Apple Keynote - podcast constantly downloads

Hi folks
I've got an issue where the most recent Apple Keynote (the 22 October 2013 one - new iPad Air etc) downloads constantly to my mac.  The result of this is that I have consumed 100Gb of data in less than 24 hours.
I thought this would be easy to resolve - delete the podcast. Not so fast! It refuses to be deleted, keeps reappearing and starts downloading yet again.
Any ideas what I can do?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
Andy

Same problem here.  That same keynote downloaded about 10 times overnight (last week) but I didn't end up with 10 copies, only 1, they seemed to get deleted after being downloaded but used up a lot of bandwidth overnight.
Once I noticed that it was happening I stopped the downloading cycle/loop and then triggered the download again by clicking on the cloud button next to the podcast entry.  Once downloaded I synced it to my iPhone and I thought everything was all good.
This morning I noticed that the podcast was no longer in iTunes on my computer but my iPhone still has it.  I have not watched it so it didn't delete it because it had been watched.  I re-downloaded it to my computer by clicking the cloud button.
Then I clicked the podcast refresh button (3 quarter circle with an arrow at the top, left of the podcasts window) and the podcast got deleted and started to re-download!  I can't get this to stop happening, probably have to unsubscribe from the podcast.
My settings for this podcast are:  Subscribed with keep "Last 5".
I would also note that this is not a new problem, I have had this before with this very podcast.  Previous keynote podcasts have re-downloaded themselves multiple times but this time it seems to be happening more often for some reason.
iTunes 11.1.1 (11) on Mac OS X 10.8.5 but, as mentioned above, I have had this problem in the past with older versions of iTunes and Mac OS X.

  • IPad cannot play "Back to the Mac" Apple Keynote Podcast ???

Are you kidding me??? Why isn't Apple publishing its own podcast in an .m4v format the iPad can play?
So much for the "integrated" ecosystem Jobs touted in the earnings call Monday...

What I did a few hours ago is deleted the file from the podcast in iTunes, then right-click on the Apple Keynotes podcast feed header and Update Podcas, right-click on it again afterwards and Show all available episodes, then finally download it again. I now have a file which is reported by iTunes as 1,004.4MB and by Finder as 1,053,109,240 bytes - different from the filesize on my previous download - and this file now DOES correctly play on my iPad (and iPhone4 and AppleTV).
My guess is either (1) Apple re-published the file to the podcast feed after some of us had downloaded it (and it got cached various places too) and/or (2) some problem with their content distribution network meant there were some "bad" copies of the file able to be downloaded (depending on which CDN server a user's download request happened to get satisfied by).
Anyway, deleting and re-downloading - and doing no other fiddling - worked fine for me.

  • Apple Keynotes not completely downloaded

I have just recently downloaded the 2008 Apple Keynote address, the 2007 Aple Keynote address, the March 6 Event: iPhone Software Roadmap, and WWDC 2008 address podcasts. But there is one problem with all of them. The last 15 minutes or so are cut off! It will play the entire address, but when it gets to the last 15 minutes, the pictures and sound just freeze! What's wrong?

I guess this means your Shrine to Steve Jobs will not be complete!
I have no idea why it is doing that to you, but I couldn't resist the dig. Sorry.

  • Where is Today's (9/1) Keynote Podcast for Download?

Amazing that it is NOT easily found on itunes...

Usually they release it on itunes under Apple Keynotes a few days later.

  • Keynote podcast won't play

I have subscribed to the Apple Keynote podcast and downloaded the latest one
It plays fine in iTunes but when I sync to the phone and try to play it
I get the message: "Movie could not be played"
Tried unsyncing it...(Apply) and resyncing it and ...same thing.
I've played these before OK on the phone.
No other similar problems...just on this podcast
    any suggestions?
    thanks
    Pete

    OK thanks
Now I don't get this... its the first time I've downloaded anything on the phone through iTunes
When you watch it is your Wifi connected?
If I click on the Keynote in iTunes it first took about 40 mins to download (?)
Now when I click to play it takes a few minutes to load the movie then begins to play OK
However if I disconnect the Wifi it says it needs to connect to it again to watch the movie
What I would like is to have the video completely downloaded to the phone like all the other podcasts and videos I have copied onto the phone.
I notice this one is not listed under video - only visible through iTunes.
    any suggestions?
    thanks
    Pete

  • Error downloading last Apple Keynotes?

