Apple push crashes during the boot of my laptop
Apple push crashes & shuts down when I boot up my laptop. What is the cause and how do I fix it?
Do you have Apple iCloud Control Panel installed on your Windows Vista laptop? Remove it or disable it to see if the error goes away. If so, try removing, rebooting, and re-installing.

There is always a blue screen appears after the Apple logo during the booting process. And then everything is back to normal. What is this thing? Is there something wrong with my screen or something?
Nah - that's just the normal boot process.

My iMac starts up and then shuts itself down during the boot up process. it shuys down half way through the Apple logo appearing. any ideas how to fix?
Hi daveormond,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iMac. If you continue to have issues with your Mac shutting down part way through the boot up process, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful (given your description, it sounds like it could be either issue, or a combination of both):
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup - Apple Support
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem." - Apple Support

During the boot up process, the white bar under the apple logo is always so close to reaching the end but it restarts and tells me to restore it again. I have tried different usb ports and restarting computer but it wont work
Ipod classic 120gbHave you tried restoring through iTunes? If not, try pressing and holding the center 'Select' button and the top 'Menu' buttons together until it restarts. Once you it restarts and you see the Apple logo, press and hold the left 'Previous' and center 'Select' buttons together to go into the diagnostics. You can run tests through that and see if it's a hard drive issue or software issue.

Apple Mail crashes during launch in Yosemite
After installing OS 10.10 Yosemite, Apple Mail crashes during launch and it's impossible to start up the app. I even tried to re-install Yosemite but that didn't help either. The strange thing is, that Mail is launching perfectly and running on my wife's user login on the same computer. She is user, I'm Admin.
Details about my system:

I'm not an IT shark, but after reading several posts in the forum, I finally solved the problem with kind help from chiefsinga's post with link to Linc Davis suggestion.
Check it out here: Mail wont start (scroll down on that post)
OR... you could follow those steps:
First of all, in my case it wasn't Yosemite that caused the problems. Instead, it was a corrupt database, so don't blame Tim Cook this time :-) In the following, I assume that you made a backup before installing Yosemite.
Here's what to do (at least in my case and translated from my Danish Mac version)
Fire up Finder and choose Go to folder... in the top menu.
Copy or enter this path in the dialog box: ~/Library and hit Go.
Now, locate the Mail subfolder and move it from the Library folder to the Desktop (don't move the Mail app).
Time for a test. If you're able to launch Mail now, it will prompt you to set up an email account. Don't do that, instead hit Cancel.
From Time Machine (or other backup), restore the Mail subfolder in Library from the most recent backup you have that predates the issue.
After firing it up, Mail will now let you copy mails, mailboxes, folders etc... to your new Yosemity Mail app.
You're smiling again (hopefully...), because right in front of you, Mail is launching as it's supposed to do
Hopefully, this will be a help... -
I have continuously over the last 6 months struggled with syncing my iphone and ipod with itunes The app continually crashes during the picture import. AND by the way it takes 10-15 minutes before it even attempts to import photos. The screen says importing photoes but doesnt try to optimize or anything for 10 minutes. I have a 3gs with 16Gb so its not a cheap phone. I have 10Gb free. I have 6600 photoes. This is very frustrating and undermines my confidence in your products. My ipod is an ipod 4 with 16Gb also. It does the exact same thing to it. The last time, I had to import photoes a few at the time and with it taking 10-15 minutes each time for 6600 photos it is a long frustrating process. But it will import every photo a few at a time. The error message is just that itunes has stopped working. no hint as to why. AND of course, my phone is out of use for the entire time. You guys must not want to believe ur phones are a necessary tool...or maybe you dont want the consumer to believe it is. I have tried to find solutions on your website as well as through other 3rd party communities. Ultimately they were of no use. I stumbled onto my solution by accident since Im a bit of a computer geek...a semi-geek.
I have this issue too, I went into my Windows event viewer. (should have looked at this a year ago when this started)
it said this
Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 11.0.2.26, time stamp: 0x51253247

basically whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4G 64GB it crashes iTunes when it begins the pictures. if im lucky ill get 4-5 on there before it stops responding. its not my system or anything im running win7x64 8GB DDR3 ram (Corsair XMS3) AMD FX Eight core processor.
It is silly that iTunes cannot add pictures to apple devices. it shatters whatever incline I may have to buy apple products. knda like the Airport Extreem router my dad bought the new firmware, caused my router to not function... why release firmware that breaks a product. -_- <-- off topic but still -

Is the Magic Mouse useable during the boot process?
My wired mouse died and I was considering the Magic Mouse as a replacement. Since I often boot to different drives, I need the mouse to be active during the boot process so I can select the drive to use. Anyone know if this will work?
Strange thing about that... I have the Apple flat aluminum keyboard, but for some strange reason, the cursor keys don't move the cursor when on the boot screen (work fine once the system is booted). The only way I was able to boot up this morning was to borrow a wired Apple mouse from another computer.

