Apple Mail won't send

a few weeks ago i upgraded from an eMac/panther to mini/Tiger. mail has worked fine. my router died and i had to get a new one. Mail stopped sending. I can send from Thunderbird but not Mail. Receiving mail is fine.
i checked and double checked my account settings in Apple Mail. i tried it without authentication and with authentication. no go.
what could be going on?

Its been a month now that I am using Mail 2.0.7 (should i upgrade to latest version?). I have not changed my router or done any hardware switch at all and Mail stopped sending my mail. I tried changing my account password and settings, I tried quitting Mail, restarting the computer many times, nothing makes Mail send my mail since the last 2 weeks.
I had this problem before too ( one week after starting using Mail) but for some reasons, all my messages kept in my Outbox also for a good two weeks have finally been sent.
I was with port 25 in my SMTP setting when using Microsoft Entourage as my main email client before so i kept this setting. Should I use another Port like the one suggested earlier in the thread?
Thanks for your help! I just hope Mail works better with my information than Entourage has in the previous years for me.

  • Apple Mail won't send invitations when initially closed

I just started using iCal to send invitations for appointments through Apple Mail. When Apple Mail is opened already when I create the appointment and click Send in iCal, it works fine. The mail is sent and delivered to the appropriate address.
But if Apple Mail is closed initially, the application starts and the invitation is queued up in the Outbox but is never sent. I can manually open up each invitation in Mail and send them individually, but why is the behavior different? Whether Mail is opened or closed when I send an invitation, it ought to deliver the invitation automatically. By not being sent, I may not realize the invitation hasn't been delivered, making the process very error-prone. Is there a way to guarantee the invitation actually gets sent without having to check the Outbox every time?
Is this an iCal bug or an Apple Mail bug? I saw no settings in Apple Mail for sending messages at shutdown or any other setting like this. Instead, these invitations may end up being buried in my Outbox for a very long time before I notice and by then, it may be too late.

Since I bought a new modem/router (Netgear n600), my Apple mail won't send e-mails. It will receive. My ISP is AT&T & the email accounts are via yahoo. I have a Macbook Pro with a recent OSX.
The most recent OS is currently OS 10.8.3.  Your system profile confirms you are still using Mac OS X (10.7.5).  If this is incorrect, please correct your profile so that you will get the correct troubleshooting suggestions/solutions.
Also, post in the OS/Mail forum of whichever OS is currently installed on your MBP.  It's where the OS/Mail expert helpers hang out at.

  • Apple Mail won't send or receive iCloud mail.

iCloud Mail is not working. I'm using OSX 10.4.11 and was under the impression that Mail would work, but it is not. I'm trying to use Apple Mail to send and receive mail with my mac.com email address and it has not worked since switching to iCloud. Do I need to change something in Mail Preferences? Can't find anything relevant on Apple Support.

I'm bumping this up to the top because I am having the same exact problem.
I have had my new Mac since Dec. and have never been able to use my Mac Mail account. I can only use my Verizon account, which I don't like. I had a PC before the Mac and used Outlook Express, which I did like but I would really like to find out why my MAIL account won't send email. I have fooled with this problem and at one time I did get it so that it would receive mail (but not send) but even now I can no longer receive mail in my MAIL account.
I wonder if I can delete the account and start over? I'm wondering if my daughter set it up incorrectly when she set my computer up for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

993 is the wrong port, choose 'Use Default Ports" as shown below

  • Apple Mail won't send outgoing messages

I recently had my computer sent in for repairs and when i got it back I had to set-up mail again. Before I sent it out mail was working perfectly but now after setting it up the exact same way it won't sent any outgoing messages. When I send them they go straight to the outbox. I am using Tiger 10.4.10

Sorry, but you are posting in the Mail for Leopard discussion. You'll probably get better help in the Mail for Tiger discussion.

  • Mail won't send to Yahoo Japan

When I try to email my boyfriends PC, Apple mail will not send the message. It tells me to ensure I have entered the address in correctly, which it is, but it will never send the email.
His PC address ends with @yahoo.ne.jp
but I can email his phone address, which is @d8.dion.ne.jp
Anyone know why Apple mail won't send to yahoo?

For some reason, Mail prevents sending to multiple
addresses (if they're in a group) if you've indicated
in "preferences" (under "composing") that you do not
want addressees' names to be shown in the "to" field.
The only way to send to a group is to allow the names
    to be shown.
I, and others, have mentioned this ever since Mail
arrived. Apple has not yet fixed the
    bug.
This royally bites! I had this same problem before, and was told that by upgrading to Mail 2, (Tiger), it would fix this!
I sure as heck don't want all the names listed, that is very unprofessional.
Will it work if the addresses are "shown", but are in the BCC window?

  • Mail won't send mail when in wireless mode but works fine when wired

Ok, this happens all the time. I have several pop email accounts, all of which work fine when I am hooked in to an ethernet cable, but Apple Mail won't send any of my outgoing mail form any of my accounts when i'm am working wirelessly.
I always get a message like:
Cannot send message using server smtp.name.net
I try to switch servers and I cycle through all of them, getting them same message, followed by things like:
The server response was: 5.1.2 Bad or missing RCPT domain k39sm5757680wah
    Any advice.

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
You may use “network locations” to more easily switch between network settings if necessary, as described here:
Using network locations in Mac OS X

Mail won't send but Connection Doctor says smtp account OK.
I can receive mail but can't send it from Mail 3.5. Same problem on a wired G5 and on a wi-fi MacBook (using the same account), so not hardware related. Worked fine 'till today - I didn't change anything in between times. Incoming mail no problem. Tried mail rebuild, keychain first aid, deleting the account, repair disk permission - doesn't help.
Mail's connection doctor says "smpt.xxxxxx - connection to server succeeded, no login required."
    Anybody any ideas? Thanks, N

Been having the same problem for a few weeks now. This has been working just fine, and all of a sudden - nothing. The update to 10.5.6 didn't do anything to fix this either.
I've spent numerous hours on the phone with the Apple support. Seeing as the two other accounts that I have configured work with no problem, they say that this is a problem with the provider which is also the ISP. I then called the support line for the ISP and informed them of this and they say that it's a problem with the software.
Interestingly, if I send a message to somone with the same ISP, the message will go. But I can't send a message outside of the provider. Does anyone else have this problem?
Also, from another forum, they suggested rebuilding the LaunchServices database. The Apple support didn't see what that would do. But I tried it anyway and the problem still exists.
Another intesting thing is certificates. It's only happened twice, but I've received the message saying that Mail can't verify the certificate XXXXX which validates the identity of the smtp. Anyone else get this? I thought perhaps I could delete the certificate and it would magically reappear. But when I go into KeyChain, the certificate is listed only under System Root and I can't delete it.
    ideas?

  • My mail won't send...

    Hi,
My mail won't send on my laptop.  There is spinning next to "Send" but the message remains in the outbox.
I deleted and readded all email accounts.  This did not solve the problem.
I started a chat with Apple Express support and they said that Lion doesn't support Apple mail so they couldn't help.
    I can send via webmail.
    I can receive mail.
One error message I receive after it has tried to send the message for awhile is:
Connections to the server “mail.smtp.me” on the default ports timed out.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
My password and username are correct; however, the following error message appears in the Connection Doctor window:
Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed.  Verify that the username and password are correct.
Does anyone have a real fix for this issue-it doesn't happen all the time, but has been happening every day for the past week and I need a reliable program to send mail.
    Thanks.
    lsb

    Becky,
Check your smtp server and check if your password is added. After ungrading Mail might have lost the password.

    Dear Valued XFINITY Internet Customer,
