Apple Mail has stopped talking to the server, or so it seem
My Apple Mail has stopped talking to the server (Mobile Me), or so it seems. I was sending a couple of attachments the other day and too late realised that they were huge. They were PDF's I'd done, and I hadn't checked the size, so I ended up with 32Mb of attachments on a single email.
This seemed to mess things up. I tried deleting the sending message from Mail as I couldn't seem to stop it sending, which I think I managed to do, but it kept reappearing in the drafts and deleted folders.
I can access mail fine from Mobile Me and have managed to send what I needed from there, but now Mail doesn't seem to connect to the server (I just get the wheel), and whilst its trying my other mail accounts, which are on another ISP, disconnect.
Mail is giving me an error message now when I try to quit: +"Some actions taken while the account "me.com" was offline could not be completed online"+. The additional info says that operation could not be completed: MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028
Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this?

Not looking the correct place. Home means to click on he Icon of House that represents your user account folder as found in the sidebar of every Finder window. Then in that User Library. You clicked on the hard drive icon, but then looked in the Library at its root level -- wrong Library.
Also can be written as ~/Library.

This problem just started 2 days ago. When I send mail I hear the little "sent" sound, but the email does not appear in my sent box. I am pretty sure that the emails are actually getting sent because I am getting replies to them.
It's just really annoying to not know if something has been sent or not (especially when they are emails to my boss).
I have an IMAP account set up with my school email address, and it has been set up for 2 years, it's working fine (the emails are actually getting sent to the best of my knowledge).What you say doesn’t make sense. If messages sent from this account have been saved locally on your computer instead of on the server all this time, it has to be because Store sent messages on the server was OFF. Otherwise, messages sent from this account would have been stored on the server (or not at all if Mail couldn’t do that for some reason).
If Store sent messages on the server is ON, then the Sent mailbox that you see in Mail has to be somewhere on the server, but its real name could be something else (e.g. Sent Messages).
Changing the Store sent messages on the server setting causes a different mailbox to become associated with the standard Sent, so it should be no surprise that the contents of Sent in Mail change as a result, but the mailbox that was previously associated with Sent doesn’t just disappear; it should appear somewhere else in the mailbox list with its real name and a generic folder icon.

No, if you’re talking about the standard Sent with the paperplane icon, that’s not what I’m asking. Actually, I didn’t mention “Sent” in that question at all, did I? I asked about mailboxes on the server in general? Or doesn’t this account have any server-stored mailboxes? -
Apple mail has stopped downloading my e-mails from Yahoo sky mail
My Sky e-mails have stopped downloading through Apple mail on my macbook and my iphone 5 but I have another address that still works (also through Yahoo!!). The mail download bar starts up but then doesn't download anything. I can send e-mails from Sky account through Apple Mail but the e-mail doesn't show up in the sent folder. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the account but this has done nothing.
When I go into the mail account, it tells me that I have a messages total and an amount unread - the 'load more messages' text but won't do anything else

Mail has not downloaded from the server
We been using POP and just started to switch to IMAP for mail because of the iPhone. For some odd reason Mac Mail has a problem not downloading the body of the message and think it's offline. Most messages are fine. There's only 5 messages in the Inbox so size of the mailbox should not be an issue. Because IMAP is a server based, all messages are saved on the server. I deleted the IMAP and created a POP and selected to keep the messages on the server. The problematic message downloaded fine. I deleted the POP and re-created the IMAP and the problem message still can't download the body. I've installed Entourage using IMAP and sees the problematic message without problems. The OSX 10.4.10 is a clean install without any other apps and all updates installed.
Why is Mac Mail not able to retrieve some messages and others fine in IMAP. I've rebuild the mailbox and re-indexed the Envelope Index database with no help.Ernie,
Thanks for the article. I came across this article today and decided to install a email server to duplicate the problem. I've ask the email ISP to attached a copy of the problematic email and send it to me so I can place it in the new server. Problem solved. It was exactly like the article said. Using another server software, Mac Mail was able to download the problematic mail in the original form without problems. So it looks like Apple needs to follow industry standards more and fix this problem.