When I try to download a new episode of the Apple Keynotes podcast, a gray exclamation mark appears in the far left column. When I click it, this message appears:
"There was a problem adding "Apple Special Event September 2009" to iTunes.
The file might be corrupted, or a file type that iTunes cannot play."
Im using iTunes 9 but I tried on iTunes 8 same problem give me too..

It seems that there are some problems depending on the ISP you have. If I try to download it using my home ADSL connection, the file does not download and says it is corrupted, but if I try to download it using my 3G connection it downloads without any problem... Don't know why though...
for the record, my ISP is cable internet from UPC in Czech Republic.

  • Cannot download latest Apple Keynote

When I try to update my podcasts to download the latest Keynote video podcast, it starts to try to download and then just stops, leaving an exclaimation mark beside the name of the podcast. Refreshing just causes the same thing to happen again.
All other podcasts update with no problems.
    Anyone else seeing this problem?

I've just read another thread about the Apple Keynotes Podcast, September edition. Is this the one you were having trouble with? Check the thread; http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10208065#10208065.

  • Problems when downloading keynote podcast.

when i try to download the oct. 14 keynote podcast, it downloads about 99% of the podcast and then itunes freezes up and my computer starts to run super slow. ive tried downloading it several times but each time it freezes. what should i do??

i tried going to the website and it tells me tha the media is not available. then i tried going the the main website (http://release.theplatform.com/) and it asks me to login with a user name and password. so, if you are trying to download the podcast from this link it is probably not available anymore.

  • How/where can i download old Apple keynotes ?

I would like to download previous Apple keynote presentations, like WWDC, etc...

All of you responding thus far have been misinterpreting the original poster's inquiry. They are not asking about the presentation app Keynote. They are asking about the Apple WWDC Keynote Presentations.
As to the answer to the question originally asked, this is the App Store community forum. So I can see how the others got confused. Next time ask your question in the appropriate forum.
You can find old WWDC keynotes in iTunes' Podcasts section. Just search for "Apple Keynotes" and you'll find them no problem.
The SD versions go back to 2007, the HD ones only as far back as 2011.
If you want to keep any of the presentation videos, it might be a good idea to click the little cloud icon to download the podcast episode from the server.

  • I'm unable to download Apple Keynotes vids and iTunes gimme an Error code (403)

I'm unable to download "WWDC 2008 Keynote address / Apple Keynotes" and iTunes gimme an Error code (403). Would anyone tell me what to do?

Either the service did not install when you set up iTunes, or it has been stopped for some reason.  If you are using Win7, go to the start orb, click, type services at the bottom. Then look in the window that opens for the Apple service(s), and start them all.  Then reload iTunes and try again.  If you don't find an Apple service, then you will need to install iTunes again, and be sure it is the current (10.2) version.

  • Itunes is constantly downloading podcasts, deleting them, and redownloading them. How can i stop this?

Itunes downloaded 122gb in a single day last month, which pushed me well over my internet data cap. My podcasts are set to keep all unplayed podcasts, and to automatically download the most recent ones. These settings are what I've used successfully for close to two years now.
Today I installed Windows 8 RP, hoping to resolve the issue (and of course play more with W8RP). Started it up, subscribed to a podcast, the newest episode was downloaded (i had watched it on their website previously), i right clicked it and selected 'mark as played', it disappeared and was not redownloaded. As intended. So then i subscribed to my other 30ish podcasts and observed the downloads page in itunes for a bit. One completed, disappeared and never reappeared anywhere. It wasnt in podcasts at all. I waited for another one to complete, same thing happened. But when it disappeared from the downloads queue, the first one reappeared at the bottom of the downloads queue.
Any idea what's going on? googling didnt help in the slightest.

Your post creates more questions than I could imagine possible.

