Apple Mail 4.2 - "save as draft" button

I upgraded recently to Leopard with Mail 4.2.
The "save as draft" button does not appear, neither on the toolbar nor in the toolbar palette...
Anyone could help solving that? I often use that button!
Thanks in advance.
JMB

It only appears on my toolbar after I've selected/created a 'New Message'. (I'm still on Mail 3.6, by the way.)

  • Apple Mail puts a email in "DRAFTS" after I send it?

Whenever I send a email thru Apple Mail using my Gmail account, it will put the email in the DRAFTS folder. How do I keep this from happening?
I have 3 email accounts that I use in Apple Mail and the Gmail one is the only one that does this.

Well if you have no draft mailbox list in the Mailbox folder, then it's obvious that it's not creating one for that account or any other, meaning it's putting the drafts in the IMAP draft folder. You may have some corruption within the Mail folder or preferences.
    Try this out:
Select the draft folder under that gmail account in the sidebar, then go to Mailboxes in the menu and select Use This Mailbox for: drafts. That should move the draft folder from the gmail folder to Mail's main draft mailbox.
Open Mail's preferences and check to see that the box to store messages on the server is checked.
Create and save a test draft message. Verify that it's also saved at the gmail website (should also appear in the draft folder under gmail account at sidebar bottem). Once that's done, go back into Mail's preferences and uncheck to store drafts on the server. That should move the draft mailbox back under the gmail folder. Save the changes.
Quit and restart Mail and verify Mail's preferences remain unchecked for storing drafts on the server.
Create a new message and save as draft. Verify that it is not saved to the gmail draft folder in the sidebar bottem or gmail website.
If all's OK from there, delete the test drafts you created. Once again highlight the Inbox and quit Mail. Restart Mail and the draft folder should not appear in the sidebar. It will still appear on the toolbar if you have it showing (to show, select Show Toolbar in Mail's menu under View).
Create a test message and send. See if that works. Hopefully, it will fix whatever preference files is stuck.

  • Apple mail can't save preferences

Using Apple Mail on my Macbook Pro running Lion 10.8.2. Also have Mail running on iPhone 4S and iPad 2. If I make any changes (Smart Folders, Signature file, etc.) and shut down the program, none of the changes are saved upon launching the program. I have several Mail accounts, all IMAP variety. I have repaired my disk and preferences using disk repair and Onyx. I have not made any changes to the iPhone or iPad applications.

Apple Support helped me solve this.
    System Preferences>iCloud
Deselected "Documents & Data" and the ability to save new Smart Mailboxes has been restored.
Engineering is going to get this report and let me know what the next steps are. I was not using that iCloud feature to sync documents so deselection was not a problem.
    Thanks, Apple Support.

  • Apple Mail won't save "Use Autodiscover service" with Exchange

Apple Mail is discovering the wrong servers when connecting to Exchange. I want to set it manually so I uncheck "Use Autodiscover service" and put in the correct servers. But when I quit and restart Mail, it automatically rechecks "Use Autodiscover service" and automatically picks up the wrong servers again. Can some one suggest why it won't save my setting and how to make the unchecked setting stay unchecked?

Well first, I'd recommend your IT folks configure Autodiscover to return the correct results ;-)

  • New to using workspace - Save as Draft button

    Background work:
    1.  I have a separate process that generates a pdf document to be used by a team member.  These files is saved to a network drive.  It takes to long to generate the document dynamically.
    2.  Within workspace, I have a start process card that displays a form to enter member id and state.  This form displays the "save" and "complete" buttons.  Fill in the info and select "complete".
    3.  This starts the process to assign a task to the team member.  It goes out to the network drive and gets the correct pdf document to be used for the application.  It is assigned to a document variable.  The task uses this document variable as the User Interface for the task.
    4.  The team member goes out to the queue and starts the task.
    5.  The pdf document opens correctly within workspace.
The issue I have is that it doesn't have a "Save" button to save the document in the drafts folder.  How do I enable this feature or get it to work correctly?
    PDF document Info:
Able to save locally using the save button within reader.  There is no save or submit button on the forms.
I believe it uses reader extentions.
A packet of several forms with heavy use of javascript.

I think you need to check the Reader Extension on your fomr. Below post also talks about the same:

  • Apple mail won't save outgoing server port...? Odd symptom.

