Thanks but I'm in Apple so no Temp file as in Windows.  This is like a journey back in time to the days when you had to feel comfortable accessing and renaming folders on your computer instead of just starting and using the application you have paid for.  I assume Adobe were able to take my subscription money without difficulty...

  • Dependancy of  Appliacation Performance  on Package Design Patterns ??

    Hi
Recently one of my collegue have suggested us to change the data base package design pattern ., i.e to design the package as per the database functionality but not as per the application functionality.
Example to say ., to integrate all the Data retrivel Sp's into a single Package , All the Update functionality into another package so on... i was totally refused to do so as i never find as such practice in my career.,
We design the packages as per the Application functionality i.e for each module we design one or more packages so that the developer working on that particulor module can access the Packaged objects very easily and also this will improve the Application modularity & effeciancy.
Can any one say, what will be impacts on the Appliacation Performance prospective if i design the package as per my collegue's suggestion., and which is best approch in the application development area.
We are working on Oracle 10gR1 and the front end is .Net .,
    Regards
    Sekhar

I don't think the performance are the biggest problem here. I do think however the code maintenance could be a problem. Especially if your app is large, then somehow logically grouping procedures/functions with similar requirements in packages and having these groups as subsystems/modules in your application is more flexible because as your app grows, you can add another subsystem/module and another package. If you create some fixed number of packages e.g retrieval, update, insert, delete, then what you'll do for a large application? Create package Retrieval1, retrieval2 etc? Seems quite illogical.
So I doubt there are big gains/losses from pure perfomance point, but the biggest problem is maintainability of your code.

  • Apple Package Viewer

I'm wondering if you can help me to find the name of a very useful little application that I had before I transferred all my data over to my new iMac. I transferred all my files at the beginning of the year and I seem to have lost the app somewhere in the shuffle. It was made by Apple (I'm pretty sure it came on one of the Developer Tools installer CD's) and it showed you the contents of Apple (.pkg) packages. It's not Pacifist that I'm thinking of. It was called something like "Apple Package Viewer" or "Package Extractor".
Does anyone know which app this is and where I can find it again? I have looked absolutely everywhere - even on the Developer Tools (X-Code) CD's for 10.2 and 10.3 and 10.4.
    Thanks,
    Gerard

Thanks for your replies. "PackageMaker" is definitely not the app. It was named something like Apple Package Viewer or Package Extractor or Package Inspector and it definitely allowed you to extract individual packages from installers (PackageMaker doesn't allow you to do this). It was much like Pacifist and I guess I could use Pacifist but it drives me crazy when I know I had this on my previous iMac and now it's gone. I back everything up like clockwork but I somehow missed this one.
I know about the right-click and select "View Package Contents" thing but that doesn't always work with some packages. In fact, I just tried it on the Leopard CD >> Optional Installs >> XCode Tools >> Packages >> DeveloperTools.pkg and that trick won't work with this package.
I'm not sure what the "flat package editor" is. I don't think that was it. All I know is that this little app worked like a charm - it was part of my Mac "toolbox".
Anyone else have any ideas? I know that I got it back around 2005.
    Thanks,
    Gerard

  • How to contact apple account security team via email?

I have forgotten the answers to my security questions? How do I contact apple account security team via email?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page should let you reset them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • May I request to the itunes design team to allow backup without the passcode

My ipad's front panel display is broken.  I need to back up all my data but unable to do it in iTunes because I need to unlock it with my passcode (screen has huge crack).
    Any alternative solution?
    Thank you.

May I clarify that my Ipad was not jailbroken, when I say broken ( front panel display was shuttered, LCD display not functional).
I used Itools, and I can still see my front screen, unfortunately, I cannot control it in my PC to unlock it so I can back up my data.
I hope the design team will at least allow backup for a case like shuttered LCD screen, since I cannot slide and put my passcode...at least allow users to enter passcode in Itunes, that way security is not compromised.

