Apple Pay activated without permission when walking through library security doors.
I would like to know why Apple Pay activated when I walked through the doors to my local public library. I believe this is being caused by the security system that keeps people from stealing books from the library as well as items from stores. Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be a security risk? I'm curious what Apple will have to say on this matter.

Since you were not making a purchase, I doubt there was any security risk involved.

IPhone 6 Plus NFC opening passbook when walking through RFID gates at library
I work in a public library that utilizes an RFID system for checkout and security purposes. I noticed yesterday when I came into work that my phone was on (it had been locked) and Passbook was open. The same thing happened when I left work.
I took my phone and stood between our RFID security gates at the entrance - and wouldn't you know, Passbook opened again, telling me to scan my finger print to make a purchase.
I'm assuming the NFC system is picking up on the RFID signal our gates are working with. Has anyone else noticed this while walking through RFID security gates?Who is your library RFID vendor?

One of the phone numbers that came up to activate Apple Pay was 855-569-6553. What is this? This is not my number. Was this a hijack attempt?

Alphabet coming up when scrolling through library
basically i recently brought an 120 GB classic and when scrolling through my library i noticed that the alphabet wasn't coming up but not it happens occasionally ,is this happening to anyone else??
sorry i was writing that first post in quite a rush, basically the alphabet has only come up when i have been scrolling through my library twice in the 2 weeks i have been using the device and i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else

Battery flattens when going through Airport Securi...
On a recent trip abroad whilst taking my Nokia 5230 for the first time I noticed once it passed through the security scanner, with the phone switched on, when I went to use it the battery was completely flat. I had only charged it the night before. Exactly the same happened on my return journey. Obviously the phone was not on my person but in my hand luggage in the tray provided.
Fortunately I had my N78 with me and this was unaffected. Next time I go abroad I'll switch on my 5230 before it goes through the security scanner. Just wonder if that will make any difference. Has this happened to anyone else?You would perhaps expect an increase in power consumption of device trying to maintain signal within airport confines but not to this degree.

Reset Firefox in safe mode. Clicked 'Help', then "Restart with Add-ons disabled"
After restarting, Checked "Reset all preferences to Firefox default"
When done, found three new Tabs, one asking if I wanted to continue previous session, a second from Firefox, saying "Welcome to Firefox"
And a third with the heading, "Web Developer Installed"

The new website, which also asks for donations, doesn't look related to Firefox. Regardless, NO ONE ASKED MY PERMISSION to install

I DO NOT WANT Chris Pendrick's "extension" on my computer, but don't know how to completely delete/uninstall.

Apple TV freeze then reboot when flipping through music
Hi,
I have an issue where my Apple TV freezes and then reboots when I flip thorugh the music files. The music is playing and I switch to the next song but it seems that if do this too fast repeatedly the unit feeezes and then reboots. It varies how many times I have to switch the song but approximately 10 times before it happens.
It only started happening after the newest update.I'm having a similar problem. I stream my music collection from my computer hooked up to an external hard drive. For the last few days, apple tv freezes right after I choose "Shared Music". After some time it reboots ... but now I can't play music AT ALL! I have a very large music library and amusing the newest update too.

23" Apple Cinema Displays gos black when routed through DVI extenders boxes
I have an ATI radeon 9650 with two DVI ports. My new set up requires my Mac to be further than the dvi connector's present lenght to my 2 HD cinema displays. I purchased 2 DVI extender boxes. Once connected the Utilities does not show the displays as Cinema HD Displays. And worse yet they both go black and the power light blinks. When I hook up the 23" directly through DVI to the G5 both displays come on. However the one connected through the extender box still shows the wrong display profile.
I have check and re-checked the cables, extender boxes, my graphic card and all seems to test out properly. I know this because I have another G5 with same specks that I have tested these hardwares on. Finally I thought it was my Bootup drive so I did a full erase and clean reinstall. the monitors worked fine for 10 minutes and then when I clicked on Displays in system pref window they both went black again. I can only conclude that the DVI extender box is somehow changing the signature of the HD Displays and the the system freaks out!