Each time I close Mail, the SMTP port reverts to 25. I can enter a new port, but Mail won't save that port info. I have to re-enter after opening Mail each time.
    Symptom goes like this:
Open Mail, then when sending 1st message after opening app an error "cannot send mail using selected server" appears. I need to go into the settings & switch the port from the default port that is displayed (25), to 3535. After doing that & clicking ok, closing the window, the password dialog box appears & mail sends just fine. Every other message from that point will send.
Close Mail, then reopen. Have to repeat same process again.

Two weeks later (after post, above)
I Solved the Problem - I reinstalled Mac OSX 10.6.6 (It was rather painless)
My Mail is working again. Safari now also again remembers passwords.
Also, my Aperture's Mail export also works. (Mail is no longer grayed out).

  • Apple Mail won't save to iPhoto

On snowLeopard, with a 'last year's' version of iPhoto...Mail will not send photo to iPhoto.
I have the button to send to iPhoto, and iPhoto dock icon does a little bounce, but picture doesn't show up in iPhoto.
Even from QuickLook, I can press that "Send to iphoto"...but the picture never appears in iPhoto.
    We did repair permissions.
This OSX was recently clean install.
User was migrated from iBook g4 (Tiger, I think).
    Help?
    Thanks,
    rickvv

    Greetings Rick,
    Questions:
What version of iPhoto are you running?
Do you have a backup of your iPhoto Library?
When was the last time you did this process and it worked and what has changed between then and now?
    As a test:
    Quit iPhoto
Hold down the option key and launch iPhoto
Click to create a new test iPhoto Library
    Quit iPhoto
Open Mail and attempt to save and image to the new test iPhoto Library
    Cheers.

  • Apple Mail - sending multiple emails from drafts folder

    Hi all,
So If I save few emails in drafts - then later want to send tham at the same time - I can go to drafts and highlight them and choose messages > send
but the problem is each opens up and says:
    cannot send message
This message could not be sent because your account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server. Select an outgoing mail server from the list below.
    - however - in accounts I do have a smtp chosen and use only this server is checked.... (and single emails work fine)
    - Q: so I want to be able to just highlight the several mail and send them all at once - without the extra dialogs......
    How do I fix this?

    Thanks Old Toad,
i think I had done that....
1 - So I just made 2 test emails from =  my main account and saved each in drafts - each says from = [email protected] as they all do and work corretly when sent...
2 - then i go to drafts and highlight the 2 I just made - and choose menu - messages > send
then it says are you sure...
then it has this error for each one
Maybe you can try this also to see if you have the same issue?

  • "Save" and "Quick Look" buttons not showing in Apple Mail

Dear list members, in Apple Mail on my new iMac, the buttons "Save" and "Quick Look" are not showing in the messages. That's very odd, because I can see those buttons in my old mac normally. I tried one solution proposed in another thread (Mail>Preferences>View>Details>All) but it didn't work. Could you please help me? Thank you.

Sorry, if I'm mistaken, but I thought this was the OSX forum. In my title bar, I see:

  • Simulate gmail archive behavior with iCloud and apple mail (lion)

does anyone know of a way to configure an iCloud mail account in apple mail (lion) such that the delete button actually archives email?  i'd like to simulate the behavior of a gmail account in apple mail, which does just that, i.e. delete sends messages to the "All Mail" folder.  in this case, i'd like it to send emails to the "Archive" folder.  as i have one gmail account and one iCloud account, it would be great if there was one consistent means of archiving mail, versus using the ctrl-cmd-A shortcut for iCloud mail.
iOS 5 actually has such a setting to do just that: "Archive Messages" under the iCloud mail settings.  so it seems strange to me that apple mail would not.
    thanks!

Actually, Apple has always supported using custom folders in iMap for Deleted Messages, Drafts, Sent, & Junk. But I agree that with the release of 10.7.2 and iCloud with their new Archive feature, they haven't made it easy!
I run my Mac in Swedish, so forgive me if I don't remember or get the exact wording of each option 100% correct, but I'm sure you'll figure it:
In Mail Settings under your iCloud account, and in the middle tab (Mail Box Functions?), under the trash option at the bottom, make sure that:
Move deleted mail to the trash can is Checked!
Save deleted mail on on the server is Checked!
Delete trashed (?) mail permanently is set to NEVER!
Then go back to the main mail window and display the folders for your iCloud account on the LH side
    Select your achive folder.
Go to the Mail Box menu in the menubar, Select "Use this mailbox for..." and then Select trash.
You will not notice that your archive folder now appears under the trash can in Apple Lion Mail (and the deleted items folder that is no longer the trash will appear under the folders).
This works a treat, and in fact I use this for Gmail as well. If you're interested, I have so much mail in all mail, but I want to have everything in Apple Mail. I also get to have a private backup on my Mac (and Time Machine).
So, in Gmail, I have an "Apple Trash" folder which I link to deleted items as above, and which every six months or so I relabel (in the gmail app) to another folder. That way I don't have 50,000 mails in my trash. I don't activate All Mail in Gmail's IMAP because everything I have is always in at least one other folder / lable which syncs to my mac!

