Apple Lossless hiccups/drop outs/pauses

Hi
Has anyone tried Apple Lossless files with the Shuffle 3G yet? Does it choke on them, i.e. hiccup/drop out/pause a few seconds into a song, like the Nano 3G did?
I'd like to know before buying, as this was a major irritation for me, and this is the first shuffle to supposedly support lossless.

Hi I'm wondering what you tried. I have a 3G Shuffle that "stutters" during playback for my Apple Lossless songs also.
I loaded them using sync "checked music" to select the playlist that would sync.
When I let iTunes drop the bit rate down to 128 AAC and sync the same selection of checked playlist there is no skipping. I have tried this on 2 different computer and using 2 different Shuffles. I get the same results consistently. The skips happen in the same songs every time. Lastly, it does not happen with every Apple Losses song.
The songs play back fine on the computers, my 1G Touch and my 120 GB Classic. I haven't tried this on any Nanos yet. But this feels specific to the Shuffle

TS2972 Home Sharing on Apple TV (2) drops out after about 2 minutes

Home Sharing on Apple TV (2) drops out after playing iTunes music and photos for about 3 minutes. iTunes says Home Sharing is on, but the only way to get it going again is to turn off Home Sharing and sign in again to Home Sharing when it will work for another 3 or 4 minutes maximum. Going to try a signal booster this all started with the TV upgrade. The only reason for the network booster is because iPhone 4 freezes in facebook once and a while. I am trying to solve this problem for my brother my system works with my airport and imac with no issues yet. All brand new.

I have an update - Apple sent a replacement unit after the tech verified that my Apple TV was acting abnormally. I got it the next day, plugged it in and haven't had any issues whatsoever. I seemed to have a defective unit.

I use homeplug powerline adapters to create my home Lan. I've never had any problem with my ATV 2.
This isn't ideal either, I would rather have shielded CAT7 cables reach all the way to my modem.
Either way, wired solutions are more reliable and have a higher potential speed as wireless uses pulsed electromagnetic radiation as a means for transportation in stead of copper or fiber optic cables

If you downloaded the movie you should not need internet. My internet is over 2MGB download and around 1MGB upload and it's working perfect. The problem is to watch any movie through the apple TV2. I tried connecting via Ethernet and nothing changed.

Apple Airport Express dropping out after song finishes.

I need some help finding out why my Airport Express sometimes drops out after a song has finished? Itunes has moved onto playing the next song but the sound is no longer playing through airtunes. If I pause and play the song it will come though the speakers again. This does not happen every time I use air turns but everynow and again.. Can anyone help me with this? I do have my Airport express set to get updates every week so Im sure I should have the latest updates.

Apple TV airplay dropping out

Seems I'm not the only one experiencing this most frustrating problem.
When using my iPad mini (or iPad 2) to airplay a video it keeps dropping out. We are tearing our hair out. This is only a relatively recent problem and I suspect it is related to the ios7 update.
I have seen many solutions proposed on these forums eg. restarting the iPads (tried that), replacing the HDMI cable, changing router settings, replacing the router, etc. I've been hoping Apple will release a software update to overcome this issue before I rush out and spend my hard earned $$ on accessories to make this piece of junk work like it should.
Has anyone found a reliable, cost-effective solution yet?

People do generally come here for help, so yes, there are others here having issues.
AirPlay issues are network issues, troubleshoot the network. Power cycling the ATV and router are good places to start.

Apple TV and Drop Outs, Connection Issues

I use AppleTV to mirror my ipad 2. it's great. Love it Then I'll try it again and it may work but often the icon disappears. I then clear the password then re-enter it and that will bring it back or if that doesn't work I may have to shut down my ipad 2 at least once.
This happens almost every second or third time I try to use it.
I currently have an iphone 4s, ipad2, ipod touch and as someone has said before, this is the first time I've been deeply disappointed in an Apple product. I expect glitches every now and then but this continual drop out and connection issues I have is beyond the joke.
Does anyone have any solutions. Yes I have done all the updates, yes I am on the same network, yes airplay is turned on, yes home sharing is enabled.
As you can see I am peeved!

I too am having the same problem. I have a MB Pro running OS X 10.9.4 cannot see AirPlay option. Any solutions out there? Tried AirParrot but it is spotty at best.

Why does my Apple TV keep dropping out of my Wi-Fi Network?

I've only had the device for about 3 weeks and I've already returned one hoping it was a hardware issue but the new one is doing the same thing. I enter my Wi-Fi password and it will keep in for about 48 hours. Then when I go back to it I find that somehow it's kicked off and I have to manually re-enter the password and start all over. Very annoying and if I can't figure it out I will just return the device and live without it. I can watch Netflix on my Wii after all.
Anybody with similar issues or been able to fix the problem?

Apple TV 3 dropping out..... very annoying

I have spoken to Apple support, they gave me the following link and said that these UDP and TCP port had to be open to allow apple tv to stream...

On windows 7 go to control panel, windows firewall and make new rules for the attached.
For someone completely uncomputer friendly it make me feel like a computer nerd.....