PS total lenght of CAT5 DVI extenders from Mac to Display 15ft maxNaelm G, I just read your first post a little more carefully. Is it true you are only trying to place the Cinema displays 15 feet away from the Mac? That's not very far. If you don't care about also extending the Firewire and USB, then you might be able to get away with a simple 10 foot DVI extension cable like this:

The combinded length of the Cinema's built-in cable plus the 10 foot extension cable will be more than 15 feet. This would be the cheapest way to go by far.

Hi everyone! I was trying to watch a serie in "series pepito" in my mac mini and suddenly mac_installer.zip was downloaded. IS IT A VIRUS?? I´ve always erased it but one day my father open it and he was redirected to a webpage saying user>macinstaller and something like that. I immediately erased the program without clicking in that webpage but I´m afraid the virus (if is it a virus) is still there. HELP PLEASE! THANK YOU!!

Shocks when going through airport security
I have noticed time after time that when I put my aluminum unibody McBP through the airport x-ray machine I get a whopping static shock when I touch the case on the other side. Is this damaging to the machine, and how can I prevent it? I have little enough hair as it is.

This occurs on every website where I have to type in letters from my password to confirm a payment.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Why do I have to pay extra for something that I already bought? Shouldn't I be able to have access to my music even if its not through apple? This is ridiculous when I go to the store and buy a CD I'm not relegated to only playing it on one CD player
iTunes Plus is the name for the option in iTunes that allows customers to buy music at the iTunes Store that is free from digital rights management, or DRM.
Digital Rights Management, or DRM, is designed to prevent unauthorized sharing of files. This especially became a big concern for the music industry after the rise of Napster, Limewire, and Kazaa.
DRM, even the DRM used by Apple on iTunes Store content, prevented that. Apple's DRM allowed users to share files on only up to 5 computers.
According to TUAW, the new iTunes Plus songs have information embedded in them that identifies the user who bought and shared them by name.
This means that if you share your music and record companies want to track you down and sue for you copyright infringement, it's going to be easy.

why does a standalone program created in Labview 8.5 try connecting to the internet when the program only reads data through the serial port? Firewalls object to progams that contact the internet without permission.
The created program is not performing a command I have written when it tries to connect to the internet, it must be Labview that is doing it. How do I stop this from happening?

Hopefully someone can help.... I have an Iphone 5 and want to create a music video playlist on my phone so then i can play through my apple tv... but when i make a playlist in itunes and try to add it over to my iphone it wont let me sync the playlist...? I have already added the music videos to my iphone so that is not the problem.... i cant seem to figure out how to make a playlist for them... IE: to make the videos play consecutively in the order i want without stopping after each video and gong back to the list.... this is what i have had to resort to make it work....what i want to do....is be able to make a playlist of videos on my iphone 5....take my apple tv to friends houses and with wifi....set up apple tv and play videos at the party and not have to stand by with the remote and find a new video to play stopping the music between the songs/videos....very annoying....and have spent over 4 hours one day and an hour and a half today on the phone today with a sr. advisor with apple and they have no clue.... this seems sooooo simple.... please somebody that really knows how to do this....i will be indebted forever...............

I want to open a folder in a separate window by clicking on it. For some reason when I click on a folder it just replaces the one I was just in. I want them both to be open at the same time without having to go through several steps. Old apple operating systems made it easy to have several folders open at one time.
Eric, thanks that works but seems like an extra added step also to do it that way. I've got to move and organize a ton of files and I'm looking for a easy way to get this done. I could also open the folder into a separate tab and then drag the tab out so it becomes an open window but thats a lot of fussing around also with extra steps. Not sure why these newer operating system seems more confusing and less user friendly than what they used to. In the past I could just click on any folder and it would open in a separate window making it really easy to copy or move files from one place to the other just by simply dragging them from one window to the other. Seems like I'm going through several extra steps now to do a simple task.
