APPLE MAIL is sending emails from wrong address

Hello,
This question has probably been asked before, but I haven't been able to find it. Feel free to send me there with a link if it's helpful.
Here's my plight:
I use gmail IMAP and manage 2 email accounts through Apple Mail (5.2). One is the domain catch-all email, [email protected], and the other is my main personal account, [email protected] Usually, whichever mailbox I click on is the address from which my mail is sent. But recently, whenever I've sent mail from [email protected], the recipient has been seeing my personal address ([email protected]), rather than the Info address. But the address line still says "Info" and not my name, if that makes sense. Example:
NORMAL: FirstName LastName "<[email protected]>"; Info "<[email protected]">
NOW (PROBLEM): Info "<[email protected]>"
The replies to the mail I sent from Info are then sent to my personal account. I checked the mail preferences and the Info settings are the same as they've always been. It says the name is Info and the address is [email protected] I'm not sure why Apple Mail is suddenly thinking that the Info emails are coming from my personal account. Is this an Apple Mail issue, or a Gmail issue? Help! I don't want people to be receiving emails from my personal account when it should be from the Info account. Do I need to delete the entire Info mailbox from Apple Mail and start all over?

Agreed. I had three gmail accounts, 2 business, one personal, but lately all my attempts to send mail from my personal account wound up being sent from Business instead, even after selecting which account to send it from.
I went into Preferences, Account info, then found all outgoing smtp servers simply called gmail but there were three in the list. It turned out that all my accounts were being directed to one server address.
If you drop down the Edit SMTP Server list, then select each account under Account Information you can see which server is dedicated to which account. Then you can edit the name of the related gmail server to the related account. So you can have gmail personal, gmail business 1, gmail business 2 etc.
Once you have the servers renamed (all the same actually but tells mail which account credentials to use), you can then select the appropriate server to match the right account under Preferences>Account Info front page.
Worked for me.

My Iphone is sending emails from a gmail account I no longer wish to use. I cannot find any trace of these details on the phone, I have deleted and set up the one I want to use but it is still happening. I am missing important messages because I send them from the correct details but if people hit 'reply' they are sent to gmail. Soooooo annoying!

Reboot your iPhone. Then check Settings > Mail > Accounts and make sure the account you no long want to use is either turned off ( if you plan to use it again in the future) or deleted.

Mail is sending email from wrong account.

Every time I send or reply to an email it sends from my wifes account. If people reply to it, it goes back to her account. when I compose a new email I use the drop down menu that says from: *******@me.com, I make sure its from my account and I send it. When it gets to the person its says its from my wife. I have look in the preferences and it is using selected account to send from. I have tried to force it to only send from my account but it always sends from my wifes account. Any Ideas?

Not in Preferences. That usually works for a message-by-message basis.
With a message composition window open in Apple Mail make the following menu selection:
View > Reply-To Address Field.
If it's blank, fine.
It is possible to make it permanent via Terminal, someone would have had to do it at some stage; just wanted to ensure it was not fixed.
Do check the SMTP servers set for each account.

I had the same issue and managed to solve it.
Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Then in the account information tab, at the bottom should be outgoing mail server (SMTP) and click the drop down box
Mine had a few different servers in it so i went into edit SMPT server list. Click advanced and it will tell you which ones are going from which email address.
Delete the ones you dont want, and it should work or instead of deleting click use only this server, i imagine that will work to

TS3899 Problems sending email from hotmail addresses in iPad Mail

I am having problems sending email from my hotmail addresses (live.com) in the Mail program on my iPad. I get a message that says "An error occurred while sending this message". Tis morning the program worked perfectly. Now, not so much!
I have turned my iPad off and on. I have deleted and reinstalled the mail accounts. Neither strategy helped.
I have no problems with my gmail address. I can send mail if I log on to the hotmail website in Safari.
Any ideas?

