Apple Mail list all recipients?

When I look in mailboxes, Apple Mail only shows the first recipient on the item's TO list.
Is there a way to get it to list all recipients in the mailbox view?

Select the "Sent" folder at the left of Mail's window.
If any message is selected, deselect it by doing CMND+CLICK
Enter a search term:
Click on "Message contains: sarah":
Click on "ANY" and choose "TO" from the dropdown menu:
Add "Alex" after "sarah""
Click on "Message contains: alex":
Click on "ANY" and choose "TO" from the dropdown menu:
All messages to both  "Sarah" and Alex will be listed in the usual message list to the left of Mail's message editing window, including those sent to Alex whether Alex as a main recipient, as cc or bcc. However, if a Conversation exists for any group of messages, other recipients might also be included lower down in the messages within that conversation, which seems logical because they took part in that conversation.
Hope this works for you.

  • Download an Apple mail lists and converting the post to emlx files

    Hello,
its about to get, on the Apple mail lists, posts and converting those to emlx files.
Does someone has experience with this, or is there any tool or script already on the web to do that?
    Thanks in advance

The directory layout is pretty simple. You could use wget to grab it all and work on it at leisure. Use Perl scripts to walk through the directories. For the HTML itself, you could use Perl or something like tagsoup to make sense out of it. I suggest just outputting the result into a plain old mbox format and let Apple Mail do the work to convert it into emlx.

    Hi Edwin,
Try force quitting the Mail app:
Option+Command+Esc, then select Mail from the list. See if that helps.

  • How can I list all recipients of an email I have sent?

    Hi there,
I sent an email to 16 people today using Mac Mail v 7.1 (1827) - 1 group of 15 people and another person. I later found out that the single email may have been wrong and I wanted to check it... i.e. did I put gmail.com instead of hotmail.com?
When I clicked on the message in the sent folder, the email came up with the display showing the email address I used to send it (on the top left) and on the top right, the timestamp of when it was sent and just below that, a link with "Hide details".
Clicking on Hide Details DOESN'T actually hide the information !!! it expands with a list of email addresses which in this case was 4 email addresses and a link with 12 more people. Clicking on "12 more" people reverts back to my email address and timestamp.
So in effect, I can't display the email addresses I sent to and the logic of "Hide Details" seems to be working in reverse.
The only way I can check to see to whom I sent the email, is to reply to all recipients, view the TO/CC/BCC fields, and then cancel. But surely, clicking on the "12 more" or however more number of people, should display all the email addresses or am I missing something really obvious?
    Thanks,
    Maz

    Hi Wayne,
    Thanks for your reply.
I tried your suggestion and it still didn't work. I've just done a test email and I've attached the 2 images.
The first image lists a few of the email recipients and N people more and when I click on "N more", I get the second image.
So it's either one or the other I get and no full list of email recipients.
    Thanks,
    Maz

  • How do I restore just Apple Mail (and all its folders & settings) with TM?

    Hi folks,
I was trying to set up an e-mail client on a PC, clicked and unclicked my gmail pop & imap on and off, and when I got home to my Apple MacBook, I had inadvertently reloaded (twice!) every e-mail that I've ever gotten in g-mail to Apple Mail which I use happily at home! No matter what I do, Apple Mail just won't delete the 29,000+ emails. And Mail is hanging, I suspect it just can't handle the massive numbers of e-mails and all the attachments, images, etc.
So I figure I must start from where I was at last Time Machine backup. I want to restore everything about Apple Mail as of my last backup -- all the same folders, saved mail, preferences, etc. How do I restore just Apple Mail but nothing else? Thanks!
    -- Josh

I've never done that, and don't think I've seen any similar posts here. You might want to look in the Mail and Address Book forum at: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1223
Take a look on your system at +<your home folder>/Library/Mail.+ (List view is probably best for this).
You'll see a number of folders for accounts and mailboxes. There are separate folders for each account, and within them for various mailboxes, plus folders for "on my Mac" mailboxes.
With Mail off, of course, I think you should be able to restore either the entire Mail folder, or selected sub-folders within it, via Finder > Time Machine.
After you do that, you may need to use the +Mail > Mailboxes > Rebuild+ option in Mail.
(Do not use the specialized Mail > Time Machine +Recover your <named> Mailbox+ option there, as it will leave the current contents alone, and restore the messages to a new "restored" mailbox.)
Let us know if this helps or hurts.

