Apple MacBook Pro - Damaged screen

Is there any email address to ask for any support to Apple staff???
I sent the enclosed email to 3 different email addresses [email protected], but I got only automatic answers to them.

We received the ordered laptop (Serial Number W860806KVJ3) on the 21st February 2006 with Windows Office 2004 Software.
Unfortunately after only few days I hit the screen of MacBook Pro with the iPod after its synchronization and a crack appeared on it.
So we brought the MacBook Pro for the repair of screen to the nearest Apple Center in Rome and after two weeks we received the proposal for repair.
The cost for replacement of screen is Euro 900 (+VAT)!!! Therefore we decided to abandon the laptop and do not buy Apple anymore.
We have only a professional use of laptops, then the fragility of parts like screen and the exaggerate cost of maintenance is a limit in making use of Apple computers.
We would be very glad in receiving your comments about our experience

That must have been some wack to the screen! face the music bud you messed it up now pay for it. It's like buying a Mercedes and crashing it and blaming them because of repair costs.

Apple service centre employee told me that they do not have this 14 day offer in India.
And My mac book pro is taken in by Service centre people to run test etc and I will be informed the next day if they accept it as a fault or not ?

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME log message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now clear the search box to reveal all messages. Select the ones logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

If your USB port is working now, you didn't damage it and have nothing to worry about.
The behavior you saw in your bus-powered Fujitsu drive is normal for a drive that needs more power than the USB port can provide.
If your USB ports ever do shut down, resetting the SMC may bring them back online again quickly and easily.

My MacBook Pro's screen just started randomly going blank, sometimes white sometimes black, and I won't be able to do anything no matter what key I press unless I restart it via the power button and even then I have a few minutes before it happens again

When i do that I normally have just a few minutes before it happens again. Bought this back in december just started happening a few days ago. Only thing out of the ordinary I've done is install that microsoft silverlight or whatever it is netflix asked me to install to watch the videos but I uninstalled that quickly hoping it would fix my problem but it hasn't so please help me out if you know what to do

Sounds as if you're having a problem with your GPU (graphics card). Only Apple can diagnose and fix this, so the best thing would be to take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP.

I brought mine into the Apple Store last night. I had not left it for service last time as I had not cleared it of some confidential client data. This time, I encountered a much more knowledgeable Genius who seemed to have heard of the Nvidia problem.
So, my MBPro is on its way to the depot. It will apparently be $310 total, flat fee, supposedly ready within a week.
I do expect Apple will do the right thing eventually and extend warranties for the defective Nvidia subsystem. However, I can't wait until they do. I need my Macbook Pro to be functional.
Again, my strong advice...
*At the first hint you are getting this problem, turn on screen sharing.*
If you have this specific Nvidia problem, you will still be able to access the machine remotely, which can be incredibly valuable in terms of saving data before you send it for repair. When you hand it over, you will initial a statement saying you have backed up your data and Apple is not responsible if the machine is wiped during repairs. Set up screen sharing so you can operate the machine during the Nvidia failure.

So does it include in the replacement program of the logic board with free of charge ?
Will apple help me do the replacement if I'm able to charge that fee even my warrany voided ?

It really doesn't make a bit of difference whether someone else had an experience similar to yours. It's still up to AppleCare to deal with it.
But you can certainly waste your time here for whatever you think you'll find. Good luck.

You recently updated iTunes to v.11.4? This message has popped up on many a Mac screen when this version was first made available, because this kext was obviously faulty.
You should try to download iTunes 11.4 again from Apple's website: the new version bears the same name, but this kernel extension has been updated, and the issues it was causing are now a thing of the past.
Should solve your problem, too...

Generally any Mac made since 2009 can handle FCP X.
Your small screen is not ideal unless you are young and have good vision.
However, you needn't ask whether or not your computer is suitable as you can find out yourself by downloading the free 30 day trial.

Hey guys. I'm going to buy a macboock pro for the first time and I have 1500/1600€ to spend. I will need to use programs such as illustrator, photoshop, after effects, premier or final cut pro and 3d programs like blender (3d modelling and animation). I don't know wich of this two macs to pick (the price is the same for both, at least here in Portugal), so help me here.

If nor money, nor space are a constraint, I would go for the Retina model with the i7 processor and the largest available SSD. And 16Gb of RAM, of course...
I would never consider a computer with an i5 processor and just 256 GB of storage!
And the Retina machines cannot be upgraded later, so better to order it at full specs...
So, as the package is now fixed (Retina, i7, 16 GB RAM, 1Tb SSD), the only choice now is between a 13" or 15" model.
If, as you said, space is not a problem, then go for the 15".... If you prefer the 13" screen, you will get the most powerful 13-inch machine available...
In both cases you wll get the maximum currently possible.... That is the only sensible choice when money is not a constraint...

Many thanks for your speedy response. First of all, I must point out that I'm a Brit and a technophobe. This may explain my possibly foolish questions and answers. I don't need a voltage converter but do need some kind of surge protector. I've lived in India so have experienced first hand the devastating impact of fluctuating electricity. I said I needed a line conditioner because according to the recommended guide book: "The electricity supply in Albania is theoretically 220 volts AC. In practice it is often very much lower. Laptop batteries are usually resilient enough to cope with power spikes, but if you are travelling with sensitive equipment which could be damaged by voltage surges or brownouts, you should obtain a line conditioner......." I checked on google and two recommended ones were APC Surgearrest 3020J and Tripp-Lite SK 12OUSB. I don't remember seeing Targus, Belkin or Kensington mentioned. What I'm really looking for is a good efficient one which is small enough to carry with me on any trip to a country with a dicy electricity supply. The price is less important. As you rightly said, it's important not to cut corners with electricity. My main concern is protecting my UK bought Mac. I'd be really grateful for your advice. I don't have a clue what to buy. Hi there, my mom's late 2006 MacBook Pro's screen has turned all pixelated. Not sure if there's a way to fix this or if I should just take it in to the Genius Bar. Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The 2006 MBP has an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card which did not have the problems that the June 2007 and later model MBPs with the Nvidia 8600M GT had. You could try running an Apple Hardware test to maybe pinpoint the problem.

Macbook Pro's screen flickering pink lines?

My mid-2009 Macbook Pro's screen has recently started flickering pink lines in fields that are otherwise normally white (browser windows, text fields, etc). It happened spontaenously one day last week. The machine was never dropped or anything. At first, I thought smc reset and pram reset fixed it, but the problem has returned.
One small quirk: pressing down on the machine roughly in between where the two fans are temporarily fixes the issue, until I release it. Seating it on top of an object that applies pressure there also allows the screen to function normally.

Take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test it...could be something as simple as a loose connector, or something more serious like a problem with the graphics module or the logic board.
