  • Major Security Flaw in 2.0.2 (APPLE READ THIS)

2.0.2 gives almost full access to the iPhone even while under password protection...
    Steps to Reproduce
Set iPhone to use passcode lock, have contacts marked as Favorites with links, phone numbers, addresses, etc in address book entry.
Tap "Emergency Call" keypad from passcode entry screen.
    Double-tap home button.
Tap blue arrow next to contact's name. You now have full access to applications such as Safari, complete Contacts list, SMS, Maps, "full" Phone access, and Mail by accessing various entries on the Favorite's page, i.e. tapping their home page brings up a full, unrestricted Safari.

Who do you think you are kidding? I absolutely guarantee that more than a few people at Apple read these forums. I have a friend that works there. They are not supposed to post here, (but some occasionally do). Stop spreading this nonsense that they don't read these forums.
If you REALLY want attention, post this on Slashdot.
But then again, I don't know many people who lock their phone.

  • IPod Shuffle green/yellow flashing  APPLE READ THIS AND POST IT!!!

This was posted by ipod user pcgoddess and this is the only way I got my ipod shuffle to work. It would not play it would just blink green and orange. Apple couldn't even put up a solution on their own website. If I were Apple I would be embarrassed.
"After searching high and low, I found a solution in another chat area. It takes a few minutes, but it works.
Place the Shuffle in your PCs USB.
A dialog box may pop up. Do not click it.
Do not click any dialog which pops up asking if you want to put songs from this pc onto this ipod, deleting the old ones.
Click edit, preferences, then select the "ipod" tab.
Check the box "enable disk use".
Move the slider to the right so that it is set to more data (maximum), and 0 songs.
    Click ok.
Right click your start button and select "Explore".
Navitage to My Computer, and then seek the drive which represents the shuffle.
Right click the drive and select format.

  • Hope that Apple reads this.

Purchased and Imac in 2011...great machine and still believe so. However just as the warantee ran out the mother board and hard drive faild.. This cost me a fortune to repair as there was no comprehencion from Apple. Since then Apple service have repaced  three hard drives as well as having to leave the iMac on several other occasions due to OS issues not allowning start up. I have tried to discuss this Apple and all I get is YOU ARE OUT OF WARANTEE. I am not even asking for free service I just want to bring to their attention that here we have a real problem machine and the number of times it has been for hard drive replacements etc..are not aceptable.
I guess this is what come from not wanting to listern to the customers.
I dont expect any reply but want to tell sombody.

I do understand your frustration. I too own a mind 2011 iMac and I absolutely love it. While I cannot advise you how to bring those issues to Apple's attention, I can probably share with you a tip that helped me in the past. If you bought the machine using a credit card, you may be automatically eligible for an extended warranty (not from Apple, but from the credit card company). I bought mine with a visa credit card, So, when I had my GPU replaced at the Apple Store outside of the 1 year standard warranty, visa reimbursed me the repair costs (about $250).
Also, I see you mentioned hard drive. At that time when my GPU failed, I also had a HDD issue and Apple replaced my HDD for free. There was a replacement program at that time for faulty Seagate 1TB HDDs used in some of the 2011 27" iMacs. I don't know if they are still running that program.
And this weekend, the AMD 6970M GPU failed again. I went to the Apple Store today thinking I had to pay $250 again, but was told that there is currently a replacement program for that GPU used in some of the Mid 2011 27" iMacs and that I will not be charged for it. This program did not exist when I had my earlier repair done.
So, I think Apple is looking at the issues reported and repairs done on various models and is working on appropriate replacement programs. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with my iMac.

  • IPhone reception is poor (it's actually NOT AT&T).... Hope Apple Reads This

After using the iphone all I could think of was...."fewest dropped calls" my a--. I've never has so many dropped calls in my life since switching to the new iPhone.
    Here are steps I've taken:
Verified that I'm in an excellent coverage area (with AT&T)
Swapped SIM - It was suggested online, and by Apple Support.
    Swapped iPhone
Purchased Wi-Ex zBoost YX510 Dual band signal booster.
    All to no avail.
I've determine it's not AT&T that is the problem it's the iPhone.
When the phone is sitting, I can get full signal, 4 bars. As soon as I pick up the phone...I get dropped calls, zero signal, no service, or maybe 1 bar (barely).
Even after doing all the aforementioned items, I still get loss of service. Clearly this is a problem with the iPhone, a search of the web shows TONS of people experiencing the same issue.
Not only that, but I contacted Wi-Ex the makers of zBoost which was HIGHLY rated by several reputable magazines etc...and they stated they have actually gotten a LARGE number of calls with respect to iPhone users having poor reception.
He pointed to transmit power as possibly being the culprit. I'm not a phone expert, I'm a Senior Systems Engineer, so not sure what that would have to do with anything. But he stated it used to be the old Motorola RAZR that they constantly got calls about and he verified that they definetly had the worst trasmit power out of any cell phone seen. Which is probably why so many people complain about the RAZR but now he states the iPhone calls are slowly taking over.
Even with the booster in my house, I reguarly get FULL signal 4 bars...but like I said...as soon as I touch the phone or make a call...it's all over.
I'm hoping this can be fixed through an iPhone update. I would hate to think I have to return the phone can cancel service, but I can't operate like this.
If Apple is watching, I'm willing to be a beta tester in anyway you see fit. I love the phone but I can't deal with all these great features but constant call dropping.

