Apple Maps - Singapore - no Yelp integration?

Hi Community,
Any idea on the following? Apple Maps is advertised to show Yelp content when searching the map.
For me, this does not work here in Singapore. E.g. I am searching for restaurant A, but there is no search result in Apple Maps. Then I go to the Yelp App and search for the restaurant A - and here it is (incl. pictures, ratings, tips, ...).
Is it only me? There isn't an activation switch or something?
Thanks a bunch!

  • Apple Maps - How long does it take for a new entry to be approved?

Like many other small business, my listing is missing in the new Apple Maps app and customers are having difficulty in finding me on their iphones.
Last Friday I attempted to add my business using these instructions - http://www.didgeroo.com/blog/41-tips-tricks/282-how-to-add-your-business-listing -to-apple-maps  I also added a listing to Yelp.
It's almost a week now and my business still does not appear when searching Apple Maps. My Yelp listing is there, but nothing in Apple Maps.
Has anyone had any luck adding their business to Apple Maps? How long did it take to appear after you submitted a report?
I guess there must be a huge backlog at Apple. Would be nice if the process was more transparent - e.g. details of the approval process would help.

I'll take a look.  This is pure speculation - I am guessing that the department store updated because there were enough signals from other data sources that confirmed your change.  For example, I believe Apple's primary source of business listings data in Switzerland is TomTom.  If you search for Globus in Zurich in TomTom at https://mycompany.places.tomtom.com/ there is a result for the address Theaterstrasse 12 zurich - http://places.tomtom.com/de_ch/detail/globus/zurich/63747953026467150.
So perhaps Apple was getting signals from other data sources that conflicted with TomTom and signaled "EPA". And your update overrode all of the other signals because it matched the TomTom data.  BTW, not sure this means anything, but there are two listings for this business in TomTom.  One of them links to the wrong website I think https://www.google.com/search?oq=site%3Atomtom.com+Theaterstrasse+12+zurich&q=si te%3Atomtom.com+Theaterstrasse+12+zurich&pws=0
Of course, it could have been any number of other screw-ups as well
You may want to search all of the known data suppliers and Google for queries like "epa Theaterstrasse 12 zurich" to try to find the out of date data sources.  If you find any let us know, as this will be a key "paper trail" to figuring out how Apple gets some of it's data.

  • Apple Maps and Yelp app integration....errors beyond belief

Has anyone else ever experienced when you launch driving directions to a business from within the Yelp app, that even though Yelp has the address correctly, and will show it correctly on the map.....that Apple Maps gives completely innacurate directions, and in many cases will drive me going AWAY from the business.  The other day I had this happen again, and it had been awhile since I had used Apple Maps.  I figured I've heard that they are constantly improving so I decided to give it a try again.  I launched directions to a business from the Yelp app, and after driving for quite awhile I started to get suspicious.  Something wasn't right.  So I fired up Google Maps App, and sure enough, Apple was taking me in the opposite direction from the business!  It had put me on the correct road, but had me driving away from where I needed to be.

I am having the same problem. Patients are being led to the wrong side of the street for the following business location:
    Cornea Associates of Texas
    10740 N Central Expy #350
    Dallas, TX 7523
    Correct Location Markers (northbound/right side)
    Google Maps: https://plus.google.com/111531864240926008033/about
    Bing Maps: http://www.bing.com/local/details.aspx?lid=YN826x243064299
    Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/cornea-associates-of-texas-dallas-2
Incorrect Apple Location Marker (southbound/left side)
Can someone help me fix/report the marker location? I do not have access to any devices that have the iOS6 software.
    Thanks!

  • How can I update a location in the Apple Maps app?

The location across the road from my office building shows that a high school is there, but that is not the case.  The high school has not been located across the road in over 20 years.  I found this error when I was updating the location information in Google Places and thought to check the location accuracy in the Apple Maps app.  How can I submit for a correction to the location info?

Apple has always included a way to "report a problem" in iOS 6 Maps, but because it does so in the context of Yelp local search information, it's not readily obvious that this button is for reporting map errors rather than just filing a grievance against a business or Yelp's data (below).
    Might try here...

I understand it'll be easier in OSX 10.9

  • Apple Maps is displaying a very old address location -- How do I fix it?

