Apple logo and Blue Screen freezes at boot up

I am frequently unable to boot up. The computer boots as far as the first blue screen with the Apple logo but the spinning pinwheel beneath the logo does not appear to signify any further booting activity. I have to switch off and switch on again. It freezes again at the same spot. So I do a PRAM reset and it works, but only for a couple of days or so before the problem returns. To provide some background, my MacBook Pro is 3 months old, I upgraded to Leopard 2 weeks ago using the upgrade option, and I use Bootcamp (which I updated with new drivers after the Leopard upgrade.) Since upgrading to Leopard, booting is MUCH slower than it was in Tiger. I have repaired permissions and received the following error messages after repair:
Warning: SUID file "usr/libexec/load_hdi" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources /DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Reinstalling MacOS does NOT fix the problem for me.  I'm still searching a solution !

If you mean the iTunes logo and a usb cable, you need to connect the phone to a computer with iTunes on it.  The device is in recovery mode.

    Hi,
Have you tried some of these? http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1533
The first things I would try would be to press shift during start up, this will boot into safe mode.
I think you'll need to purchase a copy of Snow Leopard to re-install the OS.
There's another couple of suggestions here; http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417 where you can boot into single user mode and look at repairing disk permissions if that's the problem.
I would hope that if you could boot into safe mode or single user mode, then that may automatically rectify your current issue. If not, then I'm pretty certain that a fresh install will be the ultimate answer.

My iphone 5 died so I plugged it back in to charge and it will not turn on. It will turn to the screen with the apple logo and black screen then turn off again. Any suggestions?

I leave it charging until it gets back to full, usually it turns on after a little bit of time after plugging it in, but all its doing is going to the apple logo screen and going blank again.

  • Help.  ipad air flashes between white apple logo and unlock screen?

help.  ipad air flashes between white apple logo and unlock screen?  how do i fix this ?

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • What to do when the apple logo and black screen persist (apple tv)

What to do when the apple logo and black screen persist,  when connecting apple tv.

Have you unplugged from the power for 30 secs and retried?
If it constantly still does that it may have become corrupted and you'd need to restore via iTunes:

I think we need more clarification.
What do you mean by "download"? Only updates are available as downloads, the System software has to be installed from a DVD.

  • Blue Screen Freeze When Booting

I posted this problem in the 10.5 area and haven't had many bites. Thought I'd put it here too and see if some iBook owners might have dealt with this. I hope so anyway.

I have been working this problem over the weekend and still have no resolution. Another board member was assisting me in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1927017
My G4 iBook froze up the other night while using Safari. I could not force quit or get any response from the keyboard. I shutdown holding the power button until the compter shut off. When I restarted things seemed to be going fine, I got the grey screen with the Apple logo and the turning gear. After a minute or two it goes to the blue screen and stays there. The HD stops spinning and it will go no further.
I tied to boot from the install disc, doesn't work. I tried to boot in safe mode, doesn't work. I tried to boot in target firewire, doesn't work. I can boot into single user mode. The other user gave me a bunch of things to try in single user mode, and it appears all things are good. Permissions are good.
I don't have any really valuable information on the laptop, I'm fine with reformatting the HD and starting over. I just can't get it to boot up for me to do that. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this from the terminal in single user mode? Anybody have some brilliant idea for me?
Thanks for anything you have to offer.

    Dread Pirate Roberts:
The fact that you can boot into Single User Mode is a bit curious, but it indicates that the computer is functional. Why it won't boot from the optical drive, or in Safe Mode or normally is mysterious. I suggest that you make an appointment online at your local Genius Bar and have them take a look at it. There is no charge for the service. They will tell you what they think is wrong and what it would cost to fix it.

  • Ipod won't turn on, flashes between apple logo and white screen

Our ipod touch won't turn on, it has been charged,  but doesn't register anything on the screen.  All that happens is it flashes between the apple logo and a white screen.  My son says it's not been dropped/wet etc.  Any suggestions?
    THanks!

Tried it, it still shows the apple logo.  While holding home and power it flashed to a back screen then the apple logo popped back up....

  • Flashing apple logo and white screen on I Phone 3GS

Hi, while updating all apps via the itunes store, my phone has crashed.  The phone was unconnected and updating on 3G, which I have never had any problems doing before.  It is constantly flashing the apple logo followed by a white screen then back to black screen again.  The white screen sometimes has a black vertical line down the middle.  It's very aesthetically pleasing.  Can't turn it off, can't reset it.  Not visible in itunes or my computer, help!
I've tried connecting it to 2 different PC's, it does not appear on either.  I don't get the red slider if I try to power it off.  If I hold both buttons for 10 seconds to reset, it just restarts flashing the same again.

sounds like you're having a hardware failure.  You should bring it in to Apple for evaluation

  • Apple logo and white screen flashing

After I installed 5.0 Beta 7, the 3Gs phone restarted like normal, and now the apple logo screen and a white screen are flashing. I've tried turning it off and holding the home screen button to get it where it shows "connect to itunes" but wont even go to that screen. what to do?????

I had the same issue and posted this question to the developer forums:

  • I just got a new ipod touch 4g yesterday and it is stuck on apple logo and loading screen

i just got a new ipod touch yesterday. i was uploading it today. when i was downloading the new software 5.1 it does the same thing it did to my old one which was a ipod touch 4g also. it goes to the apple logo then the loading screen then it turns white, then it does it all over again. i have done everything and and really getting annoyed. could it be the software? please someone help me.!

    - Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connect to computer and try to restore via iTunes.
    - If the iPod continues to cycle like you describe, let the battery fully drain. It may take a while. After charging for an hour try the above again.

  • What to do with the iPhone keep switch between apple logo and locked screen

Please help me with this , thanks

    Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first).
