Apple Mobile Device Not Running

Any suggestions? I just bought my ipod touch yesterday and upgraded my itunes to the newest version but it still won't sync. I've gone through the help pages on here, clicked through the control panel to services and the Apple Mobile Device isn't even there to restart. For some reason it isn't downloading properly with itunes... HELP I'm desperate to start playing with mt new gadget!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions. 
Try removing iTunes and AMDS entirely. When you install iTunes 7.6.1 again temporalily disable any security software (firewalls/anti-virus etc) whilst you re-install.

  • IPod Touch - Apple Mobile Device not started

    Hi Guys! I have recently received an iPod Touch and it won't connect to my computer. I have tried everything!! When the iPod is connected and I open iTunes it comes up with a box saying the Apple Mobile Device service is not started but then when i go into "services" to start the Apple Mobile Device it then comes up with another box saying "The Apple Mobile Device on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
    How do I obtain use by other services or programs when it is not registering as a device on my computer??
    I have no idea what to do now!! HELP!!
    I have tried restoring default setting on my firewall and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all related programs but nothing has seemed to work.

    Thanks for the reply but i have already tried this. When i went to stop it to then restart it it didn't have a stop option because it was already stopped so i clicked on start and it wouldn't start :S

    You can try to start the AMDS by going to task manager (ctrl/alt/delete), Choose the services tab and right click on the AMDS and choose start service.     I find it easiest to download my purchases directly to my iPhone.  You don't even need to connect your iPhone to iTunes.  As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the items, you will not be charged.
    You can find the steps to do this under the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on iOS" in the following article:

  • Apple mobile device not working

    I've just re-installed to the latest Itunes, but whenever I connect my iphone 4 in it won't read on itunes. I've tried this support page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567 but whenever I try to start the "Apple Mobile Device" it says 'Windows could not start Apple Mobile Device on Local Computer Error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly.
    Can someone help me fix this problem please.

    This error is associated with ringtones, are you trying to sync a ringtone, purchase a ringtone...need more info...
    I have also an error message saying it cannot sync and error message number 0050.
    Are you on Windows XP? Is this the error message...iTunes displays -50 error message? If so, follow these directions:

    I am trying to synch my iPhone and my iPad to iTunes.  I connect to the computer and open iTunes.  I get a message that says: "The iPhone (or iPad - I get the same message with either device) cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device is not started."
    I have successfully synched both my iPhone and my iPad to iTunes lots of times before.  I never got this message before.  Of course, when that message comes up, it's game over - iTunes will not recognize my device and so it is impossible to synch.

    Thanks!  AFTER posting this basic question, I did what I should have done in the first place and serached it out.  Of course there is all kinds of info on what to do - I did it, problem fixed.  Frankly, I am a little embarrassed.  I should have searched first.

    I keep having issues trying to get itunes installed. I did the recent update and it kept telling me a file was missing. I then uninstalled the whole program. And now when I'm trying to install it. It is telling me something about an error with Apple Mobile Device or Support.
