  • Export Apple mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac

    Hi everyone,
    I don't like the serie Mail/iCal/Carnet d'adresses from Apple, reason why I bought Outlook 2011 for Mac.
    I succeed transferring all my contacts to Outlook.
    I try now to transfer all my mails with their categories to Outlook too but I don't succeed.  I read some discussions on this forum but they are obsolete as they were with snowLeopard and Outlook 2011.  Would someone have good news for me and find a way to transfer all the mails with their categories from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac ?
    It would be nice and to receive a positive answer.
    Thank you for your help

    INFORMATION on Emailchemy from another Forum
    I’ve found a way in which you can import Apple Mail into Outlook 2011 on Mac OS X Lion.
    The software I’m running is Mac OS X 10.7.2 on a 2011 MacBook Pro.
    You need to purchase an app called Emailchemy. It’s 29.99 for an individual license, and 49.99 for a family license. There are enterprise versions available as well.
    Once you run the app, you need to do the following:
    1. Export all mailboxes from Apple Mail to your desktop (or any other suitable location on your computer). You do this by selecting the mailbox, and then clicking on “Mailbox”, and then “Export Mailbox”. Save the destination, and the file is saved automatically.
    2. Then you open Emailchemy and do the following:
    - click on “toolbox” in the bottom left hand corner
    - click on the second box on the top left hand called “advanced email conversion”
    - click on “add file”
    - select the folder (s) you just exported from Apple Mail (e.g. Inbox.mbox)
    Now here comes the trick
    - select format “apple mail 1.0 in the format option at the bottom
    - then 3 sub-folders will appear “info-p.list”, “mbox” and “table of contents”
    Select “mbox”
    - click on “convert” and choose a save file name. Choose the format “MBOX file (standard mbox)”
    - click on save
    And you then have a folder created which Outlook 2011 recognizes and can import.
    I just imported all my Apple Mail into Outlook 2011 – it works really well too – the formatting, attachments, etc are all there!
    Hope this helps.

  • Convert mails from apple mail to outlook for mac 2011

    Hello,
    need to convert mails from apple mail to outlook for mac 2011. have gone through Imap procedure and am tired of transferring mails manually coz there are thousands of'em. can anyone suggest any simple solution to this problem?
    thanks.

    Create a IMAP account (GMAIL icloud etc.)
    add account to Apple mail and Outlook 2011
    Drag emails into a folder on the imap server and then go back to Outlook 2011 and drag the emails from the imap into your email. and your done all your emails
    are there.
    There are third party tools available now-a-days for this kind of problems and they are pretty useful. You have just to select the files from the apple mail
    that you want to convert and your mails are transferred within no time.

  • Export Apple Mail to Outlook

    Just set up my new MBP17 with Boot Camp and now I need to move my old mail over to the dark side and get it into Outlook. I've got the address book over already, just need to move messages. Tried to do this via Eudora or MailSmith but can't even get the messages from Mac Mail to Mac Eudora, so I'm stuck. Any ideas?

  • Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 email migration

    I recently decided to shift from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 because i was not very fond of the preferences used by Apple Mail.
    However, it was later on that i realized the migration process from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 wasn't as easy as i thought i would be.
    Now i urgently need to get my important emails transferred, how do i go about it.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hey David,
    So it would become easier for me to answer your question if you answered any of the following queries-
    Do you have:
    Any IMAP accounts?
    Any Exchange accounts?
    Any POP accounts?
    Any email stored locally ("On my Mac")?

    Is there a way to move saved emails in folder on apple mail to outlook for MAC  Thanks Randall.

    Hi,
    I take it you meant export from apple mail.
    If so there is no export option available... Unless I'm looking in the wrong spot, have a import option for apple mail but no export.
    Cheers

  • Differences between Apple Mail and Outlook using EWS

    I know that this issue has been beat to death, so I'm requesting some very specific information to help with troubleshooting. My work has an uncooperative IT department that has indicated if I do the research myself, they will see if they can fix whatever settings are off in Exchange.
    Details:
    I'm using 10.9.3 and trying to connect to an Exchange 2010 server. When using Outlook 2011, everything works perfectly, when using ActiveSync on iPhones and iPads, everything works perfectly, but everything fails when using Apple Mail.
    When using AutoDiscover with Apple Mail, it sets both internal and external servers to webmail.domain.edu, which ends up not working. After some looking around, I set the internal server to xxx-xxx-xxx-02.domain.edu and it starts working perfectly, as long as I'm accessing from within the network. Accessing outside the network results in errors.
    Connecting to the Exchange server from my school works perfectly.
    So my question boils to: What Exchange Server 2010 or EWS settings may make it possible for Outlook 2011 to easily access anywhere, but Apple Mail to fail when AutoDiscover is used anywhere and fail when manual server information is entered and attempted to access outside the network? Absolutely any leads would be appreciated.
    I've run Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer and it's worked perfectly.
    Relevant log portions from failures (with certain information scrubbed)
    When AutoDiscover is used:
    <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006>
        <Response>
            <Error Time="11:10:44.4955481" Id="1505556818">
                <ErrorCode>600</ErrorCode>
                <Message>Invalid Request</Message>
                <DebugData/>
            </Error>
        </Response>
    </Autodiscover>
    When internal server is manually entered and attempted to access outside the network (works inside the network)
    2014-06-02 11:08:29.641 Mail[8898:9303] EXCHANGE -[SOAPRequest:0x7fe52f462c10 connection:didFailWithError:] https://domain%[email protected]/EWS/Exchange.asmx//domain%[email protected]/EWS/Exchange.asmx ERROR
    NSURLErrorDomain -1003 A server with the specified hostname could not be found.
    I'd love any brainstorming thoughts. Anything that could help me would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    We are running Exchange 2013 here with auto discovery enabled.  We have checked all the MS documentation and our auto discovery is stop correctly, auto discovery does work as the internal server is discovered however as the first post describes email isn't working with outside the internal network without a VPN connected.  One of the guys is leaning towards it being a TLS issue but could just be a stab in the dark.  I've got 3 people from our IT department as well as myself looking into the issue and if we find out what is actually going on, I'll post.