I am the worship director and web developer at Cambridge Church. For many years we were a mobile church, so we've had quite a few locations and addresses over the years. With the new Apple Maps, when people search for "Cambridge Church", two locations pop up.
One -- @ 2410 W 123rd Street, Leawood, KS 66209-1268 is actually a Middle School (Leawood Middle School) that we used to meet at on Sundays. We haven't been there for close to 8 years. The Middle School is still active.
Two -- @ 14300 Kenneth Road, Suite 220, Leawood, KS 66224 is our old office location. We no longer have our offices there.
Our current worship AND office location is now -- 6731 West 119th Street, Overland Park, KS 66209
I have been spending a good part of two days tracking down and creating accounts for TomTom, Google Places, Bing, Yahoo, Localeze, Yelp, Mapquest, Factual and Acxiom and changing/updating/submitting/claiming, etc. our address information.
My concern is, none of these sites above have ever shown a listing for the 2410 address above. So, I am worried even though I've made some significant strides in updating the above databases Apple Maps pulls info from, the 2410 address will still show up in a search on Apple Maps on an iPhone.
We've had complaints about soem folks trying to find us and they have gone to the Leawood Middle School.
And our current address, NEVER shows up on an Apple Maps search, but does show up on most other third party apps (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.)
    I need help! :-)

  • Can I add missing businesses to Apple Maps myself?

    Hey guys,
Ok I've already posted about the woeful lack of business data in my area on Apple Maps. While we could all moan and complain until the skies fall it won't make anything better.
So I'm wondering, what did apple mean when they said that the more people use Apple Maps the better it will get? Does this mean that we can suggest or add existing businesses to Apple Maps? I sure if Apple came out and asked us to do their job for them they would be lynched but I just wanna get it done and its really bugging me that the information just isn't on there.
While we're on the topic I did search on Yelp in my area and again the lack of coverage is abysmal, yet there is the odd thing like the Cafe Neros around the corner that is on Yelp but not on Apple Maps. I guess I'm wondering who Apple used for businesses in the UK?

  • A huge amount of businesses missing from Apple maps

    Hi all,
I like so many other people am posting up about the new Apple Maps that have been forced upon us. I've been aware of the major mistakes on the news, ie misplaced towns and railway stations but I think there is a bigger problem that isn't being as well addressed. That is the massive amount of small scale data that is missing all together. Over the last two hours I've been testing a few places I know very well and had some really shocking results. I live in Sale (Manchester) and we are lucky to have lots of nice restaurants and coffee shops. Out of the six long established coffee shops only one appears on Apple maps! Out of all the many restaurants (40+) six appear. Also many businesses that are on the map with the icons Apple have used are in completely the wrong place.
So I also did a search for pubs in a place called Longridge I know very well and out of the ten pubs one appears as a result but if you zoom in a further three can be seen using the icons. I have also noticed that the M60 doesn't have any junction numbers which made travelling to a venue on Saturday difficult, I ended up looking at Googlemaps through the safari browser but ofc it's now sluggish and difficult to use as its not integrated.
So if Apple maps perform as bad as this across the UK then it's no even close to being as reliable as I'd need it to be, I just don't feel I can trust what it's telling me and that's the worst situation to be in when you rely on a map to get around so much.
I am a huge fan of Apple products but am very aware they are not perfect, but even with the no flash support thing, you know there is a reason behind what they are trying to do. However for the first time in a long time I'm now wondering what the **** Apple are playing at. Surely they must know how bad this software is right? I would love to know how it all panned out, ie did Apple get pushed by Google or did they jump? I mean its just insane, Google Maps is already doing everything the customer want so why not carry on using them? Are Apple so stubborn that they would rather nobble every one of their loyal customers than hold hands with Google. I don't know, if anyone out there has any info on what actually happened here then please post up.
As far as I can see Apple Maps is nowhere near ready (although the 3D cities are very nice) and so I'm really hoping they realise this isn't on.
    Cheers,
    Lee

Nokia did the same mistake several years ago stop listening customers!
Now apple is doing the same thing.. if the management has any common sense they will give people to option downgrade (old users) and option to choose between map google and apple maps...
Challenge for apple maps....give your customer choice to choose between maps google and maps apple
then make apple maps so much better that people want volunterily to choose to apple maps?
Is this too much to ask?
Apple are you realizing how much corporate customers you are forcing to move to android phone because of this?
We want our maps google back!