    Hi Derrick,
    Similar situation to you but..
I purchased yx500 cel single band (800 MHZ, that's the one iPhone uses at my location) actually 2 of them. Yeah I know alot of money to spend to get service at my house. But the 1st purchase was an absolute neccesity for my wife's iPhone. He phone is her ONLY phone for business and no service or 1 bar was not acceptable. The gain on the supplied base station omnidirectional antenna is only so so as the signal strength diminishes about 10 feet away from the base station. I tried the directional indoor base station antenna to get more distance from the base station, with no luck. So the 2nd purchase was another 500 cel for use in the other end of our downstairs, for me. 2 outdoor antennas on either end of the house.
The interesting part of this discussion is that my wife had Sprint previous to the iPhone and service was pretty much the same as it is now with ATT. Sprint's and ATT's towers are next to each other about 1 mile away, as the crow flies, from my house. I had and still have a Blackberry Pearl (now used as a backup phone just in case) and the service was the same as the iPhone. I had a friend over for dinner this weekend who just bought a Blackberry Curve (ATT) Same story with the service, 1 bar to no service. ATT's coverage map indicates (at street level) that we are in an excellent service area. I think our problem is that there are dense trees between us and the tower. Digital signals don't go through trees very well if at all.
For me and my wife the wi-ex product works although (and pertinent to your experience) occasionally the signal will drop inexplicably and dramatically.
On the road the iPhones work fine, and the very infrequent dropped calls are due to known (by me in my years of travelling) holes in the coverage area.
All of this stuff, unfortunately for people like us (at least for me), means that there are no definitive answers to the problem, and like you I have had to spend alot of money, and go through a long process of trial and error to maybe have an answer to the problem of service.
I'm traveling to Colorado, Denver in fact in a few weeks and will be very curious to see how service is there.
    Will keep everyone posted.

  • Hope Someone at Apple read this

One month ago i've recived a new 23'' Apple monitor and soon i've noticed one pixel (in the center bottom of the display) not working properly.
I said one is not too bad!
but now that i'm writing the pixels not working properly are growing in the same area making them more evident (for precision today 10; sometimes are less but sometime are more 10 is an average number).
I can remeber Mr. Jobs sayng in one of last keynote that Apple lcd monitors are the best! Apple refuses the lcd display other companies use for their top of the gamma...etc.
Well ..... I've two 30'' and this 23'' in my studio and when i look at them...they are beautifull !But i'had troubles with pixels in 30'' (now solved) and the new 23'' has problems too.
I found difficult to trust Mr. Jobs words because i'use also other brands monitor (Sony, Eizo) and in no one i have one single broken pixel .
May be Apple should pay more attenction to the quality provided by their chinese suppliers.
    Come on Apple!

You may be able to convince apple that you have too many dead pixels. Try taking it into an apple store and see what they say

Some of you had the same problem as me:
iTunes did not transfered the songs etc, etc...
i found how to manage that problem!

    3. Open YamiPod
    4. Connect you iPod
    5. YamiPod will say in the blue bar: "Connecting"
    6. Drag & Drop the songs you want to transfer to your iPod to the bottom table..
    7. There will appear a pop-up
    8. in that pop-up, click on add all.
    9. Songs added
This worked here by me so it should work by you guys too!
If someone from apple reads this: imo there is a prob with iTunes and not with the iPod software
Tell me if it works by you

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • APPLE/DEVS Read this! Windows 7 CAN'T detect the iPhone 5s but iTunes CAN detect it! WEIRD, huh?!..

