APPLE MANAGEMENT 3.1.X WIFI problem only fixed by newer ROUTER

I just had a MANAGEMENT IN support tech. tell me the only way to fix issues with WIFI once you update to newer OS is to get NEW ROUTER because it won't work with older technology routers.

It is pretty well known here that 3.x OS requires newer routers or at least router running updated firmware. I personally don't find this to be a problem nor have I found a public router that I couldn't connect to.
I recently had a router problem, not a wireless issue, and it would not connect to my cable modem. Guess what? Router firmware update and everything was fixed.

• WiFi slowdown only fixed by new network. Help!

every few months or so, my wifi slows to a crawl. when i plug directly into my AEBS with an ethernet cable, i get 20-30Mbps down/5-6Mbps up. when i go wireless, i get maybe .7Mbps down/1.5Mbps up.
toggling firmware doesn't help. restarting the whole shebang (router/modem/computer) doesn't help. the ONLY thing that helps is to create an entirely new network, which restores my speed. the problem is, of course, i have to re-teach all my devices, including my wii, my time machine disks, etc., which is a real pain.
what would be causing this?
oh, and one other thing: simply creating a "new" network with the same name doesn't work either. it has to be a new name.
either way, it's really frustrating.

Living in poverty isn't a joke I probably won't have a Google phone anytime soon. I live on SSDI due to a disability. I don't have a cell phone/iphone I have an itouch which doesn't have a monthly fee but relies heavily on WI-Fi.
I share the Wi-Fi with roommates some unemployed and sync my device on others laptops. It is like a mini-computer. I've tried all the fixes on the device and on the Router and none work. Updated firmware checked settings.
Trust me I worked through all the topics suggestions before having the manager tell their updates would make older products not work.
I notice all the replies the people own Macintosh Laptops it must be nice to have that kind of money. They obviously don't understand where some people are at in the world.
I now have a 1 year old product that I could barely afford that I can't update to new software.

• How long that apple will take care of wifi problem ?

I want to know , when Apple will take care of Wifi problem ? I did update to IOS 6. I can not turn on Wifi.

I am not having a problem with wifi on iOS 6. It is working fine for me. What is your exact problem? You are being very vague in describing what is wrong.

• Dear apple community, now I have some problem with iPad(The New iPad 4G). 1st, start from I got it, it really difficult charge. 2nd, very and very hot with 3G or Internet using. And more, some problem with wifi.

From Me, THE MAHACHAK to Apple Company
I think, the apple company are producing and sell only their own country or their ownself, not over the world. And in the other hand, I want to ask Apple Company about their market policy as marketing strategy or size of marketing. How about it? How did you think? Only your own or for world. I like one word as MARKETING IS WATER. Where can't water go? Such as my small country have a lot of people are using apple products a lot as iPhone, iPad, iPod and apple laptop. Cambodia is my small country with much rich families. They can use a good product or high class product, high tenology. Most of products is Apple. But they always have many bad comments and bad problem with Apple products. WHY? The problems such as Lock code, cann't conected with other, hard to find or buy, no Safety, no warranty world wide, wifi, charger, hot during 3G conected, ...etc. hope, these my own idea is looked for all the Apple customers around the world. Please, text me back. Waiting back.
Thanks and Regard

• Iphone 5 wifi problem (only fails to connect at home)

Accidentally changed HTTP Proxy to Auto(I turned it off now) while using home wifi,
now my iphone 5 wouldn't connect to my home wifi (Home only, works anywhere else)
Tried : Restoring phone to factory setting, restarting phone, forget network

When you restored, did you restore as new, or from a backup? Try going into Settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings. See if that helps.

