Apple Mail and Google Apps (personal domain) - 554 554 Denied Mail Delivery Subsystem (Intermittent Failure)

Hello,
I am having problems with my Apple Mail and Google Apps and I don't know what to do.  I have been using apple mail with google apps for a few months now with no complications.  In the last week I have recieved a handful of messages from the Mail Delivery Subsystem citing error "554 554 Denied". I know that the emails I have tried to send to are real emails and are entered correctly. I tried to send directly from google apps to one of these people today and it worked so I assume the problem is with Apple Mail, or is intermittent. Adding to my frustration is that it works with some people and not with others so it's hard for me to see exactly what is causing the problem.
Any ideas?
I'll include a copy of one of the Mail Delivery Subsystem emails I recieved - excluding the email address and message body.
Thanks for your help!

For mail issue, I had the same problem. My mail password was different than my itunes password and when I changed mail to itunes password, it started working again. Not sure about the google apps issue.
hope this helps a bit.

  • Carddav syncing between apple contacts and google apps

I set up carddav syncing between my macbook's contacts app and google apps contact.
Now I got 2 accounts into contacts, a local one ("on my mac") and the google one.
There are 2 contacts groups, for when I open a card contacts tell me the contact is both on my mac and on google contacts.
The strangest thing is that when I set up carddav syncing between contacts and google apps automatically the iCloud contacts sycing got activated.
I try to deactivate it but then it goes on by itslef again.
My questions would be: can I get rid of the local group of contacts, I am not interested into? I just want one group of ontacts, the one which syncs with google apps. As a matter of fact, when viewing a contact with 2 cards, the contacts app merges the two card together and it's a mess, I cannot see modification from the server.
What is the point in having iCloud syncing on? I am not using it at all.
How does the syncing work? Is it sort of push or does it work every certain amount of time?
    Thank you.

Try going to Settings>iCloud on your iPad, turn contacts off, choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud), then turn contacts on again and choose Merge when prompted.  Then go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the contacts section) and make sure it's set to your iCloud account.  Then add a test contact on your iPad and see if it syncs properly now.

  • Best push email domain solution (Google apps for Domains?)

What email service provider offers the best iPhone push email support. Obviously, Mac OS X Server 10.6 would be the best, but as far as third party options that can host your domain's email accounts and get you push on the iPhone and IMAP in Apple Mail?
Looking at Google Apps for Domains, but concerned about how it has to have two of each message to work with IMAP correctly.
    Thanks for any thoughts!

    Zimbra is another potential solution

I just finished migrating a client from Google Apps to Microsoft Exchange Online using the IMAP option in the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tool.
I added the mailboxes by creating a CSV file [i.e. GoogleApps(Gmail)_Mailboxes.csv] in the following format:
    SourceIdentity,SourceServer,SourceLoginID,SourcePassword,TargetIdentity
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword1,[email protected]
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword2,[email protected]
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword3,[email protected]
Then I created a custom folder map XML file [i.e. GoogleApps(Gmail)_FolderMap.xml] to map the Google Apps (Gmail) labels to the appropriate Exchange (Outlook) mailbox folders and create those that didn't exist (i.e. Important, Starred, Follow up,
Misc, Priority) as sub-folders under the Inbox:

Additionally, I had to tell the Internet E-mail Mailbox Migration Wizard to use the "Individual Account Credentials" option since I was able to specify each account password in the CSV file when adding the mailboxes to Microsoft Online Services Migration
    Tools console.
Just to note, the users had to manually export their contacts to a CSV file and calendars to iCal (ICS) files in order to import those items into Outlook.
I hope this will benefit others since Microsoft doesn't seem to have a custom, specifically defined migration strategy for this scenario.  With Google Apps being in direct competition with BPOS/Office365, I assumed that Microsoft would have a simple
strategy using something like ActiveSync to facilitate the migration of email, contacts, calendar entries, etc.  Hopefully we'll see something along those lines become available in a future release of the migration tools.

  • Trouble sending to google apps hosted domains

We recently migrated to a new AD domain with a new Exchange 2013 box.  Prior to that we were on Exchange 2007 in a different domain.  We use postini for our spam/virus filtering.
Since we've moved to the Exchange 2013 solution, we have started having issues with some (not all) Google apps hosted domains.  The firewall and IP of the server stayed the same regardless of the change.  I looked into routing all of our outbound
mail (or just specific domains) through Postini to help with this issue, but their instructions work for 2007 and 2010 - not 2013.  I tried setting it up with their directions, but modifying it for 2013, but that was a big failure.  We are seeing
    message delayed codes returned.
Remote Server returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
I did some research through Google Apps, but the only thing I found is a server reboot, which does nothing.
I have it working right now by routing everything for these Google Apps hosted domains by creating a separate send connector that routes through smtp.google.com as a smart host (using a gmail ID and password) but that's only going to work for so many messages
before it bombs, and we won't even get a notification.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot send message to google apps hosted domains after upgrading to exchange 2013. correct?
I recommend you post the header of the returned mail, it will help us to troubleshoot the issue.
In addition, I recommend use "Nslookup" to resolve these host domains in your server, and check the result.
If any misunderstanding, please feel free let me know.
    Thanks.