  • How can I copy-paste text from Firefox to Apple Mail preserving all formatting? It works with Safari but not with Firefox, otherwise I'd pick Firefox

I have a very big list of correspondents to whom I often send articles.
I cannot copy them from Firefox and paste them onto Apple Mail because they look WEIRD and not at all like the original. Most formatting disappears.
I do not encounter the same problem with Safari, and THAT is one of the two reasons I am forced to use it even if it gives me lots of problems.
The other one is that Safari 5 has a built-in RSS reader, which is essential for my work.
If you could manage to have those two things working, I'd pick Firefox in a second and advertise the fact to thousands who would do the same.

Try one of these feed readers if the build-in Firefox reader doesn't suit you.

  • Have multiple email a/cs' but apple mail sending all gmail emails from same account

I have 3 gmail accounts and 2 pop3 a/cs' ( that are piggy backed by the isp to web based/imap email servers) and using Apple Mail.
Emails are correctly received into the correct email address inbox.
However, when I send an email and despite whichever email address I select in the ' From ' box on the Compose page, the emails are always sent from the same email address. This issue only affects the 3 gmail accounts, the other 2 are working ok.
In Mail Prefs I have checked that the box " send new messages from " is marked " account of selected mailbox ".
If I use gmail ' direct ' ( not via apple mail ) emails are sent from the correct account as I obviously have to sign into that particular account.
It's as if I have a default email account from which all emails are sent but the settings seem to be to the contrary.
Appreciative for any help and guidance.

Solved issue by removing the gmail accounts and then reinstating them but giving the name assigned to the server in the description field, the same as the account name ie Gmail followed by email account name ( Mail Prefs > Account Information > Edit SMTP Server List then enter in description field accordingly ).
Though you did'nt actually provide an answer you nevertheless caused me to think further for which I thank you.

  • Apple Mail - "Select All" behaving erratically

When I open an e-mail in Apple Mail and attempt to click on Edit > Select All, occasionally Apple Mail lets me select all, but usually that option is grayed out.
And usually I have to highlight a large portion of the e-mail text before the Select All function will appear in black type (not grayed out). Occasionally, however, I can activate Select All by merely clicking on the message text. Sometimes it will work if I highlight just a line or two.
Is there any way of getting Edit > Select All to work for an entire e-mail - both message body and sender panel - every time, first up?

  • Apple Mail, Fonts all out of Sync

I have been using MS Outlook.com for my e-mail for some time. It works OK but has its limitations.
I have recently started using Apple Mail, with my Outlook.com mail account.
Unfortunately mails look ridiculous - the fonts are all over the place. For example, I receive a mail sent from a business colleague. When I reply, it shows my Reply in 11point, but the sender's mail in 15 point. It obviously wasn't sent in 15 point, but it means that my mail will look horrible when it is received and printed.
I use Outlook at my work and - as you would expect - all mails come in and are responded to at the size they are sent. Most business users use Calibri 11, so when their mails are received they show up as Calibri 11 and when I reply they 'stay' as Calibri 11. But using Apple Mail, that same mail shows up as Calibri 15. Why is this and how can it be fixed?
    Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.
I have, but it doesn't help. When I compose a reply the original message is again showing on my screen as a 15 point font message, which is what it is when I then send my message. That will look awful on the recipient's computer.
I have tested it out by sending a mail to my Outlook mail from my work mail account. My work e-mail account uses Outlook and send mails with a default font and size - Calibri 11. So it should be received in Apple Mail with that font. It appears to be, but when I compose a reply, the message text increases in size to Calibri 15 point, even though my reply is in Calibri 11 point (which is what I have set it to be in Mail/Preferences/Fonts and Colours.
The only way that I have been able to fix this is to manually change the sender's font to Calibri 11 point, and then reply. But that is tedious and I don't want to have to do that every time I reply to a mail. It's easier just to reply by accessing Outlook.com through the internet and working of that.
    Any advice appreciated!

  • Apple Mail: Lost all Mail accounts and emails - after reboot - how to recover?