  • Beacause of apple's design bug, I had reversed USIM'S backstop!!

Beacause of apple's design bug and my uncarefully, I had reversed USIM'S backstop When I was bought it jusy for 5 hours yesterday in Japanese Softbank. And now I cann't get it out.
SO,I phoned the apple in today's noon, they told me went to softbank to resolve the problem. But when I went to the Sofwbank at 2 pm,They said they cannot repair it.but………… Softbank and Apple called eachother…….I cannot speak Japanese masterly. AND the final result was that I renew my new iphone with another 23000yin next week.
Beacause of iPonhe's design bug more,my uncarefully little and oher ,I lost 23000yin.
    Have any methods ?

Reading the instructions helps. Especially when you've just purchased an expensive piece of electronics.
Everyone gets excited and wants to play with their new toy, but you can't blame a company if you didn't read the instructions!!
With every phone there is two possible ways of installing the SIM, one correct, one incorrect. It is worth reading the instructions for this simple task.

  • Yosemite: An open letter to Apple Development and Design Teams

Respectfully, is it possible that your teams would reconsider the design choices that were developed for Yosemite? (Mavericks was lovely.) After installing Yosemite, I personally found the revised design elements to be overwhelmingly unappealing -- partially because the icons and overall color scheme are disruptive to the eye.
A bit of research in your support communities confirms that there is a pervasive sense of dissatisfaction with the look of Yosemite. Apple interfaces have been so beautiful until now… what has happened to the lovely polished Apple that we have all have come to love? Historically, Apple's most devoted base is made up of hi-end creative professionals and extremely design-savvy consumers. Yosemite just looks (I'm so sorry) like someone without any sense of your branding or identity took over. Woefully unsophisticated. The proportions are off. The elegant, but subtle, sense of depth is gone. It's gone flat altogether, but not in a good way.
There are oversights in the functionality, too. At first glance, the powerful color labeling feature for files has been all but destroyed. In my work, I depended on that feature every day. Managing 22,000+ image and design documents for one client is no easy task, even with Bridge. So I truly depended on Apple's color labeling to help me do my job more efficiently -- but now it seems I will have to look really hard for a tiny colored circle which may (or may not) be concealed by its filename if the browser columns are too narrow. Whoever designed Yosemite clearly does not use color labels as an organizational tool. I am so sad about the labels… .
Whatever has happened, old friend?!  Would you please consider restoring Apple's fine features of design and function?

Thank you for the link, 213JB.  It takes me right back to this community.  Hopefully, the Apple teams will find it here.
    Have a great evening.

  • Attention Apple Design Team

    Hey guys,
Your work on the iPod series is just incredible. I presently have the iPod Touch 2.1 newest build, and I am just amazed at how incredible it is.
I have an idea for you all. Have you thought of doing some cool glasses as a display device that use your new generation monitor link (small plug) that could link into a iPod Touch / iPhone platform / chassi and have the display in the glasses? One could liesurely watch movies, podcast videos, music videos, etc, with the iPod in their pockets. I reflection/opaque control could turn the glasses from viewing movies to semi transparent via reflective on/off LCD film on the lenses.
This way, you dont have to hold the ipod up to your face. Sort of like blue-tooth, but for the eyes, not the ears. (not meaning wireless, but 'hand' less).
I didnt know wether to post this here or in the iPod center of the forums... Made sense to post this here.
Keep up the great work guys!
    Bill
    LHC

I don't think that Apple Design check this much. However, a patent was apparently lodged by Apple recently to do this... For glasses that create an image, sortof like virtual reality, that when turned off are just normal transparent glasses.
So, this may happen although it is just a patent at the moment. Don't hold your breath in the immediate future.

