Apple Mail *sometimes* not "ringing" when new emails come in
The subject says it all... Why and how could this happen?
I don't know what to recommend. With my MobileMe, accessed in Mail 3.x or 4.x, the new message alert has consistently been silent, but since the feature in not in Mail 2.x, it is not that way on my old G4 running Tiger. With IDLE, in Mail 4.3 for example, the new message indicator in the Dock indexes immediately upon getting a message, whether the other accounts are being checked on the 5 min schedule or not, so Push is working as it is supposed to. I did not find that my Gmail account did that, even when I had IDLE selected, and the alerted sound -- but only when all the accounts are being checked. Reminds me to test that again.
My high use account is not my MobileMe, so hard to judge whether it ever gives the alert sound when the cycle to check for new messages coincides with the arrival of a new message in the Inbox.
My hosted domain IMAP account permit selecting, but they never seem to actually push email.

How to get notify when new Email comes in...
hi, any idea on how to get notify from phone when there is new email comes in to mailbox with specific key words in the subject, says like "urgent" ..... what are the components that i need to integrate with??
messaging version 6.2Hi,
Off the top of my head there are two ways:
1. Use the ENS service to notify when messages arrive - filter out the ones you want. This is going to require some programming and a way to send the notification to the phone.
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2655
2. Use a user-level sieve filter to send a copy of the messages you want to another email address which triggers an SMS.

After Mavericks upgrade Mail 7 not automatically fetching new emails
Hello,
Since the Mavericks upgrade, Mail is not anymore automatically fetching new emails, but at the initial lauch.
I tried to modifity the settings, from 'Automatic', to 5 minute, to 15 minutes, stopping Mail and starting again each time but it does not help.
Emails are fetched only after the lauch of Mail, and when I manually ask Mail to do it.
It's really annoying.
I saw on French forums, that I'm not the only user reporting this, but I don't see many posts on the Apple forum with the exact same issue.
I don't know what to do to fix/find a workround for this problem.
If someone has any idea, I'm more than open to try it.Try this workaround until Apple fixes it.

when i put my icloud id and password at icloud.com a message come checkyour email for instructions on how to veryfiy account.but on my ipad email is not open whAT I DO? plz help me
Check the primary email account associated with the Apple ID you are using to create your iCloud account on your computer. You should see an email from Apple. You need to click the Verify Now link on the email to verify your account. (Be sure to check both your inbox and your spam/junk folder).
If you don't have a computer, add the email account to your iPad by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account. Then use the Mail app to check for the email.
If you don't see the email from Apple, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email. -
Apple Mail 4.6 Crashes when opening email with signature
Everytime I open an email with an attachement and a signature Apple Mail 4.6 for 10.6.8 crashes. Does anybody have a solution for this? I already "Rebuild" my mailbox, and it didn't work.
Any help would be appreciated.

Apple mail inbox not showing all new gmail
When checking gmail through apple mail some mail is showing in archive, some in important, some in other folders, but NOT in the actual inbox itself.
Running Yosemite and all up to date.
Any clues as to why?Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

My Yahoo Mail is not Working on any of my Apple devices, It attempts to download new email but then stops. Any ideas?
I, too, am having a problem with my Yahoo email account on my first generation IPad. I can't download my emails to my IPad from the server. The IPad looks like it's trying to download them but can't do it. I am able to send emails from my IPad with my Yahoo account.
This problem started yesterday, Aug., 25th, the day after I uploaded the last update from Apple. I am able to set up another email account through Sbcglobal that will download my emails to my IPad but it is not sync'ed with my desktop mail which creates a mess when I move or delete emails.
I've tried deleting my Yahoo account and then adding it back. Also I've reset my IPad and I've done a full restore.
I think it has something to do with the last update, which I believe was a security update, which may have reset the firewall. That's just a guess.
Has anyone figures out anything else? -
How do I get Apple Mail to NOT automatically check for new messages?
Under General, I have it set to Manually, under each Gmail account (2) I have UNchecked the "include when automatically checking for new messages" under "Advanced", but it still checks automatically. Are there other settings that effect this behavior? I want it to ONLY check manually.
It seems to be impossible to stop the automatic push - I found another email client that permits me to access gmail via pop3, and that permits several things that Apple Mail is deficient in (as far as I'm concerned) - permits delete of email on Gmail without having it deleted on my laptop, and does not permit autpmatic push. I need access sto ALL my email under MY organization structure on my laptop, even when I do not have internet access, and Apple mail does not permit me to manage things my way (neither does gmail).

Apple Mail clients not retrieving emails properly over IMAP
I posted this in Tiger Mail but no responses; hopefully someone here has some knowledge of this issue.
I'm testing an email server on 10.5 with IMAP.
Here's my setup all using the same user IMAP account.
1 Outlook 2007
1 Thunderbird (on Vista Business)
2 Mail 2.1.3 on 2 different 10.4.11 Apples (one Mac Mini and one MacBook Pro 17")
1 iPhone
When sending emails to this user account, all the non-Apple Mail clients receive them instantly or after I force a 'Send/Receive' command without any problems.
The 2 Apple Mail clients do not receive the new emails on their own OR with 'Get Mail' command OR the 'Synchronize' command. They flat out refuse to receive new emails.
When I close and reopen the Apple mail clients, they do receive the new emails immediately. OR if I select an existing mail message in the view, then they receive the new emails.
Totally weird but definitely an Apple Mail issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated! After trying to isolate every variable, I created a new test account and deleted the existing one I had been using. Problem solved - it works great now!
For some reason, the original user account had some type of corruption. -
I want to change my Apple ID because I have a new email address, but what happens when someone tries to facetime me using my old Apple ID? Will they still be able to contact me on facetime using my old Apple ID?
Not if you change the ID. You would need to give them the new address.

8520 not ringing when in BBM, email, internet
My phone not ringing when in BBM, email, etc
it doesnt even show that an incoming call is coming in. I only know when a call has happened when I get the sms from my service provider, can anyone help me with these settings. I have only had a Bberry for 2 weeks and rather new to it.
Thanks KeithHello,
Have you tried removing your battery to restart your BlackBerry smartphone and then test. Also make sure you are able to make outbound calls as well.
Thank you.