UNOFFICAL APPLE MAPS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
In the absence of any office Apple FAQ document for their new iOS6 Maps app, I have complied the following:
Q: How do I add or edit my business listing in Apple Maps?
A: No official answer currently exists. Best guesses:
    - Use the "report a problem" link in the maps app following these instructions
    - Add a new business entry to Yelp
    - Add a new business entry to Tom Tom Places
Q: What is the verification process for changes to listings?
A: No official answer currently exists.
Q: How do I monitor the progress of a listing amendment?
A: No official answer currently exists.
Q: Can I take ownership of my business entry and have access to analytics data?
A: No official answer currently exists.
Q: Will I be notified when my listing is updated?
A: No official answer currently exists. Evidence to date suggests if a change is made then the person reporting the problem is not notified.
Q: How will I know if my listing is rejected?
A: No official answer currently exists.
Q: How long can I expect it will take to have a new business listing added to the maps?
A: No official answer currently exists. Some reports suggest within 24hrs. Others have waited 18+days and still can not see their listing.

    *le sigh*
    Just as I expected...
No desire to provide anything unmetered...
No desire to provide anything at all in the way of value...

It sucks too... because I really wanted to be proved wrong... I knew I wouldn't, but I really hoped... I really feel sorry for the poor staff who are going to have to deal with the crap that comes from it...
Oh well, it isn't the fault of the poor staff here... the problem is that again, it proves that what customers what mean nothing to the decision makers...

  • HT5429 How can I set back phone settings to go from a searched location in safari to apple maps rather than google directions?

How can I set back phone settings to go from a searched location in safari to apple maps rather than google directions?

Click Here enter destinations, link to page in iWeb or iFrame it by clicking on "Link to Page" from Google map. This may seem ironic but if you are looking for something the best way to find it is by searching Google. For instance Googling "google map directions" will send you to referenced page. for a sub-$20 app I find it hard to believe you find it hard to believe Apple hasn't integrated this feature into the software.
    Hope that helps!

  • Best way to input Apple Maps destination by voice?

I just got Siri Eyes Free integration added to my car, so I am switching from Waze and Google Maps to Apple Maps so I can enter desitinations by voice by simply hitting  button in the steeting wheel.  However, so far I am very disappointed with Apple Maps.
Using the Apple Maps to enter an address by voice has been very frustrating and unreliable.
I have had Apple Maps send me to the wrong desitnation twice in the last week. I think I have figured out "why," but the "reason" is still not really an excuse that justifies the problem.
I asked Siri for "Directions to Walmart in (city name)."  Siri responds with something like "I found a Walmart near (city name) on Green Street.  Is that the one you want?"  The Walmart was indeeed on that street, so I said. "Yes."
Siri then said something roughly equivalent to "Routing to 123 Main Street."
That makes no sense, It just said it found Walmart on Green Street.  It proceded to give directions to a desitination on the other side of town on "Main Street.".
Today I asked for directions to a Comcast office and had the same expirience of it routing to a different address then the location of the business I asked for..
I figured out that both times Apple Maps was routing me to the town center  of each town instead of the specific place I originally asked for.
To "work around" this issue I found that I could rephrase the request in a more convulted way and it would get me to the correct directions.
I tried asking Siri to "Find Walmart in (city name)" and then Siri found it asked if I want to call it or get directions.  I said "Get directions" and then Apple Maps actually routed to the correct destination instead of the city center.
This needs to be fixed. It is clearly a bug.  The first time it happened I didn't notice it had said a different street name in the second response than it said when it asked "is that the one you want?" so I ended up driving several miles out of the way.  The workaround I found to bypass the issue is alot of unecessary work especially if you have to pick from a list of several possible locatons.
Is there a more relaible and short way to make Apple Maps give correct directions to a place of business when it is entered via voice command?
The second problem I had was when I submitted a residentual street address by voice.  This is is even more frustrating because it keeps trying to route to addresses in cities hundreds of miles a way.
I will ask for directions to a street address in a neighboring town and Apple Maps will say it is going to route to an address with similar street name in a city that is no where near where I am instead of the street that is in the neighboring city.  Sometimes it will get it after repeating the command a second or a third or a fouth time.
Sometimes it will work if I say the zip code instead of the city name and sometimes that doesn't work and it will say it can't find that street name in the city that belongs to that zip code, but the exact same command will work once I am within the city limits of that city.  This also needs to improve.
Is there a specific way or format of entering street addresses and limiting it to the closest cities that contain streets with that name (or similar sounding street names) so that it does't try to route to a similar street name far away when there is also the same street name 5 or 10 miles from my current location?

