Apple Mail software - email is not displaying in folder

I kept thinking it was something I was doing wrong (and it may still be!).
I have Apple mail (my own domain, not Google's email system)...and my folders are kept in the cloud (Apple's cloud).
Ever since I went to Mavericks when I try and browse through my folders the emails are listed there but clicking on an email does not display its contents. It is a blank screen. My in-box is always fine. But my folders I sort mail into… a list with blank for the individual email's contents.
I read through the forums and the best I could find was that the email folder needed to be rebuilt. But doing so only worked temporarily. If I quit my email and go back in, same problem. And it's also really, really slow in displaying the list.
Very odd.

Figured it out...
Turned out iCloud does not like odd characters in the front of folders.
I had Tildes in front of special folders and folders with older projects and clients.
Once I removed the Tilde everything got a lot better.

Last week I upgraded to Yosemite on a 2013 Mac Air. The upgrade went smoothly, but now I notice that all my mail on my local folders (i.e., not my gmail account) is missing the content of the message. New mail filed after the upgrade displays fine and messages filed prior to the upgrade that were sent from me, display fine, but all mail received and filed before the upgrade is blank except for the header. I tried to move a message thinking it might force Mail to identify a problem...and it does. I have scoured the web for solutions, and there are similar symptoms regarding Apple Mail and IMAP accounts, but my IMAP mailboxes display fine.
I made a TimeMachine back up before the upgrade, so I could restore the old OSX (Mountain Lion) and try again, but I'd love to find an easier solution.

ok now I found a solution:
Navigate to the folder which contains the local mailboxes as MBOX-Files. ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/
Locate the MBOX-file which contains the messages which are not displayed.
In my case I tried to access mails from "Empfangen" and "Gesendet" so I copied over those two MBOX-files to the desktop.
Now go to mail.app and select import message box
In the following context menu select "import files from Apple Mail" (cuz Apple Mail MBOX-files are not standard MBOX format)
Import the content.
After import drag your messages from the imported folder to the original folder.
done!

I can't get my gmail to display on my Macbook Pro Mail 4.5. It appears to be synching and it shows on the top that there are messages but they do not display. It will allow me to send emails but it does not display received emails. Any suggestions?

In Mac OS X Mail some emails are not displaying the correct font size.

I have set my Mail to display email messages (Inbox) to Courier 13 point (easy to read) and most messages are displayed that way, however I often get emails that are displayed in unreadably small and often colored type. I don't understand why this is ... could someone explain how to fix this? Thanx.

The email was probably sent from Outlook as RTF or HTML. You can tell Mail to display those as plain text as well by opening Terminal and typing this command (quit Mail first):
defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
Tap and hold any icon until it wiggles
Press the red to delete the Mail app
Press the home twice button when done.

See if this helps .... Reset the iPad.
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider bar - let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up. Then check your emails.

Some HTML Emails Do Not Display Properly

Recently, some HTML emails do not display properly in Mail. All I see is HTML. Yet, 98% of my HTML emails render properly.
Any thoughts on why this happens with some emails? Is it a Mail issue or are these emails not coded properly?

Could be a combination but since Mail renders 98% of of all HTML messages properly (using Safari as the engine), this indicates it is a coding problem.
I'm not a big fan of using HTML with email since it introduces a number of problems. If everyone used Plain Text for message composition, the majority if not all problems experienced with email would be eliminated.

If an app does not behave as expected, try closing the app completely and reboot the iPad. It appears as though you have the original iPad. It helps if you list your iPad model and the iOS that you are running.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.

Hosted Email pages not displaying correctly

Ive tried searching this forum but didnt have any luck.
My issue is this:
I have a .Mac account and i usually make my newsletters for email in iWeb.
I host it to my server space on .Mac.
It displays correctly in Safari and even when i send it to myself in Mac MAIL.
However, ive just started using an email client so that i can send my html emails to all my database contacts in one go.
Im using iContact for this.
Within iContact i can create an email by simply adding a web adress (pointing to my page on my server)
The problem is that when i send it to a GMAIL, HOTMAIL, YAHOO and probably other email apps besides MAIL...all the email does not display fully.
Images are missing, text is all over the place etc
I cannot figure out what i could be doing wrong.
Any help would be appreciated as im not sure whether this is an iWeb or iContact issue....or just me

Have you sent HTML emails to GMAIL, HOTMAIL and YAHOO accounts successfully before? Are those services capable of handling HTML formatted email? Not all email clients can handle that type of email.

If you want to change your iCloud ID or password on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated information. Note: this only deletes the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts it will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

If you increased the minimum font size then try the default setting 'none' as a high value can cause issues like you described.

I think the problem is the fact that the emails are on a PPC G5 and in a completely different format that your main iMac (you're on Lion?). There is even a problem between SL and Lion; I just spent hours dragging individual mailboxes from a Lion machine to an SL machine. They wound up in the Import section. And, I just tried it: after you manually put the mailboxes in the appropriate spot and you've rebuilt each mailbox once it appears in Mail, I was able to drag an email from an Import mailbox to my Inbox. But, as I said that was between SL and Lion; don't know if that would work with 10.4 (?) and Lion.

All of a sudden, emails are not displaying normally; symbols and numbers are interspersed within words of emails, no graphics, no functioning links within emails on my BlackBerry Curve 8530. Verizon Wireless suggested I upgrade to a different phone. That's helpful.
