Apple mac g3 issues was in other forum

I recently got an power mac g3. It was working ok with some problems but recently these problems increased. This seemed to have happens after I changed the cmos battery. I did fix the date and time issue with that but now my mac starts up very slowly oin all parts 75% of the time. Even on the apple and happy face. When it does come up quick I randomly does a 100% lockup with no way out. So I have decided I want to diagose it. Is there any site that can give me the old disagnostic cd that came with all macs. Like the little tech tool one or the specail motherboard one? Or a special osx cd? Any ideas of what the issue could be? HD maybe?

If you recently acquired this G3, it may have had extensive hours of usage since it was manufactured in 1999. Hard drives can develop problems, related to the capability of the read/write heads to access data on the platter(s). If it has the original (very small) 6 GB hard drive, it may almost be filled to capacity, and that can cause problems running OS X. What version of the Mac OS is installed on the hard drive? How much memory is installed in it? Are the DIMMs either PC100 or PC133 SDRAM - and not PC66? Did you thoroughly blow out the interior, to remove any accumulated dust? You may also need to remove the large cooling fan to completely clean the blades. Do you know whether it has the revision 2 motherboard, or does it have the original version? In the bottom of the chassis, if there's a single piece of metal that runs front-to-rear (on which the hard drive is mounted), you probably have a revision 1 motherboard. If there is a rear hard drive carrier with the dual drive/stack mount design for two drives, one above the other, your G3 probably has a revision 2 motherboard. You should check out the "Accelerate Your Mac" web site, because there is a section dedicated to the B&W G3s and upgrades.

I have a problem with the headset of my ipod nano 4th gen. the right side don't have a sound. It comes in and out.  what do I need to do.. I am using the original headset eversince. I tool it to a Apple Mac Cennter and Taked with a Service Center Rep. And he told me that they can't do anything because they don't repair the ipod they didn;t even look at it. I was told instead to buy a new one. I was very disappointed.. This is already my 5th ipod though i am planning to buy a new one.. I still want it fixed so I can give it to my little sister

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • Apple Mac Email issues since going onto Infinity

Any Body help or know of a solution where on My Apple Mac since going onto Infinity I can not send Email's through Hotmail, on my Mail App on the Computer.
    Thanks

When you moved to infinty did you move to a hub 3/4 after previously using a different router?  If so, the issue lies with the way the Mac presents it's name to the router.
There is a relatively simple fix for this.  Initially, to get confirmation of if this is the issue, go to your apple menu> system preferences>network, then select your connection to the hub (airport, ethernet etc), then go to advanced in the bottom right corner, and then select DNS.  At the bottom of the dns page will be the +/- buttons.  Hit plus and then enter 8.8.8.8, google dns.  Go back to system preferences this should save the changes, then go back to advanced>TCP/IP and hit refresh dhcp lease.
Close then re-open mail and try and send an email.  This should go out.  If it does, then it is the issue I believe it to be.
To resolve the issue we just need to change the name of the Mac to remove invalid characters.
Go to spotlight on the bar at the top and access terminal.  Once in Terminal type:
scutil --set HostName DavesMac  (name is example only, but make note of it, we need it in a moment)
Close terminal, then go back to apple menu>system preferences>sharing.  At the top of the page is an option to change the name of the Mac, so hit edit.  On the following page there will be a filed where you can enter DavesMac, enter that and hit done.  That will finish changing the name.
Go back to system preferences>network and select your connection again.  At the top of the page it shows location.  Select that and hit the + bottom at the bottom and add a new location (home for example).  Then select that location.  Then go back to advacned>tcp/ip and hit refresh dhcp lease once more.
Close Mac Mail, re-open and try and send, should work fine.

  • MAC address issue----Spearman

Saw your comments on this in the post about the 1.9 bios for neo2platty ....
I can confirm that My MAC address issue was caused by the bios that you sited in your comments....all F's were written to My nvidia lan too...
only solution from what I have read is too rma it...'bummer'
just thought You would like to know....  Your not alone

I had the same problem yesterday and after many hours searching the web I ended up with this post that made me really desperate... But I didn't give up and while trying a new bios flash because of random crashes when in the bios, I noticed the obvious: you can change the MAC address when flashing
use the last version of the dos flasher with the parameters /nvmac:xxxxxxxxxxxx/wb after the name of the bios file; it's explained if you ask the help with the /help parameter. You can find the mac address on a stick on the parallel port.

  • How can I find my missing apple Mac

My apple Mac book pro was stolen from my house with lots of other items but I noticed on my Facebook account someone is logging into it. How can I find my computer?

They disabled the find my Mac. But I thought there was a way to find it by the ip address/serial number on the computer?
Yes as you said you saw proof of them logging in using FaceBook etc, if you give this information to the police they may be able to use it to do just what you said here
Best to let them do it, could cause trouble if you try doing it yourself

    Hi rmmilleriii,
You should take a look at [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/latest-firefox-issues#os=mac&browser=fx9 this article] that discusses some of the issues with the latest build of Firefox.
There is some information in there that should help you to resolve your issue. Luckily, it is a very easy fix.
    Hopefully this helps!

Unfortunately yesterday my mac-book pro was stolen. Other than obtaining a police report is there any advice, i.e. can Apple remotely disable it?

I'm very sorry to hear about this theft. I don't think there's anything you or Apple can do unless you took advance preparations.
Read the article "Employee Thoughts: Protecting Your Machine in Case of Theft" in this newsletter for the sorts of things one can do in advance of a theft:

Unfortunately, there's little you can do at this point other than start changing all your passwords and hoping the police get lucky.

This is the iTunes for Windows forum...
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new windows installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup! (Windows tip). For a Mac use Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner.

I cannot shut dow my MacBook Pro using the apple icon (as it was suppose to be), actually I have to press and hold the on/off buttom. I have taken twice for Mac dealer and they did not solve the problem. What must I do? I would to remark that I have installed 2 antivirus and uninstalled one of them. Since then I have facing this troublesome issue. Thanks

Uninstall the other AV software. They are not needed. All they do is cause trouble like you are having now.
If you have been forcing the Mac to shut down with the power switch you may nave corrupted your disk. You should repair it with disk Utilty to remove any corruption the shutdwons may have cased.

Obviously since you have iOS 7 you're a developer.  As a developer, you signed a NDA with Apple not to discuss the iOS on a public forum.  Please log in to the Developer Forum using your credentials and ask for help there, lest you risk having your credentials terminated.
Thanks, and best of luck to you.

Hi , and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
And sorry to report that OSX is more Widows like than ever, but….
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

  • I have a Apple Mac desktop and recently was unable to access any YouTube, movies, videos, etc because a "Blocked Plug-in" message comes up with no error message. It asks to upload Abode Reader, but upon completion of this the message is the same.

I have a Apple Mac desktop and recently can no longer access Youtube, videos, movies, etc because I get a message reading "Blocked Plug-in". There's no error message but it does say to upload Abode Flash Player and the problem will be solved. I do this but it doesn't fix the problem. What am I doing wrong?

if you already downloaded the adobe flash player onto your mac and still getting that message that means you need to finish the installation of the flash player
you do this by opening a finder window and going to your downloads, find the flash player in here and then double click on it and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
after this is completed you will need to completely quit out of the web browser you're using then reopen it for the change to take affect and your issue should be resolved. if it's not you need to contact adobe their number is 800 642-3623.
