Apple Mobile Device Support refusing to uninstall
Updating iTunes and I got an error message telling me I had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Uninstalled iTunes and Apple Software Update but Apple Mobile Device refuses to uninstall (gets to 1 second then rolls back). Any idea what I can do?
Hey oakman15!
Try using the information in the following article in order to restart your Apple Mobile Device Service to see if that will help you uninstall the program:

"Apple Mobile Device Support" will NOT uninstall from my computer so I am still unable to upload iTunes. I have tried it multiple times in multiple ways and after the uninstall always fails. Solutions to this specific problem?
I don't know... A link to the official repair advice is given at the top of my user tip. There was a new build of the iTunes 11.1.4.62 setup file released yesterday which is supposed to install cleanly on any system still back on iTunes 11.1.3.8, however they are still giving the same advice for problem systems that have already been upgraded. I.e. the new installer won't repair a currently borked install.
You can download 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components, then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). AMDS might not install right now, but you may get a more useful error message as to why not, and you might be able to run iTunes even if you can't update your devices at this stage.

When I connect my iPod touch it tells me that I need a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and to uninstall iTunes and then re-install it, I've done that twice with the newest version of iTunes and it still doesn't work?

I cannot install the latest version of iTunes as it instructed me to uninstall the version I had, which I did, but the "Apple mobile device support" will not uninstall. This has left me with no iTunes and the new version will not install until I can uninstall all the old components. Help please
You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try installing AppleApplicationSupport again. It may still fail to install but you may get more useful error messages as to why not.

What error message do you get when you try to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support? (Precise text, please.) -
I don't know how to uninstall, then reinstall. Is this to be done on my computer or my phone? seems strange that there isn't just an update. If I "uninstall", does this lose what I have in iTunes? (I assume not, but have to ask.) This iTunes account is shared by three people in my household. Do they have to do something too? If you can help, please let me know. Thanks.
MarianneLet's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -

Apple Mobile Device Support will no uninstall
So i finally got my iTunes installed correctly.
I went to plug in my iPod and it said Apple Mobile Service Support needs to be updated.
iTunes uninstalled without any problems.
When i try and uninstall Mobile Device Support, When it gets to 0 seconds remaining the green loading bar backs all the way up and then the uninstalling window goes away. You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try installing AppleApplicationSupport again. I am following the instructions for removing and reinstalling itunes because I had a "msvcr80.dll missing from your computer" error. I have uninstalled itunes and apple software update but the next one in order "apple mobile device support" will not uninstall. According to the instructions, that one has to be removed before I can do the rest. Would love any help I can get.
Hello and thanks so much for your quick reply. I am at a standstill, because I have done those things already and it has not worked. The repair install procedure seemed to take place quickly, but the same thing happened again when I tried to uninstall it the program after that.... It seems to proceed, then the progress bar goes backward, and there it still is!
When I downloaded the Microsoft Fixit program and asked it to uninstall the Apple Mobile device Support, it started but then got stuck and I had to shut my computer off, as it froze everything up!
I'm hoping you can help..... This seems to be a problem with the new version, and it's frustrating, because I can't use Itunes on my computer at all till we find a solution.
Perhaps if I try to restore my computer to before the Itunes 11.1.4 uodate?
Thanks so much for your help,

Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
For the past couple of months I have been unable to install updates to iTunes getting error messages everytime. Normally I have just cancelled out the update. Today I tried to finish an update, even trying to install manually, and downloading from the webiste and installing from there. Nothing has worked and i always get error messages and even seemed to have lost iTunes somewhere.
I found the article "removing and reinstalling..." and have been trying to follow that procedure to see if a complete and clean installation would work. The first step is removing the various sofware componesnt, with step 4 being to removed Apple Mobile Device Support. Using uninstall in the control panel i have tried to uninstall AMDS three times but it continues to show.
Since it says not to restart until you have uninstalled all 6 components, i have not done a restart. I stopped the procedure mid-stream hoping to get some suggestions.
Windows 7 64b, PC.Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same F-n problem.
Thanks! -
Due to a program error, I need to uninstall and re-install Itunes. While following the instructions provided for removing the program, I found that Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall. The program removal begins as normal but when the completion bar almost reachs the end with time remaining - 2 seconds, the bar starts to move in the opposite direction and the time reamaining increases before the window closes on its own. And Apple mobile Device Support is still on my program list.
Does anyone know why the program won't let me remove it? Any suggestions?See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