• Strange wifi problem on a brand-new MacBook Pro

Hey there, I'm new here. Desperation has got the better of me, and I hope I can get some advice.
So, last sunday I bought a brand new 13" MacBookPro with 2.8g i7 processor and 10.7.2 OS (I can't update to 10.7.4 because System Update tells me the download has been tampered with or corrupted after I waited 2 hours for it to finish, but I'm trying a direct download from the website). Here's the exact product: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MD314LL-13-3-Inch-VERSION/dp/B005CWIZ4O/ref= sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340301247&sr=8-5&keywords=macbook+pro+13
Everything is all perfect except for a strange wifi problem. Note that the wifi does not turn-on or off, it doesn't disconnect after 'sleep', it doesn't get less speed, it doesn't constantly leave a preferred connection (once I chose my home wifi it always connects to it no problem). The wifi bar is always full. What is wrong is that the internet is kinda 'glitchy'. The best metaphor I can think of is that it's like a car that has to be pushed down the road before the engine can start. Please, bear with me because this is kinda hard to explain and I'm not good at tech lingos.
One of the symptoms is browsing can get really slow and inconsistent, almost as if the wifi gets turned off in the middle of browsing. For example: if I look something up on Google and then open 5 new tabs, probably only 2 or 3 of those tabs will eventually load while the other two will not get past the long 'http:.......google.....etc etc' address and will eventually show one of those 'error loading page because there's no Internet connection' notice. This happens a lot. Sometimes I have to refresh/retry loading a page a couple of times before it finally loads, then usually everything will get back to normal and I will be able to open multiple tabs with no problem, but in a couple of minutes I would try to open another site and the problem will start again.
So I tried to see how it does with downloading using iGetter. Fortunately I also have a Macbook (white-plastic casing one) and my brother has an old 2006 MacbookPro so I can compare. With those two older Apples iGetter starts receiving data in less than 8 seconds after I click Start, while my brand-new Macbook Pro can take up to 15-20 seconds, sometimes it doesn't even start at all and I have to re-click the start button. But once the download actually starts (on my new MacBook Pro), it downloads like normal, it doesn't stop and the speed is also as good as I can get. Strange huh? Hence, like a car that has to be pushed before the engine starts.
I also tried 'speed testing' from a website with all 3 laptops. On my old MacBook and my brother's MacBook pro, once I click 'begin test' it takes only a couple of seconds of 'ping' before the download/upload speed measurements start, but with my new MacBook Pro (just like with iGetter) it takes up to almost a minute before the measurements start, sometimes it won't start at all and I have to re-start the test.
Well, thanks for reading. And hope you can help me shed some light into this. Because it is really preventing me from really enjoying my new MacBook Pro. And if this is most likely a hardware problem, I'd better get back to the store and try to get it replace or something while it's only been 5 days. *cheers*

Hey guys.. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I bought the MacBook in Indonesia where there are no such thing as an AppleCare. The only option is to leave the Apple product to one of the 'Authorized Apple care centre' and have whoever do whatever to it without guarantee of success. As for returning it and getting a brand new one, I also don't know if there is such a deal here, but that's actually a good idea, will try to go to the store tomorrow. Although, I'm worried that the problem might be with OSX Lion or something and getting a new one won't help.
mark75090, I've tried resetting the router when I first noticed te problem, didn't work though. I've checked my new MacBook's wi-fi (option+click wifi bar) and it says 'PHY Mode: 802.11g', so does my MacBook and the old MacBook Pro. I don't know what those mean though, and I don't know whether or not my router is an N., can you tell me more please.. I have tried with the other two turned off, and only the new MacBook using the wi-fi but the problem persists. I have also tried connecting directly to the router, but as I described, the problem is too subtle for me to notice the difference.
Also, if I create a brand new Wi-Fi connection in network preferences and connect to my router through the new Wi-Fi profile, the problem seems to be gone for an hour or so, then it always comes back though. I have also just finally installed 10.7.4, but it doesn't help either.

• Apple tv cannot connect to wifi it only gives me ethernet connection. and even ethernet is not working

I have try many times to connect with my wifi apple tv but it does not find it to put codes it only gives me ethernet and even that does not connect. It was working perfectly but not now

I have the same issue, and it sounds like others may have similar. What's weird is I watched a streamed video on the 22nd with no issues with 10.5.5, iTunes 8.0.1, and AppleTV 2.1. I went to watch something on Monday night and had the same issue you did. I checked my Software Update.log and these were the only updates (changes) to my MBP since I had it working on the 22nd:
2008-10-27 17:32:45 -0400: Installed "Migration and DVD ⁄ CD Sharing Update" (1.1)
2008-10-27 17:32:51 -0400: Installed "AirPort Extreme Update 2008-004" (1.0)
2008-10-27 17:33:58 -0400: Installed "iPhoto Update" (7.1.5)
I did installed Boxee on Friday, but in troubleshooting this week I factory defaulted my AppleTV to 1.0, then did an upgrade to 2.2 and have the same issue.
I troubleshoot technology for a living, and this makes no sense to me--you can always find something that changed to cause and issue, and I can't find anything.
One more note, I did a sniffer (Wireshark) capture, and it reported malformed packets from the AppleTV to my MBP...now I accidentally deleted the capture and didn't dig further. Wireshark sometimes misrepresents normal things as issues. I will try and re-do the capture and see if I can did deeper.
Apple please fix this!

