Apple Keyboard with Windows XP

I bought an Apple keyboard to replace my aging keyboard.. love it, except for one thing.
I am an overclocker, and when I tried to get into the BIOS using the delete key, I couldn't get in. Nor with F10 or F2 or anything.
Is there some way I can get in? I hate having to hook up my standard keyboard just for that.
Thanks.

My original was a PS/2.
Now that I think of it, I might have forgotten to enable the USB keyboard in the BIOS.
I will try that.

  • Using Apple keyboard with Windows (bootcamp)

Does anyone have a cheat sheet for using a wired Apple keyboard with Windows 7 (the bootcamp setup)? I like to use keyboard shortcuts, both in OS X and in Windows. When I switch to my Windows partition, I haven't figured out the key combinations to use on the Apple keyboard.
UPDATE: Never mind. I found it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5636?viewlocale=en_US

  • HT4112 how to use apple keyboard with window 7

I know a lot of people have asked this question, but I could not find a anwser that works. I am using an apple keyboard with my windows 7 laptop. I could not change the delete key to delete, apple keyboard delete button is backspace, not delete. Of cause, I have to use the on screen keyboard to log in each time becaue there is no delete button on apple's keyboard. Can some one provide a simply method to convert my apple keyboard to windows keyboard? Thanks and I appreciate your help.

Are you using a wireless Apple kbd or USB keyboard?

  • Apple keyboard with Windows 7 RC

I'm currently sharing a mac aluminum keyboard (one of the new, thin ones) between my Mini and a pc tower. The right half of the keyboard--the number pad, etc--don't work on the PC side of this arrangement, although the rest of the keyboard does.
Are there drivers I can install, either as a modified version of Bootcamp or from an external source that would fix this issue?

    Hey,
Do you have a wireless or wired keyboard?
You can download the Boot camp drivers for Windows and install in the Windows OS. Try that method. For me it is working fine both wireless and wired. However I am working with a virtual machine Windows 7 RC and Windows Vista on my Mac Book.

can i use a non-apple keyboard with my imac?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can use the keyboard you want with your iMac. However, note that some keys, as the Command key, aren't present in non-Apple keyboards. For example, in a non-Apple keyboard, you have to press the Windows key because that's the replacement of the Command key of an Apple keyboard

  • Using ALT+cursor function of apple keyboard for windows program

Not sure where to ask this question, but here goes. My company uses a web based transportation routing program I can access from my home computer, (which is a Mac using Mac, not windows).
Using the program requires the ability to often select or deselect lines from a group of lines to send to be routed. Using a Microsoft keyboard I would simply press ALT and then select with the cursor the lines I want. When I am using my apple keyboard this does not work.
I know that the command key takes the place of the ALT key, so you would think that I would simply press Command and select with the cursor, but this does not work. Therefore all I can do is select all or none.
Anyone have a idea of another combination of keys that will work for this?
    Thanks
I am using the standard apple keyboard with the numeric keys

Not sure why that isn't working. I have a page displaying below from the Apple Support website, with three different lines selected:
The purple highlighted lines are all selected independently of one another. Maybe it is the type of webpage or data?

  • HT5636 I am using an Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.

I have a new Mac OSX 10.9.2. I am using Bootcamp to run WIndows 8.1.
I have just connected a new USB Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.
All works fine in OSX. But in windows the numeric numbers on the keypad wont work.
Numlock appears to work, but nothing happens when the number keys are pressed.
The keys / * - +and entre all work ok. Just not the numbers.
MIcrosoft SUPPORT REFUSED to help me because i am using a mac, they claim it is a hardware problem.

I would look for a program which would display the ascii value of typed letters
if i had the letter the key send one can assign that value to any other function one wish
    https://www.google.dk/search?q=program+which+display+the+acsii+of+typed+letters& oq=program+which+display+the+acsii+of+typed+letters&aqs=chrome..69i57.11855j0j4& sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=program+which+display+the+ascii+of+typed+let ters&spell=1
if the program would get no ascii value from the num keyboard then I suppose ms were correct
if not then there are tons of free programs to reassign keys as one see fit
and even if they were not to work one can do it manually in regedit in windows

  • Aluminum Keyboard with Windows

I have Parallels set up on my Mac mini to run a couple Windows apps for which there is no Mac equivalent...
Overall, I have no issue with the Apple keyboard within Windows except for two keys - Home and End.
What happens is Home only moves the cursor one character left, and End likewise only goes one character right.
Checking in the drivers for the keyboard, it's only recognized as a generic keyboard.
Are there drivers specifically for this keyboard to allow Windows to properly interpret all the keys as they should be?

