Apple MacBook Pro laptop - HIGH RES, widescreen... MAC OSX 10.5.2

My computer:
An Apple MacBook Prop 17" widescreen High Res laptop 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
My problem:
As a professional graphic designer I am finding it impossible to design web pages on my high resolution MBP screen. The high resolution settings make web pages look absolutely tiny on the screen (lovely and sharp... but so tiny). My high res MacBook Pro came set at 1920x1200 display resolution. SImply changing the display resolution does NOT do the trick! It just magnifies the pixels. Indeed, Apple suggested I alter the display resolution to see web pages ina standard size however,... as I said before, this just blows-up the web pages and OVER-PIXELATES the image. So I'm now thinking that perhaps a second monitor (just for my web projects) may provide a temporary solution.
My QUESTION:
Exactly what other models of separate Apple Mac monitors can I buy (maybe second-hand) that will be compatible with my MBP but still allow me to see things, on that second screen, in a normal size and a standard screen resolution? I presume that an HD Apple home cinema display will still be super high resolution... so would an older model LCD or G5 monitor give me a solution or will I face compatibility issues?
Please help! Thanks.

Doesn't have to be an Apple display. Pick up any smaller LCD panel of the size (and resolution) you desire. Your MBP has a DVI output, so it would be easiest to get a display with DVI input, but you can also pick up Apple's DVI-to-VGA adapter and connect to a VGA display as well.
You can also get a bigger display, one large enough that even at 1920x1200 the pixels would be sufficiently large. A large 1080p television, for example.

  • Is my apple MacBook Pro laptop compatible with the new Creative Suite 6 program??

I own a Apple MacBook Pro laptop i currently have the operating system Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
my laptop is 13 inch laptop not a 15 inch.
Here is the following info about my apple computer below:
Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 384 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
I want to make sure that the new Creative Suite 6 program is compatiable with my apple
computer before i buy it. my mother last year had brought me the creative suite 5 program
for my Dell Desktop computer however, this computer later on crashed and now i am stuck with
the CS5 program my mother brought because, this version of this program she brought is
only for a desktop computer that has a windows operating system not for a apple
computer that has a mac operating system. At the time my mother nor i knew if, i
would be getting a new apple computer plus, i needed the program for school so that i
could work on homework assignments at home. Now i am currently stuck with the
windows version of the CS5 program which i cannot use at all. I tried to install it onto
my apple laptop many times before but, i only ended up getting a error message saying
that the software I had wouldn't install to the computer for some reason unexplained.

  • I have an Acer external hard drive 500GB.  Is it compatible with Apple MacBook Pro laptop?

I have an Acer external hard drive 500GB.  Is it compatible with Apple MacBook Pro laptop?

There are only a handful or Hard Drive mechanism manufacturers left. Acer is not one of them, although they may make the enclosure (but probably not that either). So in essence you have a Brand-X enclosure with some sort of Hard Drive inside.
Most of those work fine once they are re-Initialized for use on the Mac. For me, I prefer to use the Re-purposing of a drive as an opportunity to re-write every block with Zeroes (which can take several hours but can be done in the background), assuring that every block is good.

  • Macbook Pro 15" high-res 1440 x 900 setting using SwitchResX

    Hi,
I have Macbook Pro wiht15" high-res display. But I seems I can set the 1440x900 resolution by default option. There is only 1440x852... thouth I can't understand it.
Anyway, someone seems to enable 1440 x 900 resolution with SwitchResX. I also tried to do it. But I can't make it because I have no information the timing parameter. So Is there someone have the information for 1440x900 resolution?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Does a usb cab to 60 Watt L-Tip Power Adapter charger for Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Charger exist

    does a usb cable
does a Usb cable to60 Watt L-Tip Power Adapter charger for Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Charger exist? i have an external battery pack i would like to use to charge my iphone and macbook pro.

Not that I am aware of.  An Internet search on your part will be required.  If you should find something to that effect, note it will not be endorsed by Apple and the magnetic connector will probably be in violation of Apple patents.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook pro will not boot into Mac OSX

When i got my MacBook Pro it would boot into Mac OSX fine. Now it wont even give me the option and will only let me boot into Windows which i have running through bootcamp. I have tried reinstalling MacOSX but my OSX installion DVD will not get recognised and i cannot boot off it either. I have tried using 2 other discs still with the same issue. The confusing thing is that the CD/DVD drive works fine and the MacOSx discs work fine in other macs as i have tried it in my brothers machine.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

I don't think that the laptop even has Mac installed anymore becuase in an attempt to reinstall Mac the partition was formatted. And I can't boot of the disc becuase it just ejects by itself after a few seconds in the drive.