My 10.8.3 update did not install properly citing an 'Unknown Error'. Now, my Mail and Mac App Store aren't working. What went wrong and how do i fix it ?

I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that  are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

    hello
The problem appeared two days ago is that I can't open my mail app. everything was fine and functional. Now I double click on the icon and it does not respond. it receives mail and I can see push notifications on the mail icon but when  I try to open it is no use. OS Y 10.10.2 (14C1514)

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Restart the computer. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Will a more powerful processor increase my GMail and Google Apps speed??

Will a more powerful processor increase my GMail and Google Apps speed??

I take it that you know the processor in the iMac G4 is not upgradeable. It's soldered to the logic board. The 20" iMac G4 had the fastest process of any G4 iMac--1.25Ghz-- so you're maxed out there.
Do "About the Mac.." from the the Apple menu to see how much RAM is installed. Sluggishness can be due to too little RAM.
Sluggish performance can be a too full hard drive. Single click your hard drive's icon then do command i to see the values of Capacity, Available, and Used. the space Available should be no less than 10-15 percent of the vaule under Capacity.
For comparison, I have a G4 tower with a single 1.25Ghz processor and the same bus speed and video RAM you have, and it is not at all sluggish with anything other than Office 2008, which is sluggish all by itself. My G4 has 1.75G RAM and a bunch of free space on the hard drive.

  • Mail thru Google Apps

alright....gmail/google apps and mail have tried, time and time again to get connected, and cannot seem to get it. I didn't search the forum (which i should have), but does anyone have any knowledge of a problem between Mail and g-mail/g-apps? Even though I check my mail thru google apps dashboard at gmail.com, my email address is [email protected] The john doe is of course false, but our site isnt...SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

I have a similiar problem, maybe somebody can help.
I use Google Apps (Professional) as well and I now bought a MacBookPro, want to use Imail and my emails up on the Google server.
I inserted all the data, they do speak but all the folders that the Mac downloaded are empty, I can not see the emails, etc.
Only in "all mail" are all the emails but not in the individual folders.
Is there a fix? Maybe some kind of google sync? Different software? I am willing to get something different if that is what it needs!
    Thanks, your help is appreciated!

I foolishly downloaded OS8 on my iPhone 4S. It not only greyed out my wifi button making it impossiblr to use wifi, but bluetooth connection doesn't work either. I reset the phone to factory settings but that did nothing apart from loose all my photos and contacts. OS 8 was still on after too. Apple say it is a problem but the download only brought the fact the hardware was faulty to the fore, but not being under warranty , the repair would cost £166 that I would have to pay. Totally unacceptable. If the problem was known and they knew it would cause problems on older models, why have it bob up on iTUNES for download.
Don;t download it guys, APPLE aren't admitting culpability and it will cost you a fortune to put right!!

  • HELP: CLOSING MAIL AND GOOGLE MAPS

    Dear guys,
My 3gs suffer from battery drain caused by background 3g traffic data activity.
Even if I have no background running app, my phone keeps sending receiving huge mb of data.
I've downloaded from appstore an app, system lite, which has revealed that, between runnin apps, there are mail and google maps. Maybe this colud cause traffic data.
How can I close them? Obviously, double pressing home button doesn't show these apps running....
    Thanks in advance.

If double pressing the home button does not show the programs in the bar, they are not running. There is no possible way for them to be running in the background unless they are showing the quick switching bar.
What is showing in this bar when you double tap the home button?
Have you tried the basics from the manual or reset, restart, and restore?

  • Sharing an apple ID and downloading apps. HELP!!!

My husband and I used to share one apple ID and all apps downloaded onto the same computer through that ID. We did share some of the apps but he downloaded some and I downloaded others.
Now we both have out own apple ID's but I cant seem to get any updates on my apps unless I use the old apple id. What are my options?
    Thanks!

If you want to keep your iCloud data, you would need to migrate your device and a copy of the data to a new account.  To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; others keeping the account will not be effected by this), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on your own account, you can go to icloud.com and manually delete any data you don't want in your account without effecting anyone else.

I checked the prefs on both apps and it is set to give me the alert sound, I can even test it in the ichat pref when I change the new message alert sound it will play it thru my speakers but when I get a new message in either app it just gives me the white flash.
I'm read that it can be an issue of not having the balance in the system sound pref set the middle, so I checked that, restarted, all that but still no luck.
I really like the sound alert features because I can be in another part of my house, turn the sound way up and I'll know when one of my clients is trying to reach me but now I can't do that.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