The latest version of the MailSite IMAP service has been designed to adhere more tightly to the RFC specification than was previously the case. This has led to the discovery of a potential bug within the Mac OS X bundled mail client Mail 2. This is the only E-Mail client that is affected.
More Information:
This problem is caused by the mail client sending two commands at the same time. This is normally fine but the Mac client does not send a terminating line feed for the second command. This causes the client to appear hung, when in reality the IMAP service is waiting for the terminating line feed to complete the command. Once the IMAP connection timeout is reached the connection will be dropped and the client will become responsive again.

I recently put on a PowerPoint presentation at DU, in Denver Colorado; signed on as DU guest to access Internet link. SInce then I haven't been able to get e-mail on my Iphone - Cannot Get Mail, Server Stopped Responding. I tried all previous suggestions, such as rebooting phone, updating software etc. I went to MacBook Pro and tried logging on to yahoo e-mail. Apparently there was a security risk to my e-mail account so Yahoo locked up my account. I reset my password, it was verified through text message, and Voila it worked. Don't forget you also have to change this on your Iphone: go into settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; click on your e-mail browser, then account and enter your new password, click done and it will verify on you phone as well. When I try to send e-mail I get an error message stating that the e-mail address was rejected by the server. When I send to e-mail from another address, I get back an error saying the e-mail address is unknown. My e-mail has worked fine for years until yesterday. HELP!
The specific text of the error message is very important here — I'm not sure exactly you're encountering here.
If you're able to connect to your email server and are able send email to other email addresses and if the failures are specific to one email recipient address, then please contact the intended recipient of the failing email, and confirm their address is valid. (This is the way I'm reading your question.)
If you are unable to send any email to any other email addresses and this is specific to your email address, then try the web mail client interface (if one is available) to verify your login user and password, and check with your email ISP for assistance. If your email password works via web mail, follow this Apple troubleshooting guide, then — if everything else fails — I'd probably then entirely remove the email account from Mail.app and re-add it per your email ISP's particular setup requirements. (Some issue with the setup or maybe a corrupt setting in OS X or a problem at the mail ISP servers is a common problem, but this effects attempts to send to all email addresses via that account.)
An email account setup is specific to an email provider, unfortunately. If you're using one of the more common email ISPs, then there are usually setup guides and frequently-asked questions posted online. -

In there you are going to be renaming the file APSDeamon to APSDeamon.BAK and agree to any prompts that may appear. When you next open iTunes it will force iTunes to recreate that file as it is no longer able to find it. Now your apple devices should work again with your computer. -

purchasing a movie from apple tv has stopped working. I click on "movies" and it takes me back to the same screen instead of the movies available. I have updated software, unplugged the modem & apple tv box, & the tv; Netflix still works!
Welcome to the Apple Community.
First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore). -
I am not able to send mails through Yahoo APP. It gives me an error msg :"the sender address has ben rejected by the server ".
I tried adding username and password in the SMTP server settings,But those optiopns are greyed out.
So, i am not able to enter anything in fields under SMTP server settingsYou probably have changing settings disabled in Restrictions.

I have a 3rd generation shuffle. It has stopped working with the earphones it came w/pinch buttons on the cord. It will no longer advance to next song/change the volume. Even with a new set of Apple earbuds, it does same thing. How do i factory reset or fix the problem?

Several days ago some of the links in my Apple Mail messages stopped working. Specifically, the links going to some variation of "response beacon" don't work. All I see is a blank screen. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

So everything on this page relates to Apple products. I am running a Sony laptop with Windows and as soon as I install iCloud desktop iTunes has stopped working. The only time I ever needed it. GREAT! Do you do this on purpose?
The latest version of iTunes tends to act up occassionaly. See this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 and remove and reinstall iTunes. This will not affect your music library, apps or other content in iTunes. Make sure you follow the steps exactly.
Also, just copying the ringtone will not get it into your phone. iPhone ringtones have an extension of m4r, and you have to first take the Media player file and covert it to an AAC version. From there you need to change the extension from m4a to m4r. If you cannot see file extensions in Windows Explorer, which is actually the default action, go into Organize>Folder and search options, then hit the View tab, and then remove the checkmark by hide file extensions from known file types. After you have created the m4a version and changed the file extension, you can double-click on it and it should show up in the Tones folder in iTunes. From there, sync the phone and it should show up in the list of ringtones.
