Apple Loops no longer work!!!

Hi
I have a strange problem. I imported an apple loop from the Library>Audio folder into ProTools via drag and drop. Pro Tools created a copy of the audio file in the local ProTools audio folder. Strange thing is now the OS and all the iLife apps cannot access the original loop file. The OS says unrecognised file type. The only thing I noticed is the date of the original file was reset to today's date. All the other loops were dated 2005 and they work fine.
What gives? Is there any way to fix the corrupted files?
Someone should report this to apple, but I'm not sure how, and to whom?
Thanks
Regards
Mike

date of the original file was reset to today's date.
Then apparently ProTools modified it.
Try fixing it with Apple's Loop utility
http://developer.apple.com/sdk/#appleloops
Someone should report this to apple
It doesn't sound like an Apple problem, but rather a ProTools problem.

My third party lightning sd card reader sold to me in the Singapore Apple shop no longer works  under iOS 7

Having the same problem with one I bought with my iPad in the Regent Street Apple Store. Not sure why it wouldn't work unless the OS now needs the lightening Connector certificate to use a card now.
I am hoping there will be a fix real soon or maybe someone knows a work around?

  • Apple remote no longer works?!

    Hi everyone,
I recently replaced the 120 GB hard drive with a 200 GB hard drive, clean install (no disk imaging or time machine). I did it myself having seen it been done before and relatively knowledgeable about computer hardware. I grounded myself and was careful to put everything back as I saw it.
Everything went well EXCEPT *my Apple Remote no longer works*. The light in the button to open the laptop works fine and my remote works on other computers, but in System Preferences the option to pair the remote doesn't even exist anymore. I understand I probably screwed something up when I opened my laptop up, but I have a few questions first.
My first question is this: *Is there some sort of software setting/diagnostic that I can run to test the connection to the infrared receiver?*
My other question is: *Is there anything special I should know about the infrared receiver hardware? Any known issues, typical problems, or things I should check to make sure everything is connected?*
I've double-checked the connection, the receiver is DEFINITELY connected to the mini-strip (along with the button light).
    Thanks,
    - Keith

The Hardware Tests (boot from the install DVD and hold d) should show if the receiver isn't working.
In System Preferences/Security is "Disable remote control infrared receiver" checked by any chance, try checking/un-checking it and see if Pair lights up ? (I don't Pair, I leave it to work with any remote as I have three floating about)

  • Apple Remote no longer working?!?

I'm hoping someone can help me. All of the sudden my Apple Remote is no longer working with my Macbook. I checked to make sure the infrared sensor was not disabled and even changed the battery just in case. I know the remote is working because I can see the light blinking on the remote when I look at it through photo booth, but I still can't get it to work with my computer. I can't even get it to pair with it. I am running iTunes 8 and OS 10.5.5. Any suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this?? Thanks!

If you know someone else with an Apple remote, you might try theirs on your MacBook. Since the option to disable the IR receiver appears in the Security System Preferences we can assume that Mac OS X sees the receiver and the hardware is functioning. (If the IR receiver hardware or software had failed, it would not appear in the Security System Preferences.) So, that would seem to indicate a problem with the Apple remote. But, we can't really say that for certain unless you can prove a different remote does work. If you do go to the Apple store and can show them that the remote is not working, as long as you're still under warranty, they can probably just hand you a new remote. Or you could buy a new one if you're not still under warranty or AppleCare.

  • Apple Mail No longer working

My email has been working just fine until a couple of months ago.  I gave up however I do miss receiving email on my MacBook Pro.  I'm receiving my emails using my iPhone and if I log in to yahoo! however it stopped working with Apple Mail.  I have not changed any of the settings so I am puzzled why it is no longer working.  For the last couple of months I've been trying to figure out why but I've had no luck.
My email account is an sbcglobal.net account.  Also my other friend is having the same issue with his sbcglobal.net account.  So now I'm wondering if a lot of people are having the same issue.
    Any information is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Gilbert

When I open the 'Mail' app, it puts an exclamation mark next to my "Inbox" - "unable to receive mail - there may be a problem with the mail server or network.  Verify the settings for account "Home Email" or try again".

    Use custom port:  465
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is "checkedd"

Password is the same one I put under my incoming settings.

  • Multiple Apple Remotes no longer work with Apple TV!