• G580 WIFI Problem ONLY at school (redirected website for wifi password)

Hi all,
I recently purchased a lenovo G580 laptop; windows 8
My laptop wifi works perfectly when I am at home or connected to any normal wifi.
It does not work when I am at school which typically once you connect to the school's wifi, it opens up a web broweser asking for your usename and password to get compelte access. (figure 1- from my other laptop)
My lenovo laptop cannot download this website, therefore I have no internet access at school since I cannot put my information inside. (figure 2- from lenovo laptop)
The problem is not my school's router because I have wifi connection on my other laptop here without any problems. Also the problem is not really the location/wifi of my lenova laptop because I can connect to my phone's personal hotspot when I am at school.
Simply, the problem is found when I cannot connect to my school's wifi because it requires me to download a site to put my information.
I have read other forums and try to figure it myself, however, I am very noobie when it comes to computers. So I appreciate a step-by-step instructions. For example, please provide links that I may need to download to update my driver.
I have called customer care, and I am not going to pay 100 bucks just to fix a simple problem. So i appreciate your time.

check whether you have set up your wifi settings correctly.(i mean 'servers' and login credentials ).

• IOS 8.02 WiFi Problems Need Fixing

I have been having problems with WiFi since upgrading to iOS 8 and iOS 8.02. My WiFi will work for sometime and then start to sow down to. point where it appears to not work at all. I've verified my IP info and it is correct, but nothing appears to download off the internet. After performing a reset the problem gets resolved, but always reoccurs. This problem occurs on both my iPhone 5s and my iPad 2.
Other Apple customers are reporting similar problems as can be found by reading other community posts, so I doubt that this is not a serious bug and Apple needs to address this ASAP! Apple Corp. Used to be known for its superior quality control, but where has it gone? To support my statement, I want to remind you of iOS 8.01, iMaps, iOS 6 power draining issues, etc.. So Apple, please get your act together and fix the problems with your products!
Will an Apple programmer please respond to this statement? Thanks!

Ever since iOS 8 I have had some wifi issues like a lot of us have had!!! But the main one which still keeps happening is that when I plug my iPhone 6 plus and iPad air on to charge I loose connectivity to the Internet !! Wifi is still connected as I can still access the router but no device can get on the Internet ! When I turn wifi off on either device running iOS 8.1 and plug into charge then nothing happens to the internet obviously! Doesn't happen on my wife's iPad running iOS 6 and her iPhone 4 running ios 7 , so am positive it is iOS 8.1 !! The only way I get the internet back is by rebooting the router ever single time!!!! This has been going on since iOS 8 was released and is driving me crazy now! My router is a Netgear wndr3700 dual band and is the same router I have had for the last 2 years and even got a replacement a few weeks ago as I thought it was that! Even had a broadband engineer visit my house and checked all was ok on my line as i thought there might be something wrong there but all is fine there! I have done all resets and restores you could possibly do on the iPhone/iPad/Router and problem still continues??? I have also found the remote app for iPhone crashes my network to and have found when I turn of iCloud backup of and plug iPhone/iPad on to charge it doesn't happen as much but it's defo still there!!! has any one else had these problems because i have never had any problems like this before and have been using apple stuff for years problem free really?? I'm sure it's ios 8 but would love some decent feedback??

• Really slow wifi on new iPhone 4S fixed with new router.

I got the iPhone 4S and it was running slow on wifi, videos would start and stop start and stop to the point
It was unusable. Older iOS devices iphone 3G and ( 3GS on ios5) were fast on same wifi. Tryed new phone because
I have fast connection on everything else at the house including tv. No luck same problem iPhone 4S slow vidio and web
surfing pages would take twice as Long to lode. Barowed daughter 4gin iPod touch same problem. So I went and
Got a New N600 wireless dual band router and again have wifi is supper fast on all devices including iPhone 4S.
Don't know why I had to buy new routter but happy it is fixed for now will let you know in a
Cuppel days if it is still fixed. By the way speed test app was running .20 down and 9.20 up that crazy!
Now the speed test is showing 24.79 down and 8.73 up. Good luck guys I know I wasn't alone with this issue.

