Apple Mail to i photo

Apple mail App unable to send photo attachments direct to iphoto   since  upgrade to mountain lion. Anyone have this problem and can find solution?

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Mountain Lion. There's a Mountain Lion Support Community where everybody has Mountain Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mountain_lion

When we attach photos to an email in the Apple Mail app, the photos appear tiny on gmail accounts. They are unable to download the file as the size sent. We have tested this in multiple gmail accounts and we have tried sending as different sizes and actual size with no difference. Other photos attached in other ways come through fine. This seems to be a a result of the recent iphotos to photos app update.
Please advise on if this is a bug with how mail is ending the photos or how gmail is receiving them.

Try using Mail as the email client for iPhoto and see if that will fix the problem:

  • How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Mail, without the photos appearing within the email?s

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email?  If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

  • Apple Mail, Photo Browser, Attachments and Yosemite

    OK,
    Help.
Anytime I want to insert a photo from my iPhoto Library into Apple Mail via Photo Browser in  Yosemite Mail, it crashes.
My preferred method - Via add attachments - Finder/Pictures/Iphoto library doesn't work anymore. It now says Open iPhoto library.
Why does Apple change these things without like checking them out?
Anyone have an advice. I think Yosemite is pretty half baked. I'm a computer consultant and this is the worst release for customers since Leopard.

Post the first 50 lines of the Mail crash report and the lines for the crashed thread.
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
Note:  Since it's Mail that's crashing it's not an iPhoto problem but a Mail/System one.
Log into another user account on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists there.  If it does then it's a system wide issue. If not it's an account issue.
Download and run Etrecheck.  Copy and paste the results into your reply. It's a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC to help identify some of the more obvious culprits.

  • Attaching photos to Apple Mail - error when attaching multiple files

    Hello,
My iPhoto just recently started giving me an error whenever I try to attach multiple files to Apple Mail. The error says:
"Mail got an error: Can't get paragraph 8 of
content of outgoing message id 321072192.
    Invalid index."
The only option allowed is to cancel. When I look at my Apple Mail it has created a message with the first selected photo attached, but none of the other photos are there. Any ideas of how to correct this? Is this an email client issue?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
This is a problem between iPhoto 4 and 10.5.
The workaround is to use the Photo Browser on the new Message Window in Mail, just drag the pic over from there:

  • How do I put a recent photo on my Apple Mail email program?

    I am using OS 10.3.9
This question is for Apple MAIL email program and the emails that I send from my Desktop, not from the .Mac site.
Several years ago I did what was necessary to have my photo put automatically on each outgoing email that I send. (I realize that not everyone can see that photo; that is not the problem.)
PROBLEM: I now have more recent photos and would like to take off the old photo and replace it with a more recent photo but I forgot the procedure for doing this and can find it nowhere!
Please, can someone write down the steps that I must go through to take off the old photo and replace it with a new photo?
    Lorna

Dear Mulder — I went to the Help and found the following instructions:
"If someone using a .Mac mail account sets up his or her account to share pictures, when you view a message from that person in Mail you'll see the shared picture. The picture is not sent in the message itself; instead, when you view the message, Mail looks for the picture on the .Mac server. You can only view shared pictures from a .Mac account using Mail and webmail.mac.com."
However: Although I belong to .Mac and do have a .Mac email address, I rarely use webmail.mac.com. Any mail that goes there (almost nothing at all) gets forwarded to my Desktop email account. I use the Apple Mail program on my Desktop, not at the website. Would the the picture be visible then? If I send an email to myself I do see the photo... but am I the only one seeing it?

  • How to add a photo to Apple Mail signature...? (he asks laughably)

Since the sender's Address Book photo is not included with emails sent
(even 'though Apple Mail makes it look like they are),
how can you add a personal photo to a Mail signature?
OR, is there another means of including a personal photo with every email sent?
**** How many people have asked for this feature / capability?  More than 10,000?
    Thx.