It would be nice if I could find something that
    would
allow me create utf-8 Vietnamese characters directly
    from my keyboard
Go to system preferences/international/input menu. Check the box for Vietnamese, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder." Plus the box for Keyboard Viewer. Then select the Vietnamese item in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder. Open TextEdit or other Unicode app (not AppleWorks or WordX) and type.
Please let me know if some part of this does not work for you.
PS To see which key does what, select Keyboard Viewer in the "flag" menu.
PSS In case you are talking about inputting Vietnamese into web forums, you will need to use FireFox instead of Safari. Some such forums are (stupidly) run in Latin-1 instead of UTF-8, which means all input has to be in the form of html escape codes (numerical character references). FireFox does this but Safari does not.

  • How To Add Thailand Business Listing To Apple Maps?

    Hi Support,
I need to add my Thailand business in Apple maps.
I read this link but it no has yelp in Thailand. What is supplier that you use in Thailand?
    http://applemapsmarketing.com/2012/10/apple-maps-business-data-suppliers-by-coun try/
    Thanks,
    Jiraroj

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. These are user-to-user support forums, so in almost all cases the only people who will reply to your posts are, like me, your fellow users.
I do not know what business data supplier Apple uses for Thailand. Perhaps someone else here will know. The site you reference is not an Apple site and hence is not authoritative nor at all complete.

  • Is there a web version of Apple Maps?

    Folks,
I am wondering if there is a web version of Apple Maps?
Before the trolls start chiming in, let me elaborate.
Apple Maps are not great (technically speaking... they suck), google maps are better, I have multiple apps (WAZE, MotionX-Drive, etc) for NAV.
Apple is not going to move back to Google maps, get over it.
Apple needs to leverage the community to make their maps better
Apple needs to make it possible for me to use the same mapping interface on multiple devices (not just iDevices)
On point 2, get over it.  I don't like it either, but it is not enough of a reason for me to switch to another platform
On points 3 and 4.  Give me an opportunity to help Apple make Apple maps better.  I for one would love an alternative to Google and Bing, especially one that would allow me to have a single integrated app in my devices.
    Thoughts?

*ahem* I should first point out that I am a Google fanboy, BUT I won't be going into the "Google Maps, herp derp, Apple stupid" garbage (unless you want me to ;~P). I just figured that I should point out a small correction in something mentioned earlier:
varjak paw The old house on the hill
This may not be something Apple could do since they don't own the map content. That comes from TomTom and others and the licensing may not allow other uses. But you can suggest it.
    Regards.
It is not TomTom's data which broke Apple Maps. It was largely Apple's poor implementation of data they purchased from companies such as TomTom. This is proven by the gradual improvement of Apple Maps since its initial release. They're smoothing over the data they crammed into an app and using it properly. Also, my family uses a TomTom GPS for family trips, so I had the opportunity to compare Google Maps (via my LG Spectrum) vs TomTom vs Apple Maps (via my cousin's iPhone 4S). At the time of Apple Maps's release, it was out of the running half the time. Google Maps and TomTom were always pretty close. The only thing I feel had a real advantage was Google Maps seemed to know which side of the street the location was more often (ex. "destination in 400 ft on right"). Which if you prefer TomTom navigaion, that's really nothing worth switching for.
On a side note, if anyone really does want to have an intelligent discussion regarding the pros and cons of iOS vs Android, then let me know ;~)

  • Is there a way to have all google maps "get directions" links forward to Apple Maps?

The internet browser keeps opening too Google Maps instad of Apple Maps when I click "get directions" even inside Apps like Starbucks which is supposed to be integrated with Passbook etc. Is there a hack or workaround I can use to forward all info for Apple Maps instead?

  • Apple maps working while offline?

I have a UK based sim and im traveling in the US. I've turned off my mobile data, my wifi is on and my sim has picked up the local mobile network.  Today i used apple maps on the wifi at the hotel.  I left the building and it worked one hour later on the street and not in a wifi zone, how?  I was told apple maps doesn't work offline.

    @martinaidyn
There are two issues here firstly can you not browse internet at all as Ovi Maps application would use whatever is Priority 1 in Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Internet to go "Online" and secondly if you have moved a considerable difference to your latest city all previously stored ephemeris GPS data is outdated.
You could always go to Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Positioning methods - temporarily disable all except Integrated GPS go outside (away from tall buildings if feasible) launch Ovi Maps and wait 20 - 30 minutes for it to lock on to new position.
Provided that regional mapping has already been downloaded (although WLAN access point needed by "Update" feature within device application) you don't need any internet or network connection for application to function.