    No
Why don't you just configure/map those keys to other keys on the keyboard in Parallels preferences? For other specific questions regarding Parallels you should probably post them on the Parallels forums:

  • Apple Keyboard with number pad doesn't work with Mac Pro?

I have a Mac Pro, and have used an Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth) with it for quite a while, with no problems. But then my keyboard broke and I ordered a replacement Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth). This keyboard doesn't work with my Mac Pro. I have it plugged in, but I can't get the Mac Pro to consistently recognize that there is a USB keyboard connected to it. What magical stuff do I have to do to get the keyboard to be fit for purpose?

It would not hurt to try an SMC Reset. (But if it does not help, it adds credence to lllaass assertion that the keyboard is not working.)

  • Apple Keyboard with number pad the V key will not work

Apple Keyboard with number pad the V key will not work.  Everyother key works but not the V.  I have a MacBook Pro.  Any suggestions?

Call AppleCare and get it replace if it's under warranty; otherwise, get a new one. They're only $49 USD.

  • Why doesn't my forward delete key work on my apple keyboard with numeric keypad?

I bought a wired apple keyboard with numeric keypad to pair with my Mac Pro (late 2013) and when I try to use the forward delete key, it does nothing. I have even tried to use the fn + delete shortcut and that doesn't work either. I'm using OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Again, waking up an old thread:
I first used an air compressor, set around 50psi, to "air out" all the ports.
Then I used a clean cloth to dab a bit of alcohol on an SD card's contacts... slid it in and out several times, dabbing a little more alchol each time... and voila!
All of our SD cards now seem to work fine... recognize, read, eject...
Also used alcohol to clean the contacts on all the cards.

  • Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

My Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad stopped working after updating with Yosemite.  I had to connect the Bluetooth keyboard.  Am I the only one with this problem?

    Hi Sam20051972,
Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
I understand how frustrating it can be when your USB keyboard is not longer functioning the way you would expect. The first set of troubleshooting steps I would recommend are the ones located in the attached article. Please use the article as a reference.
None of the keys on my keyboard work

If your MacBook shipped with an install disc you'll have to use that. If it didn't you should be able to use Internet Recovery OS X: About OS X Recovery
EXactly which macbook do you have?

  • Apple keyboard with large print?

I use an iMac at work and home. I am visually impaired and find it hard to see the letters on the keyboard. Is there an official Apple keyboard with large print letters? I don't want to buy a 3rd party keyboard that doesn't have all the functions. Would be happiest if Apple could provide me with such a keyboard to replace the standard one??
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
To get a keyboard with large letters you're going to have to go with a third-party keyboard. What functionality do you think you'd have to give up? There are quite a few third-party keyboards made specifically for the Mac although any USB keyboard will work. And Mac USB keyboards work on a PC as well. I use an Apple Pro keyboard on my work PC & then only thing missing is a "Print Screen" button.
This forum is dedicated to the productivity application AppleWorks & is not a general forum on how Apple computers work. If you can't find a specific forum for your questions, in this case you're asking about hardware, the best choice is the forum on using your Mac in the category for your particular model of Mac.

  • '{' Key not working with Apple Keyboard in Windows & Visual Studio

    Good morning,
I've been bugged by this forever now and tried it with Windows XP, Vista and 7 now on my macPro & (the latest version of) Bootcamp: I can type the { and } brackets just fine in most windows apps (e.g. start > run etc), but in visual studio, for some reason the 'ctrl + alt + 7' (for the '{') does result in the whole line being commented with // instead of the expected opening '{'. 'ctrl + alt + 0' ('}') does however work just fine.
Now I am really not sure why this is happening, but it's the same for VS2008 and the VS2010 beta and developing in C# without a proper '{' combo is somewhat.. difficult
Has anyone ever come across the same behavior and knows what to do?
    Cheers and thanks,
    -J