  • MAC address change under MacBook Pro MB133PL/A (Penryn) with Mac OSX 10.5.2

    Hi,
Do you know how to change MAC address of ethernet LAN card (not Wi-Fi) under MacBook Pro MB133PL/A (Penryn) with Mac OSX 10.5.2 (Leopard) ?
    Thanks,

    I use the terminal.
sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr /enter valid mac address here without the slashes/
    press return
    enter superuser password
    press return
This will change the regular wired ethernet port on you MBP. To change the wireless MAC you should replace the en0 with an en1 but if you have a Airport v1.0 card then it will not work. It might work if you have a v2.0 but people seem to have off an on success with that. Also you can attempt putting ether in place of lladdr if you still have issues that need troubleshooting.
I know there are some legit reasons to change the MAC address and many non-legit ones but lets just say for instance a friend of yours has a network or wireless and they forgot their password to control the settings on that network. Long ago when they made the network they limited access to it by binding it to certain MAC addresses namely theirs. Now they have given you permission to use the network but you can't because your computer does not have their mac address. They cannot make the network give you permission because they forgot their password so they give you thier MAC address and let you trick their network into thinking your computer is actually your friend's and then you are able to surf the internet. They won't just let you use their computer cause they need to write an essay offline for a few hours. This does not violate any terms of service, you got permission and unless there are some other extenuating circumstances this is a legit move. I assume this is the exact reason you want this information.

  • If I wanted to play computer games on a computer, Which one would be better Apple Macbook pro laptop on steam or windows computer with windows 7

    gaming

    Maybe I should've said
    Quack... Quack Quack!!
    (not afflacx -- seeing avatar)
The game minimum specifications are just a start when considering a computer that can run games, then you add more for what the computer's OS needs to run, plus any other things you may hope it could do during the time you were gaming; such as check email, be online with some other application, edit a movie, and other tasks away from gaming.
The MacBook Pro series has several superior characteristics that my semi-comatose iBook G4 and dizzy first-edition MacBook coreduo 1.83GHz could only dream about.
When you look into the online store, the sales page for each has add-ons that are possible and some are built-to-order upgrades. Since all the MB/Pros have Retina displays, except the basic model which has the only internal optical drive offered. Unless you also look into the Apple Special Deals refurbished online store to check for current inventory, that's about it. If you get a model where you can add the upgrade RAM yourself, that is one thing; but more of them now are installed before you get it and have few user-upgrade paths in hardware. Consider this hardware can run Windows, unix, OS X, etc. More RAM and more storage (SSD, Fusion, HDD) capacity is good.

    http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/macbook-pro
Some great stuff. But watch for the specificiations because the 'minimum for a game' is not the minimum necessary for a great experience. And the options for a fast SSD or Apple Fusion drive should be looked into, those kinds of options are not added to an existing offer in the refurbished store sales page. However they do have a good complementary support/service plan which is upgradable to the full AppleCare optional plan just as regular store models are.
Not sure if your question was answered by me.
But that green checkmark looks funny. I bet
that duck had something to do with it...!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I use airplay with Macbook Pro 9,2 Mid 2012/ Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5

What do I need to do to play Airplay on Apple TV from my computer.  The option is not in my display setting, so, obviously, I do not have the capability.  Do i need to upgrade my software?

    You can't.
    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

  • I have a 2011 Macbook pro that I updated with Mac OSX lion and now my computer keeps freezing when I am on safari or Microsoft word.  Can anyone help me please? I need this computer for school.

I wake the computer from sleep and then it freezes either within 5 minutes or it could take an hour.

Try to repair disc permissions. Also see if MSOffice is compatible with Lion.

  • My login password is now not being recognized on MacBook Pro which is running on Mac OSx version 10.6.8?

I Was able to log-in just fine a few days ago. It recognizes the password but just goes back to the login page.

Boot to the 10.6 Installer/Utilities DVD. Do not Install. Wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn. Choose Disk Utility off a Menu.
Since you are not booted from the Hard drive, you can do a Disk Utility ( Repair Disk).
    Then try again.

I am switching to Apple macbook pro from Windows laptop.  Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?  How can I transport from Windows to Mac?  What I have saved on external hardrives, will I be able to open it on Mac?

Office for Mac, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products, can open/edit/create Office documents. If your external drive is formatted NTFS then you can copy the Office documents to your computer and work on them. You won't be able to save the files back to your NTFS formatted drive. But you will be able to save the documents to your internal drive. You can move all the external files to your internal drive then format the external drive for Apple. Then you can copy the files back to your external drive for ongoing use.

Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?
Any computer is compatible as long as it can read and write Office files. But for perfect (or at least near perfect) compatibility, you would want to purchase Office 2011 for Mac.
How can I transport from Windows to Mac?
You can't directly transport any installation of Windows. All PC's come with a machine specific version of Windows intended for that PC. They don't have all of the hardware drivers the retail disks cover.
If you want Windows on your Mac, you would first purchase a full version copy (NOT an upgrade disk) of Windows 7 or 8. Those are the only supported versions on newer Macs. You install it through the supplied Boot Camp utility that comes with the Mac to create a new partition for Windows, and then install the retail copy of Windows you purchased.
The reason only these versions of Windows are supported is the same basic reason as a machine specific version of Windows for a PC. Apple only includes the necessary Mac hardware drivers for Win 7 or 8 on new Macs.
Once Windows is installed, you could then install the version of Office for Windows you already own. The nuisance of a Boot Camp partition is that you have to physically boot to either Windows or OS X, so you can only use the apps of the OS you're in at the time. To use both at once, you'd have to use virtual machine software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox) and then install Windows within that. Then you'd be able to run Windows inside of OS X and have access to both at the same time.

  • Change MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display in MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display

I bought a 15-inch MacBook a month ago, I would change the MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display in MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display... is possible? and how much will it cost?

Thanks! but there is a problem, I'm Italian and I live near Milan, and certainly I find it hard to send my mac. An Apple Store will not do this type of intervention?