I would like to find a way to only have the gmail inbox but still send from any three of her accounts.
You can do it this way:
Set up only one account. The one from which you want to receive mail.
In Mail > Preferences > Accounts > +gmail acct+ > Email Address insert the other email addresses, separating each with a comma and single space.
Only the GMail account will receive incoming Mail. However, when you want to send from another address, in the From dropdown menu toggle the address from which you wish to send mail.
You will, of course, delete the other accounts you have created to avoid getting incoming messages.

Sending email from different addresses under one account.

So, I'm having an issue that's a little bit complicated, and in fact, I don't even know if there is a solution. But, if anyone knows how to do this, I'd greatly appreciatte your help.
So, here's what I'm trying to do.
Right now, I have three different email accounts, an icloud and two gmails. I have both of those gmails set up so that they forward to my icloud account. So, in the mail app on my iphone, I only have my icloud account. I've been trying to reduce clutter by doing this, and it seems to be working pretty well, save for this issue.
The problem I am having is still being able to respond to emails sent to one of those two gmail accounts with the same email address. I.e.-if someone emails me at my gmail account, it's then forwarded to icloud, but I still want to respond from that gmail account using the mail app on my iphone. I'd like to do this without setting adding the two "dead" gmail accounts onto my phone, because everything is more streamlined when I'm only using icloud.
I've been able to do this using iMail on my mac by adding the two gmail addresses to my icloud account in settings, as well as the gmail server. So on my mac, I only have icloud set up in imail, but I can compose emails using my two gmail addresses. I pretty much want to be able to do the same thing on my iphone.
Does anyone know how this can, or even if, it can be set up?
Also, if it can't be done in the native mail app to ios, do you know of any third party apps where something like this would be possible?

Thank you for your question.
When he replies to my email and changes the "send From"
to [email protected] and send the email, It will still show that it was sent from @mainDomain.com.
Now, I think the issue is within his Exchange mailbox, his default reply email address is @MainDomain.com.
A:You are right. By our testing. We could just send emails with primary address, but we could receive emails with primary address and second address.
How do I get around this. The client wants to utilize sending email from both domains since he has clients in both domains.
A: If we want to send email with specific email address, we could manually modify the primary email address to the specific domain by Exchange administrator. And the client didn’t use customized email address to send emails.

Huge problem using apple mail while sending email to a group...

Hey - I am quite confused... apple mail has huge problems using groups with about 150 addresses when writing and sending an email... the writing of emails is nearly impossible. Once the group name is inserted in the addressline (address book in iCloud!), apple mail uses nearly 100% CPU and further writing is nearly impossible. When sending such an email, all addresses are suddenly visible - though the box is NOT checked and the addresses should be hidden... what can I do? I use this feature (sending mails to groups) on a daily basis and cannot accept visible addresses...

How about next time you send to the group, cc yourself, or include yourself in the group. Then receive the email on the iphone, you can "reply all" in order to send to the group. If you use an imap account, you can make a new folder, call it something like "groups", and save different group emails there for the next time you need to "reply all".

Mailbox sending emails from another address?

I don't think this is in the right category however I couldn't work out which forum to put it under.
Basically I have several accounts in my mailbox. I recently deleted one of them as I don't want to use that email address anymore, however, emails are STILL sending from that email addressdespite it not being listed in my mailbox anymore and even when I've chosen the actualy email address I want to send it from in the drop down (where this old one no longer appears)
Why is this happening? They're Gmail accounts by the way.

You can check your Gmail SMTP (outgoing) account setting in Mail > Preferences > Accounts (see below). Make sure it's set to the correct account.

How to use Yahoo or Gmail instead of Mail to send emails from Web Browser?

When I'm on the web & want to send a web page or link as an email, how do I change the default so I can use either my Yahoo or Gmail email account?
I don't want Apple Mail to open, but I want it sent from my internet email account.