I've been using Apple TVs since the minute Steve Jobs introduced them in 2007. I bought the 2nd and 3rd Generation Apple TVs the minute each of them were introduced. I've been watching every Apple Keynote Address since they were available online or on CDs from the early 1990s, on my HDTV via my latest Apple TV when that was possible. I watch far more TV through my Apple TV than via my Cable Box, much of it music and music videos from iTunes on my 2006 Mac Pro! But as of YESTERDAY I am seriously thinking of getting another, ANY OTHER manufacturer's similar internet streaming box!!!
WHY??? Because YESTERDAY, for no apparent reason except some programmer's or software engineer's stupidity, my Apple TV stopped working with all but ONE of my Apple REMOTES!!!
Why is that stupid? Because, in my household there are three people who use Apple TV all day, and each of them have an aluminum Apple Remote which they all use to control what the Apple TV is streaming. We have two other Apple Remotes lying around in case one of us misplaces his or her Apple Remote, which happens occasionally. ALL FIVE of the Apple Remotes, just like the beige plastic Apple Remotes that they replaced, always worked with all three of my Apple TVs! Then yesterday, suddenly, only the LAST Apple Remote that was paired with this 3rd Generation Apple TV is able to control it.
I've spent HOURS trying to fix this. This wasn't caused by an Automatic Update to the Apple TV's iOS; there has been no update in recent days. I've got Automatic Update turned on, just as I, a good Apple citizen, have my Apple TV set up to automatically send back Usage Data to Apple. I've rebooted my Apple TV. I've put brand new 2032 button batteries into my Apple Remotes. I pulled the power cord out of my Apple TV for 15 seconds and again for five minutes and then restarted it. As per instructions, I have Unpaired and re-Paired each and all of my 5 Apple Remotes. All to no avail. Only the last Apple Remote that was paired with the Apple TV works! Horrible. And STUPID, if it was a deliberate programming decision and it was introduced in a minor automatic update.
Worse, I've been using the Remote app on my 5th Generation iPod touch to replace ONE of the unusable Apple Remotes, and as of a couple of minutes ago even THAT stopped working with my Apple TV! Well, I was able to fix that fairly easily by pairing the iPod touch Remote app with my Mac Pro and then pairing it again with my Apple TV. But I don't think that solution would be so easy for many non-technologically-inclined users. I also don't think that a $200 or $300 iPod touch is a very acceptable replacement for a $20 Apple Remote, especially since everyone buys iPod touches for totally different uses (I use mine primarily for taking notes using voice-activated audio or video -- it is by far the best device for that purpose out there -- police departments should take note).
I'm hoping that this multiple Apple Remote problem somehow resolves itself, unless it is a hardware problem with my Apple TV. If so, I can hold out until Apple's media event next week, which I HOPE will premiere a new 4th Generation Apple TV, hopefully which will once again allow my five Apple Remotes to all control my Apple TV interdependently, without having to Unpair and Pair each one each time you wanted to use it, requiring you to quit whichever Apple TV app you were using each time, or alternatively to use Sneaker-Net to deliver the one working Apple Remote to each person who wants to use it, which can be difficult since at least one of the users is very ill! (Whew! A long sentence. But I hope you get the point.)
Two days ago, I could never have imagined myself getting a Roku or an Amazon, Sony, Microsoft or some other streaming device. It just proves how fast a stupid little decision (if it was deliberate) can turn EVERYTHING around!

People have a misconception with remote pairing (as does the description on this page -> Pairing your Apple Remote with your computer - Apple Support).
    The 1st paragraph is incorrect.
    The 2nd paragraph is correct.
"If you have several Mac computers or an Apple TV that use the Apple remote, or other devices with integrated infrared ("IR") receivers in one room, you can "pair" your Apple Remote with a specific Apple device so it doesn't interfere with other Apple devices or IR devices nearby.
Pairing allows you to set the receiving Apple device so that only it can be controlled by one remote. Learn how to pair your Apple Remote"
Pairing sets the device to read only a specific remote.
It does not set a specific remote to work only with a specific device. ie. if you point th remote at another Apple device (that is not paired) it will control it.

  • HT202157 Apple TV No Longer Works after the most recent update (2.1.13)

Why can I no longer access the movies and tv shows I’ve already purchased in iTunes after the update?  It was not until the most recent update as on 2/1/13 that I started having this issue.  Please correct this so I can use what I paid for.  Thanks

Same problem here, Apple, I'm pretty upset at the moment.  My daughter's 12th birthday, and she wants to watch a movie we purchased through your software.
We love the normal apple usage...but, since your hardware and software are so stringently ruled...I have some expectations on the fact that it will actually work after the updates.
Customer service outside the apple store has been suspect for some time.
Please step up here, we've invested quite a lot in you, and we're feeling a bit let down at the moment.
No notice, no warnings, for all the messages you do send out, "hey the stuff you bought from us and can only play it back on us isn't going to be working for a while"...would be nice.
    Or just fix it.