    Here is what happened:
    upgrade to 10.8.4.
    macbook air froze
    I held down power button
reboot took a looong time ... I nearly thought the little "meter" on the grey screen was stuck. But it finally came through:
I then logged in as usual
    opened Mail
and nearly died, since all my 7 mail-accounts were gone + all emails gone
    except mobile me account
    tried restarting, restart mail.
mail crashed almost immidiately upon opening.
then I did what linc davis said in https://discussions.apple.com/message/22477277?tstart=0#22477277?tstart=0 and mail started anew, and now Mail doesn't crash straight away.
It seemed to import my mobile me mails, but comes up with the "!" sign next to my mobile me account and: "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “MobileMe” or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” on port 143 timed out."
I have verified that username and paswword are correct and saved in preferences.
But anyways; thanks to another post from you elsewhere I have located my 7 mail accounts in subfolders to something called the V2 folder. There are 6 POP accounts each in a folder and one I think is called EWS.
So: How to I restore these POP accounts in Apple Mail and reimport all my (vital) emails from the last two years?
phew, I have loved working in mac OX for as long as I remember ... but this experience, I could have done without.
I really, really hope some genius can help out. Thanks

Mail isn't showing your eMails correctly or what?
Might try this before we restore anything...
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ does not exist.

  • Apple Mail moved all my email from my hotmail account to apple Mail

I have already stopped my new mail in hotmail to get deleated and sent to apple Mail.
I want to know if it's possible to sent the mail that was sent to apple Mail back to my hotmail account
    Thanks

It is usual, but not absolutely necessary, for emails to be downloaded from server to TB mail account Inbox and then delete them off the server.
I personally, delete all but the last 30 days off the server, so that between my monthly backup and the emails on the server, I could retrieve most if not all mail in the event of a loss.
You could get the emails back on the server, but you may notice that all the dates seem to change to the date when you put them back on the server.

  • Can Apple Mail store all attachments in one folder

I have been trying Apple Mail out, and one behavior that I find horribly inefficient is Mail's storing attachments with messages.  In the past I have used applications such as Eudora that had an attachments folder where all attachments were placed.  As long as you left them there or moved them somewhere on the same hard drive, you could click on the attachment in a message and open it.  However, the way I store files is that I usually file the attachments in other folders with other related files.  That way all of my files about a project or topic are all together.  Mail's way would have some files in project folders and other files in Mail's storage folder. So is there a way to have Mail put all of the attachments that come in into a single attachement folder (or even an attachment folder per email account)?  Thanks.

bruce, thanks for your help. I don't have an advanced button under the storage tab. the message storage is below the advanced button, and when I click the advanced button, it doesn't give me any options for message storage. do you think I am missing an ad on that I should have ? thanks and happy thansgiving

  • Yosemite apple mail select all messages in conversation

    It appears that
    Mail/View/Select/All Messages In This Conversation
no longer works. The message list UI appears to indicate there are multiple messages in a conversation (they are highlighted, but not selected), but the above listed menu item is greyed out, and using the keyboard shortcut (cmd-shift-k) does nothing.
Is there a fix for this?
    Ron

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Mail autoselects all recipients when answering an email

When I answer an email in Mail on Mavericks, its hard for me to add additional recipients:
As soon as I select any of the fields To, CC or BCC it almost instantly selects all entries of that field. If I now type in something, it then overwrites those entries.
Oddly, this only is a problem when I answer an existing email. When I create a new one, all works fine.
Does anyone else have that problem?

You can type the email using what you set in preferences and then highlight the text and use command - minus sign (or command - + for larger) to reduce the size of the text.
You can also type command - T and a window will appear allowing you to select fonts/sizes/color/ background highlight.
The above works in Notes also. I haven't tried to do this in any other Apple application.
For incoming emails, you can use the above to reduce font size, but I don't know of a way to permanently set the incoming font size to a default.

  • Apple Mail - "Reply All" bug!?

I have a number of "rules" (being old school I prefer to call them filters) that place any new mail into a designated folder (ie. mail from @apple.com move message to mailbox "Apple").
It used to be that when I did a "reply all" from ANY email, my email address would not be included. Now if I do a "reply all" from my "inbox" no problem but if I do it from a filtered mailbox folder it will add my email address. SO I have to now go threw the 4 or 5 or more email address that may be there and remove my email address. That alone is somewhat anoying but it really becomes anoying in that I am (as most are) a creature of habbit and I always use the keyboard cmd-shift-r.
I have made sure that "Automaticlly Cc myself" is turned off and I have checked to make sure that it is the same on a generic machine... anyone have any ideas how I can turn this "feature" off?! In other words NEVER Cc myself.