Problem with udev during the boot
Hi guys,
Sorry if I didn't post this message in the good section but I didn't find any support section, so I supposed that this section was the most apropriate.
So, I have a really ennoying problem with udevd since the latest kernel upgrade (3.2.2-1) during the boot.
I have the following error at the boot:
"udevd[37]: No such file or directory." and then the OS is unable to mount the disks and give me the weakest shell ever while saying me "You're on your own". Thank you Arch!
I can't find any informations on google about this error, and I d'ont find a complete explanation of udev debug (specialy because no logs are written at this moment).
Thank you very much guys.GreenTime wrote:

Could you elaborate on how to just reinstall the kernel? Somehow I'm stuck
Usually, you'll need a live CD (I recommend an ArchLinux Installation CD) or an LTS kernel sitting around on the same machine that can get you more or less into your favored machine. It can also be done, by pxe/diskless booting from an installation (I'm a fan of quick and efficient)! Then you have to mount all the necessary partitions /, /usr (sometimes /var if you need your packages) and most importantly /boot. They have to be mounted underneath the rescue system being used , usually under /mnt. Also needed is a mock-up of your /proc. /sys and /dev. Once they are mounted accordingly, then you chroot into your installation you need to fix. It helps if the rescue system has the same kernel, because the chroot'ed system usually tries to build your kernel based on the rescue system, but if you have your kernel package handy, it will build it with the packages modules & kernel. -
Crashes during the save process
Okay, so now that we’ve determined that I DO have the PrE 8.0.1 update/patch… I need to figure out why I am unable to save the video I’ve spent days working on.
As I stated in the last discussion concerning the update, I am in possession of a fairly high-speed computer that should be able to handle this kind of work.
I believe I’ve seen some other folks having problems because of the type of video they are using or importing… What kind of video should I convert to if PrE 8.0.1 doesn’t like what I am using? Oh and I have gotten the message to “Save often because you are running low on system memory” WHICH IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!
So here we go. The video that I am trying to save is approx. 10 minutes in length and is made up of still .jpg photos and videos taken from a Canon SX210 IS. I sure hope that is helpful. I looked at the file types and they are .mov files.
One other thing that may be helpful in identifying the problem… and is quite interesting… after the program crashes during the saving process, I can always go to the save location and find the entire PLAYABLE video saved in the format that I wanted (which was MP4). The only thing is that there are three separate files. 1) Complete clear audio 2) Complete clear video and 3) A third unknown file type that I can’t open. Quite strange. Oh and if you’re wondering if I tried to add open those two (Audio and Video) files in PrE and save them together yes, I did… And it crashed again.
BobBob,
Here is SOMETHING to think about, regarding the Memory/Resources error messages.
This ARTICLE might be helpful at finding clues as to what could be causing the problem.
The links in this ARTICLE will help provide you with some very useful tools for checking programs and Processes, like Process Explorer.
As for the inability to Save, I would try a Save_As, and see if that helps, and does the trick. If not, try Save_As_a_Copy.
When you do Save, do you get any error messages, or does the program just not Save the Project file (.PREL)?
In case it's a system issue, can you tell us about your system in detail? Aspects like the I/O sub-system, i.e. the HDD's, their size, speed, free space, controller type(s) and how they are allocated, will be very useful.
If you are working with SD material, converting to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio, will be as good as it gets.
Good luck,

Rc.sysinit and btrfs: not show partition during the boot
Hi,
I see, during the boot, that show only partition NOT in btrfs...
e.g i have two partitions: /dev/sda1 for / in ext4 and /dev/sda3 for /home in btrfs
during the boot I see only /dev/sda1 clean but I don't see /dev/sda3...
But partition mounted correctly.
This my fstab