  • Well its another 3rd gen. 8gb ipod touch problem. Apparently they don't exist and that really ticks me off because the apple packaging clearly stated it was an 8gb 3rd gen. and now i can't update it. Apple lied and now im paying for it.I better get a new1

A year or two back i dad just used up all of my money to buy a brand new ipod touch 3rd gen. 8gb. I bought it at a local sams club and i even still have the packaging that says it was an 8gb 3rd gen. But Apple lied to me because it is only an 2nd gen. I looked it up and they don't exist. Now i can't get any games or anything because of thier false advertisement and ripping us off (as you can't update from iOS 4.2.1). This also happened to many of my friends and other Apple customers throughout the U.S. It was an unopened product from Apple. Since they tricked us i hold Apple accountable. I demand a refund and anyone else in this delemma please share your story. APPLE OWES ME A REFUND.

I see that you have the same problem as guys in the sites I found.
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/54866
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/55334
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/55180
I think most of them manage to came out either with FULL REFUND, with 75-90% DISCOUNT for iPod 4G purchase, or FREE iPod touch 4G 8GB.
I'll tell you this, it's not Apple who lied to you, it's the misled DEALERS. I've been collecting evidences and it seems from the beginning (the time of press release) until the release of iPod 4G, Apple never stated that they intended to release iPod touch 3G in 8GB.
See this image of Apple online store back in early 2010 :
The 8GB model were only UPDATED with iOS 3 however the true NEW iPod touch at that time (Apple hadn't used the terms Generation yet) was available in larger capacity. The iPod touch 8GB wasn't RENEWED but rather RE-RELEASED with lower price as previous 8GB iPod touch were more expensive. If you still not convinced enough to believe it, well search the youtube and watch Phil Schiller's presentation in 09/2009. He shown 8GB model (he didn't say new) would only experience updated price of $199 but later on, he pushed the 8GB aside and explained the NEW larger capacity models would be granted double capacity and improved performance
Hence, I'm truthfully sorry to say that the one whom to be wronged isn't Apple but dealers themselves for false advertising. I suggest you to bring up your complain to the dealer with valid evidences because if you don't, I'm afradi you might lose your chance due to the time being.

  • Package designing strategy (may be stupid question)

    Hi,
I always run into this problem while deciding package structure. Hope I can get it resolved once and for all here.
There are customer and products domain objects. I will create seperate packages for them. Say each package will have several classes working together. I am showing only the core classes Customer.java and Product.java. The domain objects access database via database classes from corresponding "db" packages. Thus the structure looks like :
    \---root
    +---cust
    | | Customer.java
    | |
    | \---db
    | Customer.java
    |
    \---prod
    | Product.java
    |
    \---db
    Product.java
    Here is the problem :
The above structure looks very logical to me but I have following issue:
How to make root.prod.db.* accessible to root.prod.* only since it has no business outside it. Similarly the customer classes.
I donot want to merge db.* classes with its parent as I want to keep database access classes seperate. I do not see any way around it.
What is the approach generally taken for this very common issue or is it not an issue at all ?
Should there not be a new visibility indicator which will allow the members to be visible to classes of its immediate parent package and current package only ?
    Thanx
    ~Tony

I have found that package-protected access can be a
huge benefit to creating reliable and highly efficient
code. When you separate your classes out into sub
packages this way, you lose the ability to use this
tool. You might want to consider thinking about what
classes will need to interact closely with each other.I am aware of all that u said and agree with it
Will your db classes be populating the business
objects with data? Generally it will be other way around.
Do you want to force your data
loading to have to go through setters or would it be
beneficial to load the fields directly without
exposing those fields to classes outside the package?Generally fields r not exposed.
When you separate classes that are intractably
y coupled in the design, you are creating headaches
for yourself. How to get rid of that headache ?
    >
Of course there are many schools of thought on this
but I found that the package-protected modifier was
extremely useful on my current project.
There is also a problem with package sprawl. Don't
create a package unless you plan to put more than a
couple classes in it.If I understand u correctly, u are suggesting to put db classes with business. With due respect, this won't solve my prob as I want to keep db access logic seperate (my original question).