    just a summary...
i have a iphone 3G which i have been using for a long time and now i got an iphone 5s.. troubleshooting this kind of stuff is not new to me from computers to smartphones.. the internet has a vast majority of information and all you need to do is type in the right "KEYWORD".. i'm that kind of guy that looks for the answer before i try to look on it on my own.. i'm a DIY kind of guy as long as there is an instruction on how to do it..
    now, back to the topic..
so i was trying to copy some of my pictures on my iphone 5s to my PC for backup purposes and to see the quality of the images but the portable device doesn't show up unlike my iphone 3G which is f***ing WEIRD.. been tinkering with this over the past 5 days since i have nothing to do and testing the new features of this phone but to no avail.. searched all over the internet but still none..
so last night, i was really determined since i can't sleep and also connected my iphone 3G to my PC while the iphone 5s is connected.. so here is what shows up on my devices and printers and device manager..
i can totally see the pics on my iphone 3G but not on my iphone 5s.. totally amazing.. good job apple!
the picture under devices shows my iphone 3G and the other 2 on unspecified is my iphone 5s.. the iPhone under there is being used as my source of internet since this is tethered so i can have access and post this in here so that APPLE will know how f***ed up their SOFTWARE is is..
so i downloaded itunes a couple of times, and i can't remember how many already, i think 5 times or more and then uninstalled all apple softwares (itunes, apple application support, apple mobile device support and etc as long as there is apple in it) and then reinstalled itunes but still none..
so i went on device manager removed my iphone 3G and the only one that would show there is the Apple Mobile Device USB driver under USB controllers..
and then i uninstalled the driver, looked for the driver myself by just it doesn't show up in here where you are directed to look for the driver and oh im using 64 bit just so everyone knows and i already found out that my system is using the usbaapl64.sys file in windows>system32>drivers..
so last night i installed, reinstalled itunes and then suddenly my drive D: was gone and i received an error or a "!" on my drive and my drive is not being detected.
Error: windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damage. (code 19).
i unstalled the driver in device manager and then scan hardware changes, updated the driver automatically and manually and it is saying that i have the latest hardware but i can't use my DVD drive with the error on it..
so today i searched for that e-fing error and found this http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/code-19-error.htm
"4. Uninstall Apple iTunes. While that may sound a little drastic, iTunes is the cause of enough Code 19 errors to make it into this troubleshooting.
If removing iTunes works, you might try installing it again from scratch, which doesn't always reintroduce the problem. See How to Properly Reinstall a Software Program for general advice."
so i then uninstalled my itunes, uninstalled my driver and then updated it and "walla!". i can see my DVD drive again. i am using iTunes64Setup v12.0.1.26 just so everyone knows and this setup can detect both my iphones and my iphone 5s is using the latest version which is iOS 8.1.2..
after reinstallation of itunes my DVD drive can be seen and just  noticed how APPLE SOFTWARES are so ****** up.. CAUSING A LOT OF TROUBLE AND DAMAGES..
so going back to the topic..
i was able to find a way (AFTER HOW MANY HOURS of TROUBLESHOOTING) on how my iphone 5s was able to detect the portable device or should i say the images on my iphone 5s where the autoplay pops up and everything..
so i went on device manager, uninstalled apple mobile device USB driver, disconnected my iphone 5s, UNLOCKED my iphone 5s, connected it to my PC, clicked on TRUST this PC, on my PC the sound for a USB being connected sounded, and at the bottom right, automatically installed the drivers and then the autoplay popped up with the matching PORTABLE DEVICES on COMPUTER where i can browse the internal storage and the pictures..
so now i opened iTunes and BOOOM!
iTunes doesn't detect my iphone 5s but i can browse on the images on my phone..
so again i went to device manager, uninstalled the driver for apple iphone under portable devices, scanned for hardware changes, updated the driver manually by selecting drive C: so it would automatically find the correct drive..
so now, my iphone can be detected by itunes but not on my COMPUTER.. see how ****** UP this is?!.. JEEEEEEEEEZ!!
Now i finally found the SOLUTION on how to do this and vice versa.. UNTIL APPLE decides to FIX their SOFTWARE/DRIVER issues..
if you want to scan or browse the images on your iphone 5s on your computer all you need to do is do this:
[for those who don't know how to reach this part, here is a GUIDE on how to open this is: click on the device > click on update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer]
and then you will see the screen below
click on MTP USB Device and then click on Next, after it finishes installing the drivers, your PC will automatically detect a new portable device but in order for you to access the images you need to go back on your phone, unlock it if it lock automatically and then click on "TRUST" and then you can now see the images..
BUT the problem here is that your iPhone can't be detected on iTunes...
now, if you want to go back to where your phone can be detected on itunes, just follow these steps:
click on apple mobile device USB driver, click on Next and then wait for your computer to finish the installation and then you will hear the beeping sound. check your phone, unlock it, then click on "TRUST", and then go to iTunes and you will now see your iPhone there but not on your PC where you can browse for the images..
SEE HOW THIS DRIVERS are so ****** up.. i wish i hadn't started using this ****** UP OS with all the BUGS and GLITCHES.. JEEEZ! and to think, these DEVICES are not CHEAP compared to Android devices on the market.. it's just because of how these people go with the trend that they purchase these kind of stuff and the only thing they use it for is calling or texting.. i, for once use this not for calling or texting but also for the apps that it has like the games, ebooks and etc when im bored..
i HOPE the Apple DEVS read this and find the solution on the drivers which is so ****** UP and so LAME!!
PS: i hope a lot of people who are having the same issue as what i had find this and help them with their concern even though this is not a permanent solution.. it is just a work around for folks that are looking for answers and solution.
Have a Great Day Folks and it is the start of a New Year and want to contribute something even though i don't usually posts my work around.