  • Apple remote no longer works under 10.6.2 on Mac Mini

Have just updated my Mac Mini to 10.6.2, only to find that it no longer recognises the white Apple remote at all. I have tried both a paired remote and an unpaired remote. I have even tried pairing the unpaired remote. Nothing works. The Mini simply does not recognise it.
This is really annoying as the Mac Mini is used as a media centre, and the remote is therefore used all the time through Front Row.
Anyone else got this problem and, if so, is there a solution? Thank you so much.

Candelair sadly didn't survive a restart on the Mac Mini, so I am back to not having any use of the Apple Remote whatsoever. Candelair had also caused some sound problems - the sound kept increasing and then decreasing.
I am not sure what Apple added into the mix with 10.6.2 but it is a real pain! When you use a Mac Mini as a media centre, you need the use of a remote. And no sound problems.
I am going to have to bite the bullet and spend hours today rolling back the Mini to 10.6 and then updating to 10.6.1 only if I can. 10.6.1 worked perfectly with the Apple Remote with just the Apple IR software.

  • RE: Library Sharing with Apple TV1, no longer works with Home Sharing on.

Let me begin by telling you what I have.
Last year I took my old 2006 XServe Dual Quad 2.8 GHz and moved it in my home which is hardwired, and set it to share my iTunes library (700 movies, 700 TV Shows and 16,000 songs) to my six Macs, 3 PC's and four Rev. 1 Apple TV's, thereby creating a cheap Kaleidescape Video Server System (www. Kaleidescape.com), and it worked great. However, when I introduced an Rev. 2 Apple TV into the equation, it, the Apple TV2 does not see the shared libraries on the XServe. It requires Home Sharing. The problem begins when I turn on Home Sharing for the Apple TV2, my Apple TV1's no longer see the Shared Libraries, and I have not be able to find a solution that allows me to run both TV's. In looking through the internet it appears the Traditional Sharing that I was used to, is going away with IOS. The question then becomes, is there a work around? Realistically, I cannot see why Apple would disable this feature as it works so well, and didn't require iTunes Authorization, which is user limited. Any ideas? I would really appreciate the help.

    Hi there catcherlojo,
It sounds like you have already tried a few things, but you may still find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.

  • My Apple Remote no longer works with Powerpoint 2008

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can no longer control Powerpoint 2008 with my apple remote!
iTunes still works fine play pause volume etc...
I have also tried iRed Lite, but this also does not work.
Do I now have a nice slim aluminium paperweight?

    I'm experiencing the same problem!

  • Apple Remote no longer works with VLC

Has anyone else come across this problem? Since upgrading to Leopard (Fresh Install) VLC 0.8.6c can no longer be controlled by the Apple Remote. Is this just another example of Apple (un)intentionally removing a feature?

Seems Videolan.org were aware there might be a problem with this:

The remote works fine in Quicktime Player I note.

  • Apple remote no longer works with mountain lion

The apple remote that was quite happily working with Lion no longer seems to be working with mountain lion.
I've checked with at least 3 other apple remotes I have and none of them seem to want to pair.
    I've been able to pair them with another mac running Lion, but when going to the pair option under;
    Preferences--> Security& Privacy --> General --> Advanced -> Pair
Pressing the menu and next for more than a minute gives me nothing on any of the remotes.
Anyone else having issues pairing with mountain lion?
*Note, each of the remotes quite happily will

I thought I had a problem pairing my aluminium Apple remote with EyeTV, but all turned out fine.
When I clicked Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> General --> Advanced --> Pair a message told to press the "Menu and Next" buttons until the remote paired with the computer. At first, I assumed this meant that I should press the two black buttons underneath the main, circular control, but nothing happened.
Then it struck me that the "Next" button might mean the right arrow on the main, circular control, so I held down this while holding the Menu button (the smaller button, below and to the left of the main, circular control), and the remote paired within a few seconds!
I don't have one of the older, white Apple remote controls to test this idea with, but something similar may also work with that remote.

  • Code snippets no longer visible, and looping no longer works.  This tool is becoming useless.

  • HT5622 How can I switch the Apple ID that iCloud uses, if my previous Apple ID no longer works?

One of my family members got a new iPhone and set it up with the same apple ID that the rest of my family uses. Now we can no longer use this apple ID. We have tried changing the password but the security questions will not accept the correct answers and the authorization email will not send. I can't delete the iCloud account on my phone because you need the old account's password to deactivate find my iphone.

Cancel my question, please. I found the answer: delete the account, enter the new Apple ID and save data to device and merge data, and create a new account.