  • Revert back to Apple mail from Outlook 2011

    I migrated my PST file from Outlook 2010 to the Mac Outlook 2011. In doing so I have discovered that the synching does not work. Is there any way to move my Outlook 2011 back to Apple mail and still retain my folders and emails? I have data that is several years old and need to retain the information. I'm not as concerned about the calendar as I use a 3rd party calendar program. Using Outlook 2011, my contacts and notes do not sync and from what I understand there is no immediate fix. Any thought would be appreciated!

    I want to know the easiest way to transfer emails from Ms outlook 2011 to apple mail.
    I am stuck in this situation from a very long time and haven't found any solution yet.
    Do not want to opt for Imap transfer coz a have thousands of mails to transfer.
    Please provide me some smart and easy solutions.
    Thanks in advance.
    You need to have information about the process to get mbox files from olm files which can be easily accessed over apple platform.
    For This you can check this blog, if it can help you:

  • Email sent from Apple Mail to Outlook, recipient gets 2 versions

    When I send an email from Apple Mail to my Outlook Express and open it in Outlook it shows two versions of the email. First is formatted the way I sent it (Rich Text) and then below that is the same message in Plain Text with an line (HR) between them.
    I don't see any settings in either Mail or Outlook to change this. Only time it doesn't happen is if I send it as Plain Text to begin with.
    (ps. read as Plain Text is not selected in Outlook)

    You are typically "the man" on such issues, but I believe Apple has said some place that their RTF is only a subset of HTML? I know it gets converted to HTML like encoding, but did not think it is full HTML?
    It's true that when composing in Mail you only have access to those parts of html that Apple has provided an interface for, so there are various html things you cannot do. But those things you can do, like choose the font, font size, font color, etc. are done with standard html codes, the Content-Type header of a "rich text" message says "text/html", and the message source starts out with the codes < html > < head > < body > like any other html message would.

  • Which is better, Apple Mail or Outlook?

    I've been happily using Outlook for quite some time for a couple of reasons.  One, when I migrated from PC, I was using Outlook, so I continued with it on the Mac.  Two, it did some things better than Mail, like messages with pictures and particular text more often looked as I intended on other people's computers, Mac or PC, while emails sent from Mail often changed the font or took the pictures out of the body of the email and simply added them as attachments.  So I felt that Outlook was friendlier and more logical and I actually prefer the look of it.
    Only thing is, Outlook no longer syncs with my Mac address book.  I need that because it syncs with my Iphone and it syncs over Icloud across all my devices.  So now, when I want to add an email address from Outlook to my Address Book, I need to copy and paste and it's just a bit of a hassle.  This made me wonder if it was time to move to Apple's Mail program.  So I wonder if there are people who have used both, particularly the latest version of both, and have views about what is good or bad about each of them.
    For me, the Apple Mail app seems better intergrated on the Mac (no surprise there), but I notice, for instance, that a picture attached to an email in Outlook shows the file as an attachment, while in Mail, it doesn't, but instead displays it in the body of the email.  You can't see the name of the file, just an icon of a paperclip.  Maybe no big deal, but a bit odd to hide the file.
    In Mail, it appears that you can't organize each folder of email as you like it.  The organisation is universal across all folders.  Change the setting in Inbox and it changes in all of the folders.  Maybe that doesn't matter, but it seems an odd restriction.
    Anyway, it's a bit pain to make a whole move, so I wanted to get some feedback from people who have used both.  I have no issue with using a Microsoft product if it's the right one for me, so this isn't about Mac vs. PC, just about the relative merits of both apps.
    Thanks!

    Since you have a tab2, obviously you think it's better than an iPad 2. If the reviews say the iPad 2 is better, are you going to return the tab2?
     Cheers, Tom

  • About Ready to Ditch Apple Mail for Outlook

    I've been using Apple Mail for several years with no issues.  Suddenly that has changed.  A few weeks ago I noticed I am unable to rename Mailboxes that I've created in the past (i.e., I rename them and get an error message).  I posted a separate question about that on February 23, 2012 and have had no comments or responses to that post.
    Yesterday I did two things in Mail:
    Created a new mailbox named 2012 HOUSTON, and
    Dragged about 3 mailboxes to put them in a different order than they appeared
    This morning I received an email I wanted to put into the 2012 HOUSTON folder.......and it was GONE.  Completely gone.  I did a search for the email I placed in that folder yesterday and it also was gone.  Also, one of the other folders I had reordered had returned to its previous position near the bottom of the mailboxes.
    This is unacceptable behavior for Mail and I can't find any solution.  I am a hair's breadth away from moving to Outlook, something I've resisted for a long time because Entourage (Microstop's old email program) was so buggy, and having been a Mac user since 1988 I do my utmost to use Apple products.
    HELP, ANYONE!!!

    Okay, now you're confusing me. Me.com is IMAP mail and there is no setting as you described unless you set it up for POP3.

    Click Import messages from an MBOX-format text file, and then click the right arrow.
    Follow the instructions.
    Sorry pal but this method of yours also didn't work. The files that i need to import are greyed out and cannot be selected. I tried this method saveral times but the result was the same.
    Well I was hoping if you can suggest me any software that could help me with this type of problem. Because i have looked into similar kind of queries and there some softwares are recommended.