I'll try later, now I have experimented with udev, hal, usb device, xfce, default mount options -
Lumia 920 freezes/crashes during the night. Can't ...
I have had my Lumia for 10 days and for the second time it crashes during the night and the next morning I was not able to turn it on using the power button. I had to do a soft reset... The alarm that I set to wake me up never started... This means that I cannot trust my phone for waking me up in the morning! This is unacceptable!
There is a possible alternative to the flashing or reset suggestet by the care point.
As the problem only started recently, there is a high probability that it is caused by a bad app or setting or the combination of the two. The alternative is to reverse whatever apps you installed or settings you changed just before this problem started.
The flashing is just an easy way out because it reverts the phone back to its out of the box condition. However, you may find yourself in the same situation again should you install the same app or make the same setting changes after the flashing.
I had a similar problem with one app but I managed to isolate it and the problem disappeared after I uninstalled the app. The app was pulled subsequently and updated by the developer and is now working fine on my phone. -
i updated my ipod and my computer crashed during the update now the apps that come with the ipod such as the app store and itunes are not on my ipod how do i fix this
Connect your iPod to any computer with iTunes installed, highlight your device and try syncing the apps only. If it doesn't work might have to restore through iTunes. With the new iTunes and iCloud beta, you can have the iTunes list what apps are missing on your device but if you had previously purchased in the past and then have iTunes install them. You should always get in the habit of backing up your iPhone whenever you do any firmware/OS updating/upgrading or transferring over to new device. I really really really really hope you can get back at least some of your old info. I will tell you this, I have been kicking myself in the butt for not routinely backing up my iPhone when my beautiful special iPhone 4 came up missing and had to revert back to my 3GS. iPhone 5 will be released in a few months so I am holding off on purchasing a new iPhone til then, not that I did so without reservation and a little bit of iPhone 4 withdraw.

Interestingly, Apple never refers to the MacBook's as Laptops, here's why!
Hey Folks.
I was quite shocked when I discovered the following;
http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro/care
QUOTE from the link above.
*Using Your MacBook Pro*
When you’re using your MacBook Pro or charging the battery, it's normal for the bottom of the case to get warm. +*For prolonged use, place your MacBook Pro on a flat, stable surface. Do not place your MacBook Pro on your lap or other body surface for extended periods of time. Prolonged body contact can cause discomfort and potentially a burn.*+ The bottom of the MacBook Pro case functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the computer to the cooler air outside. The bottom of the case is raised slightly to allow airflow, which keeps the unit within normal operating temperatures. In addition, warm air is vented from the slots in the back of the case.

Fair enough, it's common sense if you are working long hours to place the laptop on a flat surface and not your body. However, it's interesting how Apple never reefers to the machine as a laptop because they are careful with that word and it's meaning! The reason is, if you have the MacBook Pro on your body for a certain period of time it will start to overheat. Which is quite frustrating.
What I did now was i downloaded: http://homepage.mac.com/holtmann/eidac/software/smcfancontrol2/index.html to monitor the temperature and limiting the RPM of the hard disc.
However, my point is, since we all spent a fortune on this machine we shouldn't go to that extend to fix this issue. If i want to lay on the couch and have my MacBook pro on my lap; then this is my will to do so, now I can't be comfortable laying on the couch and having the MacBook Pro on my lap without worrying that it will overheat, which totally *****!

First of all, I really doubt that Apple is trying to avoid the use of the word laptop because of usage implications, they just call the model by its name or using the now more ubiquitous term "notebook". Second, I'm really not sure how you have come to the conclusion that if you keep your MBP on your lap for too long it will overheat, within my business we have owned a good 15 version of Apple laptops and I have yet to see one overheat. Yes, it will get hot if you leave it on your lap while watching a HD video and encoding an H.264 movie in the background, but the fans will cool the machine just fine (assuming that you don't have the machine wrapped in a blanket or something).
The vent on the MBP is located in a very good spot where it is extremely hard to block, if you want side vents go buy a 6" thick 12 pound Dell, I'm sure it has some massive fans on the side, after all there's sure plenty of room. In fact, speaking of Dells and other PC laptop brands, the Mac is notoriously good at handling heat and doesn't have effects like you see with a lot of PCs (i.e. sound card shutting down, machine overheating, etc.). As I said before, I have yet to see a single one of my many Mac laptops overheat, from the iBooks to the MacBook Pros and I probably use my machine on my lap at least 50% of the time.
