Apple: Please Listen! Open up the Apple TV like the iphone!

I really hope they are seeing the success of the iphone app store and readying a similar platform for the Apple TV. Along with new hardware capable of 1080p.
After using Pandora on the iphone, it only makes me want it on the Apple TV even more!
Anyone else agree?

Yes, you do have to be at your computer to rate a song but that's true with iTunes music as well. I find it annoying that you can't rate music that's being played on the Apple TV. Time to go submit more feedback to Apple....

When is Apple going to open up the iPhone Developer Program?

I signed up for the iPhone Developer Program almost as soon as one could sign up for it. I was one of the unlucky many who got the "you are not important enough to let into the Developer Program" e-mail. That was months ago when the rumor was that they would be opening it up around the time of the WWDC. Well, it is now WWDC time. Is there any more info on this?
Why don't I use the iPhone Simulator? The iPhone Simulator does not simulate the accelerometer very well (i.e., it does not simulate it at all) and the accelerometer is important for my app. I can't even tell if my app is feasible without running some test code so that I can get a real world sense of how well the accelerometer works.
Between this and the significant issues that I am having with my MBP and Apple's lack of response, I am starting to feel that I picked a bad time to start doing Apple development.

Excuse me, but Apple clearly has decided that some application developers are more important than others. The App Store is opening up next month and I don't think they will be selling apps that haven't been QA'ed on real devices. Oh, I get it. All of the big name mobile software vendors that Apple wants to display in their App Store just happened to get randomly selected.
"Apple has no way of knowing who has real apps ..." Well, I told them that I did. I even told them that it uses the accelerometers, so the simulator wouldn't help.
You note that Apple says that there are 21k developers in a holding pattern. What is it about the iPhone Developer Program that stops Apple from just taking people's money and issuing them cookies (or whatever) that allows the downloaded SDK to load apps on real devices? Inviting people over to your house to install your app on their iPhone/iPod touch is not a very good distribution model; the App Store is needed for distribution. The limiting factor is the gatekeeper for the App Store, not a SDK that can run code on real devices. So, why don't they freely distribute a SDK that can run code on real devices?
After telling the world "look, a SDK for the iPhone" months ago, why can't Apple even give a date to 21k people who took the time to sign up for the Program when they might be able to run their apps on real hardware?
I want to do things the right way (through Apple's SDK) and I really don't like the idea of jailbreaking, but right now that seems like the only option that I have to proceed with my app development.

Disgust at Apples refusal to open up the iPhone.

I recently purchased 3 iPhones, and own 3 Mac's but I must say that Apple's complete refusal to even allow discussion on this forum of opening the iPhone up so that others can write applications for it is absolutely disgusting. If Apple starts this "its proprietary" stuff, then I have probably bought my last thing from them. Linux here I come.
I think that Bill Gates must have found a new home in Cupertino.
There are a lot of good things about the phone, but there are a lot of bad things too. Opening the phone up will help fix the things that need fixing and will open entire new reasons to buy the phone.
The calculator is worse than a $5.00 special I could buy at WalMart, you can't even backup if you mistype a digit, something many $5.00 calculators can do.
The Calender and Contacts are really buggy and missing features. I constantly have to go to my laptop to fix something I can't fix on the iPhone.
I think that Apple needs to "JAILBREAK" the phone themselves if they really believe in being "Open".
Web Apps are not of any value if you don't have coverage and the few I've tried are BAD!!!
Apple, what is so wrong with letting other people write applications for the iPhone. Some will be bad, some will be good. Stop swimming against the tide.

I'm using iphone4 and i saw a new update IOS7 and i press to update,the iphone is updating than it turn off for 5 minutes later it turn on again but with the app's logo and it start to repeat again and again and I can not connect to itunes to fix,I do not know what to do ,hope you guys will help me with the iphone,i reallly need it right now

Yes, let it import the camera roll pictures that are on the iPhone and let it "delete originals" and then let iTunes sync photos and you will have your pics but the camera roll will be available again.
No "new" pictures does not make any difference when you have not let iPhoto delete originals when it imports the images. iPhoto will open whenever it detects images on the camera roll.

A midnight opening for the Iphone 4S?