"NETGEAR RangeMax Next wireless-N Router WNR834B v2" Is what it says on the back? About 4 years old as fare as I can remember. My wifi is still slow at free hotspots around town I'm sure they have "older" if you can call it that routters too. My phone was fast when I went into apples store so I would bet they keep there wifi updated a lot.

• Can these problems be fixed by new software?

Are the problems we're all having something that new firmware could fix or some update? Or is the whole "iPod Classic" a pipe dream/lost cause?

What exactly is your problem?

• Apple TV and a new router...

My Apple TV worked with the iPhone Remote app. (I lost the original Apple Remote during a move.) Then I got a new router. Remote app won't work according to teh guys at the Apple store because it communicates with the Apple TV through the wireless network and that info has changed. So they suggested I buy a new Apple remote because that will communicate directly with the Apple TV where I can enter the new router info. So I bought the Apple remote. Now the light blinks on the Apple TV when I press buttons on the new remote, but the Apple TV doesn't respond. When it starts up, it stalls trying to set the date and time and then goes to the screen saver. No response when I press MENU or try MENU and >|| as suggested in the online documentation. I have unplugged and reset the Cable modem, router, TV and Apple TV. Still no luck. Any ideas how I get to the menus in the Apple TV???

I get that, but my understanding is that the Apple remote should communicate directly with the Apple TV rather than through the network (this according to staff at the Apple store), and I have to get to the Apple TV menu system to set the location, etc.for the new router, right? But so far I have no way to get to those settings in the Apple TV.

• TS1559 WIFI solutions proposed by Apple are not working. Does oneone how to solve the WIFI problems?

Dear Apple.
I was really happy with my iphone4s, IOS 6.0, great product amazing quality and posibilities BUT.......
I updated from IOS 6.0 to 6.1.1. and the WIFI nightmare started.
I waited for a new update to fix the WIFI problems and I updated my iphone 4s from 6.1.1. to 6.1.2. in order to solve these problems related with WIFI connections.
But IOS 6.1.2. is even worst:
- WIFI is not working at all. So I cannot download apps greater than 50MB.
- Battery life is shorter than ever.
- 3G goes in and out every minute.
- When you operate the iphone4s you can realize that is hotter than before.
These problems are unnaceptable and inconsistent with a high quality standard product.
You can read a lot of blogs, I am not the only one.
Please give us a solution as soon as possible.
Best Regards
AICITEL

Thank you for your support.
My router is a TL-WR740N, and I think it has only a 2.4-2.4835GHz antenna.
So it seems that I have to keep on trying.
I also tryed to rename the router, still nothing.
Thank you anyway.

Help
WiFi only works close to router, DNS fail, Signal Bars present but Safari says no Internet, I've deleted and re-added through to reset and full reset, I had no problem with 4.3.2 only 4.3.3 both my iPhone4 and my iPad2. I am now beside router - no problem, but go 20 metres and WiFi becomes unstable. Only way to get either to work is disable WiFi either as a Hot Spot or turn it off and use the 3G connection. This worked with 4.3 & 4.3.2 what has gone wrong? I raised it at the Apple Store in Belfast as a problem but was told that there was no problem with Apple but I must have a faulty router - yeah - that's a lot of faulty routers, my home, my office, my holiday home, Starbucks, my friends house, my son's house. I've tried all the 'fixes'. I think it is a plan to force us to buy Apple Routers

Two ways out, I added two more Belkin Access Points in my house in Spain so that I'm not more than 10Mtrs away, (Reinforced Concrete & solar glass 2010)
I bought 3 Apple Airports, 1 x Extreme and 2 x Express (1 as a hard wired AP, 1 as an extender) for my other house (Brick construction 1930's)
Everthing now works perfectly, as I said 'an apple plot', so either blast them with signal or visit your nearest apple store.
Early beta iOS5 (iPad) is also much inproved in Beta 3, I have not had any problem with 'Lion'
Happy hunting!
