Apple Logo Stays with a Circle Spinning (Late 2007)

I installed some RAM and I added a Mac OS X Leopard into my External Hardrive. I took out my external hardrive and I put it inside the macbook. So I turn it on and it comes with a apple logo. Few seconds, the circle is spinning. The last I had problem with it is that the circle in the bottom freezes out of no were. So since install a program on the external hardrive, now it shows a appe logo with the circle spinning. It been for 20 minutes doing that with out proceeding to the next step.
I am not sure if I should do the trick but I just know that it wont work correctly.
Please help and answer ASAP because I want this to WORK PERFECTLY !!!
Thank you,

  • How to remove apple logo frozen with loading circle on phone

i cant remove apple logo i tried to reset phone pushing for ten sec and now it wont do anything just loading circle bar somtimes moves i have it on the charger when i connect to comptuer my computer is unable to find harware its like this for a week now on the charger frozen

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. If you can't turn it off, please continue. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Then you can restore your phone:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

My 2011 IMac will not boot up past the White apple logo screen with the whirly circle. I have tried various commands but to no avail. does anybody have any advice?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

What operating system version, and do you have any backups of your data off the machine? TimeMachine? Option Key bootable clones? Storage? DVD's?
A reinstall of the operating system may be in order as a last resort, so if any of these steps on these links get you into the machine, make sure to backup your personal data (Music, Pictures, Documents, Movies) off the machine to a non-encrypted  powered external drive regular storage drive (not TimeMachine as it might be corrupted too) and disconnect as soon as possible.
Good Luck and report back all what you tried.
Also report what change occured before this tragedy happened, was there a  Software Update? A EFI firmware update? Etc.

Sounds like something internal was damaged in the fall, probably the disk drive. Take to Apple and ask them to fix it.

Have you tried connecting the iPod to different USB ports and/or another computer?
You can also take a look at this website, which may help figure out what's wrong with your iPod.

Finally, if your iPod is less than a year old, you can send it to Apple for replacement.

  • MBP won't boot up- stuck at grey apple logo? with gear spinning

    Ok here's my dilema ...
I've read posts about this same problem but I can't get this mbp to do any of the suggested fixes!!
    Here's where I screwed up....
I was playing around with iWeb 09' trying to make a better website for my company... when all of a sudden it wouldn't load from the tool bar it would bounce up and down once or twice and nothing would happen.
I then by mistake put the file on my desktop then wanted to get rid of it so I dropped it into my trash. oops!
Well then everytime I clicked on iweb it would say file is damaged or incomplete.
So when I got home from work I decided to try to reinstall the application with the app disk that came with my computer.
Well instead of being patient and figuring out how to install just the iweb app. I reinstalled the whole bundle !! oops again... I know I don't deserve to be a mac user !! but I've fell in love!!
OK now the install finished and it asked me to restart now so I did ... and this is where I'm stuck...
It restarts and goes to the apple grey screen with a small bar that starts to load and then disappears and gets stuck at the spinning gear.
I've manually ejected the disc by holding down the trackpad. And I put in the os x disc and tried to get into setup by holding down C after I hear the chime and until I see the spinning gear and that doesn't pull up anything!!
What should I do?? PLEASE HELP!!

  • Apple logo stays on and ipod will not turn on fully

Hi, I had a water bottle leak in my purse and my ipod stopped working, I sent it to Apple and they denied the service (ugh). It wasn't working when I sent it but now when I plug it in, itunes recognizes it and my pictures and stuff from it load into my computer, but the black background with silver apple logo remain on the screen of the ipod and it won't turn on fully. When I unplug it from the computer, the apple stays up and then later the circle "loading" thing appears behind the apple but it just remains that way until it runs out of batteries. I tried restoring it but it didn't do anything. What to do?
P.S. I bought it refurbished and its an 8gb.. 2nd generation I think

