Apple Mail opens and closes right away since migrated to Mavericks

Hello all,
Could you please give me some safe and not too complicated solutions to solve this :
Yesterday I migrated to os x Mavericks => Everything works fine except MAIL application (I work with 1 gmail account)
Problem :  I click the incon, Mail app opens bu closes immediatly followed by an error message saying :
" Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[__NSSetM addObject:]: object cannot be nil'
abort() called
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException ".
For your information, when going to gmail account from the web, the mailbox works. So it doesn't come from Google.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Solution from linc davies - Perfect
Quit Mail.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. Move the following items from the folder that opens to the Trash (some may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.mail
Saved Application State/com.apple.mail.savedState
Application Support/AddressBook/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr
Containers/com.apple.mail
Mail
Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Preferences/com.apple.mail.searchhistory.plist
Note: you are not moving the Mail application. You’re moving a folder named “Mail.”

    Anybody else have this problem?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Photoshop CS6 open then close right away

    Hi all,
My Photoshop (latest version installed) open for a few seconds and then it close right away.
I flushed all the pref files and I also deleted Photoshop and then reinstalled it.
Do you have any idea why it does that? How can i fix it?
    Thank you
    Best regards,

Okay, that skips loading third party plugins, etc.
Try right clicking and use "run as administrator." I have also heard of corrupted printer drivers causing an issue, so make sure those are good. What version of Windows are you using?

  • Iphoto open then closes right away

    HI there,
I upgraded to iphoto 09 last week. Everything with the install went great and was able to open and use iPhoto as normal. Today, I open iPhoto and nothing happens - within 30 seconds it closes. the other ilife apps are OK, I notice in iWeb there is no photos shown. I do have my iPhoto library on an external HD, passport studio because I was running out of memory. Any Idea?
    Thanks for your help!!

hey maclopez! how did you reselect your library? I have the same troubles with iPhoto 09 as you described. I have no idea how to get it working. It opens, freezes and then closes down after awhile. I repaired all permissions and even reinstalled the application but it still doesnt work. I also used Aperture Demo. Maybe it caused the problem with iPhoto? Dunno really.

  • Photo Gallery shows error message when opening and closes right after it

    Hi,
I have Photo Gallery installed on my computer and my photos are in an external hard drive. At the beginning worked well. But today I tried opening Photo Gallery and it shows an error only giving you the option to click "Accept". After you accept
    the error, Photo Gallery closes.
    The error goes as follows:
"One or more folders included in Photo Gallery is offline and is preventing Photo Gallery from starting.
Either remove offline folders from Photo Gallery using Windows Explorer, or make sure that all folders are inline and try starting Photo Gallery again"
Why did this happen and how can I fix this, I tried repairing and uninstall/reinstall Windows Essentials and it didn't work.
    Help please!, thanks!

    Hi,
Consider Windows photo gallery is part of Windows Essentials, we have a better forum to seek help for problems related with that:

I even reinstalled my whole Windows 7 to fix this, and it is still crashing after that. As soon as the PS CC opens, in about 5-10 seconds, it closes.

Of course, I'm register. I used CCleaner for the uninstalation. I try to start with the "control-Alt-shift" key pressed, also unsuccesfull... The most strange is that before Chistmas hollyday, everythinks was working fine. When I came back, on january, it wasn't.

Allright, I uninstall CS6, clean my computer with "Adobe Cleaner" et re-install.Now It's working !

  • Windows 7, Adobe reader starts but closes right away?

Is there a sulotion for this, i am not able to view any of the saved files I have on my computer. When i click on the acrobat file it starts to open but closes right away. I am running windows 7 and can't find any help online. It was working just fine before and i had no troubles up to this point, But i went to open a file today and started having this problem.

The End User License Agreement (eula) tends to "hang" in Windows 7 and it doesn't open as it should. This keeps Reader from opening after an update.
Go to: C/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader    (it may be in Program Files (X86) if your OS is 64 bit)
Double click the eula.exe file and accept the license agreement. Reader should open after that.

Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels.  Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer.  I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation.  I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC.  I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots.  Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes.  Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond.   In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces  (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images.  After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size  images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data.  (I have a screen shot to show this.)  CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong.  I could also send screen shots of this data.
At this point, the only way I can process my images is to work 30-40 minutes and then shut down everything, exit, and re-start LTR.  This is not normal.  I hope you can find the cause, and then the solution.  If you would like to see my screen shots, tell me how to submit them.

I also had this problem. Go to settings> itunes & app store, tap on your apple ID and sign out. Then open itunes store. It should now open.
Then sign back in again and the problem should be resolved

    Try this:

I recently migrated my MacBook from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8, using the Snow Leopard CD I purchased from Apple. Since then I have noticed a strange ozone smell coming from the MacBook in the area where the hinges are to open and close the unit. I was told by Apple that it probably is not serious and is coming from the fans in the MacBook. It is true that the smell/odor is more intense when the fans are working. Apple said I should take the MacBook to an Apple Store to have the hardware checked out. Everything seems to be working correctly. I am backing up automatically wirelessly to a Time Capsule, which I had not done until recently, although I had purchased the Time Capsule in 2009. I have not noticed this odor before. Does anyone suspect something more serious that may be going on?

You may be smelling it because with the new OS the processor is having to work harder causing it to get hotter then it would with the other OS.  I can't say there is nothing wrong, but what could be happening is just that, it's getting hotter so the fan is spinning faster and moving more air so you are getting more of the smell then you would before.  I would still continue to back it up, and take it to the Apple Store at a Genius Bar and have them look at it to make sure.  Was the computer ever in a smoky environment??

I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.

It will not automatically delete any emails; you will need to do that. You may suffer performance  issues in Mail  if you let your mailboxes become too bloated. And, aside from Mail, the files take up a lot of room are photos, videos, and music, so you might want to watch those - every once in a while, check how much hard drive space you have and make sure you empty the trash regularly. Checking your hard drive space: highlight your Macintosh HD icon on the desktop; hit Command  + I and check the total capacity, and how much is left.