A rather primitive way to use GMail via browser, is to
get a second browser for use with the web mail, & also
get Google Notifier, so you can select GMail to run in a
browser of your choice via Notifier.
For mine, I use Camino, a decently quick and current
browser; and have chosen it as the system Default
browser (you can do that in Safari) so Camino opens
if/when you click on something that needs a browser.
Notifier can run in the main Menu bar, and does OK.
As my systems all have at least four current browsers,
and I often find my use centers around Firefox, the
second browser used for web mail does not affect my
use of the primary browser when doing online tasks.
And I can hide the open web mail browser in the Dock.
So, this is my primitive cure for using web mail via browser.
This, due to the fact I never use any client Mail application.
And when I leave my computer (it is left asleep) I am sure to
use the Camino browser 'reset' command to wipe sessions.
(If you have your computer set up to require a password to
function on awakening from sleep, that can help keep it safe.)
Not sure how you could handle Yahoo mail, probably with a
login link in a browser, so you can click on it; or have the
Yahoo login a home page in a limited-use secure browser.
Probably there are other and better ideas; since I don't use
an email client app and don't have email other than Gmail,
this is a primitive way to make it work. Gmail Notifier is OK.
Not sure how supportive it may be, but it works in 10.5.8.
{And this allows one to choose an IP or other supplied email
account via Mail, separate from the gmail accounts.}

I am having 3 main problems with my exchange server as below:
1. One my Exchange user is sending email to other users within the organization but when the recipient receive the email, it appear that another exchange user is sending the email.
2. user from outside is trying to send email to Exchange user but when the recipient receive the email, it appear that another exchange user is sending the email.

1. That can happen if the other user is sending from the first user or is logged into the other user's mailbox. See if you can reproduce the issue while watching exactly what the users are doing. That may also happen if one user is forwarding
the mail by rule.
2. That can also appear to be the case when the apparent sender is forwarding mail by rule.
3. Using ADSI Edit, look at the legacyExchangeDN attribute of the users. Please post them here if you have any questions.

Apple Mail Automatically Sending Emails Before I Hit Send

I'm having a recurring problem with Apple Mail where emails are being sent by the program before I hit send, so addressee's are receiving half written/finished emails.
I have sync'd 2 x gmail accounts to my Apple Mail, and the same problem happens with each account. Does anyone know what to do to fix this as it's highly annoying!

Send Email from Alternate Address or at least Repl...

I'm coming from the world of blackberries, so pardon my frustration. I've tried to find a solution for this and am coming up empty. My situation: I have a work email, however, it is a Pop account (nothing I can do about that). I am out of the office a lot so I need to be able to have real time access to my emails (push). I setup a gmail account for my work address then had my it admin forward all incoming mail to the gmail account... and just have my reply to address be my work email address. Great on a blackberry. Not so great so far on my E71. Now when I try to send an email, it shows that it's coming from my gmail account vs my work account. The only email that will let me do this is the gmail app, but unfortunately it doesn't have a method to notify me of new messages on the phone.
Is there an email client out there that will either let me customize the outgoing server credentials or include a different reply to address?
I like the look and integration of Nokia messaging (html, keyboard shortcuts, layout, etc). All the rest just look like **bleep** from what I've tried (bunched sender name, title, non html email, etc.) Am I just spoiled coming from a blackberry that had everything built in and just worked? Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

I talked with a tech today and he said I cloud is having problems which should be resolved shortly.
In the mean time I used the .me smtp server settings which allowed me to send mail.

Apple Mail not sending email something about port 25

I am a brand new iMac user. I am unable to use the native iMac mail. When I try to send a message it says something about not being able to send mail...port 25. Any ideas. Is there some kind of set up I need to do? I have a high speed Internet connection and it is working just fine.

This is a common issue between your mail provider and your internet provider. It sounds like your ISP isn't letting you use port 25 to send outgoing mail, which is quite common now, since some internet worms use that port.
Check with your mail provider to see if you can use an alternate port for SMTP (outgoing mail). One possible port is 587. You can set this in Mail Preferences, under Accounts, then Server Settings.