  • Apple logo alternates with picture of plug

    Hello,
I got my son's iPod that he used on a Mac. I'm not sure if it's a mini or just an iPod. It has 4 buttons under the screen (in order from L to R, Previous, Menu, Play/Pause, Next), and a totally white circle with a smaller circle inside that could be another button. I have a PC and, having gotten into the Restore process as listed below, however, I am stuck.
The Apple logo displays alternately with the picture of a plug that looks to me like the end of the USB cable that goes into the iPod (others in this forum have suggested that it's the USB end that goes into the wall adapter) with an arrow pointing away from it. These two images alternate back and forth, in a leisurely fashion, whenever the iPod is plugged into the PC, but only once when first plugged into the wall. So, here's what I've done so far:
    1) Bought the iPod to USB cable
    2) Plugged it in and was told not to unplug it, so I didn't
    3) Got a message to plug it into a wall socket; didn't have the adapter
    4) Two weeks later was able to buy the USB to wall socket adapter and plugged the iPod in
    5) Let it charge overnight
    6) Updated iTunes to 7.0
    7) Followed instructions in "Restoring iPod to Factory Settings" (article 60983)and all possible links from it that I could find.
I stalled out at the instruction to start iTunes and then plug the iPod into the USB port. Neither iTunes nor my computer can see it. iTunes does nothing, my computer tells me that there is an Unknown Device, and tells me that it can't recognize it no matter how much tweaking of the Device Manager I've done.
    8) I've googled "restore ipod factory settings" and followed all of those leads, and have repeated most of the above at least once, if not 5 times.
So, you are my only hope. Any and all suggestions, except to redo any of the above (unless relevant in some computer-logic sort of way), GREATLY appreciated!
    Warm Regards,
    Marcia

    Mitch,
Thanks for your quick response! I don't understand all that you've suggested (50+ and new to iPods & Macs), so will add my questions under each of your answers.
A: Firstly, the iPod is a 3rd Gen which can only get charged via Firewire cable (Not USB),
Q: When you say "Firewire cable" am I correct that it only plugs into a Mac?
A: but it can be sync with an USB cable.
Q: Not sure what you mean by "sync." Is this the step to Restore Factory Settings?
A: After that, have a charge of your iPod with the Firewire ac charger overnight before connecting with any computer - by the way, you can still charge the iPod with any computer with firewire port
Q: So, I charge the battery using a Firewire cable (on a Mac?), then connect the iPod to my PC to restore settings, download music, etc. Do I have that right?
Thanks for your patience with my lack of understanding. I'm very new to this world.
    Regards,
    Marcia

  • Computer won't load past grey screen with Apple logo, even with OS Disc

I turn on my computer and only gets to the grey screen with the Apple logo and idling circle. After a while, it loads a small box telling me to restart, time and time again, no matter how many times I restart. I've tried holding "shift" to go into safe mode, it won't let me.
I believe it's originally a Tiger platform, and right now I think it's running on Leopard.
I just bought a Snow Leopard OS X Disc, and I inserted it and tried to let it load. It gave me the restart box. I held down "c" while starting up, got the restart box.
Held down "option", and selected the "Mac OS X install Disc"; it went back to the grey Apple logo screen to load, and gave me the restart box after several minutes. Repeated that and held down "c" while loading, still gave me the box.
Nothing I do with or without the OS X Disc is making a difference. I cannot load anything on my computer, period.
Can someone please suggest something for me to try?

Well if you do then turn both computers off. Connect a Firewire cable between them. Boot your computer into Target Disk Mode. After the TDM screen appears boot the other computer normally. If your drive is accessible it will show up as a disk icon on the Desktop of the other Mac. You can then access your files and transfer them to another hard drive.
Then open Disk Utility. Your drive should appear in the sidebar list. Select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the Partition Scheme drop down menu to one. Set the Format type drop down menu to Mac OS Extended, Journaled, then click on the Partition button and wait for the process to complete.
Your drive should now be OK assuming it's not mechanically damaged. Eject the drive from the Desktop as you would eject any removable drive and disconnect the Firewire cable. Shutdown your computer. You can now boot from the installer disc and install OS X.
