Apple Mail weird error when trying to trash email

Last week I was making space on my hard drive by deleting a lot of messages and then emptying the trash. The mail program became sluggish. the next day I tried to delete more emails and started getting this message.
“114606.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists.
I've been using macs for years. I've never seen a message like this. I am unable to move most emails to the trash so they're piling up in my inbox. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Really weird error when trying to install 7.7 on vista

i have googled this, and searched this and nothing seems to come up. i get an error that says
"error writing to file: C:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device\support\etc\zoneinfor\europe\amsterdam"
im downloading itunes straight from apple. so i dont know what this europe business is. also, ive done the whole, delete temp files, run as admin, turn off norton etc.
what is the deal?

I had same problem when trying to upgrade 7.2.
I first used Software Update which downloaded three pkgs.
AppleMobileDeviceSupport
iTunesAccess
iTunesX.
Running ItunesX gave same error as you.
What I then tried was to download from Apple iTunes downloads directly:-

Running iTunes 7.3.mpkg installed all three modules, and ITunes 7.3.0 runs OK.
However with 7.3.1 now out the same problem exists.
So I will try the direct download again.

Mail delivery error when trying to send document to hpeprint. I know the email address is correct

I just got the HP8600. I set up eprint according to the instructions. When I email a document to the printer, I get a Mail Delivery error:
This message was created automatically by the mail system (ecelerity).
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
>>> [email protected] (reading confirmation): 550 5.7.1 Command
>>> rejected
I know the email address is correct. I don't know what to do to get this to work.

The Q.com provider seems to have issues sending to our servers for some reason. Other email providers will work fine like you've found with your gmail account. The best workaround at this time is to send from your gmail account if possible.

Why do I get an error when trying to send email?

When I try to email a photo directly from iPhoto, I get an error message that tells me that server is unable to identify email name and password. WHY?
I verified and email address and password are correct>
Also, I have listed to email addresses on my MAC a Gmail address and a Comcast (other) account, but when I click on stamp for email on my desktop it opens both mailboxes in one place. Is there a way to separate them.
Any answer and help provided will be greatly appreciarted.

Have you ever tried to access email via your iPhone in the past with this service? Has it ever worked? I'm looking at their support page and cannot find any information regarding access via a mobile device. I'm wondering since it is a satellite service that you cannot access their domain from cellular service. I'm not positive, but a search of their support page is not yielding much information.
Also, the incoming server is not your problem. It is the outgoing server or SMTP. According to the settings, it should be smtp.everyone.net. It does not use SSL for the outgoing server, and the username is your entire email address and then your password.
You should be able to use the information for the Mac mail that I found in this link. http://www.skybeam.com/support/helpful-guides/email-support/mac-mail/ If that doesn't work, I would call their support phone number and ask about using their mail on a mobile device.

Mail Shuts Down when trying to Open Email with movie

Just recently Mail is shutting down when I try to open an email with attached movie. When I mail again, the email is still there with the blue dot.
I found one document suggesting a Java..Cocoa plug in may be the culprit but no luck.
Any ideas?

Mail app closes when trying to send email

I can receive mail ok, but when I try to send, it just closes the mail app and goes back to the home page.
Any suggestions how I can get the mail app working properly again?

Ah, yes... a common problem. Relaying is when you are using email service A to send mail through, but your "from" address is another service. Service A, if it's set up for this, will reject your email because you are trying to relay the email through them from an email address that is not theirs. This is to prevent spammers from using their service even though they don't have an account with them.
I suspect the service you are sending to is one on which you have a valid account, but you're sending "from" another address. In such cases the relaying service may allow you to specify, in your email settings, your account and password, in which case it will accept your email and pass it through.

Apple mail strips text when displaying an incoming email

I receive emails associated with a club I belong to from an email reflector. Club members send emails to the reflector and the reflector resends the email to each club member including me of course
This works fine so long as the email to (and from) the reflector contains either only text or only an attachment (as in a photograph). However if the distributed email contains both text and a photo Apple Mail is unwilling to display the text ... only the photograph appears. Which as you might well imagine is rather annoying.
So how do I know that the email is displayed with the accompanying text stripped away? Well if I look at the raw source (View --> Message --> Raw Source) I see the following:

I changed the text to protect the identify of the sender. In Apple Mail all I see is the picture (IMG_0918.JPG) and all the text that goes with it is missing.
From what I can tell from comments on the reflector, some other email clients exhibit the same problem (they also strip the text) while others do not. So maybe the email is not being formatting properly by the reflector. That could be. But files on the web have mal-formed HTML all the time, yet browsers deal with the mal-formed HTML without stripping the text away as seems to be the case here.
It seems to be that Apple Mail sould be able to display the text which in contained in the raw source.
Any solution (other that looking at these email in raw source to read thei missing textual contentt)? If an Apple employee is reading this maybe you could pass this along to whoever is prosponsible for keeping track of Apple Mail bugs.

