Apple Pro Wireless Keyboard Typing Lag

I have been running this old keyboard on my W7 machine,(not through Boot Camp) and recently it has been lagging really badly when typing in most every program. It seems like the keys are sticking, but it happens to almost every key (except caps lock and the like). I have tried replacing the batteries, and it doesn't seem to help any. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x86, with the Microsoft drivers.

Hello h:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
Try a couple of things. If they do not work, call Applecare with a warranty issue (the KB may be faulty)
Reset the PRAM
Reset the SMC.
Instructions for both are in knowledge base articles.

  • "Sticky" keys on apple's wireless keyboard when typing on my ipad.

I am using apple's wireless keyboard on my ipad. It has worked fine for four months but then last night the keys got "sticky", typing any letter I'm hitting continually until I hit escape. Does anyone know how to set it back to normal typing?
The on screen keyboard works fine (I'm using it now), but when i switch to the wireless this happens:
    I   cannnnn't't't    tttttyppeeeeeeee      noormallyyyyyyy...............
I tried changing batteries but that didn't help either. Would really appreciate comments/help!!

Do you have a computer with Bluetooth that you can test the keyboard with?
Have you tried going into Settings on the iPad and under Bluetooth tried forgetting the device? You should see the keyboard listed as a device. Pressing the arrow in the blue circle should present an option to forget the device.

  • Using "delete" key on Apple's wireless keyboard shut down applications on my ipad, such as Mail, in Japanese Font.  Any solution?

I use Apple's wireless keyboard to type email messages on my ipad.  Often applications, such as Mail, would shut down suddenly after using "delete" key on the wireless keyboard.  This happens when I am typing in Japanese language.  It is really annoying because I will lose all the text that are not saved.  Any suggestions?

Sorry but that was a completely pointless post.

  • How do you clean the battery tube for the Apple aluminum wireless keyboard

We have an Apple aluminum Wireless keyboard. My daughter said the weak battery signal came on and then while later the keyboard stopped working. I had a difficult time loosening the endcap whre the batteries are stored. When I finally got it open, it was appearant that one of the batteries had leaked. Now the keyboard does not work when I insert new batteries. The corrosion is in the area of the last battery (closest to the opening)and on the cap. What is the best way to clean this up?

I just had this same problem. I had much difficulty getting the third battery out of the keyboard battery tube due to corrosion. Despite a rubber mallet and some careful tapping of the keyboard on a hard surface, I resorted to a few drops of vinegar.....after a minute or so I was able to pop the last battery out.
There was light corrosion along the inside of the tube which made putting new batteries in difficult, and besides if I were to force the new batteries in - I would be facing the same problem next time. So, I ended up using a shotgun cleaning kit to clean the tube. I attached a 20 GA bore brush to the cleaning rod and ran it through the battery tube a few times. Blew the tube out with compressed air, and inserted the new batteries. The wire bore brush worked like a charm as I am typing this reply on the keyboard. Just thought I'd mention the idea.

  • Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard not Connecting to iPad

Hey, I try to connect my Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard is not connecting to my iPad. I tap Bluetooth "On" and it searches for devices. Then I slide the switch on the back of my keyboard to the green light and the iPad picks it up and says "Not Paired." So I tap the keyboard and it just spins and spins and spins until the keyboard times out and powers off. Then it disappears and my iPad can't find any devices. I repeated the process several times and I got the same result.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks

I had a very similar problem, with a new model wireless keyboard. The set-up is not very intuitive (and the instructions for both the iPad and the keyboard are not particularly helpful). Here's how I got it to work:
    1. If the keyboard has already been paired with another object -- e.g., I was testing out my iMac keyboard -- you should be completely out of range of that other object (more than 30 feet away).
    2. Make sure Bluetooth on the iPad is disabled.
    3. The keyboard should not be "on" -- i.e., no solid green light.
    4. Press and hold the power button on the keyboard until you get a blinking green light. This should take just a few seconds.
    5. Turn on Bluetooth on the iPad.
    6. At this point, it should detect the keyboard and instruct you to enter a combination of keys to pair the two devices.
I found that you have to follow this sequence or it won't work. For example, if you have Bluetooth on on the iPad before holding the power button on the keyboard, it won't work.
    I hope that helps.

  • Is there ANY wireless mouse that will work with the iPad 2 and Apple's Wireless Keyboard?

I have the iPad 2 and Apple's Wireless Keyboard and would like to purchase a wireless mouse that will accommodate my Apple products. I do understand that Apple's Magic Mouse is not compatible with the iPad 2, but would like to hear if there is any possibility that i could use a wireless mouse with my iPad.
      Thanks :)

You don't have to purchase a mouse. You already have one, it's wireless and the only one that will work on an iPad.

  • How do I jump between spreads using apple's wireless keyboard?

When in InDesign CS4 for Mac, I often jump to the next spread. First, I center the spread on my screen using Command+Option+0. Then, I use Option+Page up or Page down, and this takes me to the next or previous spread, and it keeps the spread exactly centered. I am going to switch to apple's wireless keyboard, which does not have a page up or page down. Will I still be able to navigate the same way using the arrow keys or another keyboard combination?

