Apple Mac Studio Display 23" cinema with plastic surround

Does anyone have any idea what this monitor might be worth nowadays.

I'm not sure exactly which ATI Rage 128 video card you have. If your video card has only a VGA output, and your display is the clear acrylic ADC version, you'll probably have to replace the video card with one with DVI digital output. As far as I know, there aren't any VGA-to-DVI or VGA-to-ADC adapters. Alternately, there are lots of LCD monitors for PCs that have VGA 15-pin inputs, and that would be the easy way to go.
If there are 2 outputs on the card, a VGA 15-pin and a DVI-D connector (that's what's on my AGP graphics G4, and it looks sort of like a SCSI port with a flat pin at one end), and you have one of the clear 15" ADC Studio Displays, you need to get one of Apple's DVI-to-ADC adapters, $99.95 at the Apple store. It will plug into the DVI output and supply power for the display.
There are early model Apple 15" Studio Displays, a Blue & White version which has a VGA input which will work with your card, and a Graphite version which I think has a DVI connector.

  • Can a Apple Studio Display be used with a none Mac PC under Windows

Hello, can a 21 Inch Apple Mac Studio Display Monitor (Graphite) be used with a none Mac PC under Windows. Thanks Peter

    what's a "none" Mac PC?
It can be done, but you'll need to purchase an ADC-DVI adapter in order to connect to the DVI port on the PCs video card.

  • New Mac Mini / DVI / Apple 17" Studio Display

    Greetings all.
I am contemplating purchasing new Mac Mini.
Currently using Mac mini / DVI adapter/ older Apple 17" studio display.
I do not intend monitor change at present.
Question is, which display adapter would allow me to use older DVI adapter/Apple 17" studio display?
Thanks for you time, looking forward to your response.

  • Apple 21" studio Display monitor-help

I have a G4 and just got an apple 21" studio display monitor
I work in photoshop CS2 what do I put the resolution at? Color and refresh?
what should the white point and gamman be? what should the profile on themonitor display?
I WENT INTO THE PREFERENCES AND LOOKED AT THE DISPLAY..THANKS..JAN

(for my photos the service I use said to use sRGB the resolution)....
Then open CS2 and under Photoshop scroll down to Color Settings, go to Work Space and set the RGB tab to sRGB. At the top of the menu under Monitor it should be your Apple 21" Display.
If it is not then it will change after you calibrate the monitor. Open System Preferences/Desktop and change your desktop to a medium gray (you can change it back after you make the necessary color corrections). Now choose Display, select your preferred screen resolution, and millions of color. Now choose Color from the upper tab to Calibrate the monitor. If you check the box "Show profile for this display only" the menu will be simplified. Now select Calibrate and use the professional mode. Just follow the on screen instructions and do all of the color setting using the 1.8 gamma and native whiter point.
After the monitor is calibrated you will be asked to save and name the calibration. I would recommend a name similar but different from the default Apple 21" Display setting, you can even include the date if you calibrate often.
Reopen Photoshop and check the Work Space the RGB/Monitor the setting should be your recent selected calibration.

  • Dual ADC Apple Studio Displays (clear acrylic) with Mac Mini

I currently have the old school Apple Studio Display ADC monitor hooked up to my Mac Mini using the ADC to DVI adapter. I have a second Studio ADC Display and another ADC to DVI adapter to run Dual Displays. I just bought a SEE 2 XTREME DVI to USB which is used for adding multiple monitors. I have it all hooked up. Its just basic plug and play after installing the Mac driver. My second monitor power light just flashes and wont turn on...Any suggestions? I already made sure both monitors and both ADC to DVI adapters worked, and they do. Please Help!! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

yea, I checked that out about the light flashes. I have tried both monitors seperately and they both work fine...just not with this DVI to USB dual monitor adapter. Also, when I had them hooked up individually, I made sure the resolution was set the same in the system preferences > displays.

  • Studio Display - Family M2454 with NVIDIA GeForce2 MX

I've recently acquired an older Studio Display LCD (M2454) and would like to use it with my G4 867-MHz PowerPC G4 (Quicksilver). However, while the Mac works great with my analog CRT Studio Display, whenever I plug in the LCD display, the Mac will not start up. Starts up fine whenever the LCD ADC connector is not connected to the video card (whether the CRT display is connected or not.)
Any hints for troubleshooting this situation? Is the digital side of the NVIDIA GeForce2 MX dead? or is the LCD dead? or neither and something else needs attention? I've run the 2004 NVIDIA Firmware Update 1.1 successfully.
Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4)   have several other Macs

I have the same problem. I had the CPU and the display packed in suitcases and when I got home the computer won't start up with the display plugged in. It will start up normally with no display--or I assume so since I can't see anything--and I can also use it as a FireWire target drive using my G3 PowerBook. This is very frustrating.

  • Apple, Mac Pro, Amd vs Nvidia with cuda? Why, and what to buy for Premiere Pro?