  • Can packaging save as draft?

    Hi Develope exports,
My B1 Ver. 2007B(PL13). I fond that till this version, Packaging can't save as draft.
I create an A/R Invoice and save it as draft ,with a  Packaging appended.  When I open the Invoice draft, right click and reopen packaging form, it shows nothing.  I must have to refill all the packing details.
Even on Delivery Document, the packaging can't save as draft.
It doesn't make sense . Will it be fix up by next PL?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You would be able to save a sales order as draft only while the add button is active that is you haven't added the sales order. Once you have added a sales order in the system, the save as draft button would be disabled. However, as you say that you have duplicated the sales order, before adding, you should be abe to save tat order as draft. if this is not the case, i think you need to raise a ticket to sap. Try searchin for SAP Notes on the same.
    Thanks,
    Joseph

  • Apple mail in OSX Mavericks not saving preferences changes

Earlier today Apple Mail went buggy, refusing to send messages, displaying no email messages in any box, and hanging.  I deleted the com.apple.mail directory in an effort to salvage my email.  I got the email back, but now Apple Mail will not save changes made in preferences and will not allow me to reinstall MailTags.  I have no idea what is going on here.  Any help would be most welcome.

I've been having this problem on all my devices since using mavericks. And it's not only with gmail - also with private mail-clients. Looking for a descent fix!!!

  • Purging duplicate messages Apple Mail / Gmail

After about 5 years of using Apple Mail to access my Gmail account, I've belatedly set up it up 'properly' so that I'm no longer storing a local copy of the "All Mail" folder from my Gmail account (i.e. everything I've ever sent/received, which was often duplicated if I didn't 'delete' it!). This successfully purged several GB.
I also changed the settings so that my Gmail "Sent" and "Drafts" folders are used as the same on Apple Mail. However, I think I might still have some duplicates of the "Sent" and "Drafts" folders / messages? I say this because in Finder, I see that I have the following folders:
    Hugo -> Library -> Mail -> [email protected] -> [Gmail -> Sent Mail.imapmbox
    Hugo -> Library -> Mail -> Mailboxes -> Sent Messages (Gmail).mbox
These are 2.81GB and 856MB respectively, so it feels like there's probably some duplication. Any thoughts?

in case you haven't found the answer yet... using an imap account in apple mail, select the mailbox [Gmail]/drafts. go to the menu Mailbox/Use This Mailbox For and select "Drafts". same goes for sent, trash, and junk. though i recommend reading google's help on using imap before making these kinds of changes. and be aware that gmail and apple mail don't play together perfectly.

  • Apple Mail - Can't Send - Buttons do not respond

I have a new mac on the network,I setup a pop3 account in Apple Mail. It received fine but will not send.
No errors are reported. When I create a new message and click the send, it doesn't nothing. Same response as if I click save as draft. I have tried just changing the smtp settings but it doesn't make any difference. Any suggestions?

Are you really running Mac OS X 10.4.1, as your profile indicates? If not, then please update the Operating System field on your My Settings’s profile (and click Save), so that it accurately reflects the version of Mac OS X you’re running now. This is essential information that should always be provided when asking for help.
This problem in Mail is usually caused by some Launch Services cache or preferences corruption that affects the built-in spell checker. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services — the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:
    Resetting Launch Services
If you prefer using a cache cleaning utility instead of following the manual procedure described in the previous article, take a look at this other article for general troubleshooting and cache-cleaning procedures. Actually, you should also verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described there:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
The most appropriate utility for this particular problem probably is Tiger Cache Cleaner, but you may also want to consider other utilities, such as OnyX, or Cache Out X, which are free. Whatever utility you choose, be sure to read this first:
Side effects of System cache cleaning
As an example, this is how you should proceed with OnyX:
    1. Quit all applications.
    2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
    3. Go to Maintenance > Reset and check LaunchServices database.
    4. Un-check any other pre-checked options.
    5. Click the Execute button.
    6. Restart the computer.