HT5622 Hi, For some reason my apple ID has dropped out. It is my email address but now it doesn't recognise it. I haven't used it for months as I haven't been able to access it. I have lots of music I purchased.

I cannot access my Itunes account as it rejects my I.D which is my email address. I just want to access my music and haven't bee able to for months. I have hundreds of dollars worth on there. Thanks Nicole

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Bluetooth mouse & keyboard driver drop out

Having trouble with mighty mouse and apple bluetooth keyboard dropping out periodicaly, when using windows XP. Track pad & keyboard on MacBook still work ok. Window pops up saying USB device not connected. When looking in bluetooth devices in control panel the bluetooth drivers, keyboard and mouse are missing. After short period everything comes back again. It will do this randomly and not at any specific times, even when the computer is not being used.

Can anyone help???

Finally it seems they fixed the wifi issue with safari.
Now it seems my apple bluetooth mouse drops out quite a lot.

And you've all of the updates for 10.8.2? Strange - I've never had Bluetooth problems or issues... I know that there was a problem, early on, with wifi and Bluetooth on the Retina machines but, as far as I know, that has all been 'fixed' with updates... haven't heard of that problem in a long, long time.
I don't know what else to tell you to try - you might want to make an appointment at your local Apple STore and see if they can come up with a fix...

My Apple TV drops out when my iMac isn't connected to wifi yet my TV is connected to wifi. Also having issues with losing settings on Home Sharing as well. How do I fix these issues?

Whether I'm watching a movie purchased via my Apple TV or a movie stored on my iTunes app on my iMac I'm having constant issues with Apple TV either cutting out (randomly - not related to wifi) or not being able to access the 'My Computer' files when my iMac drops out the wifi connection because its in power saving mode. I also have issues with 'Home Sharing' settings having to be reset and sometimes having to unplug the Apple TV power cord and plugging it back in to be able to successfully reset these settings so I can get back to watching whatever it was I was viewing on Apple TV. My TV is connected to wifi as well so I'm wondering if there are any changes I can make in the settings of both my Apple TV and iMac or TV so that I can just select whatever it is I want to watch and be able to watch the entire movie or episode without it dropping out or having to keep flicking the mouse on the iMac to keep the computer connected to wifi? I love Apple products generally but Apple TV is proving to be a pain in the a**e lately. Hopefully someone can help me sort these issues out

Intermittent issues will point to a local network/wifi issue.
Reboot ATV and router, make sure both are up to date
Try ethernet
The home sharing connection will cut out if the iMac goes to sleep.

Audio drop-out in FCPX with 1920x1080 & 2048x1240p @ 24p (codec Apple ProRes 4444 (Linear PCM))24p

I'm new to this forum.
Is there an audio issue (drop-outs) with FCPX (ver 10.1.2) for 1920x1080 24p, 1080p HD & 2048x1240 24p (2k) - note: films in FCPX are in codec Apple ProRes 4444, Linear PCM?
Very recently I've been working on a show reel and I have imported a file (short film) to snip out a section to add to the show reel.
I set the project to the film's settings i.e.. "set based on first video clip"...(1920x1080 24p, 1080p HD). When I play the film in FCPX the audio "hic-cups"..."dips to silence"..."drops-out" briefly (up to 0.5 secs in duration) and very frequently all the way through (approx 15 mins long film)...note: audio set is at stereo 48kHz. The audio monitors on the right hand side also show the dip taking place (if it's a long enough drop-out).
I also have a version of the film in 2048x1240 24p at 2k, again Stereo 48kHz...and this does the same audio "drop-out" all the way through. I'm unsure what other formats will create this problem i.e. higher or lower aspect ratios than those above.
Is this a software and/or OS issue? Or a hardware issue? Or both!?

Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

FCPX version: 10.1.2
Note also: I used Compressor (ver 4.1.2) to convert the files (movies) above to Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Linear PCM and the issue disappeared - the audio and visuals played with no problems. All films play with no issue when opened in QT player. They are also fine when exporting from FCPX. The issue only occurs (as far as I can tell) within FCPX when editing or playing the audio there.
Has anyone encountered this problem?

Seems like you have a point about the "hardware" issue. I'm unsure (new to it all) at what data rate my (er...wonderful) fusion drive provides FCPX for smooth playback - or where I can find that info on the iMac. Playing back movies in the 422 HQ codec seems to have no issues (when I converted the movie from 4444 HQ).
But playing the full 4444 HQ, the picture is smooth, but the audio has these drop-outs - even with "best performance" option ticked. Interesting that the audio suffers, not the picture in FCPX - so not sure what's going on there. I also read - perhaps - that to play a smooth ProRes 4444 HQ movie in FCPX the data rate should be min of 500 Mbs (based upon About Apple ProRes) for HD movies and up (i.e. 2k). ProRes 422 HQ needs a data rate of 220 Mbs - so that is my upper-limit to smooth video&audio playback with the current system I have, I guess.
Does anyone recommend a fast USB3 or Thunderbolt drive (500Mbs+) where I am able to run 4444HQ movies with no issues to picture or sound (away from the fusion drive)?