Mac Pro has dual Amd video cards installed, and does not offer Nvidia cards with Cuda in this line up, as far as I can tell. The iMacs offer nvidia cards which seem a better choice for Premiere Pro which uses the cuda rendering capabilities. Which would be best for Premiere Pro? The quad Mac Pro, or the top of the line iMac with double the ram, say 32gigs vs 16 in the Mac Pro?  Why did Apple put AMD cards in the Mac Pro line?

Apple believes that OpenCL, not CUDA, is the future of GPGPU computing.  CUDA is closed and proprietary to nVidia only.  OpenCL is, as the name says: open.
As of the creation and planning of the Mac Pro, nVidia's GPUs were (and most of them still are) very poor performers when it comes to OpenCL.  I expect that, over time, nVidia will catch up to AMD regarding OpenCL.  But they're not quite there yet, across the board.
Why are the GPUs in the iMac (and Macbook Pro) nVidia?  They make better and more efficient mobile GPUs at this point in time.  The GPU in the iMac is similar to the GPU in the Macbook Pro in that they're both mobile, not desktop GPUs.  AMD has a fairly poor representation in that market (so far), so Apple stuck with nVidia.
It's likely that Apple doesn't see the iMac and Macbook Pro lineup as devices to be used for massive GPGPU processing.  The Mac Pro, on the other hand is where they see that being used heavily.  Perhaps when and if AMD decides to produce an efficient and powerful mobile GPU, Apple will cut (back) over to them.  But one can only guess, there.

Hi and welcome to Discussions! Is that Devon UK you're from.
    <=== Hi from Paignton!
    (Is there a Devon US?)
Anyway, Macs & viruses is an ongoing debate. Many, including me, subscibe to <a href="http://www.macfixitforums.com/php/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum8&Number=7 13778&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1">This opinion and run no AV. The way I look at it is, all that HD activity for...what?
Others, including Dr Smoke have a different view. Many who subscribe to his view nonetheless shun anything Norton and use ClamXAV or others instead.
The decision has got to be yours in the end, do the research, read what you can from the Google pages and jump...or don't
Have fun with your Mac whatever your decision.

  • How to get old apple CRT studio display to stock settings?

The adjustments of my screen have been messed with and I keep trying to mess with it, but I can't seem to get it right. Is there a way to put the screen adjustment settings back to stock?

You shouldn't need any software. Any software that came with the display would have been for OS 9, anyway. They stopped selling the display before OSX came out, but OSX should be able to use it with its built-in drivers. Do you hear the startup sound from the display's power supply? Can you see the glow of the CRT filament?

  • Does studio display CRT work with any new machine at all??

My old G4 just died. I got a mini but can't figure out how to connect it to this 17" CRT. Is there any new machine compatible with this old CRT? Do I have to find another G4 to work with it or do I have to dump it?
    Please help

Thanks hsurfer. The link you have provided gives a helpful insight. Those with the macbook pro are able to switch from their 9400 graphics card to the better 9600 graphics card, which resolves the issue, at least with the samsung monitor. We who have the macbook however do not have the option. The problem does seem to clearly emanate from the macbook graphic card, lets hope that a fix is still around the corner, the latest firmware update clearly did not resolve it.
Im still looking for success stories, anyone who can say that their specific external 22'/24' monitor works fine with the new macbook?
    kind regards
    allan

  • ?? 20" Apple display to go with 20" C2D iMac ??

I'm in the market for a 20" display to go with my 20" C2D iMac (the non-AL version).
I'd also prefer the non-AL display. Are the older 20" "acrylic" displays a good compliment to the newer iMacs?
Will I need the DVI to ADC setup?
Where's a good source to find one? ebay?
Should I just get the newer AL Cinema display?
    Thanks

    $3000
Probably less than I paid for my 23in Cinema Display which still works perfectly.
I can understand those that ridicule your complaint, but you have 3 very simple options open to you, all have been mentioned:
1.Sell the large ADC monitor, maybe get $300-$400 for it, buy a cheap "22in" DVI monitor from a no-name brand. It'll be brighter, faster, lighter, higher resolution and smaller (22in monitors like this - I looked at one yesterday - are about the same physical screen size as an Apple 17" Studio Display.
    2. Sell the video card and buy a DVI-ADC card for your G5, like most of us with G5's already have. A little bit of research will get you sorted.
    3. Buy the adapter, I have one too, to run a Cinema Display of my Mac Pro.

  • Using 2 15" ADC studio displays with G5?? How??

I have just recently purchased a second 15" studio display to use with my G5 powermac. One display is currently connected to the adc port on the back of the G5. How can I connect the second display? I have seen some adapters you can buy which convert the adc connector to DVI I'm then assuming I can then connect the adapter to my G5's DVI port? Is this possible or do I need something else?

    Hi
you just need a DVI to ADC adapter to connect your ADC Studio Display to the DVI connector on your graphics card. As far as I'm aware there are only two types available, Apple's own and Dr. Bott's DVIator. Both tend to be fairly expensive as they come with a power supply to drive the display. In answer to your other post, the power brick is fairly heavy so by buying it from another country I expect the postage costs may outweigh any savings made.
    I hope this helps.
