Apple Location Services!
Hello,
This is not a wild cry of anger about Location services such as iCloud, I think that they are brilliant, and that is exactly my point.
At the moment I am unable, however hard I try, to find my Mac Book Pro on iCloud when I am at home, presumably because apple have not got my MAC address or location information so that my Mac can talk to the mother ship and work out where it is.
It works perfectly at my place of employment, but not at home with my personal router.
My Question is as follows:
Is there a service available for me to submit my MAC address and latitude/longitude co-ordinates to Apple, thereby allowing my home router to be recognised by location information softwares?

Ok.
So you are saying that the problem isn't with my router not being on the database, as I do live in a rural area and it is unlikely that a google vehicle has come here, instead you think that it is an issue with my router?
I was reading the link you posted regarding Back to My Mac, but that didn't seem to help me much. I can use all of the software described by that document (Screen Sharing, ssh, Network Printing, all network related things) so I'm not too sure what to make of it.
If my firewall is an issue, can I not just open up the required ports, or do some simple port forwarding. I also thought that my firewall isn't installed on the Router, but on my laptop, and I do not have issues with finding my location when on different networks, so that is also a little confusing.
Finally, what features would my router be required to support, to use location services?

How do I turn off the Genius app in App Store. I've gone to Settings/Privacy/Location Services/System Services then swiped Genius for apps 'off''. Also, I've gone to Settings/ITunes and App Stores/Click on AppleID/View Apple ID and then turn off Genius. Still nothing has worked. I'm still stuck with Genius offering the same apps to me. Mind you, once I click on the App Store there is nothing I can do but swipe left and right. There's absolutely nothing at the bottom of the screen like a features tab, nothing. FWIW, I just got off the phone with Apple technical support about this. I use Genuis for creating playlists, so I don't want to disable it, but Apple support confirmed that there is no way to avoid syncing Genius data without disabling Genius altogether. I'd read somewhere else that subscribing to iTunes Match might allow you to avoid this, but that is NOT the case, as I've confirmed, and Apple support has confirmed. For me, it routinely syncs thousands genius of items, so I have to allow a lot of time for my manual syncs.

I have upgraded my iPhone 5 with iOS7 and I can´t turn on location services. I have already restored the instalation of oOS 7 twice but no change. This should be the improvement of apple software? Does anybody have similar problem? Do you know how to solve it?
A workaround is to reinstall lazy apps, mostly for those that were restored but don't appear on notification center, eg. Whatsapp. In my case I have more than 500 apps installed.
We need a correct solution for this problem.
I also had this problem on the past moving from 4s to 5.
And now from 5 to 5s.
The only notifications working after restore in my iPhone are those from Facebook. -
Is it true Apple requires location services be turned on for photo uploading apps? If so, why?!
I can't think of one ethical reason why this should be mandatory information in regards to my photo storage online. I was told by Shutterfly, when I complained, that it was Apple's fault, not theirs. For real?
Any app that accesses existing photos or videos in your Camera Roll / Photos App must ask for access to location data because of the fact that the photos taken with other apps may have location data attached. This is a security measure put in place by Apple to protect your privacy.
If you're not convinced, try using an app that can either use existing photos or take a new one. If you turn off location services for the app in settings, you should get an error message when trying to load an existing image, but you should be able to take a photo in most apps like this without any issues.

if the location service is off but the phone is online, may i able to locate where it is by the serial number or my apple ID?
any one can show me a way, please helpNo. The only way to locate it is with Find my iPhone. If location services is off, you can't locate it.

HT5467 Why has Apple made it SO hard to access Location Services?
Location Services should be on iPhone, on bottom pull up menu, in place of Timer. You could then control GPS battery drain quicker. Now in latest version they have made it even hard to turn off because you now have to confirm closing. At create an easy mode for those who wish to control battery power usage and a longer deep in the setting menu like it is now for those that want to just lock all changes to Location and GPS usage.

Apple Configurator to turn on Location Services on Several iPads?
I use Apple Configurator to manage several iPads. How do I turn on Location Services on all my iPads? The option to this is not available on each iPad individually because of the restrictions I set using Configurator.

I have the same problem can't get my mail because they say I have to accept the terms of the new iOS7 but there is no where to do that ... fire the CEO and bring in a person who understands intuitive use of computers such as David Kelly ... I so miss Steve Jobs !

IPhone 6 location services/gps not working
Anyone else have an issue with iPhone 6 location services/gps not working? I have had it happen to me twice where it stopped working for good 7 or 8 hours and then all of sudden it starts working again. For example, directions don't work, every time I open Apple Maps it will say "Cannot determine location", then when I press the location icon on the bottom left, it will try to search again and have an approximate location but not exact, where as the iPad that I have right next to it is able to pin point the exact location. Sometimes the location circle is pulsing blue sometimes its gray. If I am driving and have tracking on it won't track, and so on. I have tried to setup the phone as new without restoring the backup, when it stopped working with no luck, it still didn't work. I went and restore it back from backup and few hours later it started to work again. This has happened twice now since I got the phone last Friday.
Check your "Privacy" settings on your iPhone see what apps are using your location.

If you were running iOS 5 or higher, had enabled iCloud and Find My iPhone before losing it, you can go to icloud.com on your computer and try to locate it as outlined here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442. If it's turned on, still has Find My iPhone enabled, and has a connection to the internet, it should appear on the map.
If you didn't enable Find My iPhone before losing it you won't be able to locate it. -
My iPad 2 Location Service works fine but does not work on my home Airport router. How can I fix the problem?

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.

i downloaded ios7 my iphone 4s now isnt working i am unable to slide to unlock my iphone, yet my lock button at the top of my phone is broken and has been for sometime so i have been using the accessibility feature to lock and switch off my iphone i can still click on this button and i can still swipe up and down but i am unable to swipe too unlock and enter my passcode.. so i am thinking somethings wrong with the software? when i try to restore my iphone in itunes i am unable to as ios7 needs for location services to be switched off in iphone but i cant do this cos i cant get into my iphone, can someone please help me,,, please,,,
IF the device does NOT have a cracked screen or liquid damage and is in hardware warrenty.. apple can repair/replace the device for free.
Call apple tech to find out what your croverage is for fixing that button

Performance Issues with Location Services
I am having performance lag issues with most apps with location services turned on. This is a new issue that has crept up after update to iOS 4.2.1. Apps get slow and upon exiting the location service is still active as indicated by arrow icon in top right of screen. Any recommendation short of killing all location services? Note this even occurs in apple apps such as photos.
