I have never seen so many problems.
People are RELYING on the software YOU are saying 'JUST WORKS'
Perception is everything.. and your image is not going to last very long.
I feel the pre iWeb days were simpler.. but they worked.
and now people that have stuff on 'homepage' and iweb have a mess.
I am saddened as I am a die-hard mac fan, and I am utterly disillusioned.
What a freaking mess Apple... I am insulted that I have to pay for this.

6 months ago, I see in the powerbook 17" forum a lot of people having problems with a motherboard overheat. All messages have been deleted. I also have a mother board overheat on mine, I contact Apple care... They do nothing. Last week I decide to change the mother board on my own. The technician agree that a lot of people have problems with powerbook....
So if your powerbook is under waranty send it back to apple or ask for a refund ....
They have nothing to do about customers... Look at the Intel move. When you invest on an Apple computer you keep it for 6/7 years sometimes more. Macosx is dead for PowerPC users. I hope macintel users will be happy with a lot of bugs ! Until Apple changes to Cell chip (why not ?)

If the phone was previously owned and is locked to that owner's Apple ID the ONLY way you can activate it is to get that person to release Activation Lock. This is an antitheft feature of the phone; stolen phones are useless.
If you purchased the phone new you created the Apple ID, and will have to remember it. If it is only the password you have forgotten go to https://iforgot.apple.com

A computer can be authorized to play content purchased using a particular Apple ID (the iTunes Store account). However, being authoized to play content is not directly related to being able to buy content using that Apple ID.
For example, a parent may purchase content for a child and authorize the child's computer to play that content, but that does not mean the child is able to purchase content using that Apple ID.
If this is your Apple ID, you should know the answers to the security questions. If you do not, you'll need to contact Apple iTunes Store customer support

MB-Air uses maverick downloaded yesterday - upgrade from mountain lion. MB uses snow leopard still, as i am quite used to it and am thinking of upgrade if mavericks work fine on air. Also have parallel on snow leopard but it is no longer supported according to mac website - if i upgrade am i going to lose my parallel and will have to buy a new one!!!

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

yes you are correct in your statement but i was curious to see if that interpretation was correct so i called....after about 15 minutes a supervisor came on the phone and said the update is not available for the original iPhone because it is only for the 4.0 software which is not compatible with the original iPhone...and i may not have actually known what was going on but i did realize that i could not make phone calls at certain times even though I had 1 or 2 bars....now i realize this was because of the "incorrect signal strength formula" that has been present since the launch in the original iPhone as you stated....just becuase i could not pinpoint the problem (becuase i am not an engineer) does not mean i used the phone flawlessly with no problems...now that i now what the cause of the problem is i can identify it every time it happens...i used to just think that maybe the call was dropped but in fact i never had any service to begin with because the phone incorrectly displayed that i had service when i did not

I really doubt if that will do much good but certainly give it a try. However:
It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.
This may be of some interest to you: Life After MobileMe. And as a replacement for iWeb give Flux 3 a try. You can use it in demo mode for 30 days. If you do decide to try it view the video tutorials at their site and the 3rd party videos at YouTube. I found them to be very helpful.

How do you tell whether you are on an iPad or an iPhone?

HOw does one tell the hardware you are running on, iPhone vs. iPod Touch vs. iPad? and how does one do this in such a way that it won't break later on as later revisions of the iPhone etc are released. Does apple have a generic + specific hardware coding system? Remember the old Carbon Gestalt() calls?

Suggest using the confidential forums that are currently in place for iPad questions, etc.

Tell if you are far away from GPS-coordinates

I am thinking of building an iPhone app. Today I saw a man sitting on the bus, and he fell asleep. After plenty of bus stops he woke up.
I want to make an app that gives you an alert before you reach the place you are reaching (by map) and that will be GPS-coordinates I guess. Lets say 500m before.
Is it possible?

MapKit provides the basics for determining location.
The app would need to know the latitude & longitude of the destination, then it would simply compare the current location...just like any GPS app.
When the offset equals a certain distance, an alarm is triggered such as"You are approaching your destination"...just like any GPS app/device that has a clear view of the sky.
As long as no one calls the phone to say "You are approaching your destination" when the user is 1,501 yards away from their stop, the app could tell the user "You are approaching your destination"...just like any good GPS app.

How to tell if you are running an exe or vi

My searching skills suck today.
I am building an exe using the application path to find certain files that need to be included. It works great in the exe, but when making changes to the VI all the paths are broken because of the application path. But I remember back a while someone had a way to tell if you were running the program as a VI or an exe. Then when the program starts it can choose the correct paths to use.
Any ideas on how to do that? Or is there a better way to run the program as a VI and an exe without breaking paths?

Drop a property node of the 'Application' class, select Application->Kind. The output is an enum of Development vs. Runtime vs. Student vs. Embedded... you get the idea.

How to tell if you are buying Nano with slip case... I think...

So I bought a 2GB black Nano at Best Buy on Saturday, and the center button acted funny, so I returned it about 2 hours ago. They had no more in stock, so I got my refund and went to Circuit City. They had tons in stock. But this is what I noticed: on both the front and back of the NEW Nano box there is a silver Apple logo in the upper right corner. There were NO silver apples on the box I got from Best Buy. And even the clerk at CC knew what he was doing because he pulled it out from behind 2 Nano boxes with no apples.
So when I opened the box, I saw my SLIP CASE! I have an iSee Nano on order, but this will do in the meantime.

Well it is hard if you are ordering it online like I did (but I ordered it online way before the slip cases anyways).
And until you get you iSee nano case, DO NOT REMOVE THE THIN PLASTIC COVER THAT COMES ON THE FRONT OF THE NANO. Even if you do have the slip case.