I wish best buy would open at midnight for the Iphone 4s release. I doubt this has ever happened. They would get a great jump on the other stores as far as sales go.

I have an iphone with 1.0.4 firmware, or something like that, I installed some null river apps, but i have a problem sometimes each time that I wake up my cellphone, the bell that indicates the ringing mode turn up, and another times it turn up spontaneous, please, somebody help me! Please!

1.0.4 doesn't sound right, but no matter. First, try to turn the phone off, then back on. If that won't work, then try doing a restore. I had nuriver too but I quit using it when I updated to 1.1.1.

Using the iPhone as a modem

I am a current O2 customer in the UK and I have used various Nokia phones (and IR & bluetooth) to connect an iPaq and various laptops to a mainframe computer (ie. a modem on the end of a standard UK landline phone number).
At times I had to wrestle with O2 customer support to sort out the "modem" capability and it became apparent this ability was a configuration on my O2 account (I swapped between Orange and O2) in addition to the phones ability.
Most of the discussion here seems to be generated by US AT&T customers where it seems AT&T dont allow this sort of customer usage. O2 do.
So the million dollar question is, will we be able to use the iPhone as a modem in the UK to access other computers, with handhelds & laptops?

for what it is worth, I asked O2 that question as for me it will be the deciding factor in whether I buy one or not. Their response (the relevant bit) is pasted below and is very non-committal as to whether they are not allowed to say or simply don't know.

So come on Apple, you have a technically near-perfect product, an eager customer base willing to cough up their money for your product rather than a competitors at a moment's notice and a complete lack of information from or interest on your part in providing the last little function of what your customers need! Even if the connection is only EDGE speed rather than broadband, for those of us who use your laptop products as a necessity on the road, it at least provides a way of connecting our laptops to the net to access functions the iPhone really can't do (such as databases and SOA access) and really wouldn't want it to.
Put everyone out of their misery and open up with the information we need and open up the iPhone to what it really can do.

It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

How can i transfer my music from iphone to itune. currently itune wouldnt allow this as i have also used my ipad? the message i get it says: the iphone is synced with another itunes library. do you want to erasethis iphone and sync with this itune?

an iphone can be synced with one itune library at one time. erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iphone with the contents of this itune library!!

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your other library/computer, or your backup copy, to your new library/computer

First message I get when I connect the iphone is

Then it tries to backup but I get
"Itunes cannot sync apps to the iphone because the apps installed on the iphone could not be determined"
When I click check for updates it says I have the latest version (5.0)
When I try to restore I always get "iTunes could not backup the iphone because a session could not be started with the iphone. Please disconnect and reconnect the iphone, then try again"
Tried that MANY times but no luck.
This iphone was on a developper account but it is not anymore (removed from developper account).
I'm the administrator on my PC. When I'm on the summary of my iphone it shows N/A as my phone number.
Back up to icloud doesn't work because I didn't set it up before it stopped working

Songs I purchased on my iPhone not showing up in my itunes library, or purchase history. The iPhone was unauthorized, but connected to my iTunes account.

So I got a new iPhone about a month or two ago (I no longer have this iphone) and I bought some albums from iTunes but now that I'm on my computer (which the iphone is not authorized on) I cant seem to find out how to download the albums I downloaded. The albums were bought on the iPhone through the iTunes app that was associated with my account. The songs show as purchased on the iTunes store, but theyre not in my purchased list.

so when i use to hook up to windows the iphone would let me open up the iphone to get my pictures out but when i hook it up to my macbook it dont show up at all.. i want to get pictures off of this iphone

The iPhone does not show up on the desktop on the Mac, by design (because disk use is not possible, unlike most iPods). You need to use iPhoto or Image Capture to get the pics off the phone. iPhoto is for organizing your pics, sorting them, editing them, etc. You can choose iPhoto albums to sync back onto the phone, if you like. Image Capture is a simple app to pull images off cameras or scanners.
If you have iLife '08 or later, select iPhoto > iPhoto menu > Preferences > General tab and set the When Camera is Connected pop-up to either launch iPhoto or Image Capture. If you have an older version of iLife, that setting is in Applications > Image Capture > Image Capture menu > Preferences.