So, you are trying to use Windows 8 to resolve the issue of going over your data cap, is that correct? (Surely not!) But, watching, so it's a video - and then letting iTunes download the same video as a Podcast is the reason you're going over your data cap, isn't it?
But frankly, I'm confused about the nature of your issue. Is it that you go over your data cap, or that iTunes (and I have to assume you mean iTunes and not Windows 8 [RP]) is downloading the same Podcast twice?
Why do you need to manually set a Podcast to "mark as played", iTunes will do that for you when the Podcast ends? What has Windows 8 got to do with any of this?
And why are you subscribing to your other 30ish Podcasts after downloading Windows 8 (yet more of your data usage allowance)? You imply that you regularly listen (or watch) these Podcasts, so presumably you are already subscribed to them, so why subscribe again? Are you doing this in Windows 8 as well as iTunes?
Sorry if I sound negative; perhaps it's me, but I really don't understand what exactly you are doing, which suggests that whatever it is, is the reason for your issues. Maybe someone else will see the light and add to this post and sort out your problems, but if not, then perhaps it's because they are as confused as I am and can offer no useful advice.

  • With iTunes 10, Computer Still Freezing When Podcasts are Downloading

For the last several versions of iTunes, my computer has been slowing down a LOT while podcasts are downloading, especially when a new iT version is first installed. Then things improve over time. Now, with iTunes 10.1.1.4, it's horrendous. ITunes takes forever to open, and then causes my computer to become completely unresponsive. It doesn't respond to mouse or keyboard inputs, so I can't minimize it or shut it down.
Sometimes when that happens, I can't even open Task Manager, but when I can, it indicates that iTunes is using between 95 and 98% of CPU. In that circumstance, I can't even shut down iTunes with TM. After 15 or 20 minutes and all the podcasts have downloaded, I'm able to use my computer again, even with iTunes open.
It happens with all podcasts, but obviously it's more of a problem when a big pcast is downloading.
Today, I got the famous blue screen of death. All my programs had frozen and I was trying to shut down iTunes. The blue screen said "kernel data inpage error," whatever that means.
With past versions, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iT, but that has not helped.
All my other programs are working fine. Today I ran CCCleaner, AdAware, RegCure and Malware Bytes, but nothing changed. My McAfee anti-virus max scanning time is 10 seconds.
Any idea what could be going on here? Or how to begin troubleshooting this mess?

    Hi,
finally worked! I found this post and it has finally worked I understand it is the same as WHATHECK's answer so thanks WHATHECK!
You have to be certain that you have backed up your Library's and Playlists and that you are doing the one in the root (if like me you use a HD any old library/playlists instead of deleting them put them some were safe just incase and make sure you are re-creating the library from your root folder i.e user/music/itunes
    Anyone trying thishttps://discussions.apple.com/message/15093132#15093132
    Good luck!
Seriously thinking of not updating itunes next time...

  • HT1567 I have itunes and have not seen any of the podcasts I download updated past May 8th. Is there something wrong with my itunes that the podcasts are not uploading to my pc?

My itunes is not showing any of the podcasts I download past may 8th. Is there something wrong with my itunes?

Seconding this -- no podcasts have updated past May 8th. What is going on Apple?!?

  • I can't get any new podcasts to download.

I have subscribed and re-subscribed and nothing is helping.  I just keep getting the little greyed out exclamation point in a circle.  Any suggestions?  A couple months back I deleted my whole library and the Geek Squad was able to recover it and I got one podcast after that but nothing since.

Hope you found and fixed the problem before throwing the MacBook Pro across the room.
Had the same problem when my external drive filled up, and iTunes continued to try and downloads Podcasts. Seem the permissions get scrabbled..

Fixed the problem, podcasts started downloading correctly..

  • ITunes is splitting up my Keynote Podcasts!?

I have 11 episodes of Apple's keynotes that I have stored on my external Hard Drive, containing the rest of my iTunes library. I have clean installed OS X Lion and done all the updates, and opened iTunes, clicked "Add to library", added all the podcasts and media etc etc etc..... But when I click "Subscribe" ie, to Apple's KeyNote podcasts, it opens a new Podcast album with a 'Get All" button, BUT I HAVE THEM ALL !?
Is this an easy fix or am I not as blonde as I think?

Start at the beginning.... Grouping tracks into albums.