You don't have to edit keyboard shortcuts.
Press Fn + Option + up arrow and Fn + Option + down arrow to page to next or previous spread. "Fn" is the function key at the lower left corner of your keyboard.
I also turn on the function "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard. This allows you to get access to function keys when necessary.

  • I have an Apple pro wired keyboard that I want to use with a Windows PC.  It seems to recognize it through plug

I have an Apple pro wired keyboard that I want to use with a Windows PC.  It seems to recognize it through plug & play, but stops working after a few minutes.  Does anyone know of a fix to this situation?

    Hi,
Could you explain that again using different words ?
I am not clear on what it is that you want to do.
What are you trying to sync ?
    Contacts ?
    Emails ?
    Other info ?
If it is Mail who do you normally get it and what applications are you using ?
People also might want to know if it is a POP or IMAP account before they can help.

    HellO:
I would not waste time trying to troubleshoot the problem.  Since it is new, call Applecare with a warranty problem.  I had a similar problem with a new KB some time ago and it was replaced at no cost (shipping included).

  • 2007 BT Apple Aluminium Wireless Keyboard

Hi. Suddenly, my Apple Aluminium Wireless Keyboard (2007 version)  went mad. I deleted it from the BT devices enlisted, in order to re-pairing it, but then, I cannot pair it again. I´ve changed batteries, reboot, deleted preferences, reseted the pvram, but nothing happens. Its weird, because in the list of devices the keyboard appears listed, but finnally never get pair. Sometimes, pressing some keys, I got the device appears listed, but again, it cannot get pair.
Anyone else have the same trouble?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello:
    Try resetting the SMC.
Of course, the KB may have failed.

  • Fn key is not working on Apple compact wireless keyboard

The fn key is not working on my Apple compact wireless keyboard. Keyboard Viewer shows the keyboard (incorrectly) as having a number pad but no fn key. How do I fix this? I'm running OSX 10.5.8.

Unfortunately my old Mini does not have wireless capability. So I could not test the keyboard.
I did however find two preferences files. I suggest you find them and trash them.
Disconnect the keyboard first. Then find the two .plist files. They are:
    com.apple.KeyboardViewerServer.plist - this is in Users / yourself / Library / Preferences.
The other is: com.apple.keyboardtype.plist - this is in Library (root level) / Preferences.
After trashing both these, it's a good idea to restart the computer, and then once again pair the keyboard.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard is lagging and disconnecting when using Macbook Pro via Bootcamp

    Hey guys,
I am using my Macbook Pro (I think from 2009) with an external monitor and the apple wireless keyboard (connection via Bluetooth).
First when I set up Bootcamp everything worked fine. But now suddenly the keyboard is lagging (letters sometimes appear after a few seconds or get stuck and typed 20 times or something) and randomly completely disconnecting.
I already downloaded the newest drivers for Boot Camp 64bit from the apple website, but this didnt solve my problem.
I tried disconnecting the keyboard on mac and then reconnecting on the Windows 7 partition again. Also didn't work.
Of course I had to reconnect the keyboard when on the mac.
But it's not that it's not working. I'm using the keyboard via Bootcamp right now. It's just that it's randomly doing this...
Now I don't know what to do. Do some of you have the same issues or have any ideas that might help?

  • Apple Aluminum Wireless Keyboard Pairs, but letter/number keys don't work

I just got the new Wireless keyboard and I paired it, and the Function keys work fine, and when I was pairing, the number keys worked as well(to type in pairing code). But when I try to type in any search box or type anywhere, it won't. even the numbers won't work. the Tab and Delete keys work though. Along with the function keys.
The funny thing about this is that the number keys worked when i was pairing, but not now. Also when I start up my Mac and have to type the password in, the letter keys worked. But once on the desktop its a no go.
    Please help.

24 hours later, the initial fix resetting the Universal Access settings as discussed above, the keyboard proved to be so flaky, that I took it back to Apple and exchanged it for a new one. The weakness seems to be in the bluetooth communication perhaps, with the keyboard accepting the new settings and then forgetting them somehow. So if you are a user reading this thread and you aren't getting any joy from the solution above, the solution is to take/send the keyboard back to Apple for a new one. The one I have now works just fine. It paired up much more quickly and it is typing this note without any issues. So far. I also picked up a wired keyboard in case I have to throw this one against the wall if it starts screwing up like the other one. Either way, I am covered.

  • Apple Bluetooth / Wireless Keyboard Low-Battery Indicator?

    Hi All,
Does the iPad show a low-battery indicator when the Apple wireless keyboard is running out of juice? I know OS X is supposed to, but not sure about iOS. I plan to use my keyboard for meetings and depositions where I'd be in a tight spot if I ran out of juice unexpectedly.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
No, but, "The Apple Wireless Keyboard requires just two AA batteries — one less than the previous model. And its intelligent power management system conserves battery life. *So when you’re not using the keyboard, it automatically powers down. The instant you start typing, it turns back on*. Use the on/off switch when you're away from your computer for a long time."
    From here. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC184LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
Carry a spare set of AA batteries just in case.