How many people have asked for this feature / capability?  More than 10,000?
As a matter of fact I have never seen it mentioned before. Perhaps only a few people need such an ego-trip every time they send an email.
The normal way is to add a photo within the text or as an attachment. The Signature only handles thumbnails.
But you can send your suggestion to Apple via their feedback link:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
It will be read but you will not receive a reply.

  • How do I not automatically download photos in Apple Mail?

How do I not autmatically download photos when I open Apple Mail. I lve on a boat and internet by the satellite gets expensive. I would like to know how to turn off automatic photo downloads.

Check with your email provider.  Blocking images is a function they usually can provide.
    Example from Verizon Mail Setup:

  • Dropping a photo from iPhoto an Apple Mail stationary pane placeholder

With regard to Apple Mail and the stationary pane templates, why is that sometimes I can drop a picture in from iPhoto in the placeholder, and other times I cannot? Sometimes some photos will work and others won't. Other times no photos will work. And still other times all photos work. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to when it works and when it doesn't. What am I doing wrong?

Next time that happens check to see if you can drag the photo to the Desktop from iPhoto.  You can try repairing the permissions in the library via iPhoto as follows:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - apply option #1.

  • Attaching an iPhoto Photo to Apple Mail

    Am I missing something???
When I want to send an email with a photo in Apple Mail, how can I find the photo from my iphoto library/event?
It appears that when I go to look for the photo I want to attach, that I cannot find it within the iPhoto event.
Yes, I am very aware that I could export the photo, but is it possible to find it within me iPhoto event library???
I hope this is possible. Makes no sense if this is NOT possible.
    Thx

Sure - use the media browser - look in the lower left hand corner of the attach window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto --  <a href="http://web.me.com/larryhn/iPhoto_08_(version_7.x.x)_FAQ/Accessing_iPhoto_Photos. html"> click here for a discussion on the many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto library photos.</a>

  • Emailing Photos Hangs at "Resizing" in Apple Mail

I noticed this morning that, if I try to email a group of photos from Aperture (using Share --> Email) with Apple Mail as my email client, Mail will hang and show "Resizing ####.jpg" in the status bar (with ### representing the file name).  If I mail the photos individually, or in smaller groups, I don't get this message and Mail functions normally. I first noticed this when I tried to send 10 photos in the same email.  When Apple Mail hangs with the "...resizing..." status, it's really hung...I have to Force Quit the Mail application.
I never saw this behavior in iPhoto (I've just started using Aperture) and am wondering if this is an Aperture problem.
I'm running the latest version of Aperture on a brand new iMac 27" with 16GB of RAM. The photos I'm sending were taken with my camera set to Raw, and I'm sending processed versions of them.
    Has anyone seen this behavior?

I don't normally reply to my own posts, but thought I should in this case....
I missed this when I searched before, but this problem has been around for a while, I guess.  The newest thread in this linked discussion is November:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4153083?start=0&tstart=0
I've submitted a bug report to Apple.

All of sudden my Apple Mail won't transfer photos from Mail to iPhoto using the "add to iPhoto" feature in the drop down menu. Do you know how to fix this?

mmchisholm - just so you know you're not alone, I too am having the exact same issue as of latest software update bundle. Have to manually add each photo until Apple issues solution or minor software update.

  • Apple Mail Photo Attachments

I sent email to two Widows users and one Mac user that contained photos. Neither of the Windows users could see the photos but the Mac user did. I sent the photos 2 ways, the first by pasting into the main body of the message and the second as an attachment. Neither method worked for the Windows users. The photos were jpg and the names contained the jpg extension. (Actually, the first time, the pasted graphics were converted to tiff). Under Edit > Attachments, "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" is checked.
I never had this problem with Entourage. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll give that a try. But, in the meantime, what is the explanation? The Mac recipient had no problem, only the Windows users.
Using Entourage, I would have to format the message as html in order to send pasted photos, but I never had a problem like this. Even the attachments did not work with Apple Mail.
