Apple Remote with MS PowerPoint?

hi
is it possible to use the Apple Remote that comes with MacBook Pro to change slides in MS PowerPoint?
i'm using Office 2004.

If you want to use the Apple Remote with PowerPoint, it IS possible (and free). Download iRed Lite (see the link on www.freemacware.com) and configure it manually to send left and right arrow key signals when using PowerPoint. NOTE: When setting the left and right arrow commands for the remote buttons, you need to tell it to activate PowerPoint. Just type "PowerPoint" in that field. I tried this setup out. It works perfectly for moving back and forth in a slideshow. There's no need to spend any more money

  • Apple Remote to Advance PowerPoint Slides

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Apple Remote to advance PowerPoint Slides during a presentation?

There are a couple of apps here that might do the trick. Haven't used them myself: IRed Lite and Sofa Control

  • Using Apple remote with macbook display closed

    Hi ,
I have a macbook connected to LCD TV with HDMI connection .
Is there a way to use Apple remote with display closed .
examples of using apple remote with display closed would be
    (1) waking the macbook with apple remote
    (2) putting the macbook to sleep with apple remote
    (3) Shutting down the macbook with apple remote
    (4) accessing front row (using LCD TV as Display )
while doing this should I connect the macbook to power source.
please point me to any documentation / solutions available .
I don't have any external keyboard or mouse connected to macbook . I just want to use Apple remote to do the above functions .
    Thanks

    Hi suresh,
    as mentioned here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286
    and
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300562
you must have to have a keyboard or mouse to trigger the macbook wake up from sleep when you close the lid.
usb mouse is not that expensive and you can start with that.
    Good Luck

  • How can I use apple remote with Mountain Lion? Any Front Row alternative?

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
All great except for my Apple Remote control.
Before, I could effectively control my iMac media with Apple Remote by using Front Row (music, photos, videos, good integration with iTunes and iPhoto).
Now, as I understand, Front Row is expired.
So, my Apple remote still works but with very limited options (just music, forward, backward and volume), and it's a real pity.
Any of you Guys know how to restore Front Row?
Otherwise maybe suggest an alternative (sth similar, should allow iMac media control by Apple Remote)?
So far I tried to restore all Front Row files by a Time Capsule Snow Leopard backup (as indicatred on some other Communities).
To restore was easy, but then, no way to launch it.
    Any advice will help!
    Thanks in advance/all the best.
    Marco

Thanks Klaus1 for your prompt answer, although I went again through a dated discussion.
I also got the feeling that somehow they want to push Apple TV..
But, respectfully speaking towards our Friends at Apple, is it fair to promise what you don't deliver?
I have choosen apple because I percive it's different.
    At currently published link: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC377Z/A/apple-remote
    they do promote the following:
    Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver. Not compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Cost for this is 15£ (19€).
Now, I have iMac and Mac Book Pro (no retina display) both with Mountain Lion installed, and I understand both of them are not compatible with Front Row.
Actually I adore apple tv and I got 2 at home nicely working on 2 different TVs.
So I accomplished twice their wish of selling this product to me.
Why shall they deceive me (and many others, as I read) by killing a still promised service?
Should I read all forums before buying a trusted-brand-product like apple, to ensure that id does what declared?
Don't get me wrong, I'm an enthusiast user of the whole apple family, since many years, and still I am.
Just politely complaining for this decision, which creates to Many an easy avoidable disservice.
    Cheers
    Marco

  • Using apple remote with ipod touch 4th gen

i've seen on the apple website that you can use the apple remote with the ipod 4th generation. how does it work? because isn't the apple remote an ir device? or does it work off bluetooth? some advice on how to use the apple remote would be great. thanks.

You also need Apple's Universal Dock. The description of the remote says:
Note: The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a dock connector or any iPhone.,Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver.

  • How to pair my white apple remote with my macpro?

this is the kind of mac I have G87151S7UQ2 (I think?)
its a tower pro, and I'd like to pair my white apple remote with it

The Mac Pro does not have a built-in IR receiver. You can however buy a USB IR receiver and use that in conjunction with your Apple Remote.

  • Im havingtrouble pairing a new apple remote with apple.tv. Any suggestions? Have followed directions so far.

Im havingtrouble pairing a new apple remote with apple.tv. Any suggestions? Have followed directions so far.

A classic chicken/egg problem. I see this in the Apple TV manual:
You can also hold down Menu and Right for 6 seconds to pair Apple TV and the Apple Remote.
When you successfully pair your Apple Remote, Apple TV displays a chainlink symbol (          ) above a picture of a remote. Apple TV now works only with the paired remote.
You might have to change your screen name (kidding).

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The new iMac hasn't got an IR port, so it's not possible to use the Apple Remote with the new iMac. See the iMac's specs > http://www.apple.com/imac/specs/

  • Using Apple Remote with Powerpoint

    Hey folks -
Is there any way to get Powerpoint and the Apple Remote that comes with the MacBooks to work together? I know the remote will work with Apple's preso software, but I'd rather see it work with PP. Has anyone tried?
    Thanks!
    jas

I got mine to work much more easily with iRed Lite. I got the left and right remote buttons to work just fine to simuate the 'up' and 'down' keystrokes used for the presentation. I used the 'up' remote button to simulate 'b' for black screen, 'down' for 'w' to get a white screen, and hold the 'play' button to simulate 'esc' to end show.
As far as starting the slideshow, I didn't use Applescript, I just used a keyboard shortcut from System Preferences-->Keyboard & Mouse pane-->Keyboard shortcuts tab to create a shortcut for 'view show' or 'view presenter tools'. The one catch, though, is that in some apps, like PowerPoint, the keyboard shortcuts won't work until the menu containing the command with the shortcut is opened. I guess the system has to tell PowerPoint about the shortcut, and doesn't realize the menu item is there until the menu is opened. This isn't true for all apps. Anyway, then all you have to do is set the play button to the same keystroke as you set in Keyboard Shortcuts, and remember to open that menu sometime after launching PowerPoint and before you want to start your presentation.