I design and code a lot of HTML emails, and plain text remains an important feature for many clients.
This seems to be a recent change to Mac Mail. Previously, there was an option under View --> Message to show the plain text alternative.

Weird error when trying to empty the trash

Recently, at times when I try and empty the trash I am getting this error:
The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items cannot be found.
(Error code -43).
It doesn't happen all the time and it isn't consistent. The only thing that has changed recently is I did need to take it into the Genius Bar and have them replace the power supply, but I highly doubt that has anything to do with it. Any help greatly appreciated.

Weird Error when trying to delete a flickr album

I tried to delete a linked flickr album created through aperture but got this error. No reaction when I click either button, I forced a quit and then tried to delete it again but the same thing happened.
What should I do to delete the album?

That's not an error message that you've posted - that's a dialog box asking you to confirm your deletion request. (Potentially 'saving you from yourself'.)
That aside, the issue is that you can't actually carry out the deletion. A stuck object like this is possibly a good reason to run some [Library First Aid|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805]...
Or... Have you done any independent album management over at Flickr? If you have, that might have broken the connection between Flickr and Aperture leading to this issue.
Or... Is your software (operating system and Aperture) fully patched?

Cause: A generic protocol adapter error occurred.
Action: Check addresses used for propel protocol specification. Before reposting this error, look at the error stack and check for lower level transport errors. For further detais, turn on tracing and reexecute the operation. Turn off tracing when the operation is complete.
RME-00220: Failed to connect to Repository
Cause: The msg file 'c:\oracle\product\oracle10gds\repadm61\meplus.msg' for product "RMMSGS61", utility "RME" could not be found.
I believe it is important to declare that I have installed Developer Suite 10g afeter the database 10g and this problem happens only wit Designer... All other packages JDeveloper and the others for instance work with no problem at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much indeed...

Help!! Weird error when trying to download ipod

After saving for months, my daughter finally got an ipod almost 2 weeks ago and can't use it! After I insert the CD, the download starts and then I get the following message: Error applying transforms. Verify that the specifed transform paths are valid. C:\WINNT\Downloaded Installations\(29f66148-21cf-4c5). I am clueless when it comes to computers and have absolutely no idea what to do. I would appreciate any help

Helen, instead of using the CD just download the required software from the links below.
Install iTunes first, then the iPod Updater.
Then run the Updater (Start - Programs - iPod), and only connect her mini when it tells you to. Choose the Restore option, then follow the instructions from there to finish the process and register the iPod.
After this she should be up and running.

E mail error when trying to send email

I have an application that I want to send an email alert when there is an alarm condition. I have an email VI that works when run outside of my application. When I try to have my application load the VI into a form and run I get the following error:
Error 26: occured at set cursor icon (icon pict).vi

Weird error when trying to log in

After an incredible support from an user I was able to install Developer Suite 10g. However when I try to perform this action suggested:
Part 2: Steps to setup Designer 10g
Time Taken: 30 minutes to 60 minutes depending on the speed of your PCâs CPU
1. Login SQL Plus as âSYSâ with password and connect string of âorcl as sysdbaâ
The software responds with the following message:
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:nÃ£o foi possÃvel resolver nome de serviÃ§o
Translating from Portuguese it would be:
TNS:it was not possible to resolve this service name
In addition I simply do not know how to do the following activity in PL*SQL:
Login SQL Plus as âSYSâ with password and connect string of âorcl as sysdbaâ
I have no idea where to put the connect string because the PL*SQL does not have any such option when logging in (Windows XP Professional) Please let me know how to solve this problem. Thank you very much indeed...

each oracle installation modifies the PATH variable, your PATH variable should contain something like C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\bin and C:\oracle\product\<..DeveloperSuite..>\bin (don't know, where DevSuite is installed).
It is installed in c:\oracle\product\Oracle10gDS
It's important, what's comes first, because it determines your current ORACLE_HOME and , for example, which tnsnames.ora is used.
Very interesting and important however I cannot find ORACLE_HOME anywhere in the System Properties/Environment Variables window (both parts of it: user variables and system variables). The only thing I can find the oracle word is in the PATH variable. Its value is depicted below:

Perhaps it is somewhere else because I can login in the system and use everything except Designer
Normally there's no need to define explicitly ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID in Windows, you have to set ORACLE_SID only, if you are in the 'wrong' ORACLE_HOME (DevSuite home, not database home, for example) and you want to connect without @<connect_identifier> (for example, @phd).
What to set the ORACLE_SID if it is the software itself that sets it up and it is nowhere in the evironents variable section? I usually connect with as my username without any @<connect_identifier>. I hope the above explains a little better the current status... Thank you.
