Apple Menu Bar once clicked would also open other menu bars

Hello! I would like to receive some advice about this particular problem. The Mac is 4 months old. Description of the problem: Once the Mac starts and I click the apple menu bar, the drop down menu would open and so are the other menu bars i.e. the file, edit, view, help etc. The menu bars will drop one after another non-stop. This problem also affects when opening files in Finder. The chosen file, once clicked will not open but it will revert back to the documents main folder. I hope you can help me with this. Hi! Thanks a lot! I tried your suggestions but the problem persists. Further description: It happens only when the computer is set to automatic log-in mode. I observed that if I hit any keys from the keyboard just before doing anything else after start-up, the "problem" disappears.

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.

I recently downloaded a program and have now lost Firefox's "awesome bar" which has been replaced by the program's own search bar. How can I restore the "awesome bar" and get rid of the other search bar?

I recently downloaded Bearshare.com which then overrode my Firefox "awesome bar". Now when I enter a search item in the search box at the upper right of my screen, I'm automatically shunted to this new search bar where I have to re-enter my search item and click return before it will begin a search. Previously, the Firefox "awesome bar" opened automatically together with my home page and I had the choice of searching using it or the default search box at the upper right of my screen. I 'uninstalled' Bearshare but it now continues to come up when I search using the right hand top search box , forcing me to use it instead of the search box at the upper right of my screen. How do I get rid of it completely so that only the "awesome bar" appears as an extra tab when I open Firefox browser?

First, some clarification:
* The location bar (often called the "awesome bar") is the larger bar on the left that shows you the address of the page you are currently viewing. As you type in the location bar it searches your history and bookmarks for matches.
* The search bar is the smaller one on the right. It typically displays an icon of whichever search engine is currently selected and may display search suggestions as you type in it.
It sounds like you are referring to the search bar rather than the location bar. You can change search engines for the search bar by clicking on the icon on the left edge of the search bar and choosing a different one. You can also choose "Manage Search Engines" to remove ones you aren't interested in using.
It also sounds like Bearshare might have changed your homepage in Firefox. To restore that you will need to open the preferences menu (click Tools > Preferences), go to the General tab (first on the top left), and click "Restore to Default".

I would like to move the reload button off of the location bar. I would also like to have a visible "forward" button as well as the back button.

Simple as that. Given that I have OCD, it's extremely unpleasant to have both the forward and back buttons not consistently visible. How can I return to that appearance?

Hi Rose1, if you mean in the regular address bar of Firefox 29, the Forward button should appear after you have used Back.
If you mean in the Classic Theme Restorer, you first need to check the box for "Movable back-forward button" in its Options. Open the Add-on page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions, then click the Options button for Classic Theme Restorer. On the "Main" tab, under General UI, you will find this option. As you check and uncheck, Firefox shows the result of the change, so you should see the arrows appear on the right end of the main toolbar.
After finishing with this dialog, you can use Customize to drag them where you want them.

Bar Graph Click Listener Should Open a Tab

Hi,
We have got a special requirement: Our application has 6 tabs. The first tab is the Dashboard. On Dashboard, we have few bar graphs. And each graph represents the current status of remaining 5 tabs.
And the requirement is, when the user clicks on any bar graph, respective tab should get opened. We easily achieved this when using a button/ Command Link/ Command Image Link as because they are supporting action event.
In case of bargraph, we are not getting this happened. Could you please let me know if there any way for us to achieve this requirement.
And FYI … here is the dashboard screen shot of our application. As per the below URL, when user clicks on the bar of Request bar graph, the Requests tab should get opened.

After setting the disclosed property for the tabs, you would need to have PPR to the panelTab in order to reflect the changes in UI.

You can find the Crash log in the Windows Event Viewer.
What you want to do is to get into the Windows Event Viewer. On a modern system you can hit Start then type event log into the search box, then when View event logs comes up, click it.
A Photoshop crash will be in the Windows Logs - Application section as an Application Error.
You'll want to copy the textual description, which should include the Faulting module, and paste it here. Usually the Faulting module tells us what part of your system is failing.

Five Bars of 3G is also ..maybe Two Bars.

That's because when I am close to my business Five means very rapid dnld speeds. When I am at home, about 6 miles from the single tower available, Five means half the dnld speeds measured at my shop. I have been attempting (with little success) to mount an extra antenna to improve the signal and repeater so I can replace the hardwire phone service in my home and have an option other then dialup. (Verizon does not offer DSL and Comcast says; "What are you kidding?!")
The reason I now know these speeds is that there is a very good, free app: SPEEDTEST X HD for the iPad that runs a test and provides actual dnld speeds. I have a posting with photos over at ipadforums.net/ipad-general-discussions/3720-do-ts-3g-bars-actually.html if you want to see the actual data.
The problem, of course, is that knowing this is knowing you also cannot do anything about it....

Bars don't really mean anything. With the iPhone, there is a code you can dial that will show you the actual signal strength in place of bars but I haven't seen something similar for the iPad yet.

all this works but when i right click on a message or news item and select "OPEN IN NEW TAB" - it fails to open the tab in this current window it opens it in the parent window --
the way i have always used this is to able to select news and right click all news items to read as new tabs and have all news items or messages to be grouped in the child window

the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

Front page opens works shortly freezes. only yellow green buttons work. I click yellow to minimize normal top bar menu appears I choose new page, opens works normally. The restart saved tabs does not work on that first page.

Before updating to FF 4.0, when I close, it warned me that I was about to close multiple tabs IT ALSO gave me the choice to save all open tabs (not bookmark) so they would all open once I opened FF again. Where is it???

When I close - it does still tell me that I am about to close multiple tabs... but it no longer gives me the option to save open tabs, NOT bookmark, SAVE open tabs. That way, the next time I open Mozilla, all the open tabs from my previous session would open once again. 'Save Open Tabs' is GONE - it would be very helpful to have it back. I don't use it all the time, but it was much easier to save open tabs when I wasn't able to finish what I was doing instead of having to search through the previous days history to find what I need when I start my next session!!!

Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:

# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

No Menu Bar and Programs Will Not Open!!!

Turned on my Powerbook G4 today and my menu bar had dissappeared (the apple, file, edit, window, etc.). Although, it still shows the airport, time/date and an icon for my creative suites CS2. But they're unresponsive to clicks.
Also, my dock doesn't seem to want to allow me to open my programs. I click on anything and it'll bounce once and do nothing. I can't even open the Finder to have a snoop around or access my system pref. But as long as I've had my laptop, the finder has ALWAYS been open.
In addition, I can see my chosen background, but the icon for my HD and the two or three files I had on the desktop have disappeared.
Anyone know what I can do to solve the problem without having to reinstall or reformat? (I lost first installer disc, so it'd be tough to fix regardless).
Help me out, please!

Also, I tried running the FSCK in single user mode. It said my hard drive is ok, but when I rebooted I still get the same problem:
No menu bar (but I have airport, CS2 icon, volume, battery and time with no drop down)
My applications do not launch from dock (bounce once)
The icons on my desktop are gone (although my wallpaper remains)
Sometimes, my MS Office updater will come on and I can get to system pref., but i can't think of anything I can do to fix this problem.
Honestly, i've been dealing with macs for a while and I've never seen anything like this before.
