the files over.
    * Ideally if my wife buys a song with her iphone or on her laptop - we want that music to be added to the "ecosystem" and synced back to the main machine. Luckily she mostly just buys CDs and I rip them for her - but it's a pain.
Anyway thx for the help. And if this is a dead horse I apologize.

    I agree:
I have a G4 at work and an iMac at home, one ipod nano, and would like itunes to allow me to duplicate what the excellent "rsync" unix utility does:
    keep it all in sync.
I don't want to care where I download podcasts or tunes off itunes store, I just want to get that on my nano and into my other library behind the scenes.
This business of "You can only sync to one Library at a time - would you like to erase everything blah blah blah" is wrong. I bought a lot of cool mac stuff, make it so it works together and amps my stokage.

  • Zinio Reader App Content Restrictions in Place

Just a heads up to anyone looking forward to buying an iPad and enjoying e-magazines in their Zinio library, including adult ones, with the Zinio reader app.
I use Zinio on my computer and enjoy e-magazine delivery, both for general as well as adult magazines. I was quite excited that an app for the iPad was announced quite quickly.
This is my first Apple product in quite some time, and I did realize Apple does not allow adult-oriented apps per se. That said, I wrongly assumed a magazine app such as Zinio that works on subscription material from the provider would work regardless, as the app is just a magazine reader - you decide what content goes on it (a lot like PDF's in my mind).
Unfortunately, it seems Apple has restricted the Zinio content in your library you can see to general magazines; any adult titles simply don't show up. Further research on the Zinio sites leads to a FAQ indicating that Apple indeed is currently not allowing adult magazines to be used on iPad.
Obviously I'm disappointed by this and hope Apple changes their stance on it (as I guess Kindle titles are not filtered in this same manner, granted being adult but text only).
At any rate, just thought I'd post this in case anyone is hoping to have their whole magazine library available. Not possibe yet. (And the online reader is flash based, so that's out also).

  • TS3048 mac keyboard with iMac and Office Word... down arrow goes up and up arrow goes down... left goes right and right goes left... what's the problem?

My keyboard is going the wrong way... down arrow goes up and up arrow goes down, only with microsoft word though... weird ! Any help would be appreciated! Thank!

    Dear Daddy Paycheck
Your comment "a cheap" usb keyboard would work made me realize that I don't need to go to apple and purchase a new keyboard just to troubleshoot
I just figured that it had to be an "apple" keyboard, silly me!
so I just went and got my old compaq keyboard from my old computer in the trash pile. heck, a few quick requests to push the z and ? keys and it works great.
the apple now has tears on it, cause of the compaq keyboard, but too bad, it shouldn't have broke!!!! this compaq keyboard is 9 years old and still works great, why would I go spend $30 on another apple keyboard that only lasts 1 year??!

  • Keys don't work; 4 5 6 + up/down arrow and right shift

Some keys stopped working the num keypad 4 5 6 + 9 (the whole row), the up and down arrow and the right shift. All other keys work
I saw a post with the exact same problem, however with no solution, which makes me wonder if it's a configuration thing?
I went into the keyboard shortcut settings and hit restore defaults, the computer has been restarted many times. I looked at the international settings (input tab) and noticed that "character palette" with unicode script is selected along with u.s. keyboard roman script. I assume this is correct ( I unchecked character pallett" just to see what would happen, no help, so I checked it back on.
    please help.....

  • How to backup to my Mac iPad backup in iCloud

I received a notification by email that lets me know that I'll have to free up space of my iCloud storage, this because the 20GB plan expires automatically and is gonna downgrade to 5GB this september 30th. I need to backup back to my Mac a backup of my iPad. I cannot find out the way to do it. Apple, "thanks" for the courtesy of let me use this "stunning" 20GB backup service but you are obligated to supply a easy way to recover our data. Those elegant and simple Apple's manners are gone.

Sorry for the complaint, never thought this "free" space were intended for contemplation. Then this guys who pay doesn't have a backup tool? Nothing to thank to Apple, common silly. Talking about brilliant advices: go and get a girl, handsome . Don't make me cry with this overwhelming story of Apple's carities.