  • Can anyone read this Apple crash report?

    Hi everyone!
My iMac's been absolutely fine since I bought it. The Lion upgrade was smooth. I upgraded on the first day Lion became available.
In the past week, I keep getting every other day a progressive gray screen and a warning that the computer needs to restart. I've no idea what's causing the crash... it happens when I have the standard suite of apps running (Mail, iTunes, Safari, etc) so no exotic application.
Here's a crash report. Can anyone read this and pin point the problem?
    Thanks!

  • Ipod not connecting again, apple please read this.

First let me state that I made posts awhile back about my Ipod touch not being able to be recognized by itunes at all and just as a camera by windows. Now every single guide did nothing to help and the FEW people that posted had posted things I already did that did not help.
HOWEVER the version of Itunes that was prior to the one I just downloaded connected PERFECTLY with no issues.
But I just updates and wouldnt you know it, the connection problem is BACK. Apple please read this, the last version of Itunes had something different with how it connected to the Ipod...PLEASE bring that back, its so inconvenient not being able to connect to my own Ipod
If someone wants to post a reply that might help feel free...but everything on this website and even a few others not posted here have not worked, this is mostly me praying that Apple reads it...that tiny difference on how it connected made a huge difference with my computer.

Thanks. I worked out a simpler method of turning off the internet access - just switching off my wireless modem. Either way, this works and with the PC not connected to the internet, all three Apple devies will sync.
Thinking about it now, I had a similar problem a few versions ago which I recognised because with Home Sharing on and connected to the internet iTunes was trying to find files from someone in another hotel room who also sharing the hotel's wireless network. My devices would not sync then either. This seemed to be resolved with subsequent itunes upgrades until now ....
Thanks for the advice. Let's hope Apple's next 'update' actually updates itunes so it can sync Apple devices whilst simultaneously connected to the internet (not a big ask really).

  • My Iphone 5(purchased in Jan 2013) has suddenly developed a multicolored hue in the center of the **** screen. it looks pathetic and totally whacked out. Its rainy and humid where I stay this time of the year. Apple guys are you reading this?

my Iphone 5(purchased in Jan 2013) has suddenly developed a multicolored hue in the center of the **** screen. it looks pathetic and totally whacked out. Its rainy and humid where I stay this time of the year. Apple guys are you reading this? does the management go through this website.? Hey Apple guys, can you replace my phone for me.Its so slippery and slides out very easily from my hands. I have owned smartphones before but yours is a real slimy slider. so while I was shooting pics in varanasi in march it fell out of my palm (it was drizzling) and the rear screen (the section next to the camera) kinda cracked real ugly and obviously due to this the camera is behaving kinda crazy too. can you guys help me out here.?

If your phone is defective (aside from the accidental damage) Apple will fix or replace the phone. You saud you purchased the phone in January so it is still under warranty.
If you have an Apple Store in your area, make a Genius Bar appointment.
If not, Contact Apple Service Center:

  • SUGGESTION FOR APPLE, APPLE PLEASE READ THIS!!!

Okay ive been thinking and i believe apple can do some upgrades to the trackpad in a software update to do even more amazing stuff for example:
-how about you touch the four corners of your trackpad to turn off your laptop
    -or three corners for restart
    -two corners for log out
    any comments?
is there any way i can send this info to apple?

If you wish to provide a feature request do so here: Feedback. No one at Apple reads these Discussions.

  • Its not a question, but i just hope someone from apple can read this, i just wish you can make a card just like itunes card, for ipad wi-fi card. would be convenience.

its not a question, but i just hope someone from apple can read this, i just wish you can make a card just like itunes card, for ipad wi-fi card. would be convenience.

That's why he gave you the link to make the suggestion.
But returning to your proposal ... Apple does not sell any of the "wifi" connections. It would be up to providers of service to sell giftcards, and perhaps Boingo or some of other airport-commercial WiFi firms do. I can't think of any other place I've been asked to pay for WiFi.
Now Verizon and AT&T, as well as other providers in other countries, could sell Gift Cards... and again, perhaps they do, but you'll have to check with them or make the suggestions there. It's really not an Apple issue, as they don't sell or provide any connections, just the hardware to make them.

  • TS1424 I am trying to change my primary email for my apple id - when I change it the error reads, this is your rescue email. How do I change my rescue email?

I am trying to change my primary email for my apple id - when I change it the error reads, this is your rescue email. How do I change my rescue email so that I can then change my primary id ?

You will have to delete your rescue email address first, then go back and change your primary.
    Source: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5312
You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.
